Urban Super Thor - Kapitel 138
Thinking of this, Xiao Dao snorted again. Everyone else was in pairs, even her big tabby cat had found a black cat as its mate, and she was the only one wandering around alone.
As I turned to step off the bridge, I had just taken a step when I heard someone behind me speak in a roguish tone, "Hey beautiful lady in the floral dress with the red umbrella, stop right there!"
Xiao Dao paused slightly, unconsciously stopping in her tracks. Her ears were ringing, her heart was pounding, but she subconsciously curled the corners of her mouth into a smile. Without turning around, she stood on the bridge, holding her umbrella, listening to the pattering rain on its surface. Just moments before, she had felt irritated, but now the sound was pleasant and melodious.
"I need to ask for directions." The man darted across the bridge in a few steps, stood behind Xiao Dao, and brought with him a faint, familiar scent.
Xiao Dao muttered under his breath, "Where are we going?"
"Find the home of Hao Jiulong, the Golden Knife Detective."
"Are you going to a wedding?" Xiao Dao asked. "Did you bring a gift?"
"I brought it, but it's not a wedding gift, it's a betrothal gift. It's not for attending a wedding banquet, it's for proposing marriage." The man smiled and poked the bright red umbrella. "Xue Beifan from Beihai wants to marry his daughter, Yan Xiaodao."
Xiao Dao gently reached out, her delicate palm facing upwards, "How much is the betrothal gift?"
Laughter came from behind, and a hand grabbed Xiao Dao's hand. Xiao Dao tried to pull it out but couldn't. He turned around and saw the person standing in the drizzle, smiling. He was still dressed in his usual unkempt black clothes, and his hair wasn't styled much, but he looked energetic and quite handsome... It was none other than Xue Beifan, whom he hadn't seen for a year.
"Wow!" Xue Beifan exclaimed in surprise, "Whose daughter is this? She's so beautiful!"
Xiao Dao raised his foot and kicked him backward.
Xue Beifan dodged aside and stood in front of her. "I'm in a hurry to propose marriage, so lead the way for me."
Xiao Dao pouted, "Who wants to marry you?"
"I have someone else's heart~ You carve the word 'heart' on it, then the heart is mine!" Xue Beifan dangled the six-ounce heart pendant hanging around his neck. "I'm here to take her away!"
Xiao Dao reached out to grab the pendant.
"Oh!" Xue Beifan quickly covered his clothes, "Mine."
Xiao Dao pouted, "Mine is right!"
"You want her?" Xue Beifan grinned. "Be my bride, and I'll give you my whole body!"
Xiao Dao's still a scoundrel after all this time.
Xue Beifan turned around, ran down one step, bent down and asked him, "Want me to carry you?"
Xiao Dao thought for a moment, then jumped onto his back. Xue Beifan gently lifted him up, carried Xiao Dao on his back, and quickly rushed downstairs.
"Ouch!" Little Knife exclaimed, jolted by the bumpy ride. He patted him on the shoulder. "What's your hurry?"
Xue Beifan turned to look at him, "Is today an unlucky time? We just happened to be there, how about we have the wedding ceremony and enter the bridal chamber... Sigh!"
Before he could finish speaking, Xiao Dao pinched his earlobe hard.
Laughter and chatter filled the quiet streets in the light rain, and the red umbrellas added a touch of life to the clean and white houses.
Xue Beifan jogged out of the long street and saw a great commotion of gongs and drums not far ahead. It seemed that the procession to pick up the bride had arrived, just in time.
Xiao Dao held up the red umbrella, which illuminated the two people beneath it, making them look joyful. Xue Beifan looked up at the umbrella, "It really is quite effective, isn't it?"
"What's so effective about it?" Xiao Dao asked, puzzled.
“A red umbrella!” Xue Beifan smiled. “They say that if you spin around a few times under this red umbrella, your destiny will be tied to your love.”
Xiao Dao pinched his ears on both sides, "Are you telling a story?"
Xue Beifan laughed heartily, "That's right."
"About what?"
"I'm all alone now, how about I marry into your Yan family?"
Xiao Dao was so angry she laughed, and pulled his ears, saying, "Don't talk nonsense again!"
"And another thing," Xue Beifan said, tilting his head back with his ear pulled, looking regretful, "it seems I can't escape getting hurt in the martial world anymore."
Xiao Dao asked, puzzled, "Why? Your kung fu is top-notch now, and you're so cunning, who could possibly lie to you?"
"None of this works." Xue Beifan held up a small knife. "My wife's name is Little Knife, and I get stabbed every day, don't I?!"
"Then why don't you just not get married?" Xiao Dao said softly.
"Alright..."
"What did you say!" Xiao Dao pinched his ear.
"It hurts!" Xue Beifan pleaded, "Wife, let go!"
Xiao Dao's lips slowly curled up, and he muttered, "Who's your wife?"
Xue Beifan shouted loudly, "Yan Xiaodao!"
"who?"
Xue Beifan shouted so loudly that the entire wedding procession and almost everyone on the street could hear him, "I've come to marry Yan Xiaodao!"
Xiao Dao, blushing, leaned on his shoulder, watching Hao Jinfeng leading the bride out of the sedan chair, and Chonghua supporting Xiao Yue and carrying a large basket of candied hawthorns. Everyone was watching the two of them running towards them, smiling happily. Xiao Dao looked up at her red umbrella, then at Xue Beifan, who was smiling up at her... It really was quite accurate!
