"I can't bring myself to eat it..." He put down his chopsticks, deciding not to eat anymore.
Shen Moyu looked up at Chen Hang across from her, who was eating with abandon, and couldn't imagine how he managed to swallow sand and hair.
"Want some of mine? I have a chicken leg." Su Jinning didn't look up at him, pushed her portion over, and then added, afraid he wouldn't eat it, "I haven't touched it."
Chen Hang initially showed no interest in their conversation, but upon hearing that Su Jinning was going to give the food to Shen Moyu, he immediately stopped eating.
He hadn't even sucked the dried tofu slice into his mouth yet; half of it was still lingering there. He stared blankly at Su Jinning and Shen Moyu, as if looking at two rare animals he'd never seen before: "Seriously, Ning-ge? You're so nice to the top student! Why don't you offer me one?"
"Shut up." Su Jinning glared at him.
"No, I can't eat." Shen Moyu pushed his plate back as well. It wasn't that he didn't want to eat, but perhaps because of the recent low blood sugar spike, plus the food itself, he felt nauseous. And…
He looked at a classmate holding a seaweed rice roll; he hadn't had one in a long time and couldn't help but feel a little hungry.
But I'm too lazy to buy it, and it would cost me an extra penny, so I'll just forget about it.
Su Jinning felt rejected, and with a slightly displeased expression, she pulled the plate back: "Fine, don't eat it then." Then she slammed the chicken leg onto Chen Hang's plate and started scrolling through her phone again.
"Hey Ning, that's not fair! You're giving me what others don't want?" Chen Hang was a little dissatisfied; the difference in treatment was too great.
"Do you want to eat?" Su Jinning's words were a question, but her tone was affirmative.
Chen Hang pursed his lips and put the chicken leg into his mouth.
Shen Moyu didn't say much, and took out his phone to look at the school forum. Although it was useless and mostly contained gossip, he wasn't interested, but he could still pass the time by looking at it occasionally.
Now Chen Hang was the slowest eater. He said, somewhat speechlessly, "Hey, I'm telling you, you two are wasting food, it's shameful!"
"Go ahead and eat it if you dare!"
"Go ahead and eat it if you dare!"
The two spoke in unison, their eyes filled with the same disdain.
Chen Hang pursed his lips, utterly speechless. "Eat more, talk less." His mother's words were etched in his mind.
"Senior, can I add you on WeChat?"
Just as the atmosphere was quiet, a gentle female voice came from behind them.
Su Jinning turned around and saw a girl with a small bun hairstyle and wearing a school uniform standing behind her. She was smiling and had pretty features, but she looked a little nervous, which made her face look stiff.
"Wow, Ning-ge, you're always getting a lot of attention from the ladies!" Chen Hang said, stuffing the last bite of rice into his mouth, not forgetting to tease Su Jinning.
Shen Moyu's finger, which was tapping the screen, paused as he spoke, her eyelashes fluttering twice inadvertently, before she continued scrolling to the next message.
Su Jinning kicked Chen Hang's chair, signaling that he would be dead if he spoke again. Chen Hang knew he was in deep trouble, so he quickly understood and fell silent.
Su Jinning turned to look at the girl, then pointed to himself. Seeing the girl nod, his gaze inadvertently swept over Shen Moyu, who was still scrolling through her phone, seemingly oblivious to the world around her.
"Are cell phones that fun?" Su Jinning leaned back in her chair, her tone becoming serious.
Shen Moyu turned to look at him, a little confused, as if asking, "Are you talking about me?" He asked, "What's wrong?" and then subconsciously put his phone away.
Su Jinning didn't say anything, he kept playing with his phone in his hand, ignoring the girl behind him.
Shen Moyu was puzzled and was about to look down at his phone again when he heard the girl behind him call his name: "Senior Moyu?"
When Shen Moyu heard someone call his name, he turned around reflexively, and Su Jinning turned around at the same time.
"It's you?" Shen Moyu's eyes widened slightly as he looked at the girl in front of him.
"It's me! So you're here at this school too, senior?" The girl's tense expression finally relaxed when she saw that it was someone she knew, and she looked much more pleasing to the eye.
Chen Hang continued wiping his mouth, a little confused, and asked, "You two know each other?"
The girl played along, smiling as she replied, "Yes, I used to go to the same school as Senior Mo Yu!"
Chen Hang said "Oh," feeling a bit thirsty, and stood up, saying, "You guys chat, I'll go buy some water." He then left his seat.
Shen Moyu looked at the girl, scratched his head and chuckled awkwardly. He immediately felt the atmosphere was awkward. He hated suddenly running into acquaintances. First, he didn't know what to say, and second, he inexplicably felt there was nothing to say.
"Very familiar?" Su Jinning raised an eyebrow with a smile. The curve of her lips was like the tip of a sharp knife, seemingly friendly, but actually chilling.
The girl blushed instantly upon hearing Su Jinning speak, and quickly smiled, "Senior Moyu has helped me a lot! We are very good friends." After she finished speaking, she smiled at Shen Moyu, handed him the seaweed rice rolls she had just bought, and said considerately, "Is the food not to your liking, Senior? If you don't mind, you can have this?"
Shen Mo looked closely.
Holy crap!
He sighed inwardly. His stomach, which had been starving for a long time, seemed to have caught its scent and eagerly rumbled.
He really wanted to eat this! His completely lacking appetite suddenly perked up.
Shen Moyu couldn't help but feel happy, and a smile appeared on his lips.
"Oh, yes, thank you." Shen Moyu accepted the rice ball, intending to eat it when she got back.
"No need to thank me, hahaha!" The girl laughed sweetly and seemed kind. She turned slightly to look at Su Jinning's untouched plate: "Senior, don't you like it either? I have another serving, how about..."
"No need." Su Jinning interrupted her, glancing at the seaweed rice roll in Shen Moyu's hand: "I'm just not hungry."
"A very good friend." He pondered these words.
It was really good, so good that I wouldn't eat the chicken leg I was offered, but instead ate the seaweed rice rolls that the girl offered.
Was it because my chicken leg wasn't tasty? Or was her seaweed rice roll inlaid with gold?
