Luzhou Moon - Chapter 110

Chapter 110

Watching their figures recede into the distance as they fought, Wei Heng shook his head and chuckled, "This group hasn't even engaged in battle yet, and they've already lost their composure. It seems this Valley of Bliss is truly finished."

The people of Seven Star Island also found it laughable, but Lian Junchu remained frowning. Bifang noticed this and whispered, "What else is troubling you, young master?"

"There are still many things I don't understand... I always feel that the person who died in the village just now was not the real Mo Li," Lian Junchu said thoughtfully.

Upon hearing his words, Wei Heng's smile faded, and he paused, then said, "The corpse you found that day was unrecognizable; it might not even be Mo Li, could it?"

"But that person didn't even fight me head-on before fleeing the ancestral hall and was killed with a single sword strike. Even if Mo Li was injured, he probably wouldn't have done that." Lian Junchu said as she led Bi Fang and the others slowly toward the back.

Wei Heng thought for a moment, then took a few steps forward, raising his eyebrows and asking, "Did you see who killed Mo Li just now?"

"The man was wearing a black cloth covering his face and hiding behind a straw curtain. I could only vaguely see his figure, not his face," Lian Junchu replied thoughtfully.

Bi Fang, who had remained silent, suddenly seemed to remember something and said, "Young Master, we originally intended to track down the people of Bliss Valley to retrieve the Divine Pearl, but now it's turned out like this. Could it be that Mo Li was also killed because of the Divine Pearl?"

Lian Junchu frowned in thought, but did not answer immediately.

Just as Wei Heng was about to ask, he heard the sound of galloping hooves behind him. Looking in the direction of the sound, he saw a young man riding towards them. Wei Heng did not recognize the man, but the man kept looking around as soon as he saw them from a distance. Only when he got close did he seem to realize something. He then rode up to them, dismounted, and said, "Master Wei, I am from Yinxi Xiaozhu."

Wei Heng was taken aback and carefully examined the man. He did look somewhat familiar, but he did not know his name.

"Who are you?"

The young man was simply dressed and had an ordinary appearance. He didn't introduce himself, but simply said, "I've been asked to come specifically to see Master Wei, to ask you to deliver a letter to Young Master Lian of Seven Star Island..."

"Young Master Lian?" Wei Heng was slightly taken aback, then smiled and looked at Lian Junchu standing beside him with considerable surprise, saying, "Your timing is perfect."

The young man was somewhat stunned, looking at Lian Junchu, "And who is this?"

"I am Lian Junchu." He was moved, but his tone remained calm.

The young man seemed somewhat incredulous, glancing furtively at Wei Heng. Seeing Wei Heng nod in acknowledgment, he then took a letter from his robes and handed it to Lian Junchu. Bi Fang reached out to take it from him. Lian Junchu looked down at the plain white envelope, hesitated for a moment, and asked, "Who sent you?"

The young man looked embarrassed. Seeing that the other attendants were still some distance away, he lowered his head and said in a low voice, "Qian'er gave me the letter and told me not to make a fuss. I made up an excuse to leave Luzhou and inquired about Master Wei's whereabouts before I found this place."

Wei Heng smiled slightly and said, "I know, you're Qian'er's fiancé, right?" He then turned and glanced at Lian Junchu, sighed softly, and remained silent.

The young man blushed and said to the two, "Now that the letter has been delivered, I must hurry back. Farewell." After bowing, he quickly mounted his horse and galloped back the way he had come.

Seeing that the messenger had left, Bi Fang asked, "Young master, shall we open the letter?"

Lian Junchu nodded silently. Bifang took the torch from the person next to him, then cut open the wax seal on the letter, took out the letter, unfolded it, and presented it to him.

Wei Heng stood to one side, showing no intention of going forward to read the letter, but simply watching him with his hands behind his back. In the firelight, Lian Junchu lowered his eyes, looking at the letter in utter silence, without joy or sorrow, only a slight hint of confusion between his brows and the corners of his eyes.

After reading it, he remained lost in thought for a moment before quietly informing Bi Fang. Bi Fang placed the letter in his robes and stepped aside. Seeing that he had been silent since reading the letter, Wei Heng couldn't help but ask, "This letter, it seems, was written by Yue Ruzheng?"

Lian Junchu raised her head, looked at him, and slowly nodded, saying, "Do you know that the Youth-Preserving Pearl has returned to Yinxi Cottage?"

"What?!" Wei Heng was also greatly surprised.

After Lian Junchu briefly recounted the matter of the Youth-Preserving Pearl from the letter, Wei Heng exclaimed in surprise, "So it was Uncle Yu who risked everything to retrieve the pearl! No wonder Mo Li is so relentless in his pursuit!"

Lian Junchu remained silent on the matter, but her eyes held a deep and inexplicable sorrow.

At that moment, torches flickered in the distance, and Chongming and Danfeng arrived in their carriage. The curtain was lifted, and Lian Junxin leaned out, leaning against the carriage wall, and said, "What are you two dawdling about here for?"

Wei Heng glanced at her sideways and said, "You were so weak just now, but you're all energetic again in no time?"

Lian Junxin glanced at him arrogantly and said, "Wei Heng, you followed me here, surely to inquire about Hai Qiongzi's whereabouts so you can seek medical treatment for Yue Ruzheng?"

Wei Heng, somewhat embarrassed, gave a cold laugh. "Are you the only one in the world who knows his whereabouts?"

Lian Junxin leaned back in the carriage, then deliberately glanced at Lian Junchu, who was silent to the side, and said, "On my way from Seven Star Island to Luzhou, I actually encountered a disciple of Shenxiao Palace. That person was looking for their master, Hai Qiongzi. If you don't believe me, you can head to Lingnan, but it's a long way, and even if they're willing to come with you, who knows when they'll be able to return to Luzhou!"

Wei Heng stared at her angrily and said, "Lian Junxin, what exactly do you mean?"

"I was just reminding you..." Lian Jun began, but was interrupted by Lian Junchu, who said, "Tell him about Hai Qiongzi's whereabouts."

Lian Junxin was taken aback, then retorted, "You're actually taking his side? That's truly disappointing!"

Lian Junchu was about to leave when she heard this, so she stopped and said, "Disappointed? What kind of reaction do you expect from me?"

Lian Junxin couldn't stand his cold demeanor and snorted, "Just as I expected, you've been a good-for-nothing since you were a child."

Lian Junchu's face was somewhat pale, and she stared at Lian Junxin without moving.

Wei Heng frowned slightly and said, "Young Master Lian, you don't need to hold a grudge. Tingyu Manor and Yinxi Xiaozhu are old friends; I was merely doing my part as a friend."

"I didn't mean anything by it," Lian Junchu finally spoke, her tone calm but weary.

Wei Heng smiled slightly, "That's for the best." He glanced at Lian Junxin again and said, "Lian Junxin, I won't beg you if you don't want to tell me. Just keep this secret to yourself. Anyway, I'll find Hai Qiongzi sooner or later."

Having said that, he ignored Lian Junxin's anger and strode forward.

Lian Junxin was dumbfounded. Seeing Wei Heng gather the horses in the distance, as if preparing to leave, she couldn't help but snap at Lian Junchu, "You're just going to watch this kid go and serve Yue Ruzheng?! Don't you have any temper at all?"

Lian Junchu pretended not to hear and turned to leave, when she suddenly shouted, "Lian Junchu, are you even a man?!"

He suddenly stopped, turned his head slightly, and asked, "What do you think defines a man?"

"We absolutely cannot let him get his way!" Her eyes gleamed fiercely as she slammed the carriage curtain shut. "I just don't want to see him looking so smug. As for you... you're on your own!"

Wei Heng was about to inquire about Qi Yun's injuries when he heard footsteps behind him. Turning around, he saw Lian Junchu walking towards him.

He paused slightly, gripping the reins, and watched Lian Junchu slowly approach with a probing gaze. When he stopped a short distance away, Wei Heng raised an eyebrow, smiled, and said, "Young Master Lian, are you still worried?"

Lian Junchu looked at his perpetually spirited eyes and said, "From Seven Star Island to Luzhou, there aren't many places along the way suitable for quiet cultivation."
