Don't touch my man

Introduction

Half-asleep... "Mi'er, Mi'er," someone called me? I struggled to open my heavy eyelids. "Ah!!!" A pale, bloodied face appeared before me. I tried to push it away, but my hands wouldn't move. The face continued to slowly approach me. In desperation, I spat at the terrifying face. "Ugh... Disgusting! Are you kidding me?! Spitting at me?!" The terrifying face disappeared, replaced by Luo Fei's pretty face with a pout. I was fully awake now, sitting up abruptly. "Are you crazy?! You're scaring me half to death!" I looked at the ghostly mask in her hand. Angrily, I pulled a cigarette from under my pillow, lit it, and kicked her off the bed. Hearing her scream, I felt better. Hehe~~ (evil laugh)

My name is Zimi. I just graduated from university and am now working as a designer at a decoration company. I studied art for nine years, but in the end, to make a living, I had to give up my life as a wandering painter and choose design. Every day, I stare at a boring computer screen, creating designs according to clients' requests. It's frustrating... Damn it! When I joined this nationally renowned decoration company, the boss was drawn to my flamboyant design style. I never expected that those so-called wealthy clients wouldn't appreciate it. They actually said my designs were ruining their houses! It infuriates me! I think they're ruining my perfect designs too! But what can I do? The customer is always right. Who can blame them for being rich?

"Auntie Feifei, are my clothes dry yet?"

"No, I just washed it last night. How can it be dry today? Besides, God has been crying these past two days."

"Oh!" I replied, grabbed a random piece of clothing from the closet, and brushed my teeth and washed my face. I've never liked doing laundry, so I only think about washing clothes when I've run out of clothes to change into. But most of the time, Luo Fei does my laundry because I work during the day and sometimes bring work home. When I'm not working, I write novels. So Luo Fei often says to me, "A girl like you is truly exceptional." I usually take that as a compliment.

Another busy day. I arrived at the office at 9 o'clock sharp, not a minute late. As soon as I sat down in front of the computer, my head started to ache again. I turned it on and logged into QQ. Hehe, I often chat when I'm tired from work.

"Okay, let's get to work, but I think I should have some coffee first?" I muttered to myself as I picked up my cup and headed towards the break room. My colleagues greeted me politely with nods, smiles, and greetings. "Damn, like robots, fake humans," I thought to myself, trying to maintain a smile on my face. Exhausting!

The break room was at the end of the corridor, on the shady side, so it usually didn't get any sunlight. Even when the outside temperature was over 40 degrees Celsius, it was only 20 degrees Celsius inside, which was comfortable. But I heard from the older employees that this place wasn't clean, and that several people would die here every August and September. Who knows if it's true or not? I'm a materialist, I don't believe in these things. "Huh?? Jiang Jie, what's wrong? There are so many people in there? That shouldn't be the case, no one should be here at this time. I thought I was the first one to slack off, but I didn't finish my sentence. Oh my god~ what did I see? A headless person was standing at the window, blood had stained their dress red, and the flesh on their neck was turned outwards. My mind went blank. Instinctively, I grabbed Jiang Jie. "Quick, quick, call the police!!" I yelled. My shouts probably attracted people, as they ran over asking, "What happened?" I just pointed inside in a panic, unable to say a word. I vaguely heard a woman's voice, "They're here again, one's dead, and there's a second one..." Just then, my stomach churned, and I rushed to the bathroom. "Ugh..." All my morning's food came out. I'm a very timid person, and I was lucky I didn't faint.

Chapter 1

When I came out of the restroom, the police had already cordoned off the scene. "Ms. Zi, is this you?" I looked up and saw a very serious, but also very handsome, face. I nodded. "I'm Xiao Lin from the Major Crimes Unit. I'd like to ask you a few questions. Please cooperate." I nodded again. "Ms. Zi, are you alright? You don't look well." "You're a police officer, of course I'm not afraid. Having a headless person standing there like that is uncomfortable, even if it's a pig without a head standing in front of you. Let alone a human being! Just ask me what you want to ask, hurry up, don't delay my work." For some reason, I had a particularly bad impression of this person.

"Miss Zi, would you mind coming to the police station with me?"

"No, I still have to work. If my salary is docked, who will pay for it?"

"I'm sorry, Ms. Zi, I think you should cooperate with our work, otherwise..."

"Otherwise what? Are you going to say I'm obstructing official business?" Damn, this morning was really frustrating. Seeing such a horrible corpse, and then having this annoying policeman delay my work. Oh well, he's a cop, I can't afford to mess with him. I turned and walked towards the studio. "Ms. Zi..."

"I'll go get my bag and come with you," I interrupted him, and he followed me into the studio. As soon as we entered, Xiao Cui rushed over and grabbed my arm: "Mi'er, are you alright? You don't look well. Are you okay? I'll get you some water, you should rest for a bit..."

Before he could finish saying "It's nothing," I interrupted, "Stop being so fussy, don't you think you're a man?" He seemed taken aback by my words and remained silent for a while. I grabbed my bag and said to Xiao Lin behind me, "We can go now."

"Where to?" Xiao Cui asked me.

I ignored him and walked straight out, downstairs, into the police car. Xiao Lin didn't say a word. At the police station, he took me to the interrogation room. "I'm not a criminal, why am I in this room?" "This is routine procedure, please cooperate."

After I went inside, a policewoman brought me a glass of water. Seeing the water, my throat seemed to need some moisture, so I drank it all in one go. Then I took out a white camellia from my bag, looked up at Xiao Lin, and Xiao Lin nodded. He then took out a lighter and lit it for me.

"Miss Zi, please tell us what you saw." I recounted exactly how I saw the corpse. After I finished, Xiao Lin asked me, "How long have you been with this company?" I looked at him questioningly, "Two months. Why?"

"Oh, it's alright, you can go now. But leave your phone number, we'll contact you to verify the situation." "I'm telling the truth, what's there to verify? Besides, I wasn't the first to see it. You should ask Jiang Jie, I think she might be the first to see it." "Jiang Jie fainted and was taken to the hospital when we arrived, and she hasn't woken up yet, so we can only ask for your cooperation. Xiao Liu, please see Miss Zi out."

Leaving the police station, the sky cleared, and everything looked so pleasant and clean, yet my mood was terrible. I took out a cigarette, lit it, and pulled out my phone to call Luo Fei: "Feifei, someone died at my workplace, headless..." "Wait for me, I'm coming to your workplace right away." Before I could finish speaking, the line was already busy. I shook my head and smiled helplessly. She's a reporter at a newspaper. It seems calling her was a mistake. In a situation like this, she wouldn't care about me; she'd only care if it became news. I took a deep drag of my cigarette, stubbed it out, and threw it in the trash.

My phone rang at that moment. Without even looking at it, I answered it. Maybe Luo Fei had a change of heart. "Feifei, you heartless thing, finally you know to comfort me?" No sound. "Hello, hello, Feifei, say something..." Still no sound. Could the signal be bad on the street? Impossible, my cell phone signal is uninterrupted even in the underground parking lot. Oh well, she's coming to our company soon anyway.

I hailed a taxi and headed straight to the company. When I arrived, Feifei was already sitting at my desk. Seeing me, she rushed over at lightning speed. "Boss, I've been waiting for you forever! Why are you so late? Tell me what happened!" I shoved her. "Go to hell! I thought you'd at least comfort me a little. You didn't even answer the phone earlier. Don't you have any conscience?"

"A phone call? When did I call you?"

"Just now." "Just now? No, I was chatting with Xiao Cui the whole time."

I turned to look at Xiao Cui, and he nodded at me. "Yes, Fei Fei was talking to me the whole time."

"No way? I didn't check the number, I might have misunderstood. Who could it be?" I took out my phone and checked the caller ID, but it said: No number displayed. That's not right, I definitely have caller ID enabled. How can it not be showing up?

"Mi'er, who called?" I shook my head. "I don't know, it's not showing up. Maybe the number is hidden." Just then, Sister Huo walked over. Sister Huo is our design department manager, in her thirties, but she looks only 25 or 26. She's very easygoing and a veteran of the company, efficient in her work, so everyone respects her. But right now, she looks very nervous—no, more like uneasy, perhaps even panicked. In short, her expression is completely different from her usual self.

"Xiao Zi, you said the number didn't show up? And the call was disconnected before you could even speak?" I nodded.

"What's wrong, Sister Huo? Is there a problem?"

Sister Huo's face was now deathly pale. She looked at me with terror, as if speaking to me, yet also to herself, "It's alright, it's alright. But those girls who died last year all received calls from unknown numbers and died shortly afterward. I guess the girl who died this time might have been the same. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. It's okay, maybe it's just a coincidence." With that, she smiled apologetically and walked away. Suddenly, I felt a chill run down my spine and couldn't help but shiver.

Turning to look at Luo Fei, I saw she was also looking at me. She patted my shoulder and said, "It's okay, it's probably just a coincidence. You don't offend anyone, and besides, you're new to the company. Aside from smoking a few cigarettes, you're not someone anyone would hate so much they'd kill you. I just got the information from your colleagues, so I'm outta here. Let's go to KFC tonight. Call me after get off work." I nodded, my body feeling weak from Sister Huo's words. I struggled to sit up in my chair, my hands trembling uncontrollably. I took several tries to get the cigarettes out of my bag, but the lighter wouldn't light. Damn it, what's going on? Xiao Cui lit the lighter and handed it to me. I lit my cigarette, took a deep drag (I like this company because of its humane management style; smoking is allowed), and calmed down a bit. "Mi'er, it's okay. Seeing how scared you are, maybe it really is just a coincidence?"

"Cui, you've been here longer than me. Have you heard how those people died last year?"

"Yes, there is, but it's rather vague. Everyone in the company seems to be very wary of this kind of thing. Besides, I'm a grown man, I can't gossip about these things, can I? When you guys go to KFC tonight, take me with you, okay? It's my treat." I glared at him.

"Whatever, I'd be happy if someone invited me." Xiao Cui showed interest in me from the day I joined the company, but I didn't feel anything for him. Although he was good-looking, he seemed like a spoiled brat, carefree and insecure.

I spent the day in a daze, and didn't finish many drawings. Looks like I'll have to take them home and keep working on them tonight, otherwise I won't be able to deliver tomorrow, and my irresistibly charming boss will call me into his office for another lecture. I took out my USB drive from my bag and copied the drawings. 5:30 PM sharp, time to leave work.

As I waited for the elevator outside, Xiao Cui ran over. "Mi'er, why didn't you wait for me? Didn't we say we were going to KFC together?" "Oh, I forgot. Let's go." As we walked, I took out my phone to call Luo Fei. "Aunt Fei Fei, are you done yet? I'm off work. I'm waiting for you at the KFC near our house, and Xiao Cui too." "Oh, sorry, honey, I have to finish my manuscript. I might be late. You guys go ahead, don't wait for me." Before I could say anything, the call ended. I looked at the phone...helpless.

Looking at the hamburger and drinking the cola, the image of the headless corpse from this morning involuntarily surfaced in my mind. I lost my appetite, and my stomach started churning again. I jumped up and rushed to the restroom. Xiao Cui was calling something behind me, but I didn't have time to pay attention. The restrooms were usually packed with people, but today they were unusually quiet. Because I hadn't eaten lunch, I didn't vomit anything. As I washed my hands after leaving the restroom, I felt a pair of eyes watching me. I turned around sharply, but there was nothing there. With the horrifying image of the corpse still lingering in my mind, I quickly finished washing my hands and rushed out, returning to my seat. "What's wrong, Mi'er?"

"It's okay, let's go, I want to smoke."

"But I haven't finished eating yet, and you haven't eaten much either..."

"If you're not leaving, I'll leave by myself. You can eat."

Chapter Two

After leaving KFC, I walked towards the park on the right. It might be a hallucination, but I kept feeling like someone was watching me. Xiao Cui followed behind me, still complaining. I turned around and glared at him. "I told you to eat there; you insisted on coming out with me." "How can I leave you out alone so late?" "Damn it, it's none of your business!"

"Mi'er, you're good at everything, except you love to swear. Can you try to change that?"

"It can't be changed, and it's none of your business."

I found a stone bench, sat down, lit a cigarette, and felt much better. Cigarettes really are a good thing. I started smoking because I often stayed up all night drawing, and a classmate said cigarettes could keep me alert. After that one time, I was hooked and could never quit.

Xiao Cui sat down next to me. "Mi'er, you're acting strange today. Were you frightened this morning?"

"No, just nausea..." Before I could finish speaking, my phone rang. I took it out and looked at the caller ID. There was no number. Sister Huo's words echoed in my ears. My hand trembled, and the phone fell to the ground. Xiao Cui bent down to pick it up, but I yelled and pulled his arm away. "Don't pick it up..." Xiao Cui straightened up and looked at me, while I stared intently at the phone. It seemed to be challenging me, ringing incessantly. The once pleasant ringtone had now become a devil's call, so piercingly loud.

“Mi’er, answer it. Maybe it’s one of your friends. Maybe they have a hidden number? A lot of people use that service now.” I looked at Xiao Cui, picked up the phone with my still trembling hand, turned it on, and pressed the answer button. There was a deathly silence on the other end; not a sound. My eyes were filled with terror. I wanted to throw the phone away, but it seemed glued to my hand and I couldn’t get it off. Just then, Xiao Cui reached out and pulled me close, patting my back. “It’s okay, Mi’er, it’s okay. You were too nervous. Let me take you home. Get some rest, okay?” I nodded mechanically.

But just then, the damn phone rang again without warning.

This time, Xiao Cui picked up the phone and answered, "Hello..."

"Where's Mi'er? Who are you? How did you end up with Mi'er's phone? Where is Mi'er?" Luo Fei bombarded her with questions like a machine gun. "You brat, asking so many questions, which one should I answer first?"

"Little Cui??"

"Yes, what's wrong?"

"How could you..."

I snatched the phone away. "Feifei, where are you?"

"I'm at home. I called you because you hadn't come back yet. When are you coming back?"

"I'm going home right now, wait for me."

I hung up the phone, lit a cigarette, and took a deep drag, but the fear from before still lingered. It seemed the cigarette wouldn't help me today either. I shook my head with a wry smile. I noticed Xiao Cui's hand was still on my shoulder. I glanced at him sideways. "Trying to take advantage of me?"

"No, no, nothing. I saw you were scared, so..."

"So what? Never mind, don't tell anyone else."

What did I say?

"You're not allowed to say anything."

"Okay." He lowered his head in frustration.

"Take me home."

"oh."

"If you don't want to, then forget it."

"Who said I didn't want to?" He walked quickly to my side. Along the way, he kept telling me jokes that weren't funny. When we got to my building, he stopped. "Mi'er, do you want me to walk you up?"

"No need." After saying that, I walked into the building. I live in an old building, and the hallway lights were broken, making it pitch black. If it weren't for the fact that it's cheap here, I would never live here. Looking at the dark hallway, I turned around and shouted, "Cui, why don't you come to my place for a while?"

He walked over, and although I couldn't see his face clearly, I could feel that he was smiling. He said, "It's so late, is this convenient?"

"Enough with the nonsense. If it's inconvenient for you, don't go." A gust of cold air blew from behind, and I couldn't help but shiver. It's the month of year, why is it suddenly so cold? The more I thought about it, the more uneasy I felt. I felt those eyes staring at me again. I didn't dare to turn around. I knew that even if I did, it was too dark to see anything. I grabbed Xiao Cui's clothes. "I'll go first, you walk behind me."

He obediently walked behind me, talking to me as we went upstairs, but I was so terrified that I didn't pay attention to what he was saying. It felt like an eternity before we finally reached the fourth floor where I lived. As soon as I got to the door, I heard music coming from inside. I opened the door and went in. Luo Fei wasn't in the living room, but her voice came from the kitchen: "Mi'er, I haven't eaten yet. I'll cook something for you, and I'll cook you something too, as a midnight snack."

"Cook more, Xiao Cui is coming over."

"Huh??" Luo Fei ran out of the kitchen, looked at me and then at Xiao Cui with disbelief, gave a mischievous smile, and turned to go back into the kitchen. Xiao Cui chuckled foolishly.

"What are you laughing at? Did someone tickle your funny bone?"

"No, can't I even laugh at your house? Mi'er, can't you be less harsh?"

"Neuropathy……."

The phone rang at that moment. Since it wasn't my cell phone, I picked it up without thinking. "Hello, who is it?"

“……………”

"Speak up, who are you looking for?"

"...Click, click, click..." The sound of high heels came through the phone.

"Hello, who are you???" I screamed, almost hysterically. I threw down the phone, clutched my head, and slid off the sofa to the floor. My body was trembling uncontrollably.

Luo Fei ran out of the kitchen, picked up the phone, and asked, "Who is this?" The other person had probably already hung up. Luo Fei squatted down in front of me, grabbed my shoulders, and shook me vigorously. "Mi'er, what's wrong? Calm down. Is someone harassing you? Or did you get another call without a sound?" Xiao Cui brought over a glass of water and gently patted my head. "Mi'er, drink some water. It's okay. No matter what happens, I'm here for you. Don't worry. If it gets too bad, we'll go to the police. The police can check the call records at the telecom company, okay?"

"Give me a cigarette..." Xiao Cui lit the cigarette for me. My hand was trembling as I held it. I watched the smoke rings rise and rise, my mind went blank, and my eyes were tired.

Luo Fei and Xiao Cui were still trying to comfort me, but I couldn't hear them clearly. I stubbed out my cigarette in the ashtray, struggled to stand up, and said, "I'm so tired, I'm going to sleep." Then I walked towards my room, lay down on the bed without even taking off my clothes.

Chapter Three

I don't know how long I slept, but when I heard the door open, I knew it was Luo Fei, so I didn't open my eyes. Luo Fei walked to my bedside, and I groggily asked, "Is Xiao Cui gone?" But after waiting a while, seeing that Luo Fei didn't respond, I reluctantly opened my eyes. Because the light was off, it was very dark, so I could only see Luo Fei's general outline. She stood in front of my bed with her head down, her long black hair hanging down. Suddenly, her body disappeared—only her head remained. I opened my eyes wide in horror, then squeezed them shut, rubbed them, and opened them again. No, it wasn't a hallucination; Luo Fei's body was really gone, and blood was still dripping from her neck. And her head was slowly floating towards me, getting closer and closer. "Ah!!!!!!!!!!" I sat up abruptly. The room was still my room, but there was no bleeding head. It was just a dream. "Thump..." The door was kicked open, and Luo Fei ran in, turning on the light. "What's wrong, Mi'er?"

"Feifei, I had a nightmare, it was so scary..." I said weakly, picking up my phone. It was 10:15 PM. "What nightmare?" Luo Fei sat down next to me and took my hand. "Mi'er, are you under too much pressure today? You've never been like this before. Actually, some things are just your own mind playing tricks on you. Just don't think about it. Why don't you take tomorrow off and rest for a day?"

"I'm fine, I'll be done in a bit, besides, I have things to do tomorrow..." Suddenly remembering that I hadn't finished my drawing, I slapped my forehead. "Feifei, you go to sleep first, I need to finish my drawing..." Saying that, I turned on my computer and habitually logged onto QQ first. As soon as I logged on, the little avatar kept flashing. After replying to everyone, I started working. At this moment, a little penguin in the strangers' list was flashing surrender. After clicking on it, a line of text appeared: "Don't touch my man... or you'll be next..."

"Who are you?"

"Don't touch my man... or you'll be next..."
