Having his intentions exposed, the hunter remained calm. He leaned against the window and laughed for a while before opening the window and swaggering in.
K circled Qin Chu twice, his gaze lingering on Qin Chu's face, which was covered in gruesome makeup. Finally, he shook his head and sighed, "Darling, I can't bear to do it to you like this."
"How dare you!" the butler continued to scold.
Qin Chu was so angry that his eyebrows twitched, but then he felt the mud on his face sticking out, and he couldn't even raise his eyebrows.
But after staring at the hunter's smug grin for a while, Qin Chu strangely calmed down. His sharp eyes coldly fixed on K, the embarrassment of being caught in the act dissipating, replaced by a hint of…malice?
At first, the hunter found Qin Chu quite interesting, but as he watched him, he strangely sensed a sense of danger.
His smile remained unchanged as he gave Qin Chu an exaggerated bow: "Sorry to bother you. Since you're busy, I'll be going now?"
As the hunter was about to open the window and climb out, he heard a cool voice behind him as he leaned halfway out: "Stop."
K's body is unable to move.
"Come back." Qin Chu then used language to control K, who could only stiffen and walk back.
"Don't be so petty. It's just that I discovered a little secret of yours. It's not like I have to kill you to cover it up." The man was still smiling as he bargained with Qin Chu. "Besides, I'm still your food supply. Your Highness, don't be too cruel to yourself."
Qin Chu sneered.
Now you know to call him Your Highness?
The issue of food rations is nothing; now, every breath he takes smells of the mud on his face, making even the aroma of braised pork pale in comparison.
Ignoring the hunter's persistent pestering, Qin Chu turned to the butler beside him and, despite the butler's disapproving gaze, said, "Apply it to him too."
K: "???"
The butler vehemently refused: "Your Highness, this lowly vampire is not worthy of your expensive face mask."
"It's okay, my food can't have an ugly face on it." It's best to smear it all over his face, leaving nothing behind.
K couldn't help but chuckle, only to find that the butler seemed to think Qin Chu's words made a lot of sense, and was actually looking at him with the tray in hand...
K glanced at Qin Chu's comical face, then at the butler who was rolling up his sleeves to get to work, and his smile froze a little.
The butler put his gloves back on.
Qin Chu let out a cold laugh, only to feel a chill on his cheek as a lump of fresh mud was smeared on his face.
The butler said worriedly, "Your Highness, please don't move. The face mask is cracked."
Qin Chu: "..." Damn it.
The hunter burst into laughter, but then his eyes lit up as he saw the butler thrusting a brownish-green unidentified object toward him, and his laughter immediately stopped.
Although K considered himself well-informed, he still shrank back a little in surprise at the scene.
Qin Chu, who was waiting to see a good show, immediately spoke up: "Don't move."
The hunter's smile vanished: "Let's make a deal. It's just a small matter; there's no need to take it so seriously..."
Before he could finish speaking, the mud was already smeared on his face.
A few minutes later, Qin Chu looked at the hunter's face and sighed coolly, "You scared me to death."
K: "..."
Before long, the butler made his successful retreat, leaving Qin Chu and the hunter, two green-faced monsters, staring at each other in the room.
Compared to Prince Qin Chu, K's treatment was much worse; his face was covered in pockmarks by the steward, making him look utterly wretched.
Qin Chu could be quite ruthless when he really wanted to mess with someone. He even had the butler move the full-length mirror in the room behind him, directly facing the hunter, to ensure that the hunter could see his current foolish appearance at all times.
The hunter, who had been standing there frozen, actually looked up at the mirror.
He looked at it for a while, then exclaimed quite seriously, "After looking at it for a while with this new look, it's actually not bad?"
Qin Chu was shocked by this person's shamelessness.
However, he had no mind to do anything else at the moment. As soon as he heard the butler's footsteps disappear completely, he immediately stood up and found water to wash off his face.
He had just finished wiping his face when he saw the hunter he was controlling walk over as well.
The hunter followed lazily behind him, starting to play the "family card": "You're one of my first embracers, can I borrow some water?"
Qin Chu looked at him coldly: "You broke free quickly."
"That's right, otherwise why would I dare to come and kill you?" The hunter smiled amiably, seemingly completely unaware of how dangerous his words were.
"You can give it a try." Qin Chu tossed him the water and walked back to the table on his own.
While pouring water to wash his face, K replied, "Let's skip it today. After all, we've been through thick and thin together. I'm a very loyal person."
Qin Chu sneered and ignored him.
The man wasn't annoyed.
This must have been his first time sneaking into this bedroom; he seemed to know his way around the room well. Without acting like a stranger, he opened the huge wardrobe, took out a bottle of perfume, and sprayed it on his wrist.
Qin Chu's expression immediately became indescribable.
It's not that I think this person is too flashy, but the smell of perfume on braised pork is really unbearable.
The hunter caught a glimpse of his expression out of the corner of his eye and assumed that he was finally unable to resist his thirst for blood, so he smiled and stepped forward, extending his wrist: "Really not going to have a meal? I've been eating very well lately, don't worry, there's no rat smell in the blood."
The moment he brought his hand to Qin Chu's face, Qin Chu covered her nose and turned her face away, using body language to show her disgust.
K: "..."
Although he meant to annoy Qin Chu, Qin Chu's reaction was so obvious that it made him lose face...
Qin Chu's words were succinct: "Get lost."
Upon hearing this, the hunter lowered his head and sniffed his own scent, then looked up at Qin Chu and couldn't help but mutter, "You were quite happy biting me before I hadn't showered, why are you picking on me now?"
Hearing this, Qin Chu felt even more nauseous. He couldn't bear it any longer, so he went straight to the window, pulled back the curtains, and opened all the windows.
The already scorching sunlight streamed into the room, illuminating what was once a dark space.
K retreated into the shadows, sighing and shaking his head: "My dear prince, although you are not afraid of the sunlight, you should also take care of the lives of us lowly vampires."
Qin Chu: "Oh." She simply reached out and opened all the curtains.
Poor K, a grown man, could only hide in the corner of the cabinet with a long face.
Seeing this, Qin Chu finally felt refreshed and sat back down at the table.
He glanced at the hunter crouching in the corner and cut straight to the point: "Who sent you to kill me?"
Upon hearing this, K was taken aback at first, then chuckled softly as if he had heard something amusing, and even started clapping as he laughed.
He laughed to himself for a long time before raising his head and looking at Qin Chu with a sigh: "Your Highness, half a year has passed since I assassinated you, and you've finally remembered to ask this question."
Qin Chu: "..." He's only been here a few days, thank you.
Qin Chu wanted to find out about the current state of human territory, but the man in the corner wasn't very cooperative. He ruffled his slightly long hair, looked at Qin Chu with a pair of smiling eyes, and asked, "Your Highness, what do you think? Besides us lowly humans, who else would want to kill you?"
Qin Chu was taken aback by the question.
Although he had been a vampire for a few days, he still did not change his self-perception.
Even knowing that K was hired by humans, Qin Chu still felt that it was just a certain person or force that wanted to kill him for some specific reason.
But after hearing K's words, Qin Chu realized that he was now a vampire, inherently opposed to humans. It wasn't just one person who wanted to kill him; it was all of humanity that wanted to kill him.
There is no reason.
Qin Chu did not answer, but turned to look at the bright daylight outside.
The room fell silent suddenly, and you could almost hear the air flowing quietly.
K leaned against the corner, looking at Qin Chu sitting at the small table.
Because of the indoor light, his eyes were half-closed. Qin Chu was sitting in the sunlight, so K couldn't see Qin Chu's expression clearly, only noticing the man's cold face and straight back.
K suddenly remembered Qin Chu, whom he had seen during the day yesterday. He was standing outside a low house where humans lived, and the humans around him were all kneeling on the ground in front of him.
But the vampire prince showed no smugness or disdain on his face; he remained as cold and aloof as ever, revealing no hint of anything amiss.
K looked up at the inside of his wrist and found that the crisscrossing bite marks had healed, leaving only faint marks on his skin.
The vampire in front of him hadn't eaten for several days.
Looking at Qin Chu, who was almost melting into the light, K twitched the corner of his mouth. He thought, "What an interesting vampire."
As the sun rose higher in the sky, the room grew brighter. Due to his vampire nature, K hid in a corner and dozed off for a while.
When he opened his eyes again, he saw Qin Chu sitting at the table with one hand supporting his forehead, probably taking a nap as well.
K found it quite interesting.
They clearly hadn't let their guard down around each other, yet both fell into a light sleep when the other was around.
"Hey, that prince," K said with a laugh, his voice slightly hoarse from his recent light sleep.
The person at the table replied to him, their tone as unpleasant as ever: "Why haven't you left yet?"
K yawned: "You're not being sincere at all. The curtains are wide open and I can't move at all. Where are you going?"
He glanced again at the coffin in the center of the bedroom.
This coffin probably never expected that it would one day be exposed to the scorching sun; the pure black coffin lid looked scalding hot.
"Let's make a deal," K continued. "Since we're going to sleep anyway, you go into your coffin and, while you're at it, close the curtains so I can get out smoothly, okay?"
His words somehow hit a nerve with Qin Chu, who immediately retorted, "You're the one who's in the coffin."
K stroked his chin, pondered for a couple of seconds, and felt that what he said sounded a bit like flirting.
He pondered for a moment with a rather serious expression: "If you really insist... that's fine too?"
Qin Chu was speechless with anger.
Not wanting to share a room with this thing any longer, he got up and pulled the curtains halfway up, just enough to cover the distance between the cabinet and the door.
However, he had no intention of going into the coffin and returned to the table to close his eyes and pretend to sleep.
The person who had said he was going to leave earlier changed his mind. K sat on the ground, stretched his body, and began to swagger around in the expanded shadows, observing Qin Chu.
"Aren't you going to get some sleep?"
"After not drinking blood for so long, you're out sunbathing again. Anyone who didn't know better would think you, a prince, were trying to commit suicide."
"Tsk, other vampires can just commit suicide by sunbathing, but it's really difficult for you to do it."
