Chapitre 9

His handsome eyes brightened, revealing an indescribable brilliance.

That night, he clearly saw that although the Ten Beauties of Emei were not highly ranked in the martial arts world, their formation was the Azure Water Formation, which even Ah Kuang found troublesome. Even with his interference, she easily dismantled it in just ten moves, and she was wielding her sword in her right hand.

After all these years of stirring up trouble in the martial arts world, this was the first time he had encountered someone he couldn't understand at first glance, someone he wanted to look at again and again.

Yu Zigui, Yu Zigui.

He silently recited it in his heart, his handsome eyes sparkling with a faint smile.

Three days had passed; they had been trapped at the bottom of the mountain for three days. Except for the first night when he fainted from excruciating pain, he had woken up earlier than her each day, and he was always smiling. This smile was different from before; it was very restrained, held back as if afraid of disturbing something. It gave her goosebumps, and she was plagued by nightmares every night. Poor her, she had to carry this "giant Buddha" on her back during the day, and her already plump face became even thinner.

What a prodigy!

"Zigui, what are you sighing about?" he said, leaning closer, his breath so close to hers that it made her jump.

Demon, retreat at once!

"Zigui?"

Following his puzzled gaze, she realized that her actions had outpaced her thoughts. With the hand seals "Lin Bing Dou Zhe Jie Zhen Lie Zai Qian" (meaning "All ranks are arrayed before you"), she instinctively formed the demon-slaying hand seals.

"Hehe, hehe." Untying her hands, she gave a perfunctory smile. "I haven't practiced for several days. I'm afraid my master will check my studies when I get back."

"So, the Heavenly Dragon Sect was originally a Taoist temple, how did Headmaster Wang end up taking you as his female disciple?"

"My master thought I was a boy."

Upon hearing this, he glanced at her less-than-flattering area with a half-smile.

Who said he was like a god or Buddha? Are all the people in the martial arts world blind?

Suppressing her anger, she gritted her teeth and said, "I was only eight years old back then."

He slowly withdrew his gaze: "I see."

"Back then, I was just a disheveled little beggar; how could anyone tell if someone was male or female?"

"Little beggar? What about your parents?"

For a fleeting moment, Shangguan Yi saw her dark eyes tremble, as if filled with unspeakable sorrow. But she only blinked once before perfectly concealing her emotions.

"They've left." She smiled nonchalantly, as if it were none of her business.

He didn't speak, he just looked at her.

She glanced at him and winked. "What are you thinking? My parents are still alive." She laughed even more heartily, revealing her dimples that she had kept hidden for so long. "They're still alive, they just don't want me anymore."

The afternoon sun quietly shone on her face, so bright that not a single shadow could be seen, yet it also carried a desolate, scorching light.

Shangguan Yi gazed at her silently, his eyes seeming to see into her very soul. Almost simultaneously, she looked away.

"What kind of experiences has Ziyu had?"

"Me?" he pondered for a long time, "In short."

She opened her eyes wide, seemingly looking forward to it.

"Nothing remarkable to report."

Her face suddenly darkened.

"When were you happiest and saddest in the past twenty-three years? I just thought about it very seriously, but I can't recall a single day or a single person. Would you say that's unremarkable?"

He lowered his eyes slowly and looked at her softly, saying, "I've been waiting for someone—someone who will make me not forget so quickly."

That expectant look made her heart pound.

A faint sound could be heard.

She looked away and gazed into the distance, where she saw colorful glimpses among the lush trees.

A horse-drawn carriage, it is a horse-drawn carriage.

"Help!" she cried out immediately, half-carrying Shangguan Yi as she ran forward, "Help!"

It turns out they were so close to the official road.

Yu Zigui looked at the owner of the carriages. This foreign merchant was tall and strong, over forty years old, and was talking to Shangguan Yi in Persian.

After a while, Shangguan Yi placed her right hand on her heart and bowed to the merchant, then lowered her head and said to her, "Ms. Man, on your way to Linhai, could you please take us to Jiangdu?"

"Okay, then your leg."

"Once we get to the city, help me with the medical treatment."

"That's good." She nodded.

"Is Zigui concerned about me?" The voice was tinged with amusement.

Her lips twitched, and just as she was about to speak, she saw a little girl run down from the carriage.

"Father, Father!" The little girl giggled and rushed towards the merchant. "Mother is going to punish me, Father, save me!"

"You speak Mandarin so well," she praised.

“Madam Man is from the Central Plains,” Shangguan Yi explained.

Just then, the curtain was lifted: "Agui, you're being naughty again."
