Глава 29

Meng Yang was still not satisfied and pecked at it again.

Liu Zhi's back stiffened again and again.

This pose is quite peculiar.

Meng Yang knelt on her knees, one hand around her neck and the other supporting himself on the edge of the bed.

Liu Zhi's mind was a complete mess.

Both of them were quite inexperienced, and their kiss left them breathless.

The furry kids had just sat down on their own, tilting their heads up to look at the two of them, their little eyes filled with great curiosity.

After finishing his farewell, Meng Yang also felt embarrassed and silently got off Liu Zhi's lap, sitting down next to Liu Zhi's shoulder.

They didn't speak, quietly waiting for the sunrise.

After a while, Meng Yang moved closer to Liu Zhi, wrapped his arms around her, and rested his head on her shoulder.

"Silent One," Meng Yang murmured.

"Hmm?" Liu Zhi responded subconsciously.

"Can you take the initiative a little? I'm always the one who has to, it's exhausting." Meng Yang hugged her arm even tighter, afraid that he might accidentally lose Liu Zhi.

Liu Zhi stroked Meng Yang's head and pressed her cheek against hers.

"That's about right." Meng Yang suppressed the upturned corners of his mouth and pulled the blanket tighter around himself.

They waited and waited until it was completely light.

It's a cloudy day today; the sun is obscured.

"It was all for nothing." Meng Yang leaned on Liu Zhi's shoulder, feeling drowsy. "I'm so sleepy."

"Go to sleep," Liu Zhi said in a low voice.

"Are you hungry? If you are, I'll make some breakfast first," Meng Yang said weakly.

"I'm not hungry. Let's have brunch after I wake up."

"good."

...

Meng Yang was truly exhausted, and Liu Zhi's gaze lingered on her face.

Her heart warmed up.

Meng Yangzhen got together with her.

So this is what it feels like to face yourself directly—a little gratified, a little moved, but mostly relieved.

Around ten o'clock, Liu Zhi got up to prepare today's lunch.

With little food left in the refrigerator, Liu Zhi changed her clothes and went to the nearby supermarket.

It had been a long time since Liu Zhi had had such a leisurely time, and everything seemed new and interesting to him.

Meng Yang loves dairy products. When Liu Zhi passed by the dairy products section, she made a point of checking the production date and picked up two trays of yogurt.

When Meng Yang woke up, he did not see Liu Zhiren.

The furry kids were full and lying in the living room.

Pear Blossom nestled on the sofa with a cat toy, teasing Milkball, who bounced and jumped around under the sofa.

Meng Yang searched around but couldn't find anyone, so he had to call Liu Zhi.

The phone rang twice before connecting.

"What's wrong?" There was some noise on Liu Zhi's end.

"Where are you?" Meng Yang asked, rubbing his hair as he sat down on the sofa.

"I'm at the supermarket near the neighborhood, do you want to come?"

"I'm coming right away, you wait here." Meng Yang strode to the restroom. "Going to the supermarket without me is too much."

"I'll be waiting for you in the dairy section." Liu Zhi rested her arm on the shopping cart handle. "Hurry up."

The word "speed" was their secret code during high school.

Once a week, during PE class, the two of them would sneak off to the library. Liu Zhi was tall, so standing in the back row made it easy for her to escape. Meng Yang, who was 1.63 meters tall, stood in the front row, and the slightest movement would be noticed by the PE teacher.

Before fleeing, Liu Zhi would mouth the word "speed" to Meng Yang.

Then, taking advantage of the opportunity while leading the team from the basketball court to the running track, Meng Yanghui quickly escaped.

The library is warm in winter and cool in summer; escaping inside to read is simply wonderful.

Later, other students started imitating them. Sometimes when they called roll, there were 60 or 70 people, but when they got to the playground, there were only 40 or 50 left.

Perhaps because of Liu Zhi and Meng Yang's grades, the homeroom teacher always turned a blind eye to their behavior.

Meng felt a warmth in his heart.

“Speed,” she said.

...

Liu Zhi was indeed waiting for her in the dairy products section.

"What are you going to do with so much milk?" Meng Yang asked as he approached.

"Here you go," Liu Zhi said calmly.

"And there's also old-fashioned yogurt." Meng Yang glanced at the shopping basket.

Liu Zhi hummed in agreement.

Meng Yang took Liu Zhi's arm, and Liu Zhi visibly stiffened for a moment.

"Please," Meng Yang said with a smile, "Dr. Liu needs to adapt to his new role."

"Okay." Liu Zhi's voice was calm, but her heart was racing.

Meng Yang and she pushed the shopping cart together.

"Dr. Liu, shall we hold hands?" Meng Yang opened his palm, waiting for Liu Zhi to place it on his.

My palms are warm, and so is my heart.

This feeling is not bad.

When passing through the crowded area, Meng Yang let go of Liu Zhi's hand and protected her back.

It took more than an hour to pick and choose the fruits, vegetables and meat.

It was already eleven o'clock when they got home. Meng Yang was hungry, so he opened a carton of yogurt and stood next to Liu Zhi.

“You leave it, I’ll do it,” Meng Yang said.

Liu Zhi rolled up his sleeves and began washing the vegetables by himself.

Meng Yang hurriedly put down his yogurt and helped Liu Zhi pick vegetables.

"Go to the side," Meng Yang said. "Don't interfere with my performance."

Lunch consisted of three dishes and a soup, all of which were very simple and bland, comparable to the meals served to patients in the affiliated hospital's cafeteria.

While eating, Meng Yang rested his chin on his hand, looked at Liu Zhi, and couldn't help but grin foolishly.

Liu Zhi put down his chopsticks and looked at Meng Yang with a silly grin.

"There's still some soup from yesterday in the fridge, would you like some more?" Meng Yang chuckled, then snapped out of his daze and changed the subject to divert Liu Zhi's attention.

"A bit silly," Liu Zhi concluded.

Meng Yang ignored him and went to the kitchen to heat up the soup.

The medicinal soup was cooked again, and the broth was even thicker.

The rose petals and red dates in the pot were overcooked, so Meng Yang strained the soup to make it look better.

The soup had a strong ginger flavor, which Liu Zhi could smell even from this distance.

"How did the hot soup turn into boiled soup?" Liu Zhi asked curiously.

"Here it comes, here it comes, it's here!" Meng Yang carefully held the rim of the bowl and slowly walked over.

Liu Zhi took it and placed it directly on the dining table.

"Not hot?"

"hot."

"You're incredibly patient." Meng Yang gave Liu Zhi a thumbs up.

"You flatter me," Liu Zhi said, blowing on the soup.

"Should we go to the medical affairs department this afternoon to find out about the situation?"

"I'm not going," Meng Yang said, picking at the food in his bowl. "I want to stay home with my girlfriend."

Liu Zhi choked on the soup.

"Just kidding, my parents are coming over this afternoon." Meng Yang smiled and said, "Why haven't you gotten used to it yet, Dr. Liu?"

Liu Zhi awkwardly tossed her hair, revealing her reddened ears.

“Your ears are red.” Meng Yang pointed to his earlobe, running his index finger halfway around his earlobe.

Liu Zhi's ears turned even redder, as if Meng Yang was stroking her ears at that moment.

"My uncle and aunt are coming over this afternoon, should I avoid them?"

The thought that Meng's mother knew about her relationship with Meng Yang made Liu Zhi feel somewhat embarrassed.

"Your dad knows you..."

“He doesn’t know,” Meng Yang sighed. “If I tell him, he’ll be shocked.”

Meng Yang was not lying; in the afternoon, Meng's father and mother indeed arrived.

Meng's father was incredibly enthusiastic, praising Liu Zhi from the moment he entered until Meng Yang brought him his favorite tea.

"Kid, is your back pain serious? My classmate is an expert in this area. Do you want him to take a look?"
