Je vends des vêtements et j'achète du vin à boire avec toi - Chapitre 66
Long San dismissed the maids, carried the sobbing little one into the house, and comforted him, "Your Highness is here, Your Highness isn't lost, Bao'er has Your Highness and Daddy, don't cry..."
He placed Bao'er in Feng Ning's arms, and Bao'er immediately clung tightly, refusing to let go, repeatedly calling out, "Your Majesty..."
Feng Ning felt heartbroken. She wiped away Bao'er's tears and kissed her little face, saying, "Bao'er, be good. Don't cry, Mommy will sleep with you. Mommy's here." Bao'er nodded frantically, tears still clinging to her eyelashes, but she quickly fell asleep holding Feng Ning's arm.
Long San was so angry he wanted to pinch Bao'er's cheek, but Feng Ning slapped his hand away fiercely. Long San pulled her over, bit her lip lightly, and said, "I'll sleep with Bao'er too."
The family of three squeezed into one bed to sleep. Feng Ning held Bao'er in her arms, her hand held by Long San, and slept soundly through the night. She didn't know when it was, but she was groggily awakened. When she came to her senses, she found that it was Long San who had woken her up.
Both of them were naked. Long San kissed her and rubbed against her body. Feng Ning felt hot and soft, but she was thinking about Bao'er. She tried to push him away, saying, "No, Bao'er is still here..." Before she could finish speaking, she realized that Bao'er was nowhere to be seen on the bed.
Long San chuckled in a low voice, but Feng Ning still refused to comply and asked again, "Where's Bao'er? Where is she? Is she alright?"
Long San held her gently and coaxed her, replying, "Don't worry, Bao'er is fine, but your husband is not." As he spoke, he thrust his hips forward, joining himself with her. Feng Ning let out a soft "Ah," and was immediately kissed by Long San. Feng Ning clung tightly to his shoulders, her legs draped over them, and was quickly drawn into a mesmerizing vortex of passion.
In the heat of their passionate embrace, Feng Ning reflected on the past few days, feeling happier than ever before. But she hadn't realized that peace and stability were merely an illusion. When people are too happy, they easily forget the dangers. She forgot about her parents' unresolved issues, forgot about the man who lied to her about not being Madam Long and tried to kill her, forgot about the mystery surrounding the burly, square-faced man who accused her of meddling, forgot about Bao'er's biological father, forgot about all the unpleasantness…
But what's bound to happen will happen. After Feng Ning had enjoyed more than three months of good life at the Long family's house, the Feng couple came knocking on her door again.
Author's Note: I'm finally back. The relocation was more troublesome than I imagined. Besides the long train journey making me sick, the days of running around the city from dawn till dusk have given me blisters on my feet. I'm definitely not cut out for revolutionary work; walking with injured feet is excruciating. I guess this will continue for a while, and just thinking about it terrifies me.
This chapter is finally up! I've been very busy lately, so I still can't update daily. I'll try my best to update every other day. Luckily, my fingers are still okay, but my brain is really tired and numb. Please give me a pat on the back and some comfort. Please let my injured foot heal quickly and not get any new blisters, Amen!
48. The Long San couple, caught in a tangled web of emotions...
The Feng family arrived on March 26th, and two days later it would have been Bao'er's third birthday.
Feng Ning was busy preparing for her precious daughter's birthday, but Bao'er was still thinking about the gold ingot she hadn't received from her second uncle yet. She quietly asked Long San, "Daddy, you said that you can ask for gifts on your birthday. Does that mean that's like the New Year, and you can ask your second uncle for gold ingots?"
Long San kissed Bao'er, and couldn't help but chuckle as he recalled how Long Er had avoided Bao'er for the past few months. Bao'er's mournful yet menacing gaze was truly frightening; even the renowned Long Er couldn't resist it. Long San softly replied to Bao'er, "You can ask for a present on your birthday. Daddy will go get one for you, okay?"
Bao'er bit her lip and said softly, "Brother also said he would help Bao'er ask for it, but Bao'er doesn't want to. Bao'er promised Her Majesty that she wanted to ask for it herself."
Long San was speechless, holding Bao'er tenderly. The child was both shy and stubborn, and Long Er, being someone who valued his reputation above all else, resolutely refused to hand over the ingots, saying he couldn't bear the embarrassment. Long San thought to himself that he must find a way to get Long Er to give in and make his daughter happy.
Feng Ning naturally knew her daughter's thoughts. This child was sometimes easy to coax, but at other times she was very opinionated. Feng Ning did not expect that Long Er would be so generous as to give her a gemstone. However, Bao'er had the idea of asking for a gold ingot in her heart, but Long Er refused to give it to her no matter what. So Feng Ning pondered for a long time and finally took action.
Carrying Bao'er, she quietly sneaked into Long Er's courtyard. Long Er wasn't there. Feng Ning told Bao'er to be quiet, and carrying her, she dodged and weaved through the servants and guards in the courtyard before finally sneaking into Long Er's study.
Once inside, Bao'er couldn't hold back any longer and whispered, "Your Majesty can fly too, that's amazing!"
"Of course." Feng Ning kissed her, beaming with pride.
"Is the Empress more powerful or the Father?"
"Of course Mother is more powerful?"
"Why?" Bao'er was incredibly curious.
“Because I’m the mother, and mothers are always more powerful than fathers.” Feng Ning wasn’t embarrassed at all, and Bao’er nodded vigorously, having learned her lesson.
Feng Ning put her on the ground, reached out to open Long Er's cabinet, and, taking advantage of Bao'er's short stature, put a gold ingot and a letter into the cabinet. Then, she pretended to rummage through it and said, "Oh, Bao'er, come and see."
Bao'er tilted her little head anxiously: "Your Majesty, I can't see."
Feng Ning picked her up and pointed to the gold ingot and letter, saying, "Bao'er, your second uncle left you a gold ingot and a letter."
Bao'er grinned in surprise, her baby voice rising high: "Yuanbao?"
“Yes, look, isn’t this a gold ingot?” Feng Ning coaxed Bao’er, “Let’s see what your second uncle’s letter to you says, okay?”
Bao'er nodded. Feng Ning pretended to let Bao'er open the letter and unfold it. She then read it to Bao'er softly, word by word: "Bao'er, my good girl..." This address made Bao'er smile shyly, burying her head in Feng Ning's shoulder. Feng Ning patted her little head and continued reading: "Your second uncle has placed the gold ingot in the house. If Bao'er is smart, she will surely find it herself. If she finds it, the gold ingot is yours. This matter must be kept secret and not told anyone."
Bao'er blinked, completely bewildered by the contents of the letter, and asked Feng Ning, "Your Majesty, what did Second Uncle mean by that?"
Feng Ning said, "Second Uncle said that he hid the gold ingot here and wanted to give it to Bao'er. Once Bao'er finds it, the gold ingot will belong to Bao'er. However, this matter is a secret, and Bao'er is not to tell anyone."
"Why is it a secret?" Bao'er didn't understand.
Feng Ning paused for a moment, then thought for a long time before answering, "Because my second uncle is shy."
Bao'er frowned and thought about it seriously for a moment, then nodded and replied, "So Second Uncle can be shy."
"Yes, yes, it's because Second Uncle is shy, so he's always been too embarrassed to give it to Bao'er in front of her and has to hide it so that Bao'er can find it herself. But he told Mother, so Mother brought Bao'er to see it."
Bao'er stared at the gold ingot and asked, "So, does this mean Uncle has given this gold ingot to Bao'er now?"
"Of course." Feng Ning smiled at Bao'er and said to her, "Take it quickly."
Bao'er stretched out her chubby little hand, picked up the gold ingot, and handed it to Feng Ning: "Your Majesty, Bao'er finally got it. Here you go, Your Majesty."
Feng Ning laughed heartily and kissed Bao'er's little face hard: "Thank you, Mom. Now we'll leave quietly. Bao'er, don't forget that your second uncle will be shy, so don't tell him about this."
Bao'er nodded in agreement, and Feng Ning then quietly led her out of Long Er's courtyard. But as soon as they returned to their own courtyard, a maid rushed up to them, saying anxiously, "Madam, Master Feng and Madam Feng have arrived and are waiting in the main hall. Third Master has sent people everywhere looking for you..."
Upon hearing this, Feng Ning's excitement inexplicably diminished by more than half. She had completely forgotten about her family. Now that they had come, she wondered if they would cause trouble again.
Feng Ning carried Bao'er to the main hall. The three Long brothers and the Feng couple sat on opposite sides, and the atmosphere was somewhat tense. Feng Ning stood at the door and suddenly felt awkward. Bao'er whispered, "Your Highness, they are Grandpa and Grandma."
Feng Ning composed herself, glanced at Long San, who remained seated, not rising to greet her, only giving her a look. Feng Ning carried Bao'er inside, bowing to the Feng family couple: "Father, Mother." Bao'er obediently followed suit, calling out, "Grandpa, Grandma."
Feng Zhuojun was very happy to see Bao'er and Feng Ning. He responded repeatedly, got up, took Bao'er, and sat her on his lap. He asked, "Bao'er, you've grown taller. Do you miss your grandfather?"
Bao'er answered, "Yes." This made Feng Zhuojun smile broadly. He then asked, "Where did Bao'er go to play with her mother?"
