Ghosts in Medical School Horror Files - Chapter 39
"I know you entered the girl next door's dream and saw many real scenes. I was injected with a psychoactive drug. My heterochromia and miasma techniques both fall under the category of psychoactive attacks. Every time I use my psychoactive power, this drug pushes me to the brink of mental collapse. To put it simply, it turns me into a madman. There is no antidote for this drug. To prevent myself from going insane, I created Su Youqing and entered a deep sleep, only waking up under appropriate conditions. You could say that Su Youqing is me, and I am Su Youqing. I created Su Youqing based on myself before 'that night.' Because my psychoactive power is too strong, Su Youqing can also use some psychoactive power without realizing it, such as low-level things like hypnosis, but she herself is unaware of it."
Xia Chen then asked, "I believe you are Tian Zi, but almost a century has passed, how come you don't look any older? You also said that you only wake up under specific conditions, so why did you wake up?"
"The reason I woke up this time is ridiculous. After Su Youqing's husband died, she developed an alcoholism. Every time she was numbed by alcohol, I would wake up from my deep sleep. I really don't know how to answer your question about my appearance, because I don't know the answer either. I think it's a side effect of my Thousand-Ring Eye being activated, or it may be related to my slumber. So many years have passed, but for me, I've only aged ten years. This is a good thing. As long as I'm alive, I can't let that bitch's plan succeed."
Su Youqing's words hit the nail on the head. Xia Chen asked, "We really want to know the details of the Nuwa Plan. Can you tell us?" Luo Shimin looked at Su Youqing with eager eyes. She really wanted to know about the Nuwa Plan.
“No.” Su Youqing resolutely rejected Xia Chen’s suggestion. “The more you know, the more dangerous it is. You are all good children, and I don’t want anything to happen to you.”
"Why did you kill people?" Li Xiao suddenly asked. "You killed many people, why? You're a ruthless female demon."
Su Youqing stared at Li Xiao for a while and said, "I killed people who deserved to die. They all had reasons to die. In order for more people to live well, they had to die. If they didn't die, Nuwa's plan would be completed ahead of schedule, which would definitely become a disaster."
Luo Shimin was not afraid of her at all and questioned, "Then what did my roommate Zheng Yubing and Officer Ye do? Do they also have to die? As far as I know, they have not done anything wrong."
"Don't worry, I won't let them die," Su Youqing explained. "When the police officer saw me holding the Crow Nine Broken Sword in the old building, I knocked him unconscious. I didn't do anything to him, and I didn't cast the miasma spell on him. As for the other girl, that's my business. You just need to know that she'll be fine and will wake up soon. The police officer will also wake up soon, and this matter is over."
Xia Chen raised his hand. "Can I ask one more question?"
Su Youqing nodded. "Go ahead and ask."
"What exactly happened on that stormy night? I suspect that your Thousand-Handed Eye awakened that night."
Su Youqing looked terrified and said after a long time, "This is my business, I don't want to talk about it."
Li Xiao asked again, "Nurse Song's death is related to you, isn't it? You killed her, didn't you?"
Su Youqing answered affirmatively, "That's right. I went to her house that night, and I hypnotized her to make her look like a madwoman, so that she would smash her head against the glass door of the old building and die. The reason is simple: she switched the pills and killed my husband's good friend and that innocent girl, so she had to die."
Li Xiao pressed further, "How can you be so sure Nurse Song did it? Aren't you afraid of killing the wrong person?"
“No secret can escape my eyes, including yours. I know who you are, what your true identity is, and what you want to do. Heh… Everyone has a little secret in their heart. Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone your secret.” Xia Chen wondered to himself, could Li Xiao be an undercover agent sent by the Xia Group? It didn’t seem likely. What secrets did this mysterious trainee policewoman hold?
Luo Xie, who hadn't spoken until now, asked, "You were responsible for the series of bombings at the Xia Group, weren't you? And that secret room with the large bottle, you were behind that too, weren't you? How did you do it?"
"That's right. The Xia Group indirectly caused the deaths of Su Youqing's husband and her favorite student. I must make the Xia Group pay a price. I did design that secret room. I intended to seal Duan Ganxuanbang inside forever, but someone found it, released him, and then blew up the pipes, almost suffocating you all inside. If I survive today, I will definitely find out who that person is. As for how I did it, it's simple. I have powerful mental strength, although I can't use it unless absolutely necessary, it still exists. For me, hypnotizing an ordinary person is as easy as eating and drinking."
Su Youqing's words made Xia Chen think of another question, "You killed Duan Ganxuanbang, right? Before he died, he said that you told him to go to the police station and kill Dr. Wei. What's going on here?"
"There's no one else in the world who understands his abilities besides me. All his power comes from the blood core inside his body. Once the connection between him and the blood core is severed, he'll quickly turn into a pool of foul-smelling blood. I didn't order Dr. Wei to be killed; someone stole my image and could easily do this using their pupil technique. The motive for killing him is simple: to cover it up. The intestinal worms have nothing to do with the trip to the northern desert; someone is deliberately trying to mislead us." Su Youqing has already pointed out who the mastermind is. Now, besides her, probably only 'that person' can use the miasma technique. Su Youqing then changed the subject, saying, "I've said enough. You have to discover the truth yourself to experience the joy of it. You're very smart; I hope I haven't misjudged you."
Su Youqing stood up and looked around.
"Anyone else have questions? If not, I'm about to begin?"
Xia Chen watched as she slowly approached the unconscious Ye Cheng, then blocked her path and asked, "What are you going to do?"
“I need to wake your friend up. Although I didn’t use the miasma on him, he wouldn’t have been in this situation if I hadn’t knocked him unconscious. Oh, and I also found this on him. It’s useless now, so here you go.” Su Youqing took out a neatly folded square piece of paper and handed it to Xia Chen.
The paper was slightly yellowed. Xia Chen opened it and saw that it was a household registration file from many years ago, belonging to Su Youqing. However, in the former name column, it clearly stated Tian Zi. Su Youqing said, "Back then, I didn't know how to hide my tracks and made some very basic mistakes. Although I tried my best to make up for it afterward, I still left some evidence. I didn't expect this young policeman to find it. He's quite capable."
Su Youqing raised her hand, palm facing Ye Cheng's head. Everyone gathered around, and Xia Chen said, "Didn't you say you couldn't use your mental power? You must need to use your mental power to wake my friend up, right?"
Su Youqing nodded. "Indeed, it would take a lot of mental energy to wake your friend up. After he wakes up, I will definitely have a mental breakdown and become what people call a lunatic."
Luo Shimin couldn't bear it. She asked, "Isn't there any other way?"
"There's no one else in the world who knows how to use miasma. I just temporarily trapped her in the miasma, putting her to sleep. Once she wakes up, she could unleash the miasma at any moment and kill this young policeman. This is my fault, and I must take responsibility. I think being a carefree madman isn't so bad. So many years have passed, I'm tired and want to rest. I'm done with this mess. But I'm lucky to have met you guys. If you had shown up sooner, things wouldn't be like this now. Now I'm going to dispel the miasma, so stay away. You'd better call a doctor. I don't want to hurt any of you when I go crazy."
Everyone took five or six steps back, and Luo Shimin cried out through tears, "Teacher Su."
"Just call me Tian Zi. It's been so many years since I've heard anyone call me by my real name."
Everyone called out, "Tian Zi!" Even Luo Xie's voice was choked with emotion.
"Goodbye, this filthy world." Tian Zi's eyes transformed into the Thousand Wheels Eye, and a red light shot out from her eyes, entering Ye Cheng's forehead. A layer of visible gray miasma appeared all over Ye Cheng's body. Tian Zi pushed her palm, and a gust of wind blew away the miasma.
“In an hour or two… he… he… will…!” Tian Zi’s words became slower and slower until she could no longer speak, and she just stood there blankly.
Xia Chen shielded Luo Shimin and tentatively asked, "Tian Zi, Teacher Su, are you alright?"
Tian Zi turned around, drool dripping from the corner of her mouth. Her Thousand Wheel Eyes disappeared, and her eyes first showed a look of confusion, followed by resentment, dissatisfaction, madness, and anger. Everyone understood that she had really gone mad.
Tian Zi roared, "You bunch of bastards, I'll fight you to the death!" and lunged at Meng Po. Luo Xie blocked her, but the crazed woman's strength increased, and Luo Xie almost couldn't hold her down. Meng Po was terrified and opened the door to call the doctor. Tian Zi turned around and bit Luo Xie's arm hard, but Luo Xie didn't let go. It wasn't until the doctor rushed in and gave Tian Zi a strong sedative injection that he finally released her. A large chunk of flesh was almost bitten off Luo Xie's arm.
An hour later, Zheng Yubing and Ye Cheng woke up one after the other. The lump on Zheng Yubing's hand had disappeared. Xia Chen told him about Tian Zi's madness in trying to save him. Ye Cheng was furious and wanted to fight Xuan Xiaotong, but Xia Chen and Luo Xie held him down. The doctor who rushed over at the sound almost dragged him away, thinking he was mentally ill.
The bizarre case seemed to have come to an end.
016 Stormy Night
A few days later, Ye Cheng and Zheng Yubing were both discharged from the hospital. Upon waking, she couldn't remember what had happened. Tian Zi had completely lost her mind, making it impossible for her to find out why Zheng Yubing had been attacked. Ye Cheng returned to the police station to continue being a happy little policeman. Zheng Yubing still occasionally returned to the hospital, taking turns with Hu Rongrong to care for the mummy, Shui Lan. Luo Shimin clung to Xia Chen all day, and the two of them would also come to visit Shui Lan.
One afternoon, Xia Chen and Luo Shimin took a walk on campus after lunch. Luo Shimin's hand injury had long since healed. She linked arms with Xia Chen, and the warm sunshine made them feel cozy. Xia Chen enjoyed this feeling. He was gradually finding the feeling of being in love, and he no longer felt cold but had become more sunny.
As they walked, Xia Chen suddenly stopped. Luo Shimin noticed his unusual expression and asked, "What's wrong?"
“I feel like someone is following us, and they’ve been following us for a long time.”
"Someone's following us?" Luo Shimin didn't believe it. Who in Yishi Academy would dare to follow her? She looked back, but there was no one on the road behind her. Xia Chen didn't seem to be joking either. She was confused again.
"Follow me." Xia Chen led Luo Shimin towards the woods next to the old building. The woods were unusually lush, and entering them gave one a chilling, eerie feeling, as if someone was behind them. The students called it the Ghost Forest, the second most terrifying place in Yishi Academy after the old building. Unless it was extremely important, no one from Yishi Academy would dare to approach the Ghost Forest. If someone was indeed watching them, the Ghost Forest would be a good scout.
Xia Chen led Luo Shimin into the Ghost Forest, heading towards its center. The dense foliage of the trees blocked most of the sunlight, and the temperature inside the forest was two or three degrees lower than outside. Luo Shimin shivered, but she wasn't afraid at all. She had already witnessed many terrifying and bizarre things with Xia Chen, and a small Ghost Forest was nothing to her.
Reaching the center of the Ghost Forest, Xia Chen stopped, the feeling of being watched gone. He and Luo Shimin stood back to back, observing the entire forest, Xia Chen gripping the Crow Nine Dagger tightly in his hand. Xia Chen shouted, "Who's there? Come out! I see you!" In reality, he saw nothing; he was just trying to scare her.
“That trick won’t work on me.” A voice suddenly came from beside them.
Xia Chen pulled Luo Shimin behind him, and a man in a black robe appeared beside them. It was he who spoke. "Put your dagger away. I'm not here to fight you. That dagger is too sharp; I don't want it to hurt anyone. We've met before. I thought we were friends."
Luo Shimin asked, "Are you Mr. X?"
"It's me, little girl. Thank you for remembering me."
Xia Chen said sternly, "Since we're friends, why don't you dare show your true face? Who knows what shady things you're doing behind my back?"
“You’ve hurt me deeply. I know you’re eager to know what happened on that stormy night, and I came here specifically to tell you. You’re biting the hand that feeds you. I shouldn’t have come.” Mr. X tried to pique Xia Chen’s interest, but Xia Chen wasn’t having any of it. “If you regret it, you can leave right now. Nobody will stop you.”
"Then I'm leaving." Mr. X took a few steps back, but Xia Chen didn't even glance at him, let alone stop him. Luo Shimin was a little anxious, but she couldn't make the decision.
“I give up. Since I’m already here, I might as well finish what I’m saying before I leave.” Mr. X walked back and leaned against a tree, about to begin his story, when Luo Shimin said, “I know what happened on the stormy night. Hu Rongrong told us. The mute girl was lying in a pool of blood, with two round holes in her neck from which blood was still flowing. Ade was crawling on top of the mute girl’s body, his eyes bloodshot, his face contorted, and his body covered in blood. Duan Ganxuanbang was lying not far away, with a horrifying hole in the middle of his head, white brain matter spilling all over the ground. Xuan Xiaotong stood expressionless not far away, holding Duan Ganxiaosheng in her arms, his fate unknown. Then Tian Zi’s Thousand Wheel Eyes awakened.”
“Hehe…” Mr. X laughed wildly, “Girl, that’s just a story. A story is called a story because it incorporates personal creations and distorts the facts. What I’m going to tell you is the truth of what happened that night.”
Xia Chen snorted, "How do we know if you're telling the truth or not? Who can prove that what you're saying is true?"
"You'll slowly realize I'm telling the truth," Mr. X began. "On that stormy night, the sky was overcast, and the rain hadn't started yet. Tian Zi felt uneasy. She grabbed an umbrella and ran out of the dormitory to where the mute mother and the two babies lived. In the corridor, she heard voices coming from a room. She moved quietly towards it. The door was ajar. Tian Zi peeked through the crack and saw Ade and Xuan Xiaotong in the room. The mute mother was sitting to one side. Ade was drawing blood from Duan Gan Xiaosheng with a thick syringe. Beside him was another syringe already full of blood, drawn from Duan Gan Xuanbang. Xuan Xiaotong watched with a grin."
Tian Zi was furious. She pushed open the door and demanded, "Ade, what are you doing? These are two babies who are not even a year old. How could you do this to them?"
Seeing Tian Zi's surprise, Ade explained, "I don't want to hurt these two babies. I'm saving them. These two children have some kind of genetic defect, and I'm trying to find a way to cure them. Once they turn one year old, there will be no cure."
Xuan Xiaotong pulled Tian Zi aside and explained, "Tian Zi, Ade is really saving them. You haven't seen what the two children looked like when they had an attack. It was terrifying."
"I don't believe you." Tian Zi pushed Xuan Xiaotong away. "What I saw were two healthy babies. They didn't have any diseases. If you want to lie to me, you should make up a better excuse. I'm a medical student too. Have you forgotten? I know what it means to be sick."
Ade said in a serious tone, "Their illnesses are very strange; they can only be detected when they flare up, and the time for them to flare up is fast approaching."
Tian Zi roared, "I still don't believe it! You two get out of this house right now!" Just as the two reached the doorway, Tian Zi felt a chill erupt behind her. She turned around and saw two babies crawling on the floor, their eyes glowing red, drool dripping from their mouths, their faces contorted in a grotesque grimace, crawling towards her. Tian Zi took two steps back, terrified by the two children, she cried out, "Xuanbang, Xiaosheng, what's wrong with you two?"
Ade exclaimed, "Oh no, they've both had an attack!" He took a bottle of medicine out of his pocket. "Hopefully it will work and stop their attacks."
Xuan Xiaotong snatched the medicine away, and Ade panicked, "What are you doing?"
Xuan Xiaotong said with a smile, "I want to see just how amazing these two kids are. I don't want Tian Zi to think I'm a bad person."
"Give me the medicine right now!" Ade roared. "This is no time for jokes; the consequences could be very serious."
"I won't." Xuan Xiaotong grabbed the medicine and ran off.
The two children crawled to Tian Zi's feet, hugged her legs, and bit her leg hard. She could feel them sucking her blood. She tried to shake them off, but they held on tightly and wouldn't budge.
Ade caught up with Xuan Xiaotong and was about to snatch the medicine bottle from her hand when Xuan Xiaotong pulled out a syringe from her pocket and stabbed Ade in the neck. "What did you do?" Ade shouted.
Xuan Xiaotong said with a wicked smile, "I want to see just how capable these two kids really are, so you just sit here and watch how things unfold."
Tian Zi felt a large amount of blood draining away, and a chill ran up her legs. She was about to die!
Suddenly, a golden light burst from Tian Zi's eyes, slinging the two children away. Tian Zi collapsed weakly to the ground.
The two children lay on the ground for a few seconds, then rolled over and got up again, their eyes glowing even redder, and crawled towards Tian Zi once more. The mute woman ran over and hugged the two children. A bolt of lightning flashed across the night sky, followed by a deafening clap of thunder. Tian Zi witnessed an extremely horrifying scene. The two children had bitten through the mute woman's carotid artery, and warm blood gushed out rapidly. The two infants were draining their mother's blood right before Tian Zi's eyes. Even more terrifying things followed. After drinking her blood, the two children became even more terrifying. They fought, and after Duan Gan Xiaosheng knocked down Duan Gan Xuanbang, he smashed his head and ate his brains. Then he returned to normal, wailing loudly in a pool of blood.
"Amazing!" Xuan Xiaotong clapped her hands and said, "So young and already so amazing, you will become an excellent warrior, and there are still many secrets about you that have not been revealed."
Tian Zi was still in shock. Xuan Xiaotong searched the mute woman's body, "Let me see what little secrets you're hiding." She found a silk handkerchief in the mute woman's pocket with her name written on it—Duan Gan Yishu. Tian Zi lewdly said, "Duan Ganxiang really is your brother, isn't he? You two created a one-of-a-kind baby. Now, I'm leaving with my baby." Xuan Xiaotong grabbed Duan Gan Xiaosheng and ran off.
"That's what happened that night," Mr. X finished recounting. "I'm leaving now."
"Wait..." Luo Shimin wanted to know if the two children's parents were involved in the case of Mr. X's disappearance. She could only ask Xia Chen, "Is what he said true?"
“Who knows?” Xia Chen shrugged. “But I’ll write this story down.” Xia Chen took Luo Shimin’s hand and left the Ghost Forest.
Volume Four: Bone Worms
sequence
It's late at night.
Tonight, there is no moon or stars; the night sky is shrouded in heavy, leaden clouds, plunging everything into darkness. On the edge of the city, a cluster of eerie buildings lies hidden in the shadows. The most terrifying of these is an old-fashioned European-style building. In the hazy moonlight, a dark aura seems to swirl around it. Approaching it even slightly, one feels a chill creep into their body, traveling along their veins to their heart. It's as if a pair of eyes are constantly watching them from behind, until fear overwhelms their reason, causing them to flee in terror. Too many bloody crimes have occurred within this building, unsolved to this day. Legend has it that the ghosts of the victims linger there, emitting chilling cries at night, and some passersby have even heard horrifying weeping.
But tonight the old building was unusually quiet, so quiet that there wasn't a sound at all, like a tomb exuding death.
Sudden……
Slow, heavy footsteps echoed from the old building. Thump... thump...
A bolt of lightning ripped through the dark clouds in the sky, shooting out a beam of golden light. Moments later, a muffled rumble of thunder rolled in, and soon after, raindrops the size of beans poured down, pattering against the glass.
The footsteps stopped, and another flash of lightning streaked across the night sky. In the brief light, a middle-aged man of about fifty could be seen standing blankly in front of a door. He was balding and carrying a large bag, but his eyes shone with a cold light.
He slowly raised his hand and pushed open the door.
With a teeth-grinding creak, the door opened, and a wisp of dust fell from it, landing all over the middle-aged man's head. He paid no attention and walked into the room. The air was filled with a pungent, earthy smell, and the tables, chairs, and benches inside were covered with a thick layer of dust, but the middle-aged man didn't seem to care.
This is an abandoned classroom; it's clear that no one has been here for a long time.
The middle-aged man placed his backpack on the ground, the sound of wood clanging against each other echoing from within. He opened it, bent down, and took out one wooden plaque after another, placing them on the podium. There were many plaques, one after another. After taking them all out, the middle-aged man was a little tired. Ignoring how dirty the ground was, he sat down and panted heavily.
