Kapitel 8

The results for the remaining subjects came out one after another, and thankfully, there wasn't another disastrous result like the one in English. Because Qin Chu's science scores were so outstanding, his image as a top student didn't collapse, and he still managed to sit in third place, albeit tentatively.

Due to mental issues, Zhou Sisi underperformed in all subjects except Chinese, and thus fell out of the top ten this time.

What surprised Qin Chu was Zhao Yuan.

This child scored zero in Chinese, but still ranked eighth in the grade. Although this is because the students at No. 1 Middle School are generally not very good, it also shows that Zhao Yuan has a pretty stable attitude towards learning.

She had good grades, was hardworking, and even helped out at home before starting school.

Qin Chu couldn't understand what had happened that led Zhao Yuan to give up on the college entrance examination.

The lessons in this world were not difficult for Qin Chu; he spent the entire day daydreaming about mission-related matters.

Just before school ended, the homeroom teacher called out, "Cheng Cheng, Zhao Yuan, you two wait a moment after school."

Because of his wild and unrestrained handwriting, Qin Chu was called on by almost every teacher today. His homeroom teacher was also the Chinese teacher, so when Qin Chu heard him call his name, he subconsciously thought it was to urge him to practice his handwriting.

Fortunately, the homeroom teacher didn't dwell on the issues that were giving General Qin a headache. After school, he handed the two boys a note and said, "The extra supplementary textbooks that our class ordered have arrived. Our class monitor, Zhou Sisi, is a girl and not very strong, so I'd like to trouble you two boys who live on campus to go to the bookstore outside the school to carry them today."

Hearing this, Qin Chu felt relieved, as he needed to familiarize himself with his surroundings anyway. But soon Qin Chu noticed that the homeroom teacher had already left the classroom, and then slapped his forehead, turned back, pointed at him, and emphasized, "Cheng Cheng, don't forget to buy a calligraphy practice book!"

Qin Chu: "..." Is this ever going to end?

The two left the school together. Qin Chu didn't know where the bookstore was, so he simply tossed the note to Zhao Yuan and asked him to lead the way.

Senior high school students get out of school late, and by the time evening self-study ends, it's completely dark. The streetlights outside are dim and yellowish, and on average, three out of every two break down, so the light is almost negligible.

They came out a little late; the day students had already gone home one after another, leaving only a few people at the school gate.

At first it was fine, but after turning a corner, there wasn't a soul in sight.

Qin Chu was following Zhao Yuan while fiddling with the English materials he needed to print on his phone, but as they walked, he noticed that the guy had shrunk behind him.

Qin Chu stopped and turned to look behind him: "Don't tell me you're afraid of the dark?"

Zhao Yuan's voice was pitiful: "Is it abnormal to be afraid of the dark? Cheng Cheng, aren't you afraid?"

Qin Chu continued walking forward with a cold face: "What's there to be afraid of?"

Zhao Yuan's voice became even more pitiful: "I'm afraid of ghosts too."

Qin Chu: "..."

Holding his anger, Qin Chu walked to the fork in the road ahead. Unable to bear it any longer, he threw his phone into Zhao Yuan's arms.

Then, this person, holding a phone, actually said, "Cheng Cheng, our school doesn't allow cell phones."

Qin Chu's fist hardened: "You're really nosy. Afraid of the dark? Can't you just turn on a flashlight?"

"Oh," Zhao Yuan replied, and quickly turned on his phone's flashlight to lead the way.

Noah laughed so hard in Qin Chu's mind: "Sir, you're the worst at dealing with these kinds of people. They're not bad people, so you can't just pick them on and beat them up, but they're so cowardly that they annoy you."

"You shut up too," Qin Chu said.

Noah had just fallen silent when the sounds of fighting came from ahead.

Qin Chu looked up and saw a group of people standing on the street corner ahead. They were all young, but had bad tempers and had already started fighting.

The two groups were locked in a fierce fight, not only physically but also verbally.

"Go to hell with you, do you really think you're someone special? You're collecting protection money from my Zhongjie Street?"

"You guys are incompetent yourselves and you won't let others come? From today onwards, this place is ours?"

"Bullshit! If you're so capable, let Meng Bo say those words to Daddy!"

Meng Bo?

Upon hearing the familiar name, Qin Chu looked up and glanced at the chaotic scene.

The people who are now at a disadvantage look somewhat familiar; they seem to be the same group of thugs who stopped Zhou Sisi earlier.

"Cheng Cheng, they're fighting, what... what should we do?"

This group of people happened to be blocking the only way to the bookstore, and the road was so narrow that there was no way to get around.

If he were alone, Qin Chu would definitely beat both groups to a pulp.

But now that Zhao Yuan was with him, Qin Chu didn't want to inadvertently leave Zhao Yuan with the wrong impression that fighting was cool. So Qin Chu kept walking and said in a proper manner, "Make a call to the police and say there's a fight going on."

This guy was incredibly arrogant, not lowering his voice at all. The winning thugs immediately looked over: "Oh? Going to call the police? Who the hell's meddling?"

The leader of the thugs surrounded them: "Didn't you see we were the ones who protected you today? You still have the nerve to complain..."

As they approached, the thug who had been shouting suddenly paused, seemingly after seeing something, but quickly recovered and said, "Instead of calling the police, why not give us a thank-you fee? That way, our efforts today won't have been in vain."

Qin Chu took his arrogant policy to its extreme, simply telling Zhao Yuan, "Keep fighting."

He didn't want to get involved in other people's business right now, and calling the police would also help Zhao Yuan correct his values.

"Call the police? You're going to call the police, you son of a bitch?"

Just then, a thug reached out to stop Zhao Yuan, and with a "thud," Qin Chu's phone fell to the ground.

Qin Chu looked over with a blank expression and saw a large crack on the phone screen.

With the appearance of this crack, Qin's already meager life became even more difficult.

Chapter 9, First Story (7)

"What are you looking at! Don't you even know who on this street doesn't give my brother Yang face?"

The young boy in the lead shouted something, but when he met Qin Chu's gaze, he became even more timid than fierce.

As he was muttering to himself, "This guy seems to be someone important," he turned around and saw that the group of people who had been beaten to the ground were getting up one after another.

It would be bad if we were attacked from both sides.

Yang was immediately worried when he saw those bastards turn around and run away as if they had seen a ghost, yelling "Holy crap!"

The group ran so swiftly that Yang and his men's legs trembled, and they instinctively wanted to run as well.

No, I need to muster up my courage.

This guy simply stepped on Qin Chu's phone, then lifted his head and gave it a shake.

"Don't be so timid," Yang Ge rallied himself, "Brothers, let's go!"

Anyway, there are more of them.

Even as the slap landed on his forehead, Yang Ge still thought the same way.

No one saw how Qin Chu fought back against the group of people attacking him. In any case, in no time, they were all crouching in the corner with their heads in their hands, and some even wanted to line up to call him "Dad".

The final scene that everyone saw was a model student wearing a high school uniform, holding a phone with a cracked screen in one hand and slapping Yang Ge on the forehead with the other.

"Step on me? Try stepping on me again!"

"Collecting protection money? How old are you, kid? Why aren't you in school and instead of doing this?"

Poor Yang, who had dropped out of school many years ago, actually experienced the power of the head teacher once again on this night.

With Zhao Yuan by his side and a bunch of kids who had just come of age in front of him, Qin Chu didn't really get serious.

If his phone hadn't been smashed, he wouldn't have wanted to move his hand at all.

Yang couldn't take it anymore, not from being beaten, but from the psychological pressure he was under.

He covered his head and couldn't help but want to beg for mercy, but after glancing up in a certain direction, he could only grit his teeth and say something harsh.

But he couldn't bring himself to say those harsh words to Qin Chu. In the end, the guy was caught in a dilemma. His lips trembled for a long time, and he finally burst into tears.

Qin Chu felt no remorse for scaring people to tears.

He straightened up and waved his battered phone: "What am I going to do with my phone?"

Yang Ge and his underlings were startled and immediately offered up their remaining balances, pleading in unison with tearful voices, "There's a mobile phone store right next door! Go buy another one!"

A perfectly normal offer of compensation sounded like a curse being sent away.

Qin Chu was a little stunned by how quickly the kids moved. He didn't mind, only charging them about the same price as his own phone, and watched the group of kids tumble and crawl away.

As Qin Chu walked towards the mobile phone store, he suddenly remembered that Zhao Yuan, that coward, was following him.

He had expected Zhao Yuan to be trembling with fear, but when he turned around and looked at him, he found that he was alright.

The man stood under the streetlight, casting a long shadow. Seeing Qin Chu looking over, he asked, "Is your hand alright?"

Zhao Yuan was just standing there dumbfounded, not even knowing how to dodge. It was Qin Chu who reached out and took a blow for him, then grabbed him and dragged him to the side.

Qin Chu waved his hand dismissively, saying only, "Hurry up and move the books."

He continued walking toward the bookstore, but suddenly felt a little confused.

Why is Zhao Yuan so calm this time?

But in an instant, Qin Chu felt someone following him like a tail.

"Hey deskmate, that was really scary!"

"They're fighting with sticks!"

"Oh, I'm so scared my legs are weak, can you help me up?"

Qin Chu: "...You'd better shut up."

It was getting late, so the two hurried toward the bookstore.

What Qin Chu didn't see was that behind him, the night wind ruffled Zhao Yuan's overly long bangs, revealing a pair of rather intrigued eyes.

They were delayed for a while, and by the time they arrived at their destination, the bookstore was about to close.

After quickly finishing their business, the two boarding students rushed back to school.

After walking past the section of road, Qin Chu stopped and took a look.

I overheard these two groups hurling insults at each other. This tiny place has actually been divided into territories. Meng Bo is clearly the leader of the other group.

Zhao Yuan was very quiet, carrying his books and trailing behind Qin Chu.

However, when Qin Chu was moving the books, he discovered that the kid was quite strong, as most of the books were packed into his backpack.

Qin Chu was unfamiliar with his surroundings, and when he thought of Meng Bo, he instinctively wanted to ask Zhao Yuan if he knew him. But before he could speak, he remembered that he couldn't pique Zhao Yuan's interest in these dropouts and troublemakers, so he swallowed his question.
