Chapitre 29

I hurriedly got dressed, and Baozi asked curiously, "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to find a prostitute!"

Baozi wasn't angry at all, and said with a smile, "I'll give you another chance. What are you going to do?"

I said with a long face, "What else can I do? Let's go outside for a smoke and calm down."

Baozi said, "Go ahead, go ahead." Then she added, "I'll give you five minutes."

Poor me, clutching a pack of cigarettes, I stepped out of the room, wanting to check on Liu Bang and the others again, only to see Jin Shaoyan being politely seen off by Li Shishi. Li Shishi didn't see me and went straight back. Jin Shaoyan, however, saw me clearly, gave me an awkward smile, and then asked curiously, "Why are you out here too?"

I sighed: "Baozi...is here."

This time, it was Jin Shaoyan's turn to stamp his feet, pound his chest, and laugh: "Serves you right!"

I lit a cigarette, but Jin Shaoyan snatched it from my hand, took two hard drags, coughed from the smoke, and laughed, "I was just saying I forgot to remind you to try the hotel's liquid condoms."

I said in a harsh tone, "You want to give it a try, don't you?"

Jin Shaoyan became serious: "I really never thought about touching her. I'm going back in three days, so even if I were to touch her, it would be a matter for later."

"Don't even think about it!"

Jin Shaoyan stared at me and demanded, "Why don't you agree to me being with Xiaonan? I'm serious!"

To be honest, I've already fallen for Jin Shaoyan now, and my attitude towards him and Li Shishi has become more accommodating. But even if he's serious, Li Shishi only has a year left. Just as I was about to speak, my brick-like phone rang, displaying the message: Jin Shaoyan (1).

I was taken aback. I first showed Jin Shaoyan the caller ID, then answered. Jin Shaoyan's cold and resolute voice said, "I've hated you all day, but the more I think about it, the more interesting you seem. I'd like to invite you to dinner tomorrow. Would you do me the honor?"

I looked at Jin Shaoyan with a questioning gaze, and he said loudly, "Say yes!" I gestured for him to be quiet, but he still said loudly, "It's okay, he can't hear me."

So I said, "Okay, tell me the location."

"Tomorrow at noon, Caesar Restaurant, see you there." After saying this, Jin Shaoyan No. 1 hung up the phone.

Chapter Thirty-Four: A Brick

It's Caesar again. This kid still dares to go. Jin Shaoyan also felt a headache coming on when he heard about this place. He cautiously asked, "How do you plan to get there?"

"Take a motorcycle taxi."

Jin Shaoyan rolled his eyes, looking like he was about to faint.

I laughed and said, "I was just kidding. Don't worry, if he really wants to reconcile with me, I'll take the opportunity to back down, so we can still be friends in the future."

"I'll drive you there tomorrow."

"Don't bother. If you and him run into each other in the parking lot again, it'll be like a car without a driver." I lit another cigarette and said, "At least you're not completely senile, you know what's good for you."

Jin Shaoyan suddenly revealed a world-weary smile that seemed out of place with his playboy image: "Brother Qiang, do you know why, even though it's only been five short days, he and I are so different?"

My curiosity was piqued, so I asked, "What happened?"

Jin Shaoyan smiled bitterly, "Actually, after I died, my soul lingered in the mortal world for three days before being taken back. I was fortunate enough to witness my own funeral. I saw with my own eyes the tragic scene of my 80-year-old grandmother, an elderly woman burying her child. My parents were both very important people, but I had never seen them smile in my entire life. I thought they didn't love me, but I saw them crying their hearts out. That's when I realized that family is family, irreplaceable. I was so ignorant before."

"And my so-called friends, they came to my funeral more to show off their acting skills than to attend. Many of them put eye drops in their eyes before getting out of the car, and some even rubbed chili oil on their eyes."

"The most ridiculous thing is that all my women who became famous said they didn't know me. One of the most famous actresses almost signed up for an Antarctic expedition just to avoid this incident. But that's not all. The most ridiculous thing is that I didn't know most of the women who came. After the funeral, they swarmed around the reporters, claiming to be my confidantes, and some could even recount the details. I'm already grateful that they didn't hire a few kids to throw themselves on my body and call me 'Dad.'"

I couldn't help but laugh when I heard this. Jin Shaoyan glared at me and continued, "After going through all that, it's impossible for a person not to change. That's when I realized I didn't actually have a single friend." Finally, Jin Shaoyan concluded with deep emotion, "Rich people are all the same!"

After I returned to my room, something funny happened again. Although the management here is strict, I still experienced varying degrees of harassment. Every time I called, the woman on the other end would ask in the same indiscriminate, coquettish voice: "Sir, would you like some services?"

I answered the first two calls. When the third call came in, Baozi snatched the phone away. As soon as the caller spoke, she asked him menacingly, "How much?" The woman screamed and hung up. When the fourth call came in, Baozi did the same thing, thinking she would scare the woman away. But the woman was even more ruthless: "Should I bring my own vibrator or not?!" Fearless Baozi screamed and hung up.

The next day, before I went to the appointment, Jin Shaoyan had already sent me a suit. I took a taxi to the opposite side of Caesar's, and then walked over. The taxi driver from last time actually recognized me and said to me ingratiatingly, "Young Master Jin is already waiting for you."

I glanced at my watch and it wasn't even midnight yet. It's impressive that this guy waited for someone; he seemed quite sincere. As soon as I entered, I saw him sitting in the same spot we had sat last time. When he saw me, he called over a waiter and asked him to lead me over.

Why don't you just shout it out? It seems the aristocratic sentiment of Gold 1 isn't so easily faded.

Jin Shaoyan looked at me, dressed neatly, nodded in satisfaction, and said to me, "I thought you would come wearing the same outfit as yesterday again. I was prepared to embarrass myself."

I sat down and said, "This is what they call killing someone but not killing them. Yesterday is yesterday, but it would be unethical to do the same thing today."

Just then, the waiter who had taken our order last time came up to us with a grin. He probably thought Jin Shaoyan was a very easygoing and joking person ever since that last time. He smiled and said, "Young Master Jin, are you drinking Sanliangye again today?"

Jin Shaoyan was stunned for a moment, then said in a gloomy tone, "Go and call your manager. Are all Caesar's people this unruly?" The waiter's face turned green when he saw that Jin Shaoyan was not joking. If he received a complaint from a customer of Jin Shaoyan's caliber, he would definitely lose his job.

I quickly changed the subject, but Jin Shaoyan, still angry, said, "The people here are acting strangely today. When I parked, the valet even asked me why my friends weren't here. I don't think I've ever eaten here with that many people before."

Jin Shaoyan's mood improved only when the bright, smooth red wine and crisp, green vegetables arrived. Under Jin 2's guidance, I used the knife and fork quite smoothly. Jin Shaoyan said in surprise, "I never thought you could be so refined. Yesterday you were acting like a complete scoundrel."

I said, "Why do you all use the word 'like'? I am what I am."

Jin Shaoyan, however, didn't pay attention to the second half of the sentence. He asked curiously, "You guys? Who else has said that?" Fortunately, he didn't really want to know. He pressed me, "How do you know that 'fighting again and again after repeated defeats' will lead to victory?"

I leaned closer to him mysteriously and said, "Actually, I can judge horses..."

Jin Shaoyan, lured by my advances, also came closer and said, "Can you tell me about it?"

I said, "Look at that 'repeatedly defeated but never giving up' horse..." That's when I realized I knew absolutely nothing about judging horses! Jin Shaoyan moved even closer, so I could only say, "Look at that 'repeatedly defeated but never giving up' horse... it looks like a mule, there's no reason it can't run fast!"

Oh, it's not my fault. I don't know who I learned that saying from, that to praise a horse, you have to say it looks like a mule.

Jin Shaoyan paused for a moment, then remembered that I had said this before, and burst into laughter: "You're so funny! Do you know why I like you? Actually, even if you really were the God of Horses, I wouldn't need you to make money for me. I like you because seeing you reminds me of my grandmother."
