Kapitel 8

"Baby?"

Xia Ran was shocked and couldn't believe that Gu Chen had said those words.

"What are you all standing there for? Aren't you coming with me?"

After walking a short distance, Gu Zheng looked back at Xia Ran again. When he saw that Xia Ran was still standing there in a daze, he felt even more annoyed.

It was just one sentence, why get angry?

Hearing the sound, Xia Ran immediately snapped out of her daze, picked up Gu Chen, and jogged to catch up with Gu Zheng, excitedly saying,

“Zheng, Zheng, the baby just said something again.”

"Huh? What did you say?"

Gu Zheng's expression changed, but Xia Ran paused, momentarily feeling guilty and unsure how to answer him, especially after what Bao Bao had just said...

"What exactly did they say?"

Gu Zheng could tell something was wrong just by looking at Xia Ran's expression.

"Big Daddy, you're bad..."

Just as Xia Ran was wondering how to answer, Gu Chen in his arms spoke up, and Xia Ran didn't even have time to stop him.

Gu Zheng squinted at Gu Chen, then looked at Xia Ran and asked,

"Is this how you raise children? You only teach them bad things, not good ones?"

"I didn't, I didn't teach the baby these words. I... I don't know where he learned them from, maybe from TV..."

Xia Ran immediately retorted, but Gu Zheng snorted coldly, which made Xia Ran even more nervous.

“You’re holding the child every day, who else could have said that if not you? Xia Ran, don’t forget that Gu Chen is my son, you’d better not teach him anything inappropriate.”

"Of course, how could I possibly teach the baby these words? Ah Zheng, you can believe me, I really didn't teach him."

Xia Ran held Gu Chen in one arm and tugged at Gu Zheng's clothes with the other, her eyes full of pleading.

When Xia Ran looked at him like that, Gu Zheng's eyes flickered. What he couldn't accept most was Xia Ran looking at him like that.

There will be no next time.

"Okay, don't worry, I promise I won't let the baby say anything nonsense again. Are you not angry anymore?"

Do you think you're worth me getting angry over?

With a cold snort, Gu Zheng walked straight towards the door, and Xia Ran had no choice but to follow.

Even when she got back to the car, Xia Ran was very uneasy. She kept looking at Gu Zheng, who was driving, with great caution. He really didn't seem worth Gu Zheng getting angry at, after all, before they got married, A-Zheng had said that he would not like her anymore.

The car originally had a driver, but to avoid unnecessary trouble, Gu Zheng temporarily gave the driver leave and drove himself.

Xia Ran's attempts to be careful were so obvious that Gu Zheng couldn't possibly miss them, but he didn't know what to say, so he could only go home in silence.

Gu Chen seemed to realize that his two fathers were not in a good mood, so he kept looking back and forth between them with his little eyes the whole way.

"Ah Zheng... don't be angry, okay?"

The car was parked in front of the house, and Xia Ran couldn't help but apologize first. He simply couldn't stand Gu Zheng being angry with him and ignoring him.

Upon hearing this, Gu Zheng was about to unbuckle his seatbelt when he glanced back at Xia Ran in the back seat and said,

"I told you I'm not angry, but I hope you don't forget what I just said. You'd better remember your place and don't get close to people you shouldn't be with."

"I understand, Zheng. Don't worry, I definitely won't do it."

Xia Ran nodded frantically, feeling a huge weight lifted off his shoulders. As long as A-Zheng wasn't angry with him, he would do anything.

Gu Zheng gave a soft "hmm" and got out of the car. Xia Ran gave Gu Chen in his arms a hard kiss and then got out of the car as well.

However, as soon as the two entered the house, they saw their grandfather constantly looking towards the door.

"Grandpa, why are you standing here? Your hand is injured, can't you just rest properly? Don't be so willful like a child, okay?"

“What are you worried about? Your grandfather is old, but he doesn’t have dementia yet. I’m here specifically to wait for you.”

"Wait for me here? What are you waiting for me for?"

"Of course I need to talk to you. Give Xiao Chen to A-Zheng first, then come to my room with me."

Grandpa Xia said with a smile. If it weren't for his injured hand, he probably would have reached out and pulled Xia Ran into the room.

Xia Ran was a little confused, but she still handed Gu Chen over to Gu Zheng. Of course, Gu Chen was still unwilling, and it took him a long time to coax him before he was willing to let go of Xia Ran's neck.

Gu Zheng, who had just picked up Gu Chen, looked at Xia Ran, who was helping Grandpa Xia into the room, and his expression was somewhat cold. He probably already guessed what Grandpa Xia was going to say to Xia Ran.

He carried Gu Chen in one arm and the bag of clothes in the other, preparing to return to Xia Ran's room. But after only a couple of steps, Gu Chen began to struggle to get down from his arms.

"Daddy's bad...no..."

Gu Zheng narrowed his eyes and said,

Who taught you to say those things?

He knew Xia Ran wouldn't say these things to the child; her questioning at the mall earlier was just an expression of her displeasure.

Gu Chen didn't speak, but kept twisting his body to get down from Gu Zheng's arms. Gu Zheng had no choice but to put him down.

As soon as his feet touched the ground, Gu Chen started walking forward with his short legs. He was still unsteady and wobbly, but he had already left Gu Zheng behind.

Gu Zheng was suddenly amused and annoyed. This brat had betrayed them in such a short time. But it was good, at least there was a glimmer of hope for Gu Chen's recovery.

Meanwhile, in Grandpa Xia's room, Xia Ran was also arguing with Grandpa Xia.

"Grandpa, I would never go on a blind date with Grandpa Sun's granddaughter. I already have someone I like!"

Chapter 12 Lying

Xia Ran was so angry that she blurted out her words without thinking.

"Oh? Someone you like? Then tell Grandpa who you like? What kind of girl is she?"

Why does it have to be a girl? Can't it be a boy?

"What did you say?"

Grandpa Xia's face immediately turned ugly. Xia Ran stiffened, then pretended to be nonchalant, pursed her lips, and said...

"I was just saying, Grandpa, why are you so agitated? Okay, okay, I'll tell you. Actually, I don't have anyone I like. I just don't want to go on a blind date with Grandpa Sun's granddaughter."

As he spoke, he observed his grandfather's complexion. Only after seeing that his grandfather's complexion had improved a little did Xia Ran feel relieved.

He knew that his grandfather had always been against him being with men. In fact, his grandfather would get very angry whenever his grandfather asked him if he had someone he liked and he jokingly said that he had a boy he liked.

This is why he dared not reveal that he had married Gu Zheng.

"What's so funny? Xia Ran, let me tell you, if you dare to be with a man, then you can forget about acknowledging me as your grandfather."

"Don't worry, Grandpa, I won't."

"That would be best. I've already spoken to your Grandpa Sun. You must go and meet him tonight."

"Grandpa, what's wrong with you..."

"Stop with the 'you' and 'me' talk, it's settled then. Get out of here, I'm tired and want to rest for a while."

Grandpa Xia seemed to be in a bad mood and immediately told people to leave.

Xia Ran watched, his lips twitching a few times but ultimately he didn't speak. Whenever he tried to test his grandfather by mentioning that so-and-so was with which man, his grandfather would always look upset.

Xia Ran walked to the door, opened it, and went out. However, as soon as he opened the door, he saw a large and a small figure standing there.

"you……"

“It was the child who came to find you. I couldn’t stop him, so I could only stand here with him. Don’t worry, I didn’t hear what you were saying.”

After speaking with a cold expression, Gu Zheng turned and left.

It was indeed Gu Chen who came to find Xia Ran. As for whether he pulled her or not, he definitely didn't. And as for those words... he did hear them.

Just as he expected, Xia Ran and the others who pounced on him were the same; they only wanted his money. But that was fine; it saved him from unnecessary trouble.

After all, he and Xia Ran were simply getting what they needed.

Watching Gu Zheng's indifferent departing figure, Xia Ran's brows were full of confusion. Why did he feel that A-Zheng seemed angry again?

"Daddy...hug me..."

Suddenly, his trouser leg was tugged slightly, and the childish voice instantly melted Xia Ran's heart.

"Okay, let's hug our lovely baby."

Xia Ran bent down and picked up Gu Chen, giving him a big kiss on his soft face before leaving Grandpa Xia's doorway and following Gu Zheng to find him.

He absolutely has to go to this blind date tonight, but how is he going to tell Gu Zheng? What a headache!

Grandpa Xia was sitting on the bed in the room, looking as if he had aged several years.

It's not that easy for men to get together.

"Ah Zheng, um... I have a classmate reunion tonight, so could you and Bao Bao stay home? I'll go out alone, but don't worry, I'll be back soon..."

In the courtyard, Xia Ran held Gu Chen and carefully spoke to Gu Zheng.

He hadn't considered that Gu Zheng had overheard his conversation with his grandfather, so he told a little lie.

Gu Zheng glanced at him expressionlessly, then let out a soft "hmm" from his throat.

Xia Ran's apparent naivety was indeed an act. Tonight, he would see how Xia Ran would explain herself to him, daring to go on a blind date while already married. She clearly didn't take him seriously at all.

"Really? You agreed?"

"Um."

Seeing Xia Ran's excited expression, Gu Zheng's face turned as black as could be.

With the most important things settled, Xia Ran breathed a sigh of relief. Meanwhile, while Xia Ran and Gu Chen were watching cartoons, Gu Zheng found Grandpa Xia and started playing chess.

"Sigh, I wish you were my grandson, Zheng. Ranran has no patience at all. He never wants to play chess with me."

"I'm free these few days. I can keep you company anytime Grandpa wants."

"That's good, that's good, but it's a pity you're only staying for a few days."

"Grandpa, I just heard Xia Ran say that he's going out to a party tonight, and it seems like he's going to a restaurant, is that right?"
