Le Chemin des Fantômes Lésés, Partie 1 Le Chemin des Fantômes Lésés - Chapitre 19
"Spatial Rift!"
"It's a spatial rift!"
Upon hearing this word, the ghosts' bright, lamp-like eyes began to flicker, and they dared not approach, instead cautiously observing the situation from a distance.
Pei Linhai's spatial rift technique was somewhat inferior to Su Jueming's. Su Jueming's was a complete spatial rift, while Pei Linhai's was a segmented spatial rift, meaning he opened dimensional portals in several different locations simultaneously—a more advanced technique with lower energy consumption. Pei Linhai's move, however, involved covering his entire body with a spatial rift, consuming more than ten times the energy of a segmented spatial rift, but lacking the skill. If Su Jueming had used this technique, he would have collapsed from exhaustion immediately. But Pei Linhai was Pei Linhai; the reason for his "unfathomable spiritual power" was indeed due to his profound abilities. After releasing the complete spatial rift, he didn't even catch his breath, continuing to stare at the Yin spirits with a calm expression.
The spirits seemed to have a rather powerful organizer; their panic lasted only a moment before they quickly regained control of the situation, forming several circular encirclements with remarkable coordination. The inner circle rotated counter-clockwise, while the outer circle rotated clockwise, and they began to drift and spin. The spirits that were binding Lou Lifan somehow managed to move horizontally on the ground, slipping out of the circles, leaving Pei Linhai alone trapped within the encirclement.
The formation they set up was rather strange. Pei Linhai dared not be careless and immediately emitted a spiritual energy fluctuation to probe the strength of the formation. However, his fluctuation seemed to have entered a place with nothing at all, without any rebound.
As previously explained, this situation likely stems from a distortion of the spiritual energy field. The detection wave itself is a type of magnetic force, but due to some force field, it has been redirected elsewhere, hence the lack of any rebound.
Damn it! Without spiritual energy detection, Pei Linhai, who has no spiritual sense, will naturally become blind, unable to figure out the number of the other party's ghosts or their strength.
The wailing of the spirits grew faster and faster, producing a chilling, ghostly wail that sent shivers down one's spine. Even Pei Linhai found the direct impact of this sound unbearable, as if hearing fingernails scraping against glass, raising goosebumps all over his body. His strength seemed to have been punctured by something, beginning to leak out.
The circle slowly shrank, and the wailing grew increasingly heart-wrenching. Pei Linhai felt the frequency of his strength being drained from his body increasing at an alarming rate. He suddenly remembered a certain ability that Lou Lifan had mentioned a few days ago, and it dawned on him!
"Since you want to smoke, then come over here!"
While explaining that ability, Lou Lifan also taught him a very despicable but very useful method, which is now proving useful.
"bring it on!"
Several ghostly spirits, accompanied by sharp whistles, rushed towards him from the circular formation. Pei Linhai extended a finger, using the momentum of the first one to charge, and with a slight force, he attracted it. Using one foot as the center, he turned around leisurely and spun it wildly. The innocent ghostly spirits that rushed up after him didn't even have time to resist before being repelled by their own "human" (soul) form, which acted as a rotating barrier, and crashed into the rotating formation behind them, instantly creating a hole in the formation.
Pei Linhai had been waiting for this opportunity. He released his grip, and the unfortunate ghost and its accomplice met the same fate. Then, he aimed his palm at the gaping hole and, with a bang, produced a flat object. It all happened in an instant; the moment he released the object, the opening was immediately sealed.
After releasing that thing, Pei Linhai was clearly exhausted, and his body was thrown backward by the impact. The ghosts noticed this and the encirclement shrank instantly, enveloping him inside.
The vast graveyard fell silent, as silent as its very nature, devoid of any sign of life. Only two tall, black mounds remained, still wriggling incessantly.
The flat object that Pei Linhai had just unleashed flew rapidly into the sky, stopping at a height of about 100 meters. It was then clear that the "object" was actually a flat, circular talisman materialized from spiritual energy, with several absorption symbols drawn on its edge and a spiral in the center that was rotating slightly.
This ability to materialize is called "manifestation," and as mentioned before, it's a rare ability that consumes a lot of energy. Pei Linhai's control over it wasn't quite sufficient, which led to his exhaustion and allowed the Yin spirits to take advantage of him.
Meanwhile, at the perverted academy.
Su Jueming was reading in the outer room of room 332.
Luo Tianwu was taking a shower in the bathroom. Water gushed out of the showerhead, flowing over his body and into the drain, spiraling away.
In room 334, Yue Sui was already asleep. Gongye brewed a cup of coffee and stirred it slowly with a spoon.
The solution formed a black spiral vortex when stirred with a silver spoon.
In room 313, Tian Jin felt a little uneasy and really wanted to take a look at the crystal ball, but her intuition told her not to.
But she really wanted to know.
Absolutely not!
I really want to know...
...
...
So she lifted the curtain on the crystal ball, and a spiral shape appeared inside...
Luo Tianwu suddenly screamed and fell hard in the bathroom, hitting his head on the sink and swelling up with a huge bloody bump. Hearing his scream, Su Jueming dropped his book and rushed into the bathroom. Just then, the swirling water in the drain was blocked by Luo Tianwu's foot. Su Jueming didn't feel anything, only knowing that Luo Tianwu had unfortunately fallen, and hurriedly grabbed his arm and dragged him out.
In his sleep, Le Sui heard a "clang" as something broke. When he opened his eyes, he found Gongye lying unconscious on the ground with a broken coffee cup next to him.
A scream no less terrifying than a ghost's wail erupted from Tian Jin's room, then silence followed.
That night, this strange situation occurred in many rooms of the perverted academy. Anyone who came into contact with the spiral shape suddenly lost all strength, and their spiritual energy was absorbed in large quantities, making it impossible for them to recover immediately.
PS: At that moment, the perverted principal was about to take a bath. He had just added a rose to the tub when a small, spiral-like whirlpool appeared on the surface of the water. The perverted principal felt dizzy and silently plunged into the water...
The flat disc in the sky emitted a dazzling light, and a resonant sound echoed. Pei Linhai, who was trapped and unable to move among the pile of ghosts, heard this sound and couldn't help but chuckle to himself.
This is the true form of that disc—the Suction Disc! It can absorb all the spiritual power (or demonic power, or magical power) possessed by everyone within a certain range and in the location of a certain agreed-upon symbol. The symbol of this "agreement" used by Pei Linhai is a spiral.
The flat disc continued to vibrate, gradually trembling and growing louder, causing the spirits to become restless.
Suddenly, several cracking sounds were heard. The absorbed force exceeded the disc's own capacity, causing several cracks to appear on the disc. In a short time before it could react, it exploded with a bang.
Countless colorful torrents, like volcanic eruptions, surged towards the pile of ghosts pressing down on Peilinhai. These things were like real lava; as soon as they landed on the ghosts, they scalded them, making them scream and jump up, scattering and fleeing.
Taking advantage of the lightening of the oppression on his body, Pei Linhai desperately freed one hand and stretched it towards the direction from which the torrent of light was coming from. The same symbol as the one on the edge of the disc appeared in his hand, and the multicolored light from the torrent transformed into a beam, rushing into his palm.
"Extreme Spatial Vortex!"
With that shout, a massive vortex of vibrant, mixed spiritual energy appeared around him. The Yin spirits, unable to escape in time, were swept into the vortex and uncontrollably sucked in. The vortex continued to expand, and the Yin spirits that had been suppressing Lou Lifan began to waver. At first, only a few on the outermost edge managed to escape, but when they realized the vortex showed no signs of weakening and that more Yin spirits were being sucked in with screams, they panicked. As if giving some secret signal, all the Yin spirits leaped up simultaneously in a spectacular display, and a vast expanse of shadows darted away.
"Trying to run?! Not so easy!" The vortex suddenly increased several times in size, engulfing everything within a 300-meter radius. In addition to the ghosts, it also swept up the corpses, tombstones, and other things on the ground.
"Ah!" A scream rang out.
It wasn't posted by Pei Linhai.
It wasn't emitted by a ghost.
Pei Linhai thought for a moment, then began to tremble. The enormous vortex vanished in the instant he hesitated, disappearing without a trace at the same incredible speed as when it appeared.
In the chaotic graveyard, scattered bones, tombstones, broken trees, and rotting coffins were strewn everywhere. Amidst the mess, Lou Lifan sat there, his face pale, with a large tree stump, clearly just pulled out, pressing down on his left leg.
"Hey—Li Fan! What happened to you!" Pei Linhai's voice was weak as he shouted. There was no need to ask; it was definitely the result of his whirlwind...
"You idiot! How dare you ask!! If it weren't for your misuse of your abilities, I—!!"
Pei Linhai steeled himself and stepped forward, laboriously moving the tree stump aside. Unsurprisingly, he discovered that Lou Lifan's left leg was broken, and his lower leg was twisted at a strange angle.
"I...I'm sorry..." Pei Linhai felt so guilty that he almost buried his head in the ground.
Lou Lifan glared at him, wanting to get angry but not letting it out. In the end, he said, "...Although I really want to call you a bastard, I won't hold it against you since you saved me."
He gripped his twisted leg bone, heard a cracking sound, and cold sweat poured down his forehead. Pei Linhai was shocked; when he looked again, his leg bone had already returned to its original state.
“You…” He actually did it himself… Looking at his actions just now, Pei Linhai felt that his legs also seemed to hurt.
“This kind of thing is very common. Since I was ten years old, my older sisters have often beaten me up all over my body under the guise of training. At first, I would ask a doctor for help, but later I got too lazy to ask and just did it myself.”
"Your sisters... are truly demons..."
“Not a demon, but a witch.” Lou Lifan reached out to him. “Help me up.”
"Your foot will be dislocated."
"It's alright, help me up!"
“It really will be misaligned.” Pei Linhai was unusually stubborn.
Veins bulged on Lou Lifan's forehead: "Is it because I didn't blame you for breaking my leg that you think I'm weak and easy to bully?"
Pei Linhai knew that no matter what he said, it would be in vain; this man's stubbornness was never reasonable. So he remained silent and did not try to help him up.
Lou Lifan was truly enraged. He didn't expect help and struggled to get up on his own using his "three limbs" and his broken leg. Pei Linhai sighed helplessly and offered his arm for support. Lou Lifan glanced at his arm, let out a disdainful "humph," and prepared to continue trying to stand on his own.
Pei Linhai also got angry and yelled, "Are you going to help him up or not?!"
"I don't need your help!" Lou Lifan roared back.
Pei Linhai was furious. Without a word, he hooked his arm around Lou Lifan's waist and hoisted him onto his shoulder: "No exorcism tonight! Let's go back!"
Lou Lifan's waist was draped over his shoulder, head down, blood rushing to his head. He couldn't care less about anything else, and disregarded his pride, punching and kicking: "Pei Linhai! Are you out of your mind! Going back now will mean all our efforts are wasted! The controllers behind these ghosts haven't even appeared yet! Bastard! How dare you disobey me! Pei Linhai!"
"That's not important! First, we need to heal your leg!" Pei Linhai strode away.
"My leg is healed!"
"Nonsense!"
"..." Lou Lifan didn't know that an honest person could be so terrifying when they became stubborn. "Go back yourself if you want! Put me down!"
"I won't let go!"
"Will you let go or not!?"
"I won't let go!"
Lou Lifan gathered a circle of green light in his hand: "Really not going to release me?"
"I really won't let go!"
Lou Lifan slammed his fist down, striking Pei Linhai squarely in the lumbar spine. Pei Linhai suddenly felt nothing in his lower body, his legs buckled, and he collapsed to his knees. Lou Lifan released his grip, and Lou Lifan, now on the ground, hopped back a few steps on one leg.
"I'm warning you, don't blame me!"
Lou Lifan said this and was hopping on one leg to chase after the fleeing ghosts when he suddenly noticed several beams of light in the distance, rushing toward the immobilized Pei Linhai at lightning speed.
There was no time to undo the seal around his waist. Lou Lifan forgot about his injured leg, took a big step, and pushed Pei Linhai away as he heard his leg bone crack again.
Pei Linhai bumped his head into a tree, in excruciating pain. He turned to him and yelled, "What are you doing—"
Before he could finish speaking, he saw two beams of light suddenly flash past and pierce through Lou Lifan's body.
Pei Linhai stared blankly at the two holes that had been pierced through his body.
Lou Lifan looked at him, who was dumbfounded, and said in a disdainful voice, "Idiot, I told you to be careful..." before collapsing to the ground.
"Li Fan!" The caster collapsed, and the seal on Pei Linhai's waist naturally dissipated. He rushed towards Lou Li Fan, crying, "Li Fan! How are you! Li Fan!"
One beam of light pierced through the abdomen, and another through the left chest—where the heart is. There was no blood, but that was because the intense heat of the beams burned the wounds, instantly sealing the ruptured blood vessels.
Lou Lifan is doomed.
Pei Linhai let out a soft "ah," staring blankly at Lou Lifan's pale face.
Lou Lifan is really doomed.
He was killed because of him.
Pei Linhai looked up and shouted at the black sky, his spiritual energy beginning to become disordered.
Lou Lifan is really doomed.
Because of his mistakes, because of his stupidity, Lou Lifan was killed.
"Ah... Ahhhhhh—"
A whirlwind, two or three times larger than the enormous multicolored vortex from before, appeared around him and Lou Lifan. The tombstone and tree stump had only been blown around and rolled about, but now they were swept up into the sky by the whirlwind.
"Aaaaaaahhhhhh—you bastard—"
Countless ghosts were dragged out of the forest and underground, screaming as they were violently swept away by the whirlwind. An unusually large ghost was also dragged out and torn into several pieces in the wind.
