Ghost Stories - Chapter 28
"Knock, knock, knock!" A knock sounded at the door. Lin Feng wiped his sweat and opened the door. It was Qi Qi standing there.
Qiqi asked, "What's wrong? I heard a sound coming from your side!"
Lin Feng was amused, annoyed, and frustrated all at the same time, saying, "Zhang Xiang died in the toilet!"
Kiki was stunned for a full three seconds before saying, "No way? Someone could die in the toilet?"
Lin Feng smiled wryly and said, "But he really is dead in the toilet now!"
Lin Feng led Qiqi to the restroom. When Qiqi saw Zhang Xiang's appearance, she frowned and said, "What happened? There's no reason for him to choose this method of suicide!"
Lin Feng said, "Who knows? Maybe it's just a personal hobby."
Qiqi rolled her eyes at Lin Feng and said, "Hurry up and get him out."
Lin Feng and Qi Qi each grabbed one of Zhang Xiang's hands and pulled together, finally managing to pull him out after several attempts. But as soon as he was pulled out, Lin Feng immediately vomited.
It turned out that Zhang Xiang's head was shoved into the toilet pipe, squeezed into a long, thin shape. Although the skull was completely crushed, it hadn't scattered. The eyes, nose, and mouth were all distributed along this long strip. The mixture of white brain matter and bright red blood was incredibly gruesome. So, Lin Feng, upon just one glance, was overwhelmed by the shock and immediately began vomiting uncontrollably.
Although Qiqi's strong constitution allowed her to withstand the shock of the scene, she still felt extremely nauseous. She quickly pushed herself out the door. Lin Feng, having finally finished vomiting, came out clutching his chest and panting, "Damn, that was fucking disgusting!"
Qiqi lowered her head in thought, then asked Lin Feng, "Didn't you hear any noises last night, or notice anything amiss?"
Lin Feng said somewhat embarrassedly, "I was so tired last night that I fell asleep as soon as I lay down. I woke up in the middle of the night and found him here instead of him!"
Qiqi whispered, "Could this have been done by the Ghost King?"
Lin Feng was taken aback and said, "That's unlikely. He was seriously injured last night!"
Qiqi shook her head and said, "Although he was injured, Zhang Xiang was more seriously injured. If he was going to make a move, he would naturally target him first. I didn't expect this guy to be so clever."
As the two were talking, a heart-wrenching scream suddenly erupted from beside them. They looked down and saw that Qiqi hadn't closed the door when she came in, and the shop owner, passing by, happened to see Zhang Xiang in the bathroom with his head squeezed into a toothpaste tube shape. This caused the owner to let out that piercing scream. To Lin Feng's disbelief, such a shrill scream came from a man.
Lin Feng immediately stepped forward and said, "Boss, don't panic."
But the moment the boss saw Lin Feng approaching, he looked like he'd seen a ghost and scrambled out, shouting, "Murder! Murder!"
Lin Feng gave a wry smile and said, "What should we do?"
Qiqi pulled him inside, then closed the door and said, "Quickly call Li Mingsheng! The police will definitely arrest us when they get here. Tell him to come and bail us out!"
Lin Feng then hurriedly took out his phone and dialed.
After two beeps, Li Mingsheng's groggy voice came through; he clearly hadn't gotten out of bed yet. Lin Feng quickly explained the situation to Li Mingsheng, who said he would call the local police station first and then come over.
After hanging up the phone, the two felt helpless.
A moment later, the piercing sound of police sirens rang out outside the window. Lin Feng said with a bitter face, "The special car is here!"
Qiqi burst out laughing. Lin Feng glared at Qiqi and said, "At a time like this, how can you still laugh?"
Qiqi said, "What am I supposed to do if I don't laugh? Do you expect me to cry?"
Lin Feng sighed. The sound of hurried, chaotic footsteps echoed down the corridor. The two reached the door, and Lin Feng flung it open.

As soon as the door opened, Lin Feng was startled to see several policemen standing outside, their guns pointed directly at him. Lin Feng immediately raised his hands and said, "Everyone, don't act rashly!"
The lead policeman shouted sternly, "Don't move!"
Lin Feng said innocently, "Where did I move?"
Two policemen came up behind him, twisted Lin Feng's arms behind his back, and handcuffed him. Lin Feng's arms ached from the twisting, and he yelled, "Hey, why are you being so rough? Can't you be a little gentler?"
Before he could finish speaking, Lin Feng was kicked in the buttocks, losing his balance and falling forward. The two policemen in front of him immediately stepped aside, and Lin Feng landed face-first on the ground. His nose hit the ground hard, and blood immediately started flowing from it.
Qiqi immediately protested, "How could you do this? He didn't resist, why did you kick him? Help him up, or I'll sue you for excessive force!" Because Qiqi was a woman and had offered her hand, they didn't handcuff him behind his back, which was considered lenient.
The lead policeman, seeing that both men were handcuffed, put away his gun and said, "I hope you'll have a chance to sue. Two murderers, and you're still so arrogant!"
Two more forensic doctors rushed over down the corridor, still looking sleepy, clearly having gotten up from their sleep and hurried over.
The lead officer said to two of the officers, "Seal off the scene and take them back first."
Lin Feng was shoved into the car. Because his arm was twisted backward and he was a little slow, he got kicked in the butt. Qi Qi, on the other hand, got in without any hesitation. Lin Feng muttered, "Damn, women are so nice. She didn't even touch me, and I've already taken two kicks!"
The two police officers escorting Lin Feng looked excited, probably because it was their first time participating in such a case.
Lin Feng glared fiercely at the two officers. The two officers, believing Lin Feng to be a murderer, harbored an instinctive fear of him. To mask his fear, one officer slapped Lin Feng across the face. Caught off guard, Lin Feng tried to dodge, but it was too late. A sharp "smack" rang out, followed by a burning pain on his face. Lin Feng glared at the officer and said, "Remember, I will definitely file a complaint against you!"
The lead officer sitting in the front row chuckled.
Upon arriving at the police station, a police officer was already standing there as soon as they entered. The officer in charge immediately asked, "Is this the suspect?"
The lead officer quickly replied, "Yes, Chief Liu."
Director Liu waved his hand and said, "Check if they have any identification on them. Captain Li from the Municipal Bureau called. These two are colleagues. Take a look!"
The lead officer paused, looking at Lin Feng and Qi Qi with a puzzled expression. Then he approached Lin Feng and asked, "Do you have identification? Which pocket is it in?" His tone had lost its earlier arrogance.
Lin Feng rolled his eyes and said, "In the pocket inside the coat."
The officer reached for Lin Feng's police ID, glanced at it, and handed it to Chief Liu. Chief Liu looked at it and said, "Remove the handcuffs!"
The lead officer quickly unlocked the handcuffs on the two men. After Lin Feng retrieved his police ID and put it away, he vigorously rubbed his numb arms. He glanced at the officer, who was sweating profusely; the officer had a forced smile on his chubby face, and sweat was streaming down his forehead.
Qiqi suddenly said, "Director Liu, I'm sure Captain Li has already told you. I want to go back immediately and ask you to send the people from the scene back!"
Before Chief Liu could speak, a policeman suddenly jumped out from behind and said, "Chief Liu, something bad has happened! The hotel just called. Xiao Zhang said the owner has gone mad and has already injured two of our colleagues!"
Kiki's expression changed and she said, "Please take us back immediately!"
Because Li Mingsheng had already told Chief Liu that Qiqi and Lin Feng were from the "Special Investigation Division," Chief Liu realized something was amiss and nodded, saying, "I'll go with you!"
At Chief Liu's insistence, Lin Feng and Qi Qi had no choice but to agree to take a few more officers with them. However, Lin Feng repeatedly emphasized that they must stay far away and not act rashly.
They arrived at the scene quickly; it was already slightly dawn. A person lay face down in front of the hotel, their condition unknown, a pistol clutched in one hand and a cell phone in the other.
“It’s Xiao Zhang!” said Fatty Li, who was the lead police officer.
The car stopped beside Xiao Zhang, and Lin Feng and the others got out to check on his injuries. Chief Liu said to Fatty Li, "Notify the station to send more people to block off this section of the road, and call the city bureau to let them know what's going on!" The group then went their separate ways.
Lin Feng turned Xiao Zhang over. Xiao Zhang's face was covered with crisscrossing wounds. The wounds were deep, the skin and flesh were turned out, and blood was still seeping out. One eyeball had been chopped off and was hanging from his face, and half of his nose was also missing.
Seeing such a horrific scene, several officers felt the urge to vomit. Chief Liu asked Lin Feng softly, "How is he?"
Lin Feng shook his head and said, "He's already dead!"
Director Liu stood up and slammed his fist on the car. Xiao Zhang was the last person to call them; if even Xiao Zhang was like this, the fate of the people inside was obviously grim.
Qiqi said to Captain Liu, "I hope you can calm down. You can handle things here, and we'll handle things inside."
After thinking for a while, Director Liu said, "I'll go too! Maybe I can be of some help!"
Qiqi and Lin Feng said in unison, "No!"
Then Lin Feng said, "Captain Liu, you should trust us. We specialize in handling these kinds of things. Don't worry, we've experienced things that are far more dangerous and terrifying than this!"
Director Liu clenched his fist, then relaxed it, and said, "Alright, but remember to keep in touch. Captain Li will be here soon, and I don't want anything to happen to you!"
Qiqi and Lin Feng nodded and walked towards the hotel together.

Watching Lin Feng and Qi Qi calmly walk into the hotel, Fatty Li, after finishing his phone call, asked Chief Liu, "Chief Liu, they're really bold!"
Director Liu said expressionlessly, "They are from the 'Special Investigation Division,' which is specifically responsible for handling these kinds of matters, so of course they are bold."
Fatty Li asked, puzzled, "What 'Special Investigation Department'?"
Director Liu said, "It's a department directly under the Municipal Bureau, specifically responsible for these strange incidents."
Fatty Li said, "How come I've never heard of this?"
Director Liu said, "Not many people know about this. Even if you tell others, no one will believe you because they will never acknowledge the existence of this department. Besides, all of their identification documents are police identification documents, nothing special."
Fatty Li nodded thoughtfully.
Director Liu added, "The only difference is that their police ranks are higher than those of ordinary public security officers, and the work they do is more dangerous and stressful than ours!"
The faint light of dawn illuminated the hotel corridor, but it had been extinguished sometime earlier. They remembered the lights were on when they came out. A bloody smell filled the air, and blood was everywhere on the walls and floor of the corridor, creating a series of gruesome scenes.
Qiqi and Lin Feng carefully turned the corner of the house and headed towards their room. Just as they rounded the corner, they saw a policeman lying face up on the ground, his white intestines spilling out. There was a gash over a foot long in his abdomen; he had been almost severed in half.
The two gently walked around the corpse and continued forward.
The door to Lin Feng's room was open. They didn't know if the crazed boss was still inside. After all, when they arrived, there were no survivors. The boss had managed to escape unscathed; if he had even a shred of reason left, he should have realized the gravity of the situation.
The air in the corridor seemed stagnant, making them feel stuffy and uneasy. The two walked towards the open door, and when they were still a few meters away, something was suddenly thrown out from inside. It hit the opposite wall with a "thud," bounced off the wall, rolled a few times, and came to a stop in the corridor.
It was a human head, belonging to one of the two forensic pathologists. The eyes were wide open, and the mouth was agape.
Footsteps sounded from inside the door, and a figure appeared before them. It was the innkeeper, who gripped a long knife tightly in his hand, its blade gleaming coldly in the dark corridor. The innkeeper's features were contorted, revealing yellowed teeth, and he grinned wickedly.
Seeing Lin Feng and Qi Qi, the boss said ominously, "I've been waiting for you for a long time. You've finally arrived!"
Upon hearing this voice, Qiqi exclaimed, "You are the Ghost King!"
"Haha!" The boss let out a loud, unrestrained laugh and said, "That's right, thanks to you last night, you chopped off five of my fingers!" He paused and continued, "But when I came to take revenge, I unexpectedly benefited from the misfortune. The guy who died in the toilet actually had a Mirage Dragon Pill on him. Now my strength has greatly increased, and I'm not afraid of sunlight at all. I have to thank you all for this."
The Ghost King's twisted face grew even uglier with his laughter. As he laughed arrogantly, a chill suddenly swept through the entire corridor, and Lin Feng felt the hairs on his body stand on end.
Before the Ghost King could finish laughing, Qiqi had already rushed forward. With a wave of her hand, a blue light shot towards the Ghost King like lightning. Lin Feng knew that after being possessed, his own spirit sword wouldn't be very effective. His spirit sword could kill ghosts and dispel evil, but it was useless against humans. While Qiqi's spirit sword was slightly less effective against evil spirits than his own, it still possessed considerable destructive power against humans, no less than a sharp sword.
As expected, the Ghost King was distracted and was hit by Kiki's attack. Kiki's "Bluetooth" instantly severed the Ghost King's hand holding the knife. However, the Ghost King also kicked Kiki, sending her flying backward.
After Qiqi fell to the ground, she immediately sprang to her feet. The Ghost King, however, acted as if nothing had happened, grabbing his fallen arm and grinning maliciously, saying, "I don't care about this body at all. No matter how you hurt it, it has nothing to do with me. You can't hurt me!"
Qiqi didn't answer and rushed forward again. She understood that at this moment, facing such an opponent, Lin Feng probably couldn't help her much. She could only rely on her superior physical abilities to fight the Ghost King.
Lin Feng wasn't idle either. He had bitten his fingertip and quickly drawn a "Soul-Suppressing Spell" on his right hand. As long as he applied this spell to his boss, the Ghost King wouldn't be able to escape his body easily, and then he could find a way to deal with him.
Seizing the opportunity, Lin Feng rushed forward. He grabbed the boss and slammed his right hand hard into the boss's back. The moment the spiritual energy of the talisman in Lin Feng's hand came into contact with the Yin energy on the Ghost King's body, it immediately emitted a red light. The Ghost King hissed and struck Lin Feng's ribs with his elbow. Lin Feng was sent flying backward. He could clearly hear the sound of his ribs cracking, and felt the pain; he could feel that at least two of his ribs were broken.
Seeing Lin Feng knocked down, Qi Qi immediately intensified her attacks. She couldn't let the Ghost King have a chance to kill Lin Feng. However, the Ghost King seemed to be getting more and more used to his one-armed body, and it seemed that his body was slowly undergoing some changes. His arm seemed to be growing longer, and the muscles on his face, which had been twisted, now had an unusual blood-red color, appearing dark and shiny.
Lin Feng endured the pain and moved backward. This guy's strength had exceeded his expectations, and the talisman was probably useless now. His spiritual energy had been completely wiped out by the guy's violent yin energy. He had truly suffered a crushing defeat this time; in a single exchange, his ribs had been broken.
Kiki felt the pressure mounting, and the blue light in her hand grew weaker. "Bluetooth" was originally a spirit sword Kiki created by combining the yin energy and spiritual power within her. Now, however, the Ghost King was absorbing her yin energy bit by bit, and with this ebb and flow, Kiki gradually felt herself weakening.
This was something she had never felt before. Since becoming a demon, she had never felt physically exhausted; her whole body seemed to have inexhaustible energy. But now, this feeling was growing stronger and stronger, and she wanted to gasp for air. Normally, she didn't need to breathe at all; she only consciously breathed to avoid revealing her special constitution. But now, she felt the urge to breathe involuntarily.
Volume 2, Chapter 44: Rampage (3)
Two figures blurred together in the narrow corridor. Lin Feng could only barely make out that the white figure, tinged with blue light, was Qi Qi, while the gray figure was the Ghost King. Lying on the ground, Lin Feng could only watch helplessly, anxious but unable to help. Watching their battle, he almost forgot the pain in his broken ribs. He couldn't see that Qi Qi was already at a disadvantage. He had complete confidence in Qi Qi's extraordinary physique. But what happened next mercilessly shattered his confidence, pushing it to the brink of collapse.
Two figures in the corridor snapped together and then separated, one of them being sent flying like a sandbag. Lin Feng looked closely and saw that the person who had been sent flying was none other than Qi Qi. As she was sent flying, she also spat out a mouthful of blood. Lin Feng couldn't help but cry out "Ah!" The sudden movement aggravated his wounds, causing him to break out in a cold sweat. Since he had seen Qi Qi before, he had never seen her spit blood in battle, which showed that the Ghost King's strength after consuming the "Mirage Dragon Pill" was ridiculously powerful. Even Qi Qi, a super-powerful figure whom ordinary wandering ghosts would avoid, was no match for him.
