Глава 20

I realized that these people were looking for Yang Wei!

Just then, suddenly, Yang Wei seemed to find strength from nowhere, and she broke free from the burly man who was holding her, crashing headfirst into the guy with the gun!

The man seemed to be stunned for a moment, but then, just as Yang Wei bumped into him, he suddenly cried out in pain and his body went limp...

Bang!

A gunshot rang out!

I almost instinctively threw myself down, as if I felt the bullet whizz past my ear, but as I fell, I suddenly felt a slip, and then I involuntarily fell to the ground...

The sun is on the hillside!

After Yang Wei hit the ground, she rolled to a spot not far from me. Almost instinctively, I reached out and grabbed one of her feet, but it didn't stop me from falling. We tumbled down the hillside one after the other...

Part One: In the Martial World, Unable to Control One's Own Fate, Chapter Twenty-Five: Underwear

I've never been on a bungee jumping game... I imagine it's like having someone with nothing better to do, just strapped to a rope and jumping off a cliff... What? Thrilling? You jump without a rope! I guarantee it'll be even more thrilling!

This is pure insane exercise! What kind of challenge is this? I think it's more like a challenge to death. But the problem is, what's so great about challenging death? Sooner or later, everyone will be defeated by death. Besides, in this world, from humans to animals, from primates to stick insects... what kind of creature can conquer death? Sooner or later, they'll all turn to ashes...

Because I've never been bungee jumping, I've never experienced the feeling of freefalling from a height... but now I know... it's a terrible feeling!

As I fell, my heart leaped into my throat, as if I couldn't breathe, and all the blood rushed to my head! To be honest, it wasn't exactly freefall; it was more like I was "rolling" down a hillside. The slope was close to ninety degrees, but it still had a slight incline. I tumbled down, bumping and bruising myself countless times. When I hit the first rock, I screamed in pain, but the screams were quickly swallowed back up by the second impact. I had countless cuts and bruises all over my body, and eventually, I became completely numb!

Luckily, no rocks hit my head, otherwise I would have lost my life here today. During the fall, the ground was initially uneven with rocks, and below was a forest, with two or three crooked trees rooted to the hillside. Unfortunately for me, I crashed into one, snapping it in two, and then hung on a second one. Unfortunately, Yang Wei was behind me, and she landed squarely on top of me. Using her momentum, the tree below couldn't withstand the force, and we both plummeted down…

When I finally landed, I felt a violent jolt throughout my body! The shock almost broke my back. I can't remember how many tree branches I broke along the way. My first reaction after landing was: pain!

Every part of my body ached! The pain was excruciating! I didn't faint; if I had, I probably would have felt better! I felt my breathing was trembling, and my vision was going black in waves. When I looked up, the sky had changed color, turning black and red. I then realized that blood was flowing from my head and blocking my eyes.

I struggled for a moment and first checked my body... It seemed that the situation wasn't too bad. It seemed that all the parts were still there and nothing was missing. I just didn't know if the internal parts were intact.

I know common sense: when someone falls from a height like this, they shouldn't move too forcefully immediately after landing. Instead, they should try to use different parts of their body little by little to see if they can exert any force.

Unfortunately, after trying for a while, I felt too weak to move and could only lie there panting. I don't know how much time passed before I felt a little control return to my limbs. I struggled to sit up halfway, but the pain almost made me faint on the spot! My left arm seemed to be broken; even the slightest touch made me break out in a cold sweat. I gritted my teeth, held my left arm, and pinched it, trembling with pain.

The surrounding area was a forest, not very dense, and only when I looked up could I see the hillside. I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief, as if I had survived a disaster.

I'm incredibly lucky to be alive! Looking up from here, the hillside is very high, at least several stories high, but thankfully it wasn't a perfect 90-degree angle. Otherwise, if I had fallen headfirst, I would have been seriously injured, if not killed. Rolling down like this has reduced the force of the fall considerably. I was cushioned a few times by the branches of a few small trees, so it seems my only serious injury is a broken left arm.

I gasped for breath and looked around. Sure enough, I saw Yang Wei lying face down not far from me. Her leather jacket was torn in many places, with countless scratches, and was completely tattered. Her head and body were covered in dust. I sat there catching my breath for a while before finally gathering some strength to crawl two steps toward her. Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my right ankle, and my heart sank! Was my leg broken? This startled me!

Most of my kung fu training focuses on my legs. If my legs are seriously injured, even if they are healed, my kung fu will be greatly reduced! I struggled to move myself next to Yang Wei and forcefully turned her over. Yang Wei's face was covered in black soot and dry grass. I felt a little frustrated and didn't care about being gentle with her anymore. I slapped her face a few times.

Yang Wei then slowly woke up, opened her eyes, and as soon as she moved, her expression suddenly changed, her brows filled with pain.

"How are you, Yang Wei?"

"It hurts!" Yang Wei gritted her teeth and answered me in a low voice. But after catching her breath for a while, she finally recovered and tried to move her body gently. It seemed that she was not seriously injured, and she actually sat up.

I have to say she was luckier than me, because she followed right behind me the whole way down, and I smoothed over any bumps or scrapes she might have gotten. Her injuries were much lighter than mine; she only had scraped elbows and knees that were bleeding profusely, and a few other minor cuts and bruises. She probably just got jolted when she landed and was startled, which is why she's been lying there for so long.

Seeing that she was alright, I smiled wryly and said, "Well, falling from such a height, how could it not hurt? You're lucky you didn't get more serious injuries."

Seeing me hugging one arm, Yang Wei frowned: "What happened to your arm?"

"It's probably broken." I shook my head. Yang Wei leaned closer and was about to touch my arm, but when I dodged, she whispered, "Don't touch it, I've studied medicine!"

She pinched it carefully a couple of times, then whispered, "It looks like it's broken. Is there anything else that's bothering you?"

"Nonsense! I feel uncomfortable all over!" I laughed and scolded, but then my face darkened: "My ankle hurts, could it be broken too?"

Yang Wei felt around my ankle for a while, making me wince in pain, but she shook her head: "I don't know, it's probably not broken, but it could also be a problem with your joint. I can't tell right now."

She immediately stopped talking, her face darkening. A thought struck me, and I whispered, "Those people are after you! If we fall, they might chase after us. My leg is injured and I can't move. You should go first and find somewhere to hide! Do you have a phone? Call home for help right away!"

Yang Wei snorted and said, "Go? Where can I go now? Where would I get a phone? Even if I did, it's broken!" After a pause, she added, "They probably don't want to kill me, otherwise they would have used guns right away. It seems they want to take me back..." At this point, she lowered her head and pondered something.

I sighed: "Don't think about it anymore. You should leave now. Even if you can't go far, find a place to hide. They'll most likely come looking for you."

"And you?"

Suddenly, I felt a surge of anger: "Enough with the nonsense! Of course I'm sitting here waiting! They're after you, not me! When they come looking for me, I'll just lie on the ground and pretend to be dead or unconscious. They can't kill me..." At this point, I couldn't help but shut my mouth.

They'd probably actually kill me to silence me! If they want to take Yang Wei back, there's no reason for them to keep someone like me, who served as their prime minister, alive.

Yang Wei had already stood up, ignored me, and turned away.

I was stunned. Holy crap! Is this woman really that ruthless? She just left like that, without saying a word?!

However, she only walked a few steps away before turning back, holding a wooden stick she had picked up from the ground. She threw the stick to me, then came over, grabbed my shoulder, and lifted me up.

“You’re leaning on this cane, and I’m supporting you. We can’t just sit here and wait to die. I don’t have a phone on me, so I can’t contact my people! The hotel is a few kilometers away. We can’t exactly call for help, can we?” Yang Wei didn’t give me a chance to object. She had already pulled my arm around the back of her neck. I groaned. My arm was broken, and when she pulled it like that, it hurt so much that I almost cried out.

"Hurry up! Do you want to wait to die?!" Yang Wei shouted. I knew I couldn't hesitate now, so I gritted my teeth and endured it, grabbing the wooden stick with my other hand to support my weight.

At first, I was too embarrassed to put all my weight on Yang Wei, but after taking a couple of steps I couldn't hold on any longer, and my weight gradually shifted from the wooden stick to Yang Wei.

We walked into the woods, carefully listening to our surroundings. The woods were pitch black, but fortunately, I had practiced martial arts since childhood, so my eyesight in the dark was much better than normal. I kept an eye on our surroundings while giving Yang Wei pointers.

We walked like this for five or six minutes, about 300 meters, when I couldn't keep going any longer. I saw a small indentation on the left side of the hillside and pointed there: "That place should be a good hiding spot for a while."

Upon closer inspection, the place was indeed very secluded. Two trees blocked the view from the front, and the recessed area at the bottom of the hillside was a full two meters deep, barely qualifying as a cave, but to me it looked more like a spoon.

After walking for a while, blood kept flowing from my head, down my neck and onto my body. Some blood also flowed down my arm onto Yang Wei's neck. When we sat down at the spoon, Yang Wei felt something sticky on her neck. She touched it and found her hand covered in blood. She frowned and asked, "Why are you bleeding so much?"

I gave a weak laugh: "Nonsense! You try falling from that height!" As soon as I said that, I realized something was off. Didn't she fall just like me? After thinking for a moment, I changed my tune and laughed: "I'm bleeding in your place! I've been your human cushion all the way down here, and I've taken all the injuries, so naturally I'm bleeding more now."

Yang Wei didn't speak, but hooked her arms around my neck, hugged my head, and looked at me closely for a few moments. Her tone was somewhat serious: "How did you get injured on your head? The wound hasn't even healed yet and it's already reopened!"

"I'm going to have some bloodshed lately...hehe!" I shook my head weakly, but then I stopped moving because I felt really dizzy as soon as I shook my head.

"Lie down!" Yang Wei pushed me to the ground, then suddenly glared at me: "Close your eyes and don't look around!"

After she finished speaking, she turned around, unzipped her leather jacket, and from behind I saw her tear at her clothes a few times before zipping it up again. She turned around, glanced at me, and without saying anything, took a strip of cloth and first wiped the blood off my head before carefully bandaging it.

My nose was filled with the smell of blood, but faintly, the cloth on my head seemed to carry a faint fragrance... Suddenly, a thought struck me: Could this be Yang Wei's underwear?

Part One: In the Martial World, Unable to Control One's Own Fate, Chapter Twenty-Six: In the Wilderness

Noticing me looking at her, Yang narrowed her eyes and said coldly, "What are you looking at?"

I smiled but didn't dare say it aloud. I just asked, "I didn't expect you to have so many enemies... Aren't you from America? How come your enemies have all come to China?"

Yang Wei thought for a moment and said in a low voice, "I don't know... It shouldn't be my enemies in America. My family doesn't have any enemies in America, and even if we did, they wouldn't chase us here. I suspect it wasn't someone from America who did it."

I paused, a thought flashing through my mind: "Does anyone know that we went out at night?"

“There wasn’t anyone… They would have ambushed us here, they must have followed our car, then crept in from the distance through the woods… In other words, someone was watching us when we left the hotel club.” Yang Wei said as she thought, her tone suddenly turning cold: “I don’t think it’s our enemies in America… It seems like it was done by people here!”

"The people here?"

Yang smiled slightly, looking somewhat disheveled, but her eyes remained calm and composed: "It's simple... It's most likely related to our business. Didn't I tell you before? Not everyone in our family approves of this business deal with you; at least I'm against it... Similarly, not everyone in your organization supports Ye Huan doing this business!"

"You mean... there's internal discord within Huan's organization, and in order to sabotage this deal, they hired someone to kill you?" I asked seriously.

"It's just speculation right now," Yang Wei shook her head. However, she seemed to know that I didn't know much about these things and didn't want to talk to me about it further. Instead, she asked, "I see that you're quite skilled. Do you know kung fu?"

"Um."

"You're really good. I doubt my bodyguards are as strong as you. Their hand-to-hand combat skills are definitely not as good as yours, but they can use guns, which you probably can't."

"Hmph!" I said unhappily, "That's in America! High school students can run around with guns! Do you think anyone in China can just get a gun and play around with it?"

Yang smiled and said, "No matter what, I'm so glad you were here tonight. If it weren't for you, I would be in trouble by now."

I chuckled twice: "Looks like even someone of your status can't be guaranteed safety. I used to think someone like you would be accompanied by a large group of bodyguards when you went out."

After thinking for a moment, something suddenly popped into my head: "Right, just now up there, when that guy was pointing a gun at me, how come he fell down as soon as I bumped into him?"

I've personally experienced that guy's skills. Let alone Yang Wei, such a delicate girl, bumping into him, even if I went up and punched him, I probably wouldn't be able to take him down.

Yang smiled and said, "I had something in my hand just now, but unfortunately, I lost it when it fell."

"What?"

"A miniature stun gun," Yang Wei said. "It can instantly generate an electric current that can paralyze or even cause unconsciousness."

"Damn it!" I cursed weakly. "You've got guts! Aren't you afraid of hitting him with a stun gun, and he might lose control and shoot me dead?" In fact, it was really dangerous just now. That guy got shocked, and sure enough, he pointed his finger and fired! But luckily, he missed when he was stunned by the shock, and the bullet grazed my ear!

Faced with my displeased questioning, Yang Wei sneered: "Hmph! And what about you? You pulled me up when you fell! If you hadn't pulled me up, I wouldn't have fallen down with you, would I?"

"Nonsense! If I hadn't pulled you down, you'd still be up there! They would have arrested you long ago!"

"Hmph!" Yang Wei was speechless, but she tacitly acknowledged the fact I had stated.

We were silent for a moment before she whispered, "Chen Yang... thank you."

...

We hid there for what seemed like an eternity, probably close to an hour. We listened intently to our surroundings as we spoke, but no one came down to chase us. We didn't know if they simply didn't come down to catch us, or if they did come down but couldn't find us.

Every extra minute we have is a minute more safe!

Yang Wei and I both guessed the same thing: these people had followed us out to ambush us, and they wouldn't dare stay here too long. If they couldn't find us, they would leave sooner or later.

The nights in the mountains are still very cold. I had multiple injuries and had lost a lot of blood. It was the middle of the night, and the cold wind was blowing. I was lying on the cold ground, and my whole body was frozen stiff in no time. No matter how hard I tried to endure it, I couldn't stop my body from shivering.

"Are you cold?" Yang Wei noticed the movement of my body.

"Nonsense... Nonsense... Dear dear dear..." I said, my teeth chattering.

Actually, I should be angry with Yang Wei, since it wasn't my fault at all and she was the one who dragged me into this mess. But I just can't bring myself to hold any grudges against her.

Sigh, they even tore off their underwear and wrapped it around my head. I'm a grown man, how could I just stand by and do nothing when I see a beautiful woman in trouble?

Suddenly, I felt Yang Wei move. She seemed to hesitate for a moment, then leaned closer and hugged me, and we were pressed tightly together. Being held in such a soft body suddenly sent a shiver down my spine! Her body was incredibly soft, and she seemed to carry a faint, girlish fragrance. I couldn't help but feel a surge of emotion…

However, I then noticed that her hands were icy cold and her body seemed to be trembling.

Hmm, so she's cold too.

Just then, Yang Wei said coldly, "You're not allowed to think nonsense. I just think it's easier for two people to keep warm when they hug each other."

"I...I was planning to let my mind wander...but...but...I...I don't have the mind for anything right now...ta-ta-ta..."

My head felt a little sore and itchy, so I couldn't help but twist my neck. Suddenly, I felt like my head was pressing against something, something soft...

Suddenly, I realized something. Yang Wei's breathing became unsteady, and she angrily said, "Behave yourself! If you move again, I'll kill you!"
