I just finished reading the last chapter, Li Jing Li Jing 1. The three men the female protagonist encounters are all men of great ambition. Sima Xingyun, he has the world and a thirst for power, so for him, his love for the female protagonist is flexible and incomplete, just like Li Ge. Li Ge is a doctor, putting the patient first. While this doesn't mean he would abandon anyone, his love is also restrained.
