Nachtpuppe - Kapitel 24

Li Xue followed behind the doctor in the white coat, watching the white figures dance in the air, when suddenly a sense of unease washed over her, and her heart began to pound… Why am I so nervous? Why am I afraid? What am I afraid of? Lei Zi is perfectly fine; he went to find Yu Kai. Is he really alright? Didn't Yu Kai originally intend to kill him? Will it be dangerous for him to go to find him like this?
Li Xue grew increasingly nervous. No! I have to see Zhong Lei! I'm scared!
Driven by this feeling, Li Xue anxiously asked the doctor in front of her, "Huang Qiusheng,"
"Doctor, where do we go to complete the discharge procedures? We're almost out of the hospital!"
When Li Xue spoke, she realized that the white dress had taken her to an unfamiliar place. It was a cement road against a wall, and to her right, beyond the wall, was a busy highway.
Dr. Huang Qiusheng didn't answer, but just kept walking forward. Li Xue called out several more times, but still received no response. She suddenly sensed something was wrong and called out:
"If you don't stop, I'm going back!"
The doctor didn't stop, only leaving behind a chilling voice and a terrifying sentence:
"Okay, go back now! If you go back now, you can find your boyfriend's remains on the hospital bed. I can guarantee there will only be bones."
Li Xue felt a chill run down her spine. Had Lei Zi been kidnapped? Judging from his tone, he seemed to have Lei Zi's life in his hands.
To see Zhong Lei, and for Lei's safety, Li Xue gritted her teeth and followed. The doctor, Huang Qiusheng, unconsciously curled his lips into a wicked smile. "I knew you'd follow. Yu Kai didn't kill Zhong Lei; it was his dereliction of duty. I just received orders to kill him too. So satisfying, haha! Just thinking about him riding on my head makes me go crazy!" Finally, he lost power. Haha! He laughed unintentionally.
The eerie laughter sent a chill down Li Xue's spine. What was he going to do? Had he already killed Lei Zi? And then lured me here to kill him too? The thought of Lei Zi possibly being dead filled Li Xue with despair. Impossible! She kept reassuring herself, "Impossible! He won't die so easily! I have to be strong!"
Upon reaching the vicinity of a small hut, the doctor glanced around, then turned back, smiled, revealing a large gold tooth, and said to Li Xue:
"We're here. He's inside. Come on in! Your boyfriend is inside!"
Li Xue looked at the wretched face with disbelief, but still walked towards the door. The room was quiet, without a sound. Was Lei Zi asleep, or had he been killed? Or was he not even here?
Just as she thought of this, Dr. Huang Qiusheng's large hand patted her back. Li Xue smelled a strange scent and then lost consciousness.
Meanwhile, Zhong Lei and Yu Kai's conversation continued. Zhong Lei became increasingly relaxed as he spoke, while the gloom between Yu Kai's brows deepened.
"Lei Zi, do you think the principal is the real murderer?"
Zhong Lei nodded:
"Yes, many clues point to our principal. He was the one who killed them. He used your abilities to murder those students in a very discreet way when they were in a daze. Then, when the school handled this matter, they deliberately made it mysterious and created a terrifying atmosphere, as if the school was really haunted, and shifted all their guilt onto ghosts."
Hearing these words, Yu Kai's face turned extremely grim, like a storm brewing.

"Let's start with the legend!"
Zhong Lei spoke to Kai in a kind tone:
“Tell me everything you know, and I’ll share what I’ve heard and thought with you. We need to work together to expose the principal’s conspiracy!”
Yu Kai nodded enthusiastically after hearing this.
"Yes! You can tell me what you've observed, and I can explain the reasons to you!"
Then, the two looked at each other and smiled, and the atmosphere of the conversation became even more harmonious.
"When I was in my first year of high school, I heard about the series of suicides on the sixth floor of Dormitory Building No. 1 during a conversation with an upperclassman. Moreover, in the rumors that followed, I learned that almost every time a suicide occurred, someone wearing white clothes would be seen. And on the night we went to that dilapidated house, I also saw white clothes at the entrance of the alley of Dormitory Building No. 1. I wondered if there was any connection between these events?"
“Well, I can explain that. The white clothes you saw were mine,” Yu Kai said calmly.
Zhong Lei pondered for a moment. It was very likely that Yu Kai hadn't gone with them that night, and given Yu Kai's strange expression when they returned to the duty room, Yu Kai must have been involved. So, he replied softly:
"Oh? It's you?"
"What? You didn't guess? White clothes are what people like us wear when we're on the move. Didn't you notice I'm wearing white today too?" she said, looking down at herself.
Only then did Zhong Lei notice Yu Kai's snow-white attire, from his shirt to his shoes, and even a white flower pinned to his chest. Seeing this, Zhong Lei frowned.
"What? Someone has passed away?"
Yu Kai gently stroked the white flower, then blew on it, and said in a seemingly casual tone:
"Hmm, almost there. This was prepared for you."
Zhong Lei had considered this, but hearing these words still made him tremble with surprise. Yu Kai was truly unpredictable now; having completely revealed his true nature, there was nothing left to hide. So, it seemed that he was now facing the real Yu Kai. "Ha! Yu Kai, I need to get to know you again!" Zhong Lei thought to himself. However, Yu Kai didn't have much time left for him.
"Would you like to know how the others died?"
Yu Kai suddenly stared at Zhong Lei, his gaze sweeping up and down Zhong Lei's face as if he were scrutinizing him, or perhaps it held some important meaning, though no one could tell. Then, he slowly uttered these words.
"Of course I want to! That's one of the goals I started investigating!"
Yu Kai snorted coldly.
"Hmph! I don't know how deep your so-called investigation has gone, but I do know that there are some things you can't know, and you'll never know, because you're just an ordinary person after all."
Zhong Lei was momentarily speechless, so he gestured to Yu Kai to continue by remaining silent.
"That night when you were on duty, you were the only living person left when you went out!"
"What?!" Zhong Lei suddenly felt a chill run from his feet to his head. Thinking back to that night, he realized he had actually walked on the school's roads with four living dead! And it was the middle of the night, when the yin energy was at its strongest! Did Yu Kai have the ability to control four people? He voiced his doubts:
"Kai, can you control four people at the same time? Also, how... how did those four people die?"
“Killing four people is too easy for me, and controlling them is something I can do sometimes!” Yu Kai’s face quickly darkened.
"That is, when I'm being controlled by someone else!"

Zhong Lei didn't understand what Yu Kai meant, so Yu Kai continued:
"When the five of you went out, I secretly drugged you. So, on the way, did you notice how strange they were? Weren't you surprised by their ignorant and outrageous claims? How could normal people say such things? Actually, I just wanted to cover up their deaths so I could simply dispose of their bodies as they boasted about. That way, you might feel it's a vengeful ghost seeking revenge, a bit eerie and terrifying, wouldn't that be better? If you stop yourselves from meddling, it'll save me a lot of trouble."
Zhong Lei nodded, his slightly furrowed brows expressing his confusion, and said:
"Hmm, that makes sense, but did you really kill them? And not the principal?"
Yu Kai looked at Zhong Lei with a wicked grin, a sinister line appearing at the corner of his mouth:
“Zhong Lei, you know too much, you’re too curious! With you like this, there’s no way I can help you unless you join us and do business with us.” Before Zhong Lei could answer, Yu Kai immediately chimed in:
"However, that's unlikely, because we already have enough people. We haven't even killed them all yet, so we probably won't be taking in any new recruits anytime soon. So—" Yu Kai paused slightly, then looked up at Zhong Lei, his eyes flashing with a fierce light.
"You'll only have death!"
The two young men stood in the center of the pavilion, staring at each other. Zhong Lei's face was full of disbelief, while Yu Kai's fierce gaze was filled with hatred.
Zhong Lei looked somewhat comical in his hospital gown, while Yu Kai was the complete opposite. His white clothes were loose and billowed in the wind, the hem of his shirt fluttering in the breeze, seemingly exuding a murderous aura. In terms of presence, Zhong Lei suddenly seemed less imposing.
"You are not Yu Kai!"
Zhong Lei suddenly screamed!
"Who are you? Where is Yu Kai?"
"Ha! You finally realized it? How slow you are. But I won't waste my breath arguing with you anymore; I've already said too much."
Yu Kai glanced contemptuously at the surprised and angry young man in front of him, then reached out and patted Zhong Lei on the shoulder with his right hand.
Zhong Lei was both angry and afraid. He was angry that he hadn't seen through the fake Yu Kai, and he was afraid that Yu Kai was no longer alive.
Amidst this emotional turmoil, he gradually felt his head spinning, the face before him began to distort, blur, and sway before finally disappearing, and the world returned to darkness.

"No! I want to go to the pavilion! I have to tell Lei Zi!"
Yu Kai rushed excitedly toward the door, when a calm voice sounded behind him.
"You don't need to go."
Upon hearing this, Yu Kai was very surprised. He turned around and looked at the man behind him.
"Why?"
"Because you don't even need to leave this door."
Then, Yu Kai's body began to move involuntarily. He walked to the sofa, sat down obediently, and took out a long needle from beside him. He looked at his hands with fear, his hands trembling violently, as if he were wrestling with something out of thin air. However, in the end, Yu Kai lost, accompanied by the steel needle piercing through his head.
The man went over and pulled the steel needle out of Yu Kai's forehead. A trickle of blood spurted from the wound. He gently wiped Yu Kai's forehead with his hand, covered the wound with something, and then put a pill into Yu Kai's mouth. A moment later, Yu Kai stood up and went out looking radiant.

The sun was about to set, and its lifeless light resembled the death ray left behind by the Grim Reaper as he retreated into the earth. This meant that many people were about to die!
Phoenix High School, Principal's Office.
The principal paced restlessly in his seat, as if he had hemorrhoids. He was also anxious, thinking, "That Huang Yisheng is so inefficient! Why hasn't he come back yet!"
Meanwhile, Huang Yisheng was standing at the entrance of the school's dilapidated shack, secretly pleased with himself. Such a beautiful girl, she could fetch a good price! Suddenly, his phone rang. It was the principal. He answered a few times, turned around to check the lock, and then walked towards the office building. He had utterly humiliated the medical workers' dignity.
In the small, dilapidated hut, Li Xue, barely alive, was bound by thick hemp rope. Beside her lay another person, dressed in tattered clothes, also on the verge of death. Li Xue faced death without warning, and she wept silently in her heart. She couldn't bear to think that she would leave this world in her youth. The thought of such desolation caused tears to well up in her already dry eyes... "Mom, Dad, Lei Zi, where are you? I miss you!"
Just as Li Xue was feeling heartbroken, another near-dead man beside her spoke. Although his breath was weak, what he said greatly surprised Li Xue, because he called out:
"Li Xue!"
How could he know my name? Do I know him? She studied the man's face carefully for a few moments, feeling a sense of familiarity. Suddenly, she remembered—it was the corpse transporter she'd seen that morning! He knew my name? I hadn't told him!
Although it was difficult, Li Xue still asked:
"How...how...did ?" Her eyes were lifeless, her breath like a candle flickering in the wind, as if she might be extinguished at any moment.
Those underground were also struggling to breathe.
“I…I’m the principal! Don’t…don’t speak, listen to me clearly. Someone has to survive. Get out of here, call the police! Arrest…arrest these bastards…I was…their body was replaced this morning…” As he spoke, blood trickled from the corner of his mouth. Seeing this, Li Xue had no mind to discern right from wrong, because she didn’t know how many minutes she had left to live, so she just listened to him!
"Principal...Principal, please speak slowly, I'm listening."
A fleeting look of relief crossed the corpse carrier's eyes as he endured the excruciating pain:
