Chapter 150 Destruction

"That's all I know, so I'd like to ask you, who is the real boss of your underground group? Is it the Sky Eye Society? Or is it Lieutenant Dreiser who controls the ghosts and corpse puppets?" Ling Yun ignored the gun pointed at him and slowly walked towards the leader.

"Go ask the King of Hell," the leader said grimly. This boy knew too much; he even knew about the general's involvement in underground dealings. Even the leader himself had only just received the information from his superiors. He was determined to kill the boy to prevent the news from leaking out.

With a sharp pull of the trigger, a bright yellow bullet, propelled by the immense force of the gunpowder, shot out of the barrel and aimed at Ling Yun's eyes. But the boy simply extended his thumb and forefinger, gently catching the oncoming bullet as if he were pinching a dragonfly perched on a branch, wings outstretched, ready to take flight.

The leader, his eyes blazing with fury, fired repeatedly at Ling Yun, while turning around and shouting hoarsely, "What are you looking at? Shoot him and kill him! He's a monster!"

The AK47 roared deafeningly in the air. Its dark black, half-centimeter-thick barrel turned red-hot in less than half a minute. Hundreds of bullets shot through the air like locusts, swarming towards Lingyun.

In such a barrage of gunfire, no one could survive. Yet, everyone's hearts sank to the bottom.

Ling Yun walked forward step by step through the hail of bullets. As the bullets approached him, their speed began to slow down, and the air currents caused by their rapid movement could be clearly seen with the naked eye. After slowing down to a certain point, the bullets automatically stopped in mid-air and then fell one by one, making a crisp clinking sound.

The eight men's faces turned deathly pale. The leader was alright, at least he knew some horrifying events. Although his heart sank to the bottom, he could still barely keep his expression calm. But the soldiers behind him were here for the first time in this underground drug plaza. They had never seen such extraordinary beings as superhumans before. When they saw Ling Yun not afraid of being shot, their eyes almost popped out of their sockets.

Everyone's fingers were pulled to the limit, so stiff they couldn't feel the intense heat slowly radiating from the burning muzzles. Bullets rained down like a whirlwind, scattering countless sparks as they struck Ling Yun, like fireworks lit on a summer night. Casings fell to the ground almost like a stream.

With a loud bang, a soldier suddenly screamed and collapsed to the ground, his face covered in blood. Only the mahogany handle remained of his rifle. Due to the excessive force, he had pulled the trigger beyond its limit, severely deforming the firing pin inside the AK47. Bullets continued to fire, the powerful propellant instantly shattering the gun into pieces. Except for a small portion, most of the metal fragments were deeply embedded in his body and face.

"Tell me, who is your boss? I want to see him." Ling Yun continued walking slowly forward, completely ignoring the hail of bullets coming at him. The force that could knock a one-ton truck backward seemed nonexistent to Ling Yun. He didn't walk fast, but with each step forward, it seemed to add immense pressure to everyone's hearts, as if what was coming at them was not a human, but a black bear assembled from steel.

The leader was already terrified, his mind blank, focused solely on escaping. He couldn't hear Ling Yun's questions. He desperately backed away, firing pointlessly at Ling Yun, shouting, "Run! This guy isn't human! Let's get back to the motorcycle!"

The soldiers panicked and rushed toward the engine behind them, their hearts pounding and their hands and feet icy cold. They felt like unarmed men being relentlessly pursued by a hungry tiger, wishing they had more legs and wanting nothing more than to get as far away from this terrifying boy as possible.

As the leader and his men rushed onto the engine, Ling Yun sneered and stopped. He lightly waved his right hand in front of his eyes, and countless bullets froze in mid-air like raindrops.

"Drive it now!" The leader, who was the first to climb into the cockpit of the engine, shouted impatiently to the man who had just crawled in from the opposite side. The man frantically pressed the complicated start buttons in the cockpit, twisted the control lever with his right hand, and engaged the top speed.

"Wait for us!" the five soldiers shouted impatiently, fearing that the nose of the plane would start moving and leave them behind. The last short soldier saw that the soldier in front of him with broader shoulders had struggled for a long time but still couldn't squeeze into the cockpit, which could only fit one person at a time. His eyes immediately turned red.

"Get out of my way, you piece of trash!" Before the other soldiers could understand what was happening, the bullets had already hit the soldier with the broad shoulder, causing him to tremble uncontrollably, and hot blood spurted out of the bullet holes in a column.

The short soldier stepped forward and yanked the motionless, broad-shouldered soldier out of the hatch, jumping into the cockpit first. The other soldiers were stunned for a moment before snapping out of their daze and quickly jumping into the cockpit as well, without even glancing at the soldier on the ground, his eyes wide open and lifeless.

With a hum, the nose of the aircraft finally started moving slowly after a long whistle. Seeing that Ling Yun had not caught up yet, the leader, the man piloting the aircraft, and the four soldiers finally breathed a sigh of relief. Although they were a little puzzled as to why Ling Yun had not caught up to kill them, they had no time to think about these questions in the emergency. As long as the aircraft started moving, even if that young man had four legs, he would definitely not be able to catch up.

The last soldier to board was still somewhat uneasy. He rolled down the narrow hatch's plexiglass window and looked in Ling Yun's direction. From this angle, he could see most of the underground plaza, even the dying drug flames in the center of the plaza. The background of the entire underground plaza was gradually darkening, like a stage play slowly coming to a close.

Then, the soldier witnessed the most shocking scene of his life, and also the last. He opened his mouth and screamed desperately, but couldn't hear his own voice. The leader and the others looked at him strangely, wondering what had suddenly driven this soldier mad.

The last image the soldier saw was the terrifying boy slowly waving in his direction. The overwhelming barrage of bullets seemed to gain immense power in an instant, like countless gravity sniper rifles aimed at him, then firing simultaneously with a bang.

All the bullets were deflected by Ling Yun's powerful telekinetic energy, striking the massive power unit. This power unit was made of steel, at least two inches thick, so even an equal number of bullets wouldn't easily damage its structure. However, the bullets amplified by Ling Yun's telekinetic energy, while not as powerful as artillery shells, were significantly more powerful than bullets fired normally.

The thin and sealed cockpit was the first to be pierced by the locust-like bullets. The six people in the cramped space were huddled together. There was very little room to dodge, let alone crouch down or lower one's head. Each bullet pierced through one person's body before entering another, until it finally passed through the last person's body and then made a hole the size of a teacup on the other side of the nose of the aircraft.

Amidst the barrage of gunfire, everyone was riddled with holes. Blood didn't even have time to flow before it was evaporated into steaming vapor by the high temperature of the rapidly advancing bullets. In just a breath, a faint mist of blood rose in the cramped cockpit, as if a layer of blood rained down.

Several people were already completely dead, but the bullets continued to penetrate. Through the riddled plexiglass window, several terrifying figures could still be seen writhing desperately, as if in a final, death-defying frenzy. Finally, other bullets pierced the engine's reactor core, exploding into a rapidly moving ball of fire amidst a deafening roar, hurtling towards the bunker's exit.

Ling Yun slowly lowered his arm, and with a bang, a bullet that hadn't yet been fired gently fell from his hand to the ground. "I'll leave you with a souvenir." The young man smiled faintly, turned around and waved his hand lightly, and the small fire, only the size of a washbasin, suddenly went out without even a wisp of smoke.

Once back into the dim light of the underground plaza, Ling Yun glanced at the exit of the air-raid shelter. Suddenly, his mental energy field swept violently across the entire plaza, centered on him, and the boy slowly sank into the ground like mercury.

A moment later, the silent underground plaza suddenly began to shake violently, as if an invisible giant hand was ruthlessly churning the soil above, with huge chunks of sand and gravel continuously falling from the dome above, turning the once-smooth ground into a mess.

The air-raid shelter was quickly filled with fallen clods of earth. The sleepers under the rails began to tumble, changing the direction of the rails as well. The locomotive, along with the heavy mine cars, lost its balance at the edge of the gentle slope. The heavy locomotive tilted forward and slid down the slope with a loud crash, burying itself deep within the collapsed underground plaza.

The entire underground space disappeared, completely transforming into an underground world consisting only of soil.

In a low-lying valley on the outskirts of the city, a wave of heat suddenly emanated from the exit of an underground tunnel made entirely of bluestone. Several soldiers in military uniforms were busy moving small containers onto the platform when they felt as if they were on fire behind them. Before they could react, a burning engine bolted out of the tunnel like a wild horse, instantly engulfing the soldiers who had no time to dodge into the raging flames.

Chapter 151 Like a Dream, Like an Illusion

Ling Yun had barely peeked out from the floor of dormitory 308 when he froze. What came into view was a pair of impeccably long legs on the living room sofa. The owner of those long legs was sitting on the sofa, watching him with a half-smile, as if admiring some rare animal.

"What did you do all night? It seems like you have a lot on your mind, but you didn't tell me anything." Gu Xiaorou asked with a half-smile, feeling a little annoyed. This guy never tells her anything, always preferring to be alone. She wondered if he even cared about her. It always seemed like she was the one who initiated contact. Didn't he ever think of taking the initiative? Thinking of this, the girl couldn't help but bite her lip slightly.

"It's been a whole night?" Ling Yun was startled and quickly scrambled out of the ground. He glanced at the quartz clock above the living room door. Sure enough, he hadn't noticed anything while using Earth Escape Technique. He hadn't returned until almost six in the morning. He had intended to come back when the lights were out, but he hadn't expected to spend so much time in the underground plaza. Of course, the round trip itself hadn't taken much time; the longest delay was when he dropped off the young punk Jingjing and Lao Liao.

"What do you think?" Gu Xiaorou scoffed at his feigned ignorance.

"Luckily I got back in time and didn't break any school rules," Ling Yun said with a smile, then sat down opposite Gu Xiaorou. "You came so early, did you miss me?" Ling Yun rarely joked.

Gu Xiaorou's beautiful eyes widened in surprise. She thought to herself, "Has the sun risen in the west today? This guy usually keeps a straight face and acts all serious, but today he's suddenly become quite witty." However, when she heard him crack a joke, she felt a ticklish feeling of happiness. Suddenly, her annoyance at not seeing Ling Yun inexplicably vanished, and her desire to vent her anger on him also disappeared without her realizing it after a somewhat ambiguous remark.

"I've been waiting for you for ages. I heard you did something really bold the day before yesterday afternoon. Apparently, you openly molested a woman in your dorm? Is that true?" Gu Xiaorou said slowly, a half-smile playing on her lips.

"You knew everything?" Ling Yun asked, startled. The school and police had handled Qin Zhengwei and the other two secretly, behind closed doors. Such a thing couldn't possibly have leaked out. Although secrets don't stay hidden forever, and students in the same dormitory building might have known some details, no one could possibly know that Qin Zhengwei and the other two were actually peripheral members of a drug trafficking group. However, this depended on who they knew. Ordinary people naturally wouldn't know the inside story, but for Gu Xiaorou, there was no way she wouldn't know.

“Of course,” Gu Xiaorou said proudly. “I even went to the detention room of the school police station to see Xiaoqian. At that time, I thought that if you could molest a woman like that, then you are either blind or sick.”

"..." Ling Yun rubbed his hands awkwardly. Faced with Gu Xiaorou's sharp words, he seemed to have nothing to say except for being covered in sweat.

"Just believe that I'm not that kind of person..." Ling Yun finally managed to squeeze out a sentence after a long while.

"Of course I believe you. At least you weren't tempted by beauties like Yang Yuqi and Su Bingyan, so how could I believe you would molest a woman of average looks?" Gu Xiaorou said, then suddenly sighed softly, "I wonder who you will eventually fall for."

Ling Yun's heart suddenly raced. Perhaps... this was the perfect opportunity to confess his feelings. Although he and Xiao Rou were already very close, there always seemed to be a soft, unspoken barrier between them that hadn't been broken. Perhaps, what is deliberately pursued may not achieve the ideal outcome, while an unintentional arrangement may bring unexpected surprises.

“For you, Xiao Rou…” Ling Yun stood up, opened his mouth and struggled to utter the most important words for a long time before finally managing to say them. “I think I’ve fallen for you…” As he said this, Ling Yun couldn’t help but feel his ears burning and going weak.

Gu Xiaorou looked at him and slowly stood up. A light mist veiled her bright eyes. She wasn't wearing a thin mask, and in the morning sunlight, she was dazzlingly beautiful. For a moment, Ling Yun was mesmerized.

"Hold me, I'm so lonely..." the girl said softly, like a rose that might break at any moment in the wind. Joyful, glistening tears slowly streamed down her cheeks. At this moment, her lonely heart was completely released, and the softest part of her heart was filled with tender feelings. This ordinary boy would surely give her the embrace she longed to lean on in her dreams.
