Les Secrets du Paradis, Saison 4 - Chapitre 15

Chapitre 15

"kindness?"

"Treat me to a meal! I helped you so much today, aren't you going to show your appreciation?"

"Ah, okay. But..." He nodded, then looked at his clothes, which were torn in many places, "Can I go back and change my clothes first?"

"Okay, but you have to wear those two pieces."

Feng Nian'en opened her mouth wide in embarrassment.

The girl chuckled and shook her head: "You silly goose..."

Feng Nian'en changed her clothes and, at Si Wen's request, went to a hot pot restaurant in the city center. This time, the girl didn't order as much as she had in the bakery; she simply ordered a spicy broth, two bottles of beer, and some beef and vegetables.

"Is that enough?" he asked, bewildered.

"Is that not enough? You can order more if you want, and..." she smiled mysteriously, "you'll see once you try it."

Their food was served quickly. Feng Nian'en finally understood why the girl had smiled so mysteriously. The taste here wasn't much different from a regular hot pot restaurant, but it was spicy! A spicy flavor with a numbing, fragrant, and sweet undertone. It was so spicy that it made you sweat and tears well up in your eyes, yet you couldn't stop eating it.

Steaming smoke, the aroma of hot pot seasoning, and the buzzing noise. Feng Nian'en had rarely visited such a small shop in the past three years, but sitting here now, he felt a sense of happiness. A happiness that felt like a distant memory.

Just as the two were eating and sweating profusely, a voice interrupted them.

"Hey, isn't this Ziguang? Got another sucker in?"

Feng Nian'en looked up and saw that the person who came was a woman of about twenty years old. Like Zhang Hanwen, she had dyed her hair red. Although she had a few freckles the size of millet on her cheeks, her appearance was still quite pretty. However, her slanted eyes made her look somewhat mean.

Standing beside her were two men, both around twenty years old. The one on the left was somewhat thin, with a pale, bluish complexion, but delicate features, almost making him appear feminine. The one on the right had long hair and looked quite strong; he was currently frowning, looking impatient. For some reason, Feng Nian'en felt that this long-haired young man looked somewhat familiar, but she couldn't recall where she had seen him before.

Si Wen put down his chopsticks, glanced to the side, and curled his lip slightly: "People these days really have no public spirit. They let their dogs run around everywhere. Can't they see people are eating? What are they barking about!"

"You...!" The freckles on the woman's face looked even more prominent with anger.

"Hey! Isn't this Aunt Linda? When did you get here?" As if suddenly noticing the other person, the girl turned around and asked with feigned surprise, "I'm so sorry, we were just talking about dogs and didn't notice it was you."

"Purple Light!" Linda glared at her through gritted teeth. "Don't go too far! Do you think you can still be as arrogant as before after being dumped by Suzuka?"

Si Wen yawned casually: "That's strange. I haven't seen any dogs, but I keep hearing them barking. Ah... Aunt Linda, I'm not talking about you, don't take it to heart. What did you just say, Xu Zuo? I think you've misunderstood. There's nothing between Xu Zuo and me from the beginning. He likes to talk to me, but I'm smart, unlike some people... Ah, sorry, sorry, I didn't mean Aunt Linda is brainless, I absolutely didn't mean that."

“You…” Linda took a deep breath and forced a smile, “Heh, it’s no big deal to say it now, but why didn’t you say it back then?”

"Back then? What back then? Did I ever say that I was Suza's girlfriend? Did Suza ever tell anyone that I was his woman? No, right? -- Sigh, some people, because they're too embarrassed to talk about it, always like to think about things that aren't exactly aboveboard."

“Okay, very good! So who is he to you?” she said, pointing at Feng Nian’en. “And what is your relationship with this guy?”

"Him?" Siwen smiled slightly and whispered in Linda's ear, "Auntie seems to care a lot about my friendships. Could it be... that she has some special intentions towards me? You know, our country is very conservative. Although I personally don't look down on Auntie's sexuality, but... sigh, it's hard to say about others."

"Purple light!" Linda's freckles turned red, her almond-shaped eyes widened, and she looked as if she wanted to devour the girl whole.

"Fine!" The girl suddenly stood up straight. "Even if he's the new rich guy I hooked up with, he's my boyfriend now. Does Auntie have any objections?"

"I wouldn't say I have an opinion." As if she had finally found some leverage, she sneered, "But this guy is so weak, can he handle you?"

"How did Auntie know he was weak? Could it be... umm?" She deliberately drew out the word, smiling ambiguously.

Linda raised her head, ignoring the implication in her words: "Whether he's weak or not, we'll find out by trying. Do you dare let him compete against Jersey in the Moonlight Triathlon tomorrow?"

Upon hearing this, the long-haired young man next to him frowned even more deeply, but said nothing.

"The three moonlit nights, I thought Auntie wanted to try them out herself."

"Dare you?" Linda looked at her provocatively.

"Dare you?" Si Wen chuckled. "Go ask the entire Moonlit Clan if there's anyone I wouldn't dare to do?"

"You mean you're going to let him participate?"

"What's the big deal? But since we're betting, there should be some kind of prize. I wonder if Auntie would be willing to let me have her Harley?"

Linda hesitated for a moment, but seeing the mocking look on her face, she gritted her teeth and said, "Fine, but what if you lose?"

“I lost…” Si Wen snapped his fingers. “I might as well get out of the Moonlit Clan from now on.”

"Remember what you said!" Linda stamped her foot and turned to leave with the two boys.

Seeing her leave the store, Si Wen pursed his lips, turned around, and stared straight at Feng Nian'en, making him feel uneasy.

"Um, is there something you need?"

"Come on, you're not deaf, didn't you hear what I said to her?"

Feng Nian'en gave an awkward laugh: "Well, I think you were just joking, right?"

"Is that so?" The girl gave a cold laugh. "No! I would never play with the Moonlit Clan, no matter what I play with."

Feng Nian'en groaned, "I don't know anything about the Moonlit Clan or the Moonlit Trilogy, but... I can't do it. Please, either stop now or find someone else."

"If you don't know, why do you say it's no good? Are you even a man?"

"Isn't it obvious? What you want to do is something I'm not good at." He spread his hands, trying his best to convince her.

"You've already done the arm wrestling."

He nodded.

"You can drink, right?"

He nodded again.

Have you ever ridden a motorcycle?

"No."

Si Wen cursed, "But you must have ridden a bicycle before!"

"Of course I've ridden them, but what does it matter?"

"Alright, you know two of the three. I guarantee you'll learn the other one within an hour!"

She spoke with absolute certainty, as if they could win as long as he learned it.

"ah?"

"Arm wrestling, drinking, and motorcycle racing—that's the Moonlight Trio."

Feng Nian'en blinked, her thoughts momentarily in disarray.

"Eat up! After you finish eating, I'll find a place to teach you how to ride a motorcycle."

He snapped out of his daze and quickly shook his head, "No, no, that won't do."

"What's wrong with that?" the girl glared at him, her expression one of absolute certainty.

Feng Nian'en swallowed hard before stammering, "Well, I... I'm not one of you, um... that group, and... and I have no interest in joining, so..."

"Damn it!" Before he could finish speaking, the girl cursed, "Who told you to participate? And do you think it's so easy to join the Moonlit Clan? I'm only letting you participate in tomorrow's competition! You dare refuse me?"

"Um, um..."

"What?!" Si Wenli narrowed his eyes. "Believe me or not, I can make those brats unafraid of you today, and make them run away at the sight of you tomorrow!"

Feng Nian'en stared at her blankly.

"Do you want to go?" Although it was a question, the tone left no room for argument.

He slumped his shoulders helplessly: "Do whatever you want, but don't blame me if you lose."

"As long as you've done your best, you won't lose!"

I don't have your confidence. Although he thought this to himself, he knew the girl wouldn't listen. His only prayer was not to lose too badly, lest she fly into a rage.

Even with half a plate of beef and a large amount of vegetables left, neither of them had the appetite to continue. Although Feng Nian'en wanted to delay, under the girl's repeated urging, she could only chew a few bites of vegetables without tasting anything and get up.

"You don't even have experience riding a regular electric scooter?" The girl asked, tilting her head as they walked on the sidewalk, pulling on his arm.

"No." He even wished he didn't drink if he could.

"But you can drive a car, right?"

"kindness."

"How's your skill level?"

"It's alright."

What do you mean by "just passable"?

"They can handle most situations, but they definitely don't have the ability to perform special skills."

Si Wen chuckled: "Idiot. Who told you to do stunts? What's the fastest you can go?"

"That car has a top speed of 373 kilometers per hour, I tried it once."

The girl stopped in surprise and looked at him: "You really drove at 373?"

"No, it's still seven kilometers away."

"real?"

"Well, but I only lasted ten minutes." His tone remained calm, without any sign of excitement.

"Even five minutes is incredible. 330 kilometers per hour, my god! Only a sports car can do that. If it were a regular car, it would have fallen apart long ago."

As they spoke, the two arrived at a motor vehicle repair shop, and the girl walked in casually.

"Big-headed snake! Big-headed snake!"

“I’m here…” A young man with a disproportionately large head stood up from behind a motorcycle. “Hey, Ziguang!”

"Hey!" The girl tossed him a cigarette.

"Give me a cigarette, Ziguang," the young man shook his large head, "I need to borrow your car again."

"What, you don't want to?"

"No, no, no, it's an honor for me, Big Head Snake, to borrow a car from Ziguang, but the cars in the shop can't go too fast today."

"It's okay, today is just a trial. Hope you can get a good car by tomorrow."

"Tomorrow..." The young man took the lighter the girl tossed to him, lit a cigarette, thought for a moment, and said, "I'll try my best."
