Le Chemin des Fantômes Lésés, Partie 1 Le Chemin des Fantômes Lésés - Chapitre 2

Chapitre 2

"Make way! We have other things to do! Let us report first!"

The four young men shouted and pushed aside the people blocking their way, rushing headlong toward the principal's office.

Everyone on the floor stared in astonishment at their boundless energy.

Lou Lifan was almost completely exhausted, so the impact was transferred to Pei Linhai. Pei Linhai cried out, clearly in pain. However, he didn't complain and simply caught Lou Lifan.

The principal's office door opened automatically when those people ran there, and closed automatically after they went in.

“That’s strange…” Pei Linhai said.

Lou Lifan knew exactly what he was talking about—not the door, but the energy of those people—climbing 147 floors, could a normal person have that much energy?

However, although the room seemed mysterious, it was not soundproof at all, and everyone could clearly hear the conversations coming from inside.

"What are your names? Gender? Age? Superpowers? What level of spiritual power do you have?" The voice asking the question seemed to be muffled by something thick, and the high-pitched voice that could not be distinguished as male, female, adult, or child was squeezed out.

"I am Luo Tianwu! Male, 20 years old, my ability is curse. Spiritual power level C!"

"I am Su Jueming! Male, 20 years old. My ability is to create a dimensional portal with my bare hands. My spiritual power is C-level!"

"I am Le Sui! Male, 17 years old. My ability is water purification. My spiritual power is C-level!"

"I am Gongye! Male, 18 years old, my ability is talismans. Spiritual power level C!"

Although this is a paranormal school, it is also a school for superpowers. This is because people with spiritual abilities usually possess one or more superpowers at the same time, and if they can use them properly, they will play a significant role in their future paranormal work.

The spiritual power they are referring to is the World Spiritual Power Testing Standard, which was only introduced a hundred years ago. It is divided into six levels: A, B, C, D, E, and F, with A being the highest. However, there is a Special A level above A, but very few people can reach this level. Even the president of the Paranormal Association is only at the A level.

The shrill voice was silent for a moment, then began to laugh garishly.

"You guys... you didn't use Su Jueming's dimensional portal to take a shortcut up here, did you?"

"Alright, let's try again!" the voice said cheerfully. "Remember not to cheat!"

"Whoa!!! ...

"Waaaaaahh ...

Several screams rang out, and the young men were flung out of the room with a whoosh, passing Lou Lifan and Pei Linhai before tumbling down the stairs with a thud. The stairs were filled with heart-wrenching cries.

Lou Lifan and Pei Linhai listened to the pitiful screams of those unfortunate guys and looked at each other in silence.

The two walked together to the principal's office door, which slid open quietly. They went inside and then closed it quietly again.

They didn't realize it when they were outside, but once they came in, they discovered that the so-called "small" room was actually quite large.

This was another space created from the original small room. The entire space seemed to be filled with something unknown, yet also seemed empty. Standing before them was a person wrapped tightly in a pile of black cloth, and next to them was a desk with several tall stacks of documents on it. On one of the stacks of documents, a pen stood upright in mid-air—just standing there, without any support, just like the person and the desk, standing there empty, without anything supporting it.

Lou Lifan and Pei Linhai were the same.

This is probably the "law" established by the person who created this "space". As long as he wants, everything in this space is supported by his will. Those people were ejected by the "law" because they lost his will support.

"What are your names? Gender? Age? Superpowers? What level of spiritual power do you have?"

Lou Lifan felt less tired and upset than he had been outside. He released Pei Linhai's hand and replied, "I am Lou Lifan, male, 20 years old. My abilities are shikigami, contact with spirits without a medium, sealing with bare hands, and searching for spiritual energy. My spiritual energy is at the upper B level."

Grade B is slightly higher than Grade B, but not quite Grade A; it's a transitional middle class.

“I am Pei Linhai,” Pei Linhai replied, “male, 25 years old, omnipotent except for spiritual power. My spiritual power is undetermined.”

Lou Lifan shuddered.

The so-called omnipotence means possessing all the known superpowers in the world, and even without abilities like inspiration, it is still extremely rare.

What does "undetectable spiritual power" mean?

Pei Linhai hesitated for a moment, then scratched his head awkwardly: "Uh... it's because I broke all the devices that measure spiritual power..."

"It's broken?!" Lou Lifan and the person wrapped in black cloth were both taken aback. That meant his spiritual power was more than three levels higher than the highest limit of the measuring device—Special Grade A!

Who exactly is he? How can he possess such power?!

As they were reporting, the pen kept writing automatically, then fell to the paper with a thud when they heard that he had broken the whole device, but quickly stood up again.

However, the person wrapped in black cloth did not ask any further questions about this and quickly let them go.

Before leaving, Pei Linhai suddenly asked, "Excuse me, where is the principal? Aren't we supposed to see the principal when we report for duty?"

The man was silent for a moment, then asked in a trembling voice, "Principal...don't I look like the principal?"

You could tell from his voice that he was quite indignant, but Pei Linhai still made an inappropriate "Ah?" sound.

"You're the principal? Why are you dressed like a pervert?"

Lou Lifan didn't have time to shut him up; the question he should never have asked had already been uttered.

"Who are you calling a pervert?!!!!!"

With a loud crash, two figures flew out of the principal's office. Even more unlucky than the others, they didn't tumble down the stairs, but instead flew straight towards the large pane of glass at the top of the stairs directly opposite the principal's office. With a few crashes, they soared into the free blue sky.

"They actually called me a pervert... I'm not a pervert at all!!! I don't look like one at all!!! This cool outfit is something I thought about for a long time before designing! That blind person actually called me a pervert! That's too much! You agree, right, Xiao Pai?" He said that to the pen, moving closer to it as he spoke. A large bead of sweat appeared on Xiao Pai's pen cap, and he staggered backward like a person...

The two people, left to fend for themselves, plummeted through the air like pieces of paper. In his haste, Lou Lifan didn't have time to think. He desperately grabbed Pei Linhai, who was also falling, with one hand, and waved his other hand in the air, shouting, "Come out! Yu Jia! Pin Jia!"

Two women dressed in long white dresses burst forth from his palms, pulling two long white lines with a long cry. They formed two twisted lines in the air, like parachutes, slowing down the descent of Lou Lifan and his companion.

However, that kind of slowdown was still too slight. Even if the fall didn't kill him, he would probably be crippled.

Lou Lifan called out to them, "Yu Jia! Pin Jia! Can't you go any slower?"

The long-haired woman said with dissatisfaction, "Our strength is only enough to support you alone! You're holding onto a heavy weight, of course we can't hold you back!"

The short-haired woman nodded in agreement: "That's right, that's right! We're delicate girls, after all!"

Lou Lifan was speechless. These two women were creations he had conjured from the dead using his spiritual power, but due to his failed upbringing, they had developed extremely wicked personalities... and had never shown him, their master, the slightest respect.

Pei Linhai laughed and said to Lou Lifan, who was holding him, "It's okay, let go."

“But if I let go…” Lou Lifan’s mind suddenly recalled Pei Linhai’s report from the principal’s office earlier—omnipotent, spiritual power unfathomable!

He lost his focus for a moment, and in that instant, the hand that was holding Pei Linhai slipped away. Pei Linhai fell downwards, but he was pulled into the air by Yu Jia and Ping Jia.

"Peilinhai--!"

Yu Jiahe screamed repeatedly, "Wait! Li Fan! Don't get distracted..."

Before they could finish speaking, their figures vanished into thin air, and Lou Lifan, now without any resistance, plummeted downwards just like Pei Linhai had before…

Then, it landed on something soft and squishy, like an airbag.

That was a barrier formed by the air, upon which Lou Lifan landed. Below the barrier was Pei Linhai's smiling face.

“Oh right, I forgot you don’t need my help at all,” Lou Lifan said.

As the airbag disappeared, he floated lightly into Pei Linhai's arms.

Just as Pei Linhai was about to say something, a storm of applause, whistles, and screams suddenly erupted around him.

Pei Linhai hurriedly put him down, only then did he realize that they were surrounded by people who were whistling and clapping at them, apparently admiring their feat of surviving a fall from more than a hundred floors.

By the time they went to retrieve Lou Lifan's luggage, the unlucky few who had been thrown out by the principal had finally managed to roll down to the first floor.

"It's all your fault! You said the Hyperdimensional Dimensional was so useful! Look! Ouch...it hurts..."

"I... I had no idea there was such a requirement! It's not like I need to get the immortal's holy water! It's just reporting for duty! Waaaaah... It hurts too..."

"It's all Mom and the others' fault! They made a bet that we had to go back and forth in such a short time... Waaaaaahh ...

"I'm definitely going to get beaten up... Waaaaaah..."

They were groaning and crying, it seemed their journey up would be several times more difficult than others.

Following the instructions in the school's new student registration guide, the two of them headed towards their dormitory.

"I felt something was off when I saw you earlier..." Lou Lifan said, "and now I realize that you didn't bring any luggage."

Pei Linhai was carrying Lou Lifan's suitcase; he had nothing else on him that could possibly be luggage.

“My luggage…” Pei Linhai smiled, “I keep all my luggage here.”

He waved his free hand in the air, and an irregular space appeared within the area drawn by his fingertips—just a flat opening with no thickness on the sides but depth on the front, inside which were several large boxes.

“That’s a very useful ability,” Lou Lifan said. “Why don’t we include mine as well?”

"Good idea!" Pei Linhai picked up the box and put it into the hole.

This was, after all, a supernatural academy, where such abilities were commonplace, so they didn't attract anyone's attention and continued walking towards the dormitory building.

Lou Lifan couldn't understand why someone with such near-omnipotent superpowers and unfathomable spiritual power would come here to study. Based on his abilities, he could easily become the vice president or even the president of the Supernatural Association. So why did he come here?

Seemingly sensing Lou Lifan's thoughts, Pei Linhai waved his hand to close the spatial portal and said with a smile, "Don't be fooled by the number of my abilities; it's precisely because they're so numerous and varied that I can't maintain stable control over them. For example, when I fell from the building just now, you could instantly summon those two shikigami, but I can't instantly change the air density. Luckily, I fell from over a hundred floors this time; if I had fallen from the seventh or eighth floor, I wouldn't have had time to create an air cushion. These abilities aren't very useful, so I need to learn here how to control this kind of diverse but unrefined situation."

Lou Lifan nodded silently. This method of explanation suddenly made him understand something he had never understood before. His sisters were all superpowered individuals with multiple abilities, but they only specialized in things like premonition, telemetry, and intuition. He thought they were too lazy to learn so much—and their personalities certainly made it easy to think that way—but judging from this, they must have been doing it specifically to specialize in something.

After turning a few more corners, a dormitory building modeled after medieval architecture came into view.

Apart from that exceptionally tall teaching building, the entire academy consists of granite castle-like structures, including the dormitories. However, unlike the dormitories, which have pointed roofs, the dormitories have flat roofs with a bell hanging on each one that is obviously very loud when rung.

"What kind of designer is so crazy! Hanging a clock above a sleeping person's head?" Lou Lifan and Pei Linhai thought to themselves at the same time.

In fact, there aren't many students at Bit Academy, only about a thousand. The large campus, classrooms, and teaching buildings aren't specifically for "human" students...

Dozens of freshmen had already gathered in front of the dormitory building, surrounding a lottery tube that seemed to be enclosed by a barrier, appearing to be anxiously waiting for something. As soon as Lou Lifan and Pei Linhai appeared, they all cheered.

"Come here quickly! Come here quickly!"

Lou Lifan glanced at Pei Linhai, puzzled. Pei Linhai shrugged at him, indicating that he didn't understand either.
