Why does it sound like you're about to tear the house apart when you're drunk?
Chai Qianning coughed a few times, picked up a steamed bun from the plate, and took a bite in annoyance. Chewing, she asked again, "Why am I wearing a bathrobe?"
“You’ve taken a shower,” Sheng Muxi said.
"I took a shower?"
Based on the other person's description, she seemed quite unruly after getting drunk. Is she still able to take a shower by herself?
She asked softly, "Did I wash it myself?"
Sheng Muxi gave her a meaningful look, his throat bobbing as if it were very difficult for him to utter a single "hmm".
Huh? She was so drunk her memory was all over the place, yet she was still able to take a bath by herself! So, most of her injuries must have been from falls in the bathroom, right?
But just as she was thinking this, Sheng Muxi added, "I helped you a little."
The steamed bun fell from her hand. Chai Qianning wiped her mouth, picked it up from the plate, and held it in her hand, using eating to hide her unnatural expression.
Sheng Muxi silently picked up the milk and took a sip.
After a few seconds of silence, Chai Qianning braced herself and asked, "How did you help me?"
"I just dried you off and wrapped you in a bathrobe," Sheng Muxi said calmly.
Chai Qianning, however, was not at peace.
If that's the case, doesn't that mean the other party saw everything?
Chai Qianning lowered her head, a few strands of hair slipping onto her cheek. She didn't try to pull them back, quietly munching on her steamed bun, choking and coughing several times.
Seeing this, Sheng Muxi came over, patted her on the back, and pushed another glass of milk in front of her: "Drink some milk."
After breakfast, Sheng Muxi tidied up the table briefly, and Chai Qianning went to her room to change back into her own clothes.
She sat upright on the sofa, watching Sheng Muxi walk around putting things away. She cleared her throat and said, "Um, Ms. Sheng, what else happened after I got drunk last night? Just tell me frankly, don't worry that I can't accept it."
Sheng Muxi sat down on the sofa on the other side, counting on her fingers as she recounted her "crimes" from the previous night.
"You told me the names of your friends."
".."
That alone was enough to make Chai Qianning clench her fingers around the fabric of her trousers at the knees.
"Hmm, anything else?" Chai Qianning said indifferently.
When others wake up from a hangover, they're afraid of being remembered for their embarrassing drunken antics. But Chai Qianning is different; she's determined to find out exactly how many stupid things she did while drunk.
Sheng Muxi rested her chin on her palm, seemingly trying very hard to recall what she had done last night.
"You insist that you are not drunk and refuse to drink the hangover soup."
"They said the hair tie in my hair and the necklace around my neck were mosquitoes."
"It followed me the whole time, neither sitting nor lying down."
"He insisted on taking a bath and almost ate the foam, mistaking it for cotton candy."
"They treated my house like a forest, saying they wanted to go on an adventure."
Chai Qianning pressed her palms to her cheeks, wishing she could cover her face completely.
Exploring? Why doesn't she just smash herself with a block of tofu?
"And..." Sheng Muxi paused, took a sip of water, held it in her mouth, and slowly swallowed it, looking a little hesitant.
Chai Qianning's expression was exceptionally complicated. Her lips moved slightly, and she said with difficulty, "Is it difficult to say?"
Sheng Muxi nodded: "Are you sure you want to listen?"
“Even if you’re mentally challenged, you did it yourself, so why don’t you listen?” Chai Qianning stretched out her arms and rested them on the back of the sofa, feigning nonchalance.
Sheng Muxi closed her eyes and said in one breath, "You insisted that I look at the birthmark on your body."
Chai Qianning froze, every cell in her body tensing. The birthmark on her body... she only had one birthmark, located near the junction of her abdomen and thigh.
Cough cough.
Chai Qianning bit her lip: "Did you watch it?"
Now it was Sheng Muxi's turn to be stunned.
It was in the bathroom at the time.
She was half-squatting beside the bathtub, still in a daze after kissing Chai Qianning, when the other woman suddenly stood up from the bathtub and told her about a birthmark on her body.
That scene really came so suddenly, I still blush when I think about it now.
"Hmm, quite unique." Sheng Muxi suppressed the emotions rising in her heart and answered calmly.
Chai Qianning's ears burned, and she felt extremely uncomfortable. She stood up, holding onto the sofa armrest, and said, "Um, maybe I should go downstairs first."
She wanted to escape as soon as possible.
"Wait a minute," Sheng Muxi called out to her, "Do you need some medicine for the bruises on your body?"
"No need, no need."
More than the pain from the bumps and bruises, she wanted to find a hole in the ground to hide in for a while.
"It would be better to apply some medicine." Sheng Muxi handed the medicine to Chai Qianning, who was already standing in the entryway: "Keep applying it for a few days to prevent any marks from being left on your skin."
Chai Qianning took it and nodded: "I'm going down."
Her hand rested on the doorknob, but before she could turn it, Chai Qianning suddenly stopped and turned to look at Sheng Muxi: "I didn't say anything... strange when I was drunk, did I?"
"No... I don't think so," Sheng Muxi said.
Chai Qianning said "oh" and quickly left with the medicine.
Watching the other person's figure disappear around the corner of the corridor, Sheng Muxi closed the door, lowered her gaze, looked at the dark green carpet, and her tightly pursed lips moved slightly.
Actually, there are some things I haven't told Chai Qianning.
For example, last night, they kissed for a very long time in the bathroom, until their lips were numb.
For example, Chai Qianning actually said a lot last night.
She asked, "Are you getting married?"
Have you been deliberately being cold to me lately?
"Are you deliberately keeping your distance from me?"
Why have you been spending so much time with that guy lately?
She spoke with great grievance, her eyes glistening with tears.
"Do you know how much I like you?"
"Do you know how sad I've been these past few days since you've ignored me?"
Sheng Muxi then realized that her mother was jealous, that she was upset because of her, and that she had been drinking because of her. She had gotten so drunk last night because of her.
The pitch-black night was filled with an air of ambiguity. She heard Chai Qianning lean on her shoulder and whisper in her ear, "I'm serious about you."
It was her who misunderstood Chai Qianning.
.
After running up to the 10th floor, Chai Qianning stood still at her door for a while, then slapped her forehead—she had left her bag at Sheng Muxi's house.
She wouldn't have gone back up if her keys hadn't been in her bag. But she had to get home eventually, so a few seconds later, she turned and walked towards the elevator.
Just as she reached the elevator, the doors of the elevator next door opened. Chai Qianning paused, her hand raised to press the button, and when she saw Sheng Muxi come out, she withdrew her finger.
"Your bag." Sheng Muxi handed it to her.
"Oh, oh." Chai Qianning took it: "I forgot."
Chai Qianning held the bag in her arms, her fingers stroking the leather surface: "Then, shall I go back?"
"Okay, get some rest. Remember to apply the medicine."
"Yes, yes." Chai Qianning nodded hurriedly, preparing to turn around and go back, but Sheng Muxi called her back again.
Chai Qianning turned her head, her eyelashes trembling slightly.
"Don't drink so much in the future." Sheng Muxi's eyes swept over her face: "It's dangerous."
Chai Qianning subconsciously squeezed the handbag in her arms so tightly that it sank in a little, struggling to steady her breathing: "I'll be more careful in the future."
"Is there anything else?" Chai Qianning asked when she saw that she hadn't left.
“That’s all.” Sheng Muxi’s eyes shifted, and she turned to press the elevator button.
Remembering something, Chai Qianning turned around and said, "Thank you for bringing me back."
We should still maintain proper manners.
Sheng Muxi also turned his head.
Thinking about how Chai Qianning was so serious while drunk last night, and how flustered she is today but still trying to appear calm, I actually find it quite amusing.
If you tell her what she said last night, Chai Qianning would probably faint from embarrassment on the spot.
Forget it, I still can't bear to let the other party die.
She suppressed the slight curve of her lips, but when her eyebrows arched, they still curled up: "Yes, you're welcome."
She pressed the icon, and the elevator doors opened. She paused for a moment before stepping inside.
Chai Qianning watched the elevator doors close, the red numbers on the panel rising until they finally stopped at the 11th floor. She looked away and started walking in one direction.
The sunlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows at the end of the corridor and the railings create a unique scene. The railings give the sunlight its shape, and on the clean, reflective ceramic tiles, mirrored images of the same shape are reflected.
Chai Qianning raised her eyes and walked slowly down the corridor, gazing at the distant blue sky through the gaps in the green leaves.
She wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but she felt that Sheng Muxi's gaze just now carried a certain unspoken emotion.
Chai Qianning closed her eyes, exhaled, lowered her gaze, and rummaged through her bag to find the keys to open the door.
Back home, Chai Qianning carefully applied medicine to the bruises on her body. Except for her legs and arms, the rest of her body was basically fine.
But she found that her lip was actually a little sore. She wondered if it was because she had fallen and hit her chin last night, which had injured her lip as well.
She touched the corner of her mouth, Sheng Muxi's words echoing in her mind: "You insisted on showing me the birthmark on your body."
