Caja de cadáveres - Capítulo 9

Capítulo 9

Wei Boxi: "There's no need to play dirty tricks with this kind of person. It's best to be straightforward and leave him with nowhere to vent his bad intentions."

Wei Boxi then gave Li Datou a series of instructions, telling him to take care of them immediately. As Li Datou got up to leave, Wei Boxi suddenly asked, "How is Xiao Hu, who had the incident at the securities department a little over a month ago, doing now?"

Li Datou: "Still in a coma in the hospital, what instructions does General Wei have?"

Wei Boxi: "It's nothing, you can go and take care of your business."

...

Feng Junzi and Han Shuang were deeply worried about being watched, but unfortunately, Piaopiao couldn't go out into the sun to see who was in the car, so they had to wait until dark. Just then, Feng Junzi's phone rang; it was Shi Dan from Tianlu Securities calling.

Stan said to Feng Junzi on the phone, "Brother, you absolutely have to make time to come out tonight. I'd like to treat you to a drink."

Feng Junzi: "Old Shi, can we do it another day? I can't get away today."

Stan: "I know you probably have something to do today, but you still have to come. I have something very important to discuss with you. There is someone very important who wants to see you, but it's not about me; it's about you."

Feng Junzi: "Old Shi, can you explain yourself more clearly? Who is it? What do you want with me?"

Stan: "You'll understand once you get here."

Feng Junzi: "Can't I not go?"

Stan: "Then why bother? Even if you hadn't come today, people would have come looking for you. I think some things are better discussed over drinks. Since I'm the host, at least I won't make things difficult for you."

Upon hearing Shi Dan's words, Feng Junzi vaguely guessed what it was about. He suspected the matter concerned Weida Shares or Piaopiao's case, but he wondered who was behind it. After a moment's hesitation, he agreed to meet Shi Dan at a restaurant at 7 PM that evening.

While Feng Junzi was on the phone, Han Shuang listened quietly. After Feng Junzi finished his call, Han Shuang stood by the window looking at the suspicious car downstairs and asked Feng Junzi, "Are you really going tonight? Shouldn't you make some preparations beforehand?"

Feng Junzi then thought of Han Shuang. He was going to a banquet that night, and there were people watching outside the door. Would Han Shuang be in danger if she was home alone? He thought for a long time but couldn't come up with a good solution. Finally, he gritted his teeth and said, "Of course I'm going. I believe they can't do anything to me in a place like that. You—you—you—come with me. Let's go together. If anything happens, you might be able to help me."

Han Shuang: "Are you really going to take me with you?"

Feng Junzi: "What do you mean, 'really' or 'fake'? We're comrades now, so of course we'll go together. Piaopiao will come too, since no one else can see her anyway."

Han Shuang's expression seemed to be a mixture of surprise and delight as she asked, "What clothes should I wear? Can you help me pick one out?"

Feng Junzi smiled wryly. Women always manage to make even the biggest problems seem small and simple, but he doesn't have it so easy.

...

Feng Junzi deliberately arrived ten minutes late, observing the area along the way for anything unusual. There was nothing particularly unusual or noteworthy outside the restaurant or in the lobby. When he entered the private room, Shi Dan and the others were already there. The first thing Feng Junzi saw was Wei Boxi sitting properly in the main seat.

Although Feng Junzi had anticipated encountering Wei Boxi that evening, his heart still pounded with apprehension upon actually seeing the man before him. He was extremely reluctant to face someone like Wei Boxi, and while he knew he would have to confront him sooner or later, he hoped it would be as late as possible. He had dealt with Wei Boxi once before, and they were rivals in that encounter; that was how they met. Unfortunately, Feng Junzi had suffered a crushing defeat almost before even meeting Wei Boxi (for details, please refer to "Strange Tales of the Stock Market—Deception by Gods and Ghosts").

There were already three people in the private room: Wei Boxi, Shi Dan, and Li Datou. When Feng Junzi entered, all three politely stood up to greet him. They then seemed momentarily surprised to see Han Shuang beside Feng Junzi, before politely inviting Han Shuang to sit down and asking Feng Junzi to introduce them.

Feng Junzi was a little embarrassed, so he could only vaguely introduce him: "This is my friend..."

Before Feng Junzi could finish speaking, Han Shuang spoke up: "My name is Han Shuang."

When Han Shuang introduced himself, Shi Dan didn't react much, but Wei Boxi, Li Datou, and Feng Junzi were all taken aback. Feng Junzi had just been thinking of giving Han Shuang a random name, but it seemed unnecessary now. Judging from Wei Boxi and Li Datou's expressions, he could tell that the two of them had already heard of Han Shuang. Since things had come to this, he had no choice but to bite the bullet and sit down.

3-6. Qiao Fangsi's Ghost Eyes Display Supernatural Powers

After symbolically ordering the food, Feng Junzi didn't directly ask Wei Boxi's purpose for coming. Instead, he asked Shi Dan, who had invited him, "Old Shi, didn't you say you had something to discuss with me today? What's the important matter? Or is it about me?"

Stan blushed slightly and did not answer. Wei Boyi, who always got straight to the point, took over and said, "Actually, I asked Old Stan to invite you here today. There is something I would like to ask Mr. Feng for help with."

Feng Junzi thought Wei Boxi was quite direct, but he still pretended to be puzzled and asked, "What help can a nobody like me be to Boss Wei? Just tell me what you need, there's no need to come in person and go to all this trouble."

Wei Boxi: "Mr. Feng, you're too kind. There is indeed something I'd like to ask you. I heard that you've been investigating a case from two years ago. To be honest, that case was somewhat related to me back then, and now two people connected to it have had accidents. I'd like to ask you what exactly happened?"

Feng Junzi was taken aback by Wei Boxi's directness and was momentarily speechless. He could only ask in return, "Indeed, I am very interested in what happened two years ago, and I have recently taken the time to do some investigation. But I wasn't targeting you, Mr. Wei; it was just a coincidence. Mr. Wei just mentioned that you are involved. What exactly happened? Did I accidentally offend you, Mr. Wei?"

At this moment, Li Datou interjected: "This matter has nothing to do with President Wei, but of course President Wei will care if someone in the company gets into trouble."

Wei Boxi interrupted Li Datou before he could finish speaking and said to Feng Junzi, "I can't say it has nothing to do with me. The matter started because of me. After all, it's a human life, and I feel very uneasy about it. So I came here today specifically to explain this matter."

Feng Junzi thought to himself, "You've asked me to explain this? How ridiculous—if you really want an explanation, you should go to the police." However, he said aloud, "Oh? Could Mr. Wei tell me what happened?"

Wei Boxi sighed and slowly addressed the assembled guests: "Two years ago, my mother was diagnosed with kidney failure. Her condition was already very serious; without an immediate kidney transplant, her life would be in danger. However, at that time, no major hospitals had a matching kidney donor, and we couldn't find one even when we contacted other places. I was very anxious, so I told my friends to keep an eye out for this. You know I'm a filial son, and I don't care how much money it costs for my mother's illness. Later, Xiao Li told me that a kidney donor had been found by Chen Xiaosan. I was overjoyed and didn't think about anything else. My mind was entirely focused on my mother's illness, so I immediately arranged for the surgery at the hospital."

Feng Junzi interjected, "Do you know how they got it?"

Wei Boxi sighed again, his expression heavy, and said, "I didn't know at the time. I just thought that Chen Xiaosan had bought it. Since he had bought it, I didn't ask any more questions. You know I was very busy at the time because of my mother's illness."

Feng Junzi said expressionlessly, "President Wei is indeed very busy and has some minor matters to attend to. So what brings you here today?"

Wei Boxi: "Recently, the brother of our company employee Chen Xiaosan died, and Chen Xiaosan later went insane. I asked Xiao Li to investigate what happened, but unexpectedly, he learned about a case from two years ago. Only then did I understand how Chen Xiaosan found a kidney donor back then. I was shocked and saddened. It was all caused by my mother's illness. The responsibility lies with me. The victim is no longer here, but I will do my best to make amends."

Feng Junzi secretly admired Wei Boxi's shrewdness. He spoke frankly without avoiding the issue, outwardly admitting fault while actually absolving himself of all responsibility. In fact, after Chen Yidao's death and Chen Xiaosan's madness, Feng Junzi had already anticipated this situation. He had even told Han Shuang that this matter alone wouldn't be enough to bring Wei Boxi down. However, Wei Boxi's brilliance lay in putting the matter on the table, stating it clearly and directly, leaving no room for others to make a fuss. Feng Junzi kept his eyes fixed on Wei Boxi's expression, but Wei Boxi remained remarkably calm and his tone sincere.

Feng Junzi could only follow up with, "If President Wei wants compensation, he shouldn't be coming to me. That girl's name is Qiao Fangsi. He should go and comfort her family, but her family probably doesn't know about this."

Li Datou suddenly spoke up again: "It wasn't her family who contacted you? How did Mr. Feng find out about this? Did this Miss Han Shuang tell you?" After saying that, he squinted and looked Han Shuang up and down.

Han Shuang felt there was a lewd element in Li Datou's gaze, which seemed to linger on her face and chest, making her very uncomfortable. Feng Junzi also felt uncomfortable seeing Li Datou's gaze. He said seriously, "Miss Han Shuang is a friend I met by chance, and she happens to be somewhat related to this matter, but she has not said anything to me."

"How did Mr. Feng get involved in this matter? What exactly happened to Chen Yidao and Chen Xiaosan? What does this have to do with Mr. Feng? And what is your purpose?" Wei Boxi asked unhurriedly.

Feng Junzi secretly took a few deep breaths. Wei Boxi's question had finally hit the nail on the head; this was probably the purpose of his visit today. Feng Junzi thought to himself, "You're dealing with me in a straightforward way, but it feels a bit sinister. Well, I'll retaliate in kind, making you feel a bit wicked."

So he stood up, raised his glass, and said, "Weren't we here to drink? Come on, let me toast everyone first. After we finish, I'll tell you a story. Actually, it's not really a story, but a true story from my own experience. However, after you hear it, you might think it's a made-up story."

Everyone raised their glasses to drink, then sat up straight, their eyes fixed on Feng Junzi without speaking, clearly intrigued by his earlier words. Feng Junzi didn't sit down, but stood there with his hands behind his back, scanning the crowd before slowly saying, "This is a strange event I encountered in Qingdao this May. You may not believe what I'm about to tell you, but please don't interrupt me; let me finish..."

What Feng Junzi recounted next was bizarre, but he knew in his heart that he was telling the truth and hadn't lied to Wei Boxi at all. He started by telling ghost stories with his colleagues at the Haier Villa in Qingdao, then went on to describe how he entered the haunted alley, how he met Qiao Fangsi, how Piaopiao came to find him at the hotel that night, what they said, and the things she entrusted to him. He had never told anyone about this experience, not even Han Shuang.

Feng Junzi was very measured; his story only went up to his first breakup with Piaopiao in Qingdao, omitting everything that happened after he returned to Binhai. But even this short experience was bizarre enough. After Feng Junzi finished speaking, he observed the expressions on everyone's faces—Shi Dan's mouth was agape, Li Datou's eyes were practically popping out of their sockets, Wei Boxi's face was ashen, his brows furrowed, and Han Shuang had unconsciously gripped Feng Junzi's hand tightly, looking at him with teary eyes.

Seeing that everyone was silent, Feng Junzi sat down, poured himself a glass of wine, raised it, and said, "My story is finished. Come on! Let's have another drink." Everyone seemed to snap out of their daze and mechanically raised their glasses to drink.

Li Datou was the first to react and speak: "This story is indeed unbelievable. So what happened next? What about Chen Yidao and Chen Xiaosan?"

Feng Junzi looked directly into Li Datou's eyes and said in a low voice, "I don't know too much about these things either, but later I encountered that female ghost Piaopiao in Binhai. She asked me to ask this Miss Han Shuang a few questions, so I did for her. That's how I met Miss Han. As for how Chen Yidao died and how Chen Xiaosan went mad, I think it's related to this female ghost. Otherwise, how would you all explain it?"

Feng Junzi clearly saw a flicker of fear in Li Datou's eyes and inwardly sneered. Li Datou raised his cup to drink, trying to hide his unease, but his hand trembled, and the cup fell to the table, spilling wine all over him. Of everyone present, only Feng Junzi understood that it was Piao Piao who had nudged him.

Wei Boxi quickly regained his composure, glanced at Li Datou with displeasure, and said to Feng Junzi with a normal expression, "So that's how it is. It's really hard to believe. But whether this is true or false, the purpose of my visit today is to explain things clearly. Now that the murderer has received his retribution, Mr. Feng can also give that female ghost an explanation."

Feng Junzi remained noncommittal. At this moment, Stan, who had been silent until now, finally spoke up: "Brother Feng, President Wei has already made his point. I think you should stop pursuing this matter. Of course, I'm not saying this matter has anything to do with you, but let's leave it at that. Regardless of whether it had anything to do with you before, I think we should just let it go now."

Li Datou continued, "President Wei has always been magnanimous, but if something happens to Wei Da in Binhai, he won't be able to protect him. If anyone is deliberately trying to make things difficult for Wei Da, he probably won't have a good ending."

Wei Boxi waved his hand to stop Li Datou from speaking, and said very gently to Feng Junzi and Han Shuang, "You can't say that. Everything comes down to reason. People like Chen Yidao and Chen Xiaosan really shouldn't have a good ending. Now that this matter is clear, I wonder if you two have any requests. Since I, Wei, have a responsibility, I will try my best to meet them."

Feng Junzi inwardly groaned. These three men—one with a painted face, one with a dark face, and one with a white face—were clearly prepared, working together in unison. It seemed impossible for him to pursue the matter of Piaopiao any further. At this moment, Han Shuang spoke up: "How Boss Wei wants to compensate Qiao Fangsi's family is none of our business. It's just that Qiao Fangsi died so unjustly. Why are there always some people in the world who think they have the right to decide the life and death of others?" With that, he raised his glass and drank.

Li Datou: "None of our business? Miss Han's words are quite interesting. It seems the two of you have a close relationship."

Wei Boxi suddenly said to Han Shuang, "Miss Han, you look so familiar. We seem to have met somewhere before. Oh! I remember now." Then he turned to Shi Dan and said, "Do you remember that day when a few of us accompanied Lao Dong to the nightclub, and Xiao Feng found the girl who accompanied Lao Dong back to the hotel? She looks exactly like this Miss Han. Could I have mistaken her for someone else?"

Feng Junzi maintained a composed expression, but inwardly felt deeply embarrassed. At the same time, he admired Wei Boxi. They had only briefly met a few months ago after a night of drinking, yet Wei Boxi had recognized him. It seemed Wei Boxi truly possessed exceptional abilities; he hadn't been naive for nothing. While he might have a photographic memory for a poem or essay he occasionally enjoyed, Feng Junzi was far inferior to Wei Boxi's ability to judge character. He hesitated, unsure how to respond.

At this moment, Han Shuang calmly replied, "Boss Wei did not mistake me for someone else. The girl that night was me. I was confused back then, but I am more sensible now."

Li Datou said, "So Miss Han has reformed. What a pity!" He glanced sideways at Feng Junzi as he spoke.

Seeing this, Feng Junzi had no choice but to speak. He couldn't target Shi Dan and Wei Boxi, so he said to Li Datou in a sarcastic tone, "Brother Li, it seems you're not a very kind person. You can't stand seeing others reform. So turning over a new leaf is considered a pity. It looks like you'll never be a good person. How many bad things have you done so far?"

Li Datou could only chuckle awkwardly and said, "Is Brother Feng a good person? He is indeed dashing and charming, I admire him!"

Feng Junzi: "Admiration is useless. You should learn from me. A man who isn't romantic in his youth is wasting his life. So what?"

Wei Boxi interrupted their sarcastic remarks, saying, "Brother, we haven't finished talking about serious matters yet."

Feng Junzi: "Boss Wei personally took action and made his point to this extent, what else can I do? I can guarantee that Miss Han has absolutely nothing to do with this matter, and I will not pay any attention to it, inquire about it, or mention it to anyone in the future. I keep my word. Let's raise a glass to everyone."

Wei Boxi and the others smiled and raised their glasses in return.

...

When Feng Junzi returned home, he found that the person who had been keeping watch downstairs was gone, which he considered expected. Upon entering the house, Piao Piao stomped her foot and sat in a corner, head down, ignoring Feng Junzi. Feng Junzi knew she was unhappy because he had promised Wei Boxi that day he wouldn't pursue the matter further. Feng Junzi sighed, walked over, bent down, and put his arm around Piao Piao's shoulder, saying softly, "Piao Piao, I know you're angry with me, but this is the only way. Continuing to pursue it will yield no results. If we want to deal with Wei Boxi, we have to find another way."

Piao Piao's shoulders trembled slightly. When she looked up, Feng Junzi saw her face streaked with tears. She sobbed as she said, "I know, you said long ago that Wei Boxi could cover everything up. Before, you could scheme against them step by step from the shadows, but now that you and Han Shuang have been exposed, continuing like this is a dead end. Actually, I'm already very grateful to you. We were complete strangers before, but you've done so much for me. My revenge is complete. I'm just a pitiful, lonely ghost, what else can I hope for?"

Feng Junzi felt even more sorry for Wei Boyi and comforted him, saying, "I said I would not pursue your matter anymore, but that doesn't mean I will let Wei Boyi go. Don't forget that I also said I would make Wei Boyi lose everything and ruin his reputation, so that he would experience what it's like to be a pitiful person. I always keep my word."

Piao Piao seemed very surprised, and for a moment forgot to cry. She looked at Feng Junzi and said, "What? You still want to deal with him? That's too dangerous, not worth it. I'm already very satisfied. Please don't take any more risks, okay?"

Feng Junzi: "Have you forgotten? I still have another score to settle. It's not that I'm not going to pursue your matter anymore, it's just that this path is blocked, and we need to find another way. Don't cry, I'll need your help in the future."

Piao Piao finally stopped crying, leaned forward slightly and gently snuggled into Feng Junzi's arms, whispering, "You're such a good person, but don't take too many risks. Let's take it slow. Bad people will get their comeuppance. Also, don't let Han Shuang take too many risks. You should pay more attention to her; she's been crying the whole way back."

Feng Junzi: "What? Han Shuang cried the whole way? How come I didn't know? When did it start?"

"When Han Shuangjie left, she was very happy and kept secretly smiling at you. But after Wei Boxi recognized her at the dinner table, she started crying non-stop and is still hiding in her room crying now."

Feng Junzi was deeply puzzled, because he hadn't seen Han Shuang laughing the whole time she left or crying the whole time she returned. He might not have noticed when she left because he was preoccupied, but after Wei Boxi recognized Han Shuang at the dinner table, he was worried she might be uncomfortable and had been carefully observing her expression. He found that from then until she got home, Han Shuang's expression was normal, even smiling; there wasn't a trace of crying on her face. So, curiously, he asked Piao Piao, "You saw Han Shuang crying, so what did you see in me? What was my expression at the dinner table?"

“Your expression remained natural, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, but when Wei Boxi recognized Han Shuang, you seemed extremely embarrassed. Later, when you promised Wei Boxi that you would no longer pursue the matter against me, you had a sinister look on your face, glaring at him fiercely, as if you were about to pounce on him and strangle him.”

Feng Junzi was astonished. What Piaopiao said was exactly what he felt at the time. After thinking for a long time, he suddenly realized that the faces of people seen by Piaopiao, the ghost, were different from those of him. She saw the true faces behind people's masks!

Thinking of this, I was both surprised and delighted, and then asked Piaopiao, "So what were the expressions on the other people's faces at the table? Did you see them clearly?"

"Look closely, Shi Dan's face was always red, as if he had done something wrong. And Wei Boxi was always looking at you coldly. He only smiled after you promised him you wouldn't pursue the matter, but it seemed like he was mocking you. And that Li Datou was always lecherously staring at Sister Han Shuang."

Feng Junzi thought to himself, "That's certainly true," and then asked, "What was Li Datou's expression when he looked at me?"

"He seemed very angry and scared."

"And what about when he looked at Wei Boxi?"

"It only came to mind when you asked me that the strangest thing is that he seems to be more afraid of Wei Boxi. When Wei Boxi glances at him, his facial features almost contort."

Feng Junzi's heart skipped a beat. He thought that, logically, Li Datou shouldn't be so afraid of Wei Boxi. The fear in Piao Piao's eyes should be a deep-seated fear in a person's heart. If a person has something to fear, it must be because they have something to be ashamed of. Could it be that Li Datou has secretly done something to wrong Wei Boxi?

Just as he was lost in thought, Piaopiao spoke again: "I'm fine now, don't keep comforting me. Sister Han Shuang is crying harder and harder, you'd better go and see her."

In Feng Junzi's opinion, Han Shuang wasn't crying at all, but Piao Piao said she was crying, which meant she must be crying inside. Although Feng Junzi was intelligent, he didn't have much of a way to deal with this situation, so he could only bite the bullet and push open the bedroom door.

Although this was originally Feng Junzi's bedroom, he rarely came in after giving it to Han Shuang. Now, the room clearly carried a woman's scent, and Han Shuang sat on the bed, expressionless and lost in thought. Seeing Feng Junzi enter, she smiled faintly and asked, "I saw you were trying to appease Piaopiao earlier. Have you calmed the little girl down now? I know you have other ways to deal with Wei Boxi, don't you? What new idea have you come up with to ask me?"

Feng Junzi hesitated for a moment, then walked to the bedside and sat down next to Han Shuang. He said in his gentlest voice, "Han Shuang, don't be sad. I know you were upset on the way back. It's not worth it. There's no need to get angry with that kind of person."

Han Shuang, who had been smiling faintly, suddenly turned to a sad face after hearing Feng Junzi's words. She raised her fist and punched Feng Junzi in the chest, saying in a tearful voice, "Why are you so annoying? Can't you just pretend you don't know? Why do you have to make me cry?"

Feng Junzi felt a chill run down his spine and could only continue to speak softly, "I was wrong, but I don't want to see you hiding here sadly. They are not good people. You are a good person. Good people don't grieve for bad people. Please stop crying, okay?"

Han Shuang: "Do you think I'm crying for them? I'm crying for myself!"

Feng Junzi understood somewhat, but he could only continue to pretend to be confused: "Aren't you doing fine?"

Han Shuang: "Am I really that good? Are you telling the truth? Actually, you're just like those other people, you all look down on me, don't you? You're the one who said, 'A man who isn't a playboy in his youth has wasted his life'?"

Feng Junzi: "I didn't mean it. Besides, there's nothing wrong with saying that. That's just the kind of person they see me as."
