Une relation tragique - Chapitre 37
Before he could finish speaking, the two of them scoffed at Lin Feng, saying, "Tch~~~ You're not that kind-hearted!"
Qiqi smiled and said, "It's good that you're all alright. If you find anything, just call your teacher Lin. We'll go and look around the school!"
After saying goodbye to the others, the two wandered aimlessly around the school. Because of the many cases that had occurred in the past two days, there were very few people around, especially since it was afternoon.
Qiqi asked Lin Feng, "Did you sense anything?"
Lin Feng shook his head blankly and said, "No!"
Qiqi said, "I can feel it. There is spiritual energy spreading around, but it is fading away. It should disappear completely tonight. It should be caused by this spiritual energy."
Lin Feng looked around and said, "Why didn't I feel anything?"
Qiqi smiled and said, "It was left behind by Liu Hong. I only knew about it because of my demonic senses. Of course you wouldn't know!"
Lin Feng nodded and said, "Oh, I see!"
Qiqi called Li Mingsheng to tell him what she had discovered and that there would be no more such incidents after tonight.
Lin Feng suddenly felt a chill penetrate his bones, and he couldn't help but shiver. The feeling was like being pricked in the finger by an awl—a sudden chill, and then the sensation disappeared.
He looked around in confusion and said, "I think there was something just now?"
Qiqi had already hung up the phone and asked curiously, "What was it?"
Lin Feng shook his head and said, "It's hard to say. That feeling was just a fleeting one, and it's hard to grasp."
Qiqi said, "It must be a passing ghost!"
Lin Feng shook his head and said, "Although it's daytime, we should still be able to see the passing ghosts, and very few ghosts are active during the day!"
Kiki thought about it and said, "Could it be that your feeling is wrong?"
Lin Feng shook his head blankly. Suddenly, a shadow, barely visible to the naked eye, flashed past them. Lin Feng cried out and clutched his arm.
When Qiqi looked, she saw that Lin Feng's arm had several deep wounds from something scratching it. What surprised Qiqi even more was that she couldn't even see what the thing was; she could only vaguely make out what seemed to be a human-shaped object that flashed by.
Lin Feng clutched his wound, writhing in pain, and warily surveyed his surroundings. But the thing seemed to have vanished without a trace, never to reappear.
Qiqi felt the spiritual energy around her getting weaker and weaker, and said to Lin Feng, "I know why the spiritual energy disappeared so quickly within two days!"
Lin Feng endured the pain and asked, "Why?"
Qiqi said, "Something is absorbing spiritual energy!"
Lin Feng frowned and said, "Damn it, how come I don't feel anything is wrong!"
Qiqi said, "Let's not talk about this now, go and bandage your wound first!"
Lin Feng nodded, removed his hand, and examined the wound.
The two exclaimed in surprise. The four wounds on Lin Feng's arm had exposed muscles, and the surrounding area had turned purplish-red. The blood flowing out was also gradually darkening in color.
The two exclaimed simultaneously, "Zombies!"
Since it's a wound inflicted by a zombie, it can't just be a simple bandage and be done with it.
Lin Feng and Qi Qi hurriedly ran to the main road and flagged down a car to head home. Fortunately, Xiao Jie Jie's house wasn't far away. By the time they arrived home, the wound had turned a deep black, and the blood was the color of ink. The area around the wound was swollen, and Lin Feng pressed it several times but couldn't feel anything.
Qiqi quickly went to the kitchen to find some glutinous rice, grabbed a handful of it, and pressed it onto Lin Feng's wound.
Lin Feng groaned in pain, wisps of blue smoke rising from his wound. The burning pain from pressing the glutinous rice against the wound finally returned, and he could feel it again. Lin Feng was relieved; this meant his arm was saved.
As soon as Qiqi let go, the glutinous rice on the wound fell to the ground and turned black. She grabbed another handful of glutinous rice and pressed it onto Lin Feng's wound, repeating this several times until the poison was finally drawn out. The area around the wound returned to its normal pinkish-red color, and the blood also returned to its normal color.
Lin Feng breathed a sigh of relief and said, "This thing is really troublesome!"
Kiki, who had never dealt with zombies before, said, "What's so difficult about it? Are they any more powerful than the three I created back then?"
Lin Feng nodded and said, "Of course, the three you created back then were just zombies at best. They had no thoughts, only the instinct to eat. Judging from my wounds, this zombie is already quite powerful; the corpse poison is acting up too quickly. Moreover, a true zombie has thoughts and looks no different from an ordinary one. Where are we going to find him?"
Kiki asked, "Then why did he attack you?"
Lin Feng said, "He probably sensed that I was in danger!"
Qiqi nodded and said, "Shall we go take a look again tonight?"
Lin Feng nodded and said, "Of course, zombies come out at night to absorb yin energy and replenish the spiritual energy they used up during the day. We can only find them at night!"

Darkness had fallen, and a light mist hung in the air, shrouding everything beneath it, making the distant lights appear hazy and indistinct.
Walking along the path near the medical school, Qiqi and Lin Feng felt as if they were in a dreamlike world. The streets were deserted, with only the two of them walking. After dark, no one dared to come near the medical school; everyone was too frightened by the frequent crimes that had occurred in the past few days.
The two appeared to be casually strolling around, but they were actually intently observing their surroundings.
As I approached a grove of trees, a rustling sound suddenly came from within. Something had startled the birds in the woods, causing them to take flight.
Both of them were simultaneously drawn to it, and felt a chill spreading through the air around them.
Lin Feng whispered to Qi Qi, "He's noticed us, be careful!"
Kiki whispered, "Yeah, this guy is too cunning!"
The two turned and walked into the forest path, the surrounding trees appearing like ghostly shadows. The branches, burdened by the heavy snow, creaked and groaned. Lin Feng secretly observed his surroundings; the zombie could appear at any moment. At his speed, taking Qi Qi's life would be a little difficult, but taking his own life would certainly not take much effort.
As they walked deeper into the tree-lined path, a slight rustling sound suddenly came from the nearby woods. Qiqi nudged Lin Feng, who understood.
A sharp gust of wind whistled through the air, and a figure swept across the silvery snow-covered forest like a gust of wind.
Lin Feng, prepared in advance, took out some glutinous rice he had prepared beforehand and threw it at the dark figure. Caught off guard, the figure staggered from the impact of the rice. As it stood up, its stance seemed unsteady. In a hoarse voice, it said, "Who are you people? Why are you always targeting me? Although I am a zombie, I have never harmed anyone!"
Lin Feng spat and said, "Didn't hurt anyone? Then why did you grab me this afternoon?"
The man slowly walked a short distance in front of the two and said, "I didn't mean to hurt you. I saw that you were both experts and thought you were after me, so I grabbed you. But if I wanted to, taking your life back then would have been easy, but I didn't!"
Lin Feng looked at the zombie with suspicion and asked, "Really?" He didn't rule out the possibility that some of these dark creatures were good, like Qi Qi. Although she had gone mad and was out of control, she had integrated into this world with their help. Although she had hurt many people, she had helped even more. Without her, Lin Feng wouldn't have been able to deal with Zhang Xiang, defeat the Mirage Dragon, or handle the rampaging Ghost King. It could be said that recruiting Qi Qi into the Special Investigation Department was Lin Feng's most successful achievement!
The zombie said, "Really, I did want to kill you, but as I passed by you, I sensed that she—"—pointed at Kiki and said, "is not human either, and is far more dangerous than me. Imagine someone who can coexist peacefully with her; she certainly isn't here to cause me trouble, so I temporarily spared you."
Although Lin Feng breathed a sigh of relief, he still asked warily, "Was what you just said true?"
The zombie sighed and said, "Of course it's true! Although I'm a zombie, I just want to live a peaceful life and don't want to disturb the human world. If I hadn't absorbed the powerful spiritual energy around here, who knows how many people would have suffered. But how many humans know I have no ill intentions? When they see me, they either shout to kill me or are scared half to death. Do you think I feel good about it?"
Qiqi sighed with deep feeling. If she hadn't met friends like Lin Feng and Xiao Jie Jie, and Li Mingsheng who loved her no matter what she was, she probably would have ended up like this zombie.
Qiqi asked, "What's your name?"
The zombie hesitated for a moment and said, "Just call me 'Sharp Mouth'!"
"You're 'sharp-tongued'?" Lin Feng asked in surprise.
"Yeah, what's wrong?" the zombie asked Lin Feng, looking at him strangely.
"Is Xiaoxue your girlfriend?"
Before the zombie could utter a sound, a sob suddenly came from beside Lin Feng. A voice said, "'Sharp Mouth,' is that really you? How did you become like this?"
A sharp voice cried out, "Xiaoxue, Xiaoxue, what are you doing here? Aren't you dead?"
Xiaoxue sobbed and threw herself into Li Zijian's arms, bursting into tears. Lin Feng wanted to stop her, but it was too late.
Looking at this couple, a pair so extraordinary that it would be hard to find another like them throughout history, Qiqi couldn't help but sigh in admiration. Compared to them, they were far more fortunate. They had trustworthy friends Lin Feng and Qiqi, and Li Mingsheng, who was determined to love them. What could be more blissful than that?
Qiqi stepped forward, patted Xiaoxue on the shoulder, and said, "Xiaoxue, don't be sad. And how did your boyfriend turn into a zombie? Tell me!"
Xiaoxue stopped crying and asked Zuijian, "Yes, how did you become a zombie?"
She sighed, sat down on a bench by the tree-lined path, ran her hands through her hair, and said, "I don't know, I really don't know!"
Xiaoxue hugged him and said, "Don't be sad, let's never be apart again, okay? I'll always be with you!"
He let out a long sigh and said, "After you died, I felt terrible. I couldn't eat or sleep, and all I did was drink, drink."
Xiaoxue burst into tears again, saying, "'Sharp-tongued,' 'Sharp-tongued,' am I worth this? Why torture yourself like this? Why bother?"
Zuijian held Xiaoxue's hand and continued, "Later, I found that I had less and less appetite, and I could go for days without sleep without any problem. Finally, I noticed that my fingers were very itchy, and within a few days, nails grew out. Everything I scratched would break easily, and my strength became frighteningly great, and my speed astonishing. In the end, my fangs also grew out. I finally realized that I was a zombie, no longer a human! I silently left my friends, my teachers, and my family, and hid away alone. Later, I finally learned to control myself, to make my fingernails extend and retract freely, and to make my fangs return to normal. But I still didn't dare to go to my friends and family; I could only watch them from afar!"
Xiaoxue broke down in tears, heartbroken, while Qiqi sat beside them, tears welling in her eyes, trying to comfort them. Lin Feng sighed with regret, thinking what a pair of lovesick fools!
Xiaoxue wiped away her tears and said to Qiqi, "Sister Qiqi, can I stay with him forever? I won't reincarnate. He's so lonely in this world all by himself!"
Lin Feng was shocked and said, "How can that be? If you keep wandering the world, one day your soul will be scattered. No, no, don't let my kung fu go to waste!"
Xiaoxue said with tears in her eyes, "But, but he's so lonely all by himself!"
With tears streaming down her face, she said, "No, Xiaoxue, you must be reincarnated. I don't want you to leave no trace in this world; that would cause me so much pain!"
Xiaoxue covered her mouth and said, "But I can't bear to part with you. I can't bear to see you wandering alone, heartbroken, with no one to keep you company."
Lin Feng said to Xiaoxue with a serious expression, "Xiaoxue, you can stay with him until your ascension next year. When the time comes, I will forcibly help you pass on to the afterlife, regardless of whether you agree or not!"
The sharp-tongued creature said, "Xiaoxue, will you listen to me? We still have more than half a year to be together. I originally thought I would never see you again, but I didn't expect that I would be able to see you again. Heaven has been kind to me. If you refuse to be reincarnated, I will disappear immediately and never see you again!"
Xiaoxue nodded in agreement with tears in her eyes.
Lin Feng pondered for a moment and said to Zui Jian, "I can arrange for you to do a more normal job, like ours. Are you willing?"
Li Jian stood up and bowed deeply to Lin Feng, saying, "Thank you, but I want to stay with Xiaoxue until she is reincarnated!"
Lin Feng nodded and said, "Alright, we'll wait for you to join us!"
Volume 3, Ghostly Tales, Chapter 21: Supernatural Bewilderment (4)
Watching Xiaoxue disappear into the woods on Zuijian's shoulder, Lin Feng sighed and said, "Sometimes ghosts are cuter than people."
Kiki wiped away her tears and said, "Maybe. You think they'll go there?"
Lin Feng shrugged and said, "How would I know? But wherever they go, all we can do is wish them well during this time!"
Qiqi nodded and said, "Let's go back, or Xiaojie will hold me responsible!"
Lin Feng wrapped his clothes tighter around himself and said with a wry smile, "Women are more ferocious than ghosts!"
Qiqi laughed and said, "I'll tell Xiaojie tomorrow!"
Lin Feng quickly said, "No, no, can't I just call you sister?" He pleaded pitifully.
Qiqi seized the opportunity to make a condition, saying, "That works too, but how about an extra fried chicken leg, a beef burger, and a bottle of Coke?"
Lin Feng chuckled and said, "How about I add 200cc of type O blood for you?"
Qiqi spat and said, "Are you looking for death?"
Lin Feng shrank back and said, "How dare I, how dare I!"
Mentioning Xue Qiqi, she suddenly asked, "By the way, that 'pointed-mouth' is a zombie, but why doesn't he have any demonic nature? He doesn't seem to be bloodthirsty or fond of indiscriminate killing?"
