flutter!

He spat out a mouthful of blood, then suddenly struggled and sprang away, rolling to the ground. I seized the opportunity to leap over and grab the dagger from the ground.

When he stood up again, I yelled and lunged at him, simultaneously throwing the dagger from my hand. A flicker of nervousness crossed his eyes as he dodged the dagger, but I was already upon him!

I turned to the side, supporting myself on my left foot and raising my right leg high. Then, using the momentum of my forward lunge, I shouted and delivered a powerful spinning kick to his body.

This strike was delivered with my preparatory momentum, and he was immediately sent flying, traveling three to five meters away! His body slammed heavily onto the two steel pipes on the roof!

With a muffled thud, the steel pipe bent and dented from his impact, and he was trapped inside the dent, gushing blood. I limped over, grabbed his collar, and punched him twice in the face. His front teeth shattered instantly. Then I lifted him up; his body was completely limp, like an empty sack.

I grabbed his neck with one hand and clenched my fist with the other, then unleashed a flurry of punches on his chest and abdomen!

My heart was filled with anger and hatred. I didn't know how many punches I threw, until my arms were sore and my already painful left ribs almost made me faint. I finally managed to stop.

He had already fallen to the ground, his mouth and nose filled with blood.

Just then, I heard a sound coming from the door on the rooftop in the distance behind me. I knew the police were about to rush up, so I immediately grabbed a broken steel pipe from the ground, walked over, and stuck the pipe into the doorknob.

No matter how hard the police try to break down the door from inside, they won't be able to get out for a while unless they have the strength to completely dismantle the door!

I turned back to the man, bent down, and grabbed his collar tightly: "Who are you??"

His face was swollen like a pig's head from my beating, covered in blood. When he heard my question, he suddenly laughed wickedly, his eyes as vicious as a venomous snake. His eyes were so swollen that he could barely open them, but he still stared at me intently.

I was so enraged by his laughter that I grabbed the dagger from the ground and stabbed it into his shoulder!

He screamed in agony, his body trembling violently.

"Speak or not!" I said coldly. Seeing that he kept his mouth shut and didn't say anything, I pulled out the dagger and quickly stabbed it into his other shoulder!

"Ah!!" he screamed in agony. My face remained cold as I gripped the hilt of the dagger, deliberately twisting it clockwise...

Instantly, the blade sliced through his wounds, leaving them a bloody mess!

"What? Still not going to tell me?" I looked at him coldly. "I'll ask you one more time, who are you!"

"Haha! Haha! Hahahaha..." His face was contorted with pain, but he suddenly burst into wild laughter.

I pulled out my dagger and stabbed him in the groin again!

He screamed again, then his previously unfocused eyes suddenly sharpened, staring at me as he roared viciously, "You're dead! You'll die a horrible death!! Cobra will kill you!!"

"Cobra?! Humph!" I sneered, stuck two fingers into his mouth, and then dragged him all the way to the other side of the rooftop while holding his mouth and cheeks shut!

He screamed and struggled, but with his body covered in wounds, he had no strength left to resist.

In front of me was a white, house-like structure, about two meters tall. I knew it was the compressor for the building's central air conditioning system!

The huge compressor roared, deafeningly loud, and the powerful airflow whipped my hair into a mess!

The outside was a panel made of a special material, with a mesh pattern. I leaned him against it, then stood up and kicked him!

Snap!

His body immediately caved in, and the front grid panel was crushed!

I bent down and said coldly, "Do you know what you're lying on right now? Below you is the air conditioning compressor of the entire building! Can you hear the wind inside? Let me tell you, the power of this fan is stronger than a helicopter propeller! If someone falls down, they'll be shredded into a pulp! Want to taste what that feels like?"

My voice at that moment was filled with boundless evil and murderous intent. My expression was like that of a demon!

"Cobra will avenge me!" His voice trembled with fear, but his eyes remained vicious and uncompromising: "You will die at Cobra's hands, and you will die a horrible death!"

"Okay." I knew I wouldn't get any more information. I slowly said, "I'll just ask you, where are the Vietnamese people now? And what is that cobra you mentioned?"

My response was a desperate and insane sneer.

I stood up. Then, looking at him coldly, I lifted my foot...

Bang!

I kicked him out, and his body smashed through the grating and fell into the propeller below...

I stood there, listening to that terrifying sound, like a meat grinder, and at first, my heart turned to ice! I didn't waver at all!!

The terrifying sound lasted for more than ten seconds, then the machine seemed to freeze and made noise, but I had already slowly walked away.

I had only taken two steps when I felt excruciating pain all over my body, my vision went black, and I felt like I was about to collapse at any moment.

I walked to the entrance to the rooftop terrace. The door was being smashed loudly, and the police inside were shouting and shooting at the lock. However, there were steel pipes blocking the door from the outside, so even though the lock was broken, they couldn't get out.

I staggered over, shouting, "Don't shoot, it's me!!"

I called out three times, and someone inside responded. I went over, took the steel pipe down, and then opened the door.

The place was full of police, some of them fully armed. When they saw the dagger in my hand, some of them immediately pointed their guns at me. I couldn't be bothered with these idiots. I staggered two steps forward, my legs gave way, and looking at these nervous guys, I sneered, "That fugitive is dead. Now, can you take me downstairs first? I need an ambulance."

I finally lay down on the ambulance stretcher, covered with a blanket. There was noise all around me. The police station was in complete chaos, with many police officers going in and out as if facing a major enemy.

Yang Wei was right beside me, holding onto the stretcher with one hand. Her usual calm demeanor had vanished, replaced by anxiety and anger.

When a police officer tried to approach me, Yang Wei angrily chased him away. The officer wanted to get me into the ambulance, but Yang Wei refused. Later, Doug intervened and ended the argument.

The police definitely won't let me off the hook, after all, I chased that guy all the way to the rooftop, and I ended up killing him… Of course, there are many ways to resolve trouble afterward, and these can be handled by a lawyer. Regardless, I'll stick to two points: First, I was merely acting "heroically" to apprehend the criminal. Second, while I killed the criminal during the struggle, it can be defined as a necessary measure taken to protect my own life.

Hearing the noisy sounds all around me, I closed my eyes.

The stretcher was hard, but I felt my whole body go limp. Yet, my mind was perfectly clear, and many of my senses were unusually sharp.

When I was on the rooftop, the pain from my injuries almost made me faint, but once I lay down, my mind was filled with all sorts of thoughts, and I couldn't fall asleep.

Even the pain was much stronger and clearer than usual.

There are a lot of random people outside, and I even saw some reporters... Ugh, it's all a mess.

As soon as Norton appeared, he was immediately surrounded by reporters. The poor old man was already pale, and although he tried to straighten his back, the dejection in his eyes was undeniable.

A series of events have occurred one after another, and it seems that this guy won't be able to stay in his position for much longer.

Paramedics lifted me into the ambulance. Although Yang Wei insisted, she couldn't get in and instead followed in her car. But before leaving me, Yang Wei whispered in my ear, "No matter what questions anyone asks you, remember not to answer! Don't say a word! Don't say anything! I've already found someone to handle this."

After the ambulance door closed, the cramped interior was filled with the smell of medicine. Paramedics gave me some basic treatment, but to my surprise, as I turned my head, I saw another person lying on a stretcher next to me.

That white police officer! That unlucky guy whose gun was stolen by thugs and who was taken hostage.

He had been shot in the leg, the bleeding had stopped, and he was pale and dejected. Suddenly he saw me, and a strange expression flashed across his face.

We lay side by side, looked at each other several times, and then I spoke first, smiling: "Officer, I never expected that we would meet again in this kind of situation."

His face was grim, but he opened his lips and mumbled, "Anyway, Chen Yang, thank you. I heard you took care of that bastard on the rooftop?"

I smiled and didn't answer the question.

Looking at the guy's angry face, he must be really annoyed... All because of his work mistake, that guy escaped, stole his service weapon, and took him hostage... This incident will undoubtedly cast a shadow over his work from now on! It will also make him a laughing stock.

He might even face some disciplinary action.

Poor guy, he must hate that thug to death right now.

But at that moment I had no intention of pitying him; I had more important questions to ask him.

"Officer, can I ask you a question?" I said slowly, "Who exactly is this guy? Why was he arrested and brought to the police station? What did he do wrong? And why did he suddenly escape?"

The white police officer's expression darkened further.

He said angrily, "Only God knows! It's been so chaotic outside these past few days. We don't even know how many people we've arrested, but there are still so many thugs causing trouble on the streets. This guy was just someone one of my men accidentally caught in front of a restaurant today. There was a fight going on, probably a gang fight or a turf war. And this guy was also caught. But damn it, I didn't expect him to be so tough... When we caught him, he didn't resist at all... And we locked him in a room for a whole hour, and he didn't escape. It's really strange."

Upon hearing this, a sense of foreboding immediately arose in my heart...

That guy was incredibly skilled; someone with that kind of ability could escape from a police station, yet when the police arrested him, he didn't even put up a fight... What does that mean?!

I immediately shouted, "He got arrested on purpose!!"

Part Two: The Road to Success, Chapter Thirty-Seven: Bloodshed Begins with Me!

Ignoring the pain, I immediately sat up, and the medical staff next to me rushed over to try to hold me down.

"Give me a phone!! I need to make a phone call! Quickly!!" I struggled and shouted.

The medical staff tried to calm me down: "Sir, you can't move... otherwise..."

"Damn it!" I roared, "Give me the phone! Otherwise, one call from me and I can make you lose your job!! This call is crucial, you can't afford the responsibility!"

While the medical staff were still hesitating, the white police officer actually helped me this time, shouting, "Give him the phone, quick!"

After all, he was a police officer, and his uniform indicated he was of a high rank. The paramedics immediately picked up the phone from the ambulance and handed it to me. I quickly dialed the number; it belonged to Doug!

The call connected quickly, and I immediately shouted, "Mr. Doug, this is Chen Yang! There's something very important... That guy, that fugitive who died on the rooftop, I suspect he deliberately got caught and infiltrated the police station!!"

The phone signal was poor, and Doug's voice was accompanied by static: "What did you say... deliberately got arrested? Sneaked into the police station? Chen Yang... I need you to explain yourself more clearly..."

rustling... rustling...

"What's going on?" I asked angrily, grabbing the phone, but there was only static and no signal!

"We... are going through a tunnel," the medical staff next to me said with a wry smile.

I threw the phone away and looked at the dim lights outside.

The tunnel was long, and to make matters worse, there was a two-minute traffic jam, taking us a full five minutes to get through. As soon as the car emerged from the tunnel, I picked up the phone again to dial Doug's number, but this time I couldn't get through…

I tried several times, but finally gave up in despair. Yet the ominous feeling in my heart only grew stronger!

Finally, just as the car was about to reach the hospital, the car phone rang!

The paramedic picked up the phone and answered it. His face immediately fell, filled with surprise. He then put down the phone, glanced at me and the white police officer, opened his mouth as if hesitating, and then said, "Looks like we're in for a lot of work today... gentlemen. After getting you to the hospital, this car needs to get back to the police station immediately..."

His tone was strange and grave: "They said on the phone just now that there was a bomb explosion at the police station."

I saw it. The white police officer's expression had completely broken down.

"Fractured ribs, sixteen abrasions, a sprained ankle, and a mild concussion. It seems you've been gloriously wounded once again, injured while apprehending criminals. I think the police should give you a commendation." Yang Wei stood in front of my bed, smiling at me.

Although she was smiling, her eyes were filled with worry: "Xiao Wu, you shouldn't be working so hard. Why? Why did you get involved in this?"

I lay in the hospital bed, half of my body numb, and shook my head: "That guy, he has cobra tattoos on his body... and I had some conversations with him on the rooftop... very strange things. But I'm sure he's connected to the Vietnamese."

Yang Wei's face darkened. "Regardless, I feel this matter is getting out of control! Xiao Wu... gang violence is tolerable... but a bomb attack in a police station... that's a completely different matter! Do you understand?"

I gave a cold laugh, but it aggravated my wound, making me gasp for breath: "Where's Doug? He must be in a complete mess right now."

"You're wrong. The one in a real bind isn't Doug, but poor Mr. Norton. Although he hasn't officially resigned, Doug has temporarily taken over all power. Just now, while the doctor was treating your wounds, Doug held an emergency press conference. He publicly declared in strong terms that the police will take severe measures to thoroughly crack down on anyone or any organization that dares to provoke the police! The situation is terrible; there's no room for maneuver."

"Hey!" I gave a weak laugh. "What a desperate move! I'm starting to admire those Vietnamese people. They actually dared to go this far."
