Kapitel 102

Xiao Ning didn't care. He would be released from prison in three days anyway, so even if the instant noodles in his cell were precious, he wouldn't care. He was just having fun.

He nodded: "We'll split up the bet. Brother Long and I will bet separately on whether there are any new recruits entering the prison, and Brother Lin and I will bet on the number of people. Each of us will bet 5 packs of instant noodles. What do you two say, bet or not?"

Wang Chenglin laughed: "Let's bet!"

Wang Hailong agreed.

Watching the three of them make a bet, the others behind them looked on with envy, but they couldn't get a word in edgewise or dare to join in.

Each cell has a leader, and Xiao Ning and his two companions are the leaders of cell 504; this is a tacit rule.

Wang Chenglin, number 1, is mainly responsible for liaising with the supervisors; Wang Hailong, number 2, is responsible for managing the hygiene of the cells; and Xiao Ning, number 3, is responsible for discipline.

Many of the prisoners in the back were new recruits who were unfamiliar with the place and naturally dared not interfere in the affairs of the veterans. Besides, even if they wanted to take a gamble, they had no stakes to bet on.

In the detention center, each person can purchase snacks, milk, and daily necessities on a tablet computer each month, with a monthly allowance of 400 yuan.

The snack milk costs 200 yuan, and there is only one opportunity to purchase it each month, which is on the 25th.

The allowance for daily necessities is also 200 yuan, and it is on the 5th of each month.

Among these green recruits were many millionaires and billionaires, but once inside, they were utterly useless, unable to spend a single penny, as they missed the opportunity to buy goods.

Every day, the veterans eat instant noodles, while the new recruits can only stare wide-eyed and swallow hard. The instant noodles that they used to look down on outside now smell so delicious.

After the bet was settled, everyone watched the news on TV while keeping an eye on the movements outside the door.

Time ticked by, and soon it was 7:24 PM. We were almost finished watching the news, but there was still no movement outside the door.

Wang Hailong was extremely smug. He stood up and shouted, "There are definitely no new recruits coming in today. The detention center stops accepting people at 6 PM. Even if you need to go through the admission procedures, they've already been completed. Aning, you've lost!"

Xiao Ning, however, remained unperturbed: "Nothing is absolute, why are you in such a hurry? It's not time yet, there's still an hour and a half until bedtime at 9 p.m.!"

Wang Hailong touched his nose, remembering Xiao Ning's fierceness, and dared not say anything more. He could only sit down reluctantly: "Then let's wait a little longer!"

After a while, there was a loud "bang". Wang Chenglin raised an eyebrow, put a finger to his lips and said, "Shh, they're here. Everyone sit down. Aning, keep discipline!"

Xiao Ning stood up, turned around and looked behind him, and said loudly, "Sit down, everyone! The supervisor is coming, don't talk!"

The new recruits immediately sat down properly, not daring to cause any trouble.

Then, Xiao Ning lowered his head and looked at Zhang Zhiping behind him.

"Aping, go prepare the red vests; new recruits must be arriving!"

Zhang Zhiping responded, ran to the back, and took out a red vest from the last drawer under the dragon board.

At that moment, the iron door of the cell opened with a loud rumble, and a short boy wearing handcuffs stood in the doorway, holding a blanket and other items, looking at the people inside with a terrified expression.

Chapter 3 Recruit Egg

Seeing the iron gate wide open and a person enter through the steel fence, Xiao Ning immediately understood that someone had committed a crime again and had come in.

He took the red vest from Zhang Zhiping, stepped forward, and first shouted, "Good supervision!"

The supervisor outside the fence nodded without saying a word.

Xiao Ning took the blanket from the recruit again, passed it to Wang Hailong, and then said to the recruit, "Turn around and put your hands out through the bars. The guard will help you remove your handcuffs!"

The new recruit obediently complied. After the supervisor unlocked the handcuffs with a key, he said to Xiao Ning, "Teach him the rules inside!"

Xiao Ning nodded quickly: "Don't worry about the supervision!"

He tossed the red vest to the recruit and said, "Put this vest on and come with me!"

The new recruit nodded blankly and put on the vest as instructed.

Turning to the tablet on the wall, Xiao Ning said to the new recruit, "In a moment, I will press the alarm button and connect to the monitoring center. You will then say to the supervisor, 'Reporting, supervisor, I am a new inmate named [name], reporting for duty. Please give me your instructions!' Do you understand?"

The new recruit replied weakly in a soft voice, "I understand!"

"Okay, I'll press it!"

Xiao Ning nodded and pressed a large red button on the side of the tablet.

A piercing "beep beep beep!" sound rang out. Three seconds later, the beeping stopped, and a supervisor in official uniform appeared on the tablet. Xiao Ning urged the recruit, "Start talking!"

The new recruit stammered, "Reporting...reporting to...supervisor, I am a new inmate, Sun Jinming, here to...report. Please...tell me your instructions!"

On the other end of the video call, the supervisor nodded and said, "Okay, I understand!" Then he hung up the call.

"Boom!"

Seeing this, the supervisor outside the fence pressed the electric button on the outer wall, and the large iron gate inside the fence slowly closed.

As soon as the gate closed, everyone inside crowded around, bombarding the new recruit with questions:

"What did you do to get here?"

"Where are you from?"

Is there anyone else behind?

The commotion made Xiao Ning frown and shout, "What's all the noise about? Sit down, I'm here to ask you something!"

No one dared to say anything, and they all sat obediently in their seats, but their eyes were still fixed in this direction.
