Kapitel 58

After taking the medicine, Zhou Mingqian felt his stomach gradually feel better.

He took the phone, intending to delete Xi Jia.

What if I get a stomachache again later?

Finally, Zhou Mingqian tossed his phone aside and went to sleep.

It was already 3 a.m.

The following day was the weekend.

Wu Yang was off work today and came to visit the set. He called Xi Jia early this morning in case she forgot.

Xi Jia sat to the side reading the script. Yu An made her some milk tea. It was cold, there was no air conditioning in the room, and the crew had limited resources, so they could only drink hot drinks to keep warm every day.

Xi Jia was listening to the recording while reading the script. She took off her headphones and said, "Thank you."

Yu An had always treated her well, and when he had free time, he liked to sit quietly next to her.

Xi Jia rarely chats with others, as it wastes time and she's afraid of making mistakes. However, she glances at anything related to Yu An every day. It's simple: Yu An basically doesn't talk.

"How old are you?" Xi Jia asked Yu An casually, holding the milk tea in both hands.

Yu An: "In twelve days, I'll be twenty-five."

Xi Jia did the math, "Were you born on New Year's Eve?"

Aside from Zhou Mingqian, Yu An hadn't told anyone in the crew about her background. Facing Xi Jia, she couldn't bear to lie: "I thought that day was pretty good, so I celebrated my birthday. I didn't know it was my birthday."

Xi Jia was puzzled and looked completely bewildered.

Doesn't everyone have an ID card? If you can't remember the lunar calendar date, just look at your ID card for the Gregorian calendar date.

Yu An: "I grew up in an orphanage."

The birthday on her ID card was the date she was found, which was also the day she was abandoned. She didn't like it, so she started celebrating her birthday on Chinese New Year.

Xi Jia suddenly didn't know how to comfort this pitiful girl: "We'll celebrate our birthdays on set this year, and I'll buy you a cake then."

Yu An smiled and said, "Thank you."

As they were talking, Xi Jia's phone rang; it was Wu Yang.

Wu Yang had already arrived at the film set. There were many people, and he didn't see Xi Jia. It was his first time visiting a film set, and he was quite shocked.

Xi Jia turned around, saw Wu Yang, and told him to turn right and then walk forward.

Curious, Yu An turned around and saw the person approaching. Her smile froze. The scar, which hadn't fully healed, tore open again, and the pain was something she could never forget, even after a long, tiring day.

She knew that Xi Jia was a professional equestrian athlete at Wu Yang's club, but she didn't expect them to have such a good relationship in private.

Wu Yang also saw Yu An, whose slender figure turned away.

Yu An stood up. "Sister Xi Jia, I'm going to get busy now."

Xi Jia nodded and said, "A friend of mine is here to visit today because he's off work."

Yu An left hastily and went to Zhou Mingqian's side.

Zhou Mingqian raised his eyelids and glanced at her, "Whose assistant are you anyway? You're always serving tea and water to others."

Yu An pursed her lips, remaining silent. Her thoughts were in turmoil, all related to Wu Yang.

Zhou Mingqian also noticed Wu Yang, and he casually asked Yu An, "Is that Xi Jia's husband?"

Yu An replied, "No. That person is the head of an equestrian club. He has a girlfriend and gets along well with Sister Xi Jia. He's never seen the film crew before, so he came to visit the set."

Zhou Mingqian hummed in agreement and continued with his work.

Wu Yang came to the film set to relax. Since Xi Jia left the club, he had no one to complain to. It was rare for him to be free today, so he came to unwind.

Unexpectedly, he ran into Yu An.

She has a new job and seems to be doing well.

Xi Jia hadn't drunk her milk tea yet, so she handed it to him, saying, "Here, timing is everything. This milk tea was made for me by a pretty girl, so it's for you."

Wu Yang took it but didn't drink it.

He sat down where Yu An had just been sitting.

He didn't listen to anything Xi Jia talked about afterwards, and absentmindedly echoed her words.

Xi Jia stared at him and sighed.

She had checked his notes that morning; he had broken up with his ex-girlfriend and seemed to still be struggling to move on.

Wu Yang stared blankly ahead, seemingly lost in thought, unaware of what he was looking at.

Xi Jia patted his shoulder, "No one is indispensable."

These words, meant to comfort him, pierced Wu Yang's heart.

Yu An is doing just fine after leaving him.

Wu Yang didn't respond, so Xi Jia quietly stayed with him.

Wu Yang unconsciously looked towards the monitor.

He knew Zhou Mingqian; he often saw him on TV. He didn't know why Yu An was standing next to him.

"Is that an actor too?" Wu Yang asked Xi Jia. He pretended not to know Yu An.

Xi Jia: "Zhou Mingqian's assistant."

Wu Yang looked over again.

Zhou Mingqian handed the half-cup of milk tea to Yu An, who naturally took it.

Wu Yang thought of himself and Yu An from the past. Whenever he worked overtime, Yu An would keep him company like this and even make him milk tea.

Yu An likes to drink milk tea, but she doesn't actually like sweets.

Because I really wanted to drink it in high school but couldn't afford to buy it, it became an obsession in my heart, so much so that for so many years, the only thing I've been thinking about is milk tea.

Seeing that Wu Yang was silent again, Xi Jia didn't disturb him and continued reading the script.

The milk tea had gone cold, but Wu Yang was still holding it in his hand.

Before we knew it, an hour had passed.

Xi Jia put away the script. "Why aren't you drinking yet? It'll get cold soon."

It's already cold.

Xi Jia: "Let go of the past, look forward, there's no hurdle you can't overcome. Look at me."

Wu Yang changed the subject, "How are things going between you and Mo Yushen?"

Xi Jia: "It's great. We're like a married couple now."

Wu Yang nodded and remarked with a sigh, "You and Mo Yushen didn't even know each other at this time last year." Time really flies. Back then, he and Yu An were doing just fine.

Xi Jia asked another question: "Do you remember when I met Mo Yushen?"

Wu Yang nodded; it was exactly the day after the tour ended. He told Xi Jia the date.

Xi Jia couldn't remember anything, not even the scene of her first meal with Mo Yushen. She opened her phone's notes app and wrote down the date of her first meeting with Mo Yushen.

Xi Jia was called over by Zhou Mingqian, while Wu Yang sat alone, his gaze fixed on Yu An.

Yu An had nothing to do at the moment, but he stood next to Zhou Mingqian the whole time.

Wu Yang greeted Xi Jia and said he was going outside for a smoke.

He quit smoking.

I've only been abstaining for two days, I don't know if I'll succeed.

Once outside, Wu Yang borrowed a phone from the security guard and called Yu An, but all of his contact information had been blacklisted by Yu An.

The call was connected.

"It's me. I'm waiting for you by the lake. I have something to tell you, it's about Xi Jia." Without giving Yu An a chance to refuse, he hung up the phone.

Since it was related to Xi Jia, Yu An hesitated for a long time before finally going over.

By the lake, Wu Yang finally couldn't resist and lit a cigarette.

Yu An jogged over, her footsteps hurried behind her. Wu Yang turned around. Yu An was wearing a simple black down jacket, ankle boots, her hair in a bun, and no makeup.

Like an eighteen or nineteen-year-old.

This scene seemed familiar to Wu Yang.

When they first started dating, he would occasionally pick Yu An up from get off work.

She would run out of the company building and stop in front of him, and he would come to pick her up, which flattered her.

Unlike other girls, Yu An never throws herself into her boyfriend's arms and acts coquettishly when she sees him.

She was always cautious, even in her eyes.

Wu Yang snapped out of his thoughts and extinguished his cigarette.

Yu An stopped two meters away from Wu Yang, catching his breath. "Speak quickly if you have something to say, I'm at work." It was so cold that his voice was steaming.

Wu Yang: "Are you settling into your job? How are they treating you?"

Yu An nodded, her heart aching, and remained silent.

Wu Yang put his hands in his pockets and let out a long sigh. "I'm sorry, Yu An."

Yu An shook her head; she didn't want to talk about these things.

Wu Yang: "The New Year is almost here, you..." She didn't know how to continue. She had no home, nowhere to go. "Come to my house for dinner that day."

Yu An: "If there's nothing else, I'm going back. Don't contact me again." She turned to leave.

That timidity, that cautiousness, had vanished from her. She treated him like a stranger.

"Yu An."

Wu Yang called out to her.

He didn't know what to say.

He took out a cigarette and put it in his mouth.
