Gu Xiju nodded and then asked, "Have you found out why she came to the capital?"

"The Holy Maiden of the Moon Worship has come to investigate the whereabouts of Young Master Zuo Nanyi," the black-clad scout replied quickly. "It is said that she paid a high price to have Gu Gong take on this deal, and tomorrow is the day to obtain the intelligence as agreed."

A glint flashed in Gu Xiju's eyes, and he sneered through his nose: "She's not giving up."

Then he raised his white porcelain teacup, looked up at the full moon outside the window, and asked casually, "Wupeng, if a cat you've raised with such care suddenly wanted to leave you and go to live with someone else, what would you do?"

The black-clad scout paused, then his eyes gleamed: "Naturally, we'll capture him and discipline him severely."

After listening, Gu Xiju's eyes curved into a smile without revealing any emotion.

[Reunion]

Lu Kui stared blankly at the black-haired girl in red sleeping on the couch for a moment.

She thought she would never see her again, but unexpectedly she came back, like a lingering ghost.

Perhaps because she had taken the medicine, the girl slept soundly, her breathing even and her face serene, completely unaware that she had already been moved from the carriage to Yanbo Manor.

Lu Kui didn't understand at all why the leader would go to such lengths to capture this demonic sect woman who was said to have lost all her inner strength.

Even if she is just a chess piece, she should have already lost her usefulness. Shouldn't she be discarded immediately as usual?

She heard rustling footsteps at the door and looked up to see a tall figure lift the curtain and slip in.

"Alliance Leader." She quickly stood up and bowed.

The person nodded to her and made a shushing gesture.

Lu Kui knew exactly what her master was thinking, so she quickly bowed and took her leave, glancing back reluctantly before leaving.

The master leaned against the coffee table, his gaze fixed intently on the sleeping girl.

Pang Wan opened her eyes and saw his gaze scrutinizing her.

Incense smoke rose from the burner, and silk curtains hung to the ground. The woman rested her cheek on her hand and her arm on the carved tea table, her eyes hazy as if she were admiring a precious, fragile jade artifact through the smoke. For a moment, she almost thought she was dreaming, a nightmare.

However, she quickly realized what was happening.

"You arrested me?" She brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, her face pale, but her expression remained barely composed. "Why did you arrest me?"

Gu Xiju's lips curled up slightly, the curve gentle and charming: "What do you think?"

He should take the initiative in all games; he doesn't like answering questions from others, as that would mean losing the upper hand.

"You don't want me to know the whereabouts of the Southern Barbarian?" Pang Wan gritted her teeth. "You don't want me to meet him. You're afraid that if I persuade him to return to the Moon Worship Cult, all your efforts will be in vain?"

"Smart." Gu Xiju smiled. He reached out to ruffle her hair, but Pang Wan dodged him silently.

"No matter how you try to hide, you can never escape me in this lifetime." He wasn't angry. He lowered his head and looked at her with pity, his eyes even more tender and affectionate. "Don't forget that you have the mark I carved on you."

Pang Wan subconsciously touched her left chest—the scar was still there, but her heart no longer ached.

“I’ve said it before, as long as I live, I will never let you have your way.” She looked up at him, scoffed, her almond-shaped eyes filled with determination and stubbornness. “If you’re so afraid of me, you might as well kill me.”

"Who told me I failed to kill you back then?" Gu Xiju tilted his chin back as if he'd heard a lame joke. "It's just a pity that fate wouldn't allow it."

“Even God can’t bear to see you leave me.” He gripped her chin effortlessly, his eyelashes drooping, his expression cold and icy. “Perhaps it’s all destined.”

The man's arrogant and predatory aura assaulted Pang Wan's senses, making her feel nauseous. She reached out to push him away.

Unfortunately, she had no internal energy left, and her punches and kicks were like a kitten scratching at his body, which made him chuckle.

"Shh, listen to me, stay here with me and don't go out and cause trouble." Gu Xiju held her hands and patted her face. "Nan Yi is someone I absolutely cannot let you see. Only you can persuade him now. I won't take the risk."

Flames burned in Pang Wan's eyes: "If you have the guts, kill us both and eliminate the root of the problem!"

Gu Xiju chuckled, "Killing your senior brother won't be easy. Now that his divine skills are complete, he's probably evenly matched with me." He gently pinched Pang Wan's nose, coaxing her as if it were real, "Killing you would be easy, but I just can't bear to." Pang Wan opened her mouth and tried to bite his finger. Gu Xiju couldn't dodge in time and was caught off guard.

Seeing that his revenge had succeeded, Pang Wan exerted even more force, his sharp tiger teeth piercing through his flesh and drawing blood, his mouth filled with a sweet, metallic taste.

Gu Xiju did not struggle at all, but looked at her with a smile. He even raised his other hand and gently stroked the girl's smooth, jade-like cheek. He looked at her with rapt attention, as if he were admiring a work of art he had carefully created, with a satisfied expression on his face.

Pang Wan bit down for a long time, until her gums ached and tears streamed down her face.

She didn't want to cry; she didn't want to shed a single tear in front of this scumbag. Yet, the tears just wouldn't stop flowing.

Seeing her face streaked with tears, Gu Xiju sighed, pried open her chin, and removed his finger.

"Are you calmed down? Hmm?" He ignored his injured hand and pulled her into his arms.

Pang Wan took a deep breath and stared into his eyes: "If you leave me here, my fiancé will not let you go."

A strange light flashed in Gu Xiju's eyes.

"Fiancé?" He lifted her chin, his hot and oppressive breath drawing near. "When did you get engaged?"

Pang Wan's smile widened inch by inch: "You have no right to interfere in my affairs."

However, this was precisely the sentence that Gu Xiju couldn't bear to hear.

“How could I not have the right to ask?” He gazed at her, his smile growing brighter, the warmth of his palm rising steadily. “Don’t forget who made you who you are today.”

From an invincible Holy Maiden of the Demonic Cult, she was reduced to an ordinary person with not even a trace of internal energy.

From an innocent girl who loved white clothes and skirts, she transformed into a red-clad witch filled with hatred.

He was the instigator, the creator of all this; he was her god, and he was involved in every important aspect of her life.
