Ghosts in Medical School Horror Files - Chapter 54
What exactly happened? What exactly happened?
This was the strangest thing Xia Chen had ever encountered, and it was the first time he had ever felt such fear.
Xia Chen reached out to touch the mirror, and the moment he did so, the "Xia Chen" in the mirror suddenly smiled at him.
Xia Chen was immediately stunned.
Xia Chen in the mirror looked like a different person, gazing at the world outside the mirror, oblivious to everything else.
However, Xia Chen's reflection in the mirror wore a gloomy expression. He smiled slightly at Xia Chen outside the mirror, a smile full of malice.
"Who are you? Who exactly are you?" Xia Chen outside the mirror couldn't help but shout.
The person in the mirror seemed to be able to hear Xia Chen speaking; he smiled crookedly, and his bright eyes shone with malice.
Xia Chen was startled and immediately took a step back, but the person in the mirror did not move!
There really is someone in the mirror! Or rather, the person in the mirror isn't him!
Now, Xia Chen finally believed his eyes.
He stared in astonishment at the strange mirror, and the person in the mirror suddenly spoke: "Move aside."
Xia Chen was startled again, and he instinctively touched his face. The face in the mirror was exactly the same as his own. How could someone who values seniority speak like that?
"Who are you?" Xia Chen asked immediately.
"Principal," the person in the mirror replied coldly.
Wait, the principal? Is he the principal of Yishi Academy?
Suddenly, the person in the mirror moved.
Xia Chen sensed something was wrong, but then, his vision blurred. Xia Chen instinctively turned his head and felt a "whoosh" sound beside his ear, as if something had flown past him.
After the blankness in his mind faded, Xia Chen looked at the mirror in surprise.
He was clearly standing in front of the mirror, but there was nothing in the mirror.
A faint light shone through the window behind him, reflecting in the mirror. The mirror reflected the window not far away and the door nearby, but not Xia Chen!
Xia Chen immediately reached out to touch the mirror; the mercury mirror sent a cool sensation to his fingers. The mirror was real, his fingers were real, so why wasn't he reflected in it?
Just as he was pondering this, he suddenly heard a "whoosh..." sound, followed by a cold laugh from someone in Xia Chen's ear.
The sound, like a sharp arrow, pierced Xia Chen's eardrums and rushed directly into his brain. Xia Chen immediately covered his ears and turned around in surprise. He found nothing behind him. He looked around and saw no one.
However, Xia Chen clearly sensed that someone was nearby!
There's still one person in this room!
That person was standing near Xia Chen!
"Who is it?" Xia Chen asked immediately, clenching his fist.
In the dim light, the mirror still didn't reflect Xia Chen's image; everything around him was shrouded in darkness. However, the surroundings were empty except for Xia Chen himself.
Sweat had already beaded on Xia Chen's forehead, and even though he was gritting his teeth, he could feel his hands trembling slightly.
This was the first time he had ever encountered something so bizarre; he stood in front of the mirror, yet the mirror did not reflect his face. No matter how hard Xia Chen tried to recall, he couldn't remember how such a room could exist in the laboratory building.
Silence, then silence again.
Sweat clung to his clothes on his back, sending a chill down his spine. Xia Chen cautiously scanned his surroundings; the person must be nearby. Every move Xia Chen made was under his watchful eye; a pair of eyes were watching him in the dim light!
What is it?
What exactly is it?
Suddenly, Xia Chen's gaze fell on the back of that door.
It was an old, yellow door, and suddenly it slowly moved.
Xia Chen's palms were covered in cold sweat again.
But just then, a cold laugh suddenly came from behind Xia Chen!
Xia Chen's heart skipped a beat, and he couldn't help but shout, "Who?"
The empty room was filled only with the echo of his loud shouts. Xia Chen was furious, gritted his teeth, and glared fiercely at his surroundings.
"Come out!" Xia Chen shouted immediately.
The room fell into complete silence, as if it had been submerged three thousand meters underwater, with only Xia Chen's heartbeat audible. Xia Chen looked around again, and this time, he made up his mind completely.
He took a deep breath and walked in the direction the man had fled. That was the darkest part of the room, and he headed in that direction.
Darkness, endless darkness, swallowed him up in an instant.
The silence, the endless silence, was terrifying.
Suddenly, a strange sound came, like water or blood dripping onto the ground.
The sound of water dripping continued.
Suddenly, with a "whoosh" sound, a figure flashed past in the darkness, and Xia Chen immediately rushed towards the blurry shadow. But after only two steps, Xia Chen stopped.
It was so dark here that it was almost impossible to tell which way was which. An indescribable eeriness permeated this endless darkness and silence.
It was so quiet, so quiet that Xia Chen could hear his own heartbeat and the hissing sound in the air. His mind was a complete mess. What was happening?
First, what is this room actually used for?
Secondly, the person who looked exactly like me was actually the principal?
Did that person really appear? Or was it all just his hallucination?
Xia Chen began to feel confused, his thoughts a jumbled mess that he couldn't untangle.
Suddenly, Xia Chen felt something on his shoulder. Immediately afterward, a foul stench rushed into his nostrils. Just as Xia Chen was about to turn his head, he suddenly felt a chill on his ear. He subconsciously turned his head and heard a "hiss" sound, like a biting sound.
Something attacked him without his knowledge!
Xia Chen was taken aback. He immediately rushed forward and reached for something on his shoulder. His hand grabbed something smooth and sticky. He instinctively pulled, but the thing slipped out of his hand with a "whoosh".
A sudden gust of cold wind rushed in, and Xia Chen felt a sharp pain in his leg that almost made him fall over. Something had attacked him!
In the darkness, the thing relentlessly attacked. Xia Chen dodged and weaved, but it seemed he could never escape its reach. He took a few steps back, and the thing immediately followed. Could it be that this thing could see him in the dark?
Xia Chen was forced to retreat step by step by that thing, finally reaching the window. The thing seemed afraid of the light and didn't follow. Panting, Xia Chen saw himself in the mirror; this time, it was truly himself. He pressed one hand against the mirror, the cold, stinging sensation seeping into his palm.
The reflection in the mirror was reversed; nothing was added or missing—just an ordinary mirror. In the mirror, Xia Chen was injured; his face was scraped. Xia Chen noticed something wet on his shoulder; he turned to look and saw a puddle of green liquid. The liquid also contained something shimmering. Xia Chen reached up and grabbed the shimmering object from his shirt.
Xia Chen's expression changed drastically. It was fish scales!
Could it have been a fish that just attacked him?
Suddenly, a faint sobbing sound came from the darkness. The sobbing sound was like a handsome cry, as if it were telling an endless story of sorrow.
The crying sound came and went, sometimes near, sometimes far, sometimes faint, rushing into my mind like a needle pricking my head.
The crying seemed to be telling someone about his misfortunes, as if he were pleading for someone to come and rescue him. Suddenly, darkness descended, and Xia Chen realized with a start that he had unknowingly wandered into the darkness once again.
Xia Chen was startled; he had absolutely no memory of the time he spent going from under the window to the darkness!
The crying continued, and Xia Chen was surprised to find that his legs were already moving, as if they were not obeying his commands at all, but rather following the orders conveyed by the crying.
His body moved involuntarily into the darkness, and when Xia Chen tried to turn back, he found that his body was completely going against the will of his brain.
It was as if he couldn't wake up from a nightmare; no matter how Xia Chen struggled, his body wouldn't obey his commands. Seeing that he was once again in danger, Xia Chen steeled his heart and bit his tongue hard.
When he came to his senses again, he was already standing at the corner between the third and fourth floors of the laboratory building. He sat on the ground, drenched in sweat. He had no recollection of how he had just escaped the pursuit of the crying.
His mouth was filled with the metallic sweetness of blood; he had just bitten his tongue. Xia Chen looked up and was startled.
Before me was a white wall.
Xia Chen immediately stood up and touched the wall, but there was nothing on the snow-white surface.
Where's the door?
Where is that door from before?
Was everything that just happened just a pipe dream?
No, Xia Chen could clearly feel the pain in his thigh, the pain from the attack he had just suffered. Looking down at his clothes, the green liquid was a shocking sight.
Everything that just happened was real!
Xia Chen's heart sank. What on earth was going on?
What just happened wasn't a dream, yet it also felt like one. If nothing had happened, there wouldn't be wounds and green liquid on his body. If it truly existed, then where was the door in front of him? Where did the door go?
Suddenly the phone rang, and Xia Chen answered it to hear Ye Cheng's displeased voice: "Why aren't you here yet?"
005 Five minutes later
Five minutes later, Ye Cheng saw Xia Chen.
Ye Cheng was somewhat surprised by Xia Chen's appearance. It was the first time he had ever seen Xia Chen look like he had lost his soul; Xia Chen's face had turned very pale.
Upon reaching the fourth floor and seeing Ye Cheng and Li Xiao, Xia Chen suddenly breathed a sigh of relief, his legs buckling and nearly causing him to fall. Ye Cheng quickly came over to help Xia Chen up, but Xia Chen refused.
He is someone who doesn't like to accept help from others; he has to work hard to adapt to all the discomfort on his own.
Thankfully, Li Xiao quickly grabbed a chair from the chemistry lab entrance, and Xia Chen plopped down. In the empty corridor, Xia Chen, Li Xiao, and Ye Cheng stared at each other. Xia Chen sat there, panting heavily, while Ye Cheng looked at him thoughtfully…
Li Xiao immediately handed Xia Chen a cup of hot water, which he drank in one gulp, and his complexion finally eased a bit.
Xia Chen nodded gratefully and returned the cup to Li Xiao.
Li Xiao smiled slightly and asked, "How does it taste?"
"Thank you," Xia Chen said.
Li Xiao smiled mischievously, tilted her head back, and said excitedly, "Do you know why there's hot water here?"
Xia Chen was suddenly stumped by Li Xiao's question. Yes, this is the experimental building and there is no hot water supply.
"How did you do that?" Xia Chen asked.
Li Xiao chuckled, blinked, made a gun gesture with her hand and placed it under her chin, revealing her cute little white teeth.
Ye Cheng looked at his lively apprentice and couldn't help but smile and shake his head, while Xia Chen noticed the problem and frowned.
