С нетерпением жду весеннего ветерка! - Глава 97
If Li Changsheng can't even handle this small matter, all his childhood hardships have been for naught.
When his lies were exposed, he relentlessly pursued the charge of harming animals. Changsheng coldly looked down at him—yes, looked down.
The amusement park manager was quite interesting; the zookeepers in several animal enclosures all seemed to conform to the natural law of 'heaven, earth, and man'. The bear enclosure's zookeeper was burly and strong, the snake enclosure's zookeeper was tall and thin, and the monkey enclosure's zookeeper... Changsheng sized him up, thinking that with a little fur, he could play the Monkey King.
He had a height advantage. Changsheng was already strong and imposing, and his deliberately feigned fierceness did not instill fear in his opponents.
He raised a cold brow and stared intently, exuding an air of dominance: "The rules? Where are the rules? Show them to me."
The other party stammered, "Yes, yes, we do! We have rules and regulations!"
He sneered and raised an eyebrow: "Let me see it."
The other person took a step back, feeling guilty: "Why should I show it to you?"
Xia Lin, quick to speak, interrupted with a mocking remark: "Hey, are you stupid? They want a fine, but they won't show you the written rules. Who would complain about having too much money?"
Changsheng, working in perfect harmony, said, "Go find their leader. The monkey injured someone and instead of offering compensation, they're making people compensate the monkey? If it had really hurt someone, we wouldn't have said a word. But the monkey looks so lively; it's probably even older than you, isn't it?" He mocked the administrator.
The monkey that had just been hit managed to snatch a piece of corn, which it held and hid in a corner, happily munching on it, oblivious to the humans fighting over it.
The administrator was at a loss, and fearing they might actually go to the principal, he gritted his teeth and threatened, "You just wait!"
Chang Sheng chuckled and said to Xia Lin, "The villain's exit is always accompanied by a threat. It's a pity he said it so weakly. Come on, say something polite and powerful for your sister!"
Xia Lin obeyed without question, then put on a fierce expression: "The green hills remain unchanged, and the clear waters flow on forever. My friend, we shall meet again someday!"
Shanglin couldn't help but chuckle, then scolded playfully, "Still trying to be silly? You almost got disfigured just now!"
Ji Yunwen clenched his fists, remaining silent. An invisible wall seemed to separate them. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't break through this barrier. He didn't understand. Qiu Shanglin clearly liked him, so why did she smile more naturally and joyfully when she was with Li Changsheng?
Knife fight
Despite the unpleasant start, it didn't dampen their spirits. Shang Lin wanted to go to the hospital to check on Xia Lin's injury as soon as possible, but Xia Lin didn't care and refused to leave. The four of them wandered around, trying out all the amusement rides. And that wasn't all. For thrilling rides like the Ferris wheel and roller coaster, Qiu Xia Lin dragged Chang Sheng around again and again, thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Fortunately, there were few tourists, so there was no need to queue.
Even so, eventually the employee in charge of starting up couldn't take it anymore and ran out of the control room to beg them not to sit down anymore, and the two of them left reluctantly.
It was already dark when they came out of the amusement park, and there were no more buses going back. Shang Lin owned three apartments in the most upscale newly developed residential area in Huaiqiao City, but he didn't want to show off in front of Ji Yunwen. Fortunately, Chang Sheng's parents were considerate of him. Two years ago, they specially returned to Huaiqiao City and bought a two-bedroom apartment in the city center for him and his grandfather to live in. Usually, no one lived there; his grandfather would occasionally come back to the city to visit friends for a day or two. Chang Sheng had the key, so they suggested he stay there tonight and go to the bookstore to buy books first thing tomorrow morning before going home.
Zhang Hongwei was very worried when he heard that they planned to stay in the city. He ordered a car to pick them up, but Qiu Xialin couldn't wait to leave home and enjoy herself. She repeatedly said on the phone that it wasn't necessary and hung up before her sister could take her. Zhang Hongwei held the phone for a long time, feeling depressed. Then he remembered that his daughter had dared to go to the city alone when she was seven or eight years old, and within a few years she knew Shanghai better than she did. Only then did he feel relieved.
With Xia Lin and Chang Sheng both present, there shouldn't be any problems.
After grabbing a quick bite at a food stall, the four exhausted men arrived at Changsheng's house, where they chatted while watching TV. Initially, the atmosphere was quite pleasant, with the three boys laughing and talking.
They were watching a sports program. Shang Lin wasn't very interested and was watching in a daze when she suddenly felt someone hold her hand. When she came to her senses, she saw Ji Yunwen staring intently at the TV, but he had secretly pulled her hand.
Shang Lin pursed his lips, finding this kind of 'affair' quite exciting. He remained silent and pretended to watch TV with a serious expression.
The two of them were having a great time, playing around with each other, unaware that they had angered Qiu Xialin.
Finding sitting too tiring, and ignoring her sister's lazy sarcasm, she lay half-reclined on the floor watching TV. Just as she was about to turn around and grab some fruit from the coffee table, she caught sight of their 'affair'.
Chang Sheng was completely unaware. Ji Yunwen had even been seriously discussing technical fouls in basketball with him, but now, his anger flared, and he coldly snorted, speaking in a sarcastic tone:
"Ugh, my hand hurts so much..." he said, glancing at his sister.
Upon hearing this, Shanglin asked anxiously, "Does it hurt? Is it broken? I told you I was going to get a tetanus shot. What if it gets infected after being scratched by a wild animal!"
Xia Lin blew on her hair: "It didn't hurt too much—I was just thinking about how brilliant my brother was today, scaring away that little monkey with just a few words... Unlike some people, who are too straightforward and reckless..."
Ji Yunwen's face darkened: "Who are you talking about!"
Xia Lin pouted: "I said it's funny to talk about outsiders, but I didn't name names!"
"You caused this trouble, and I helped you clean it up. Instead of thanking me, you're blaming me?" Ji Yunwen was full of grievances. Wasn't my insistence on standing up for you the reason?
Xia Lin grinned and gave a disdainful smile: "Come on, I can't accept that—besides, neither my brother nor my sister said anything, who do you think you are? I should be thanking God!"
Ji Yunwen stood up abruptly, looking down at him: "You!"
Pointing at Xia Lin, he was so angry he couldn't speak.
Shanglin was completely bewildered. They were just having a good time a moment ago, how did they end up arguing again? This wasn't the first time the two of them had clashed, so Shanglin assumed they just didn't get along and tried to mediate: "Alright, alright, let's watch TV. Xialin, you should say less!"
Before Ji Yunwen's smug expression could even register, she added, "Yunwen, you were wrong too. If a fight had actually broken out in that situation today, it would have been clear that we were in the wrong. Luckily, Changsheng stopped you, otherwise it would have been a huge mess." Her intention was good; she hoped Ji Yunwen would learn from her mistake.
Qiu Shanglin was, after all, a woman. She didn't understand men's psychology, especially the desire of teenage boys to be superheroes in front of the girls they liked.
Ji Yunwen was already furious, and when he listened to her lecture, saw Xia Lin's smug expression, and Li Changsheng's seemingly indifferent but actually mocking gaze, his fragile young heart was severely damaged.
It's one thing for others, but even you don't believe me, even you despise me!
The three of you grew up together as childhood sweethearts, and I'm the only one who's superfluous!
I gritted my teeth, knowing there was no point in saying more, and left!
He turned around, slammed the door shut, and left.
Shanglin was dumbfounded.
What's going on? I didn't say anything to him. I wasn't sarcastic or mean; I was practically speaking very earnestly. He's angry? Why is he angry? Who is he angry at?
The silent question elicited a response from Xia Lin, who stuck out her tongue, while Chang Sheng shrugged in bewilderment.
It was getting late, and he was just a child, unfamiliar with the roads nearby. Shanglin had no choice but to put on his coat and go find him.
As Shang Lin stepped out, Chang Sheng also stood up. Xia Lin grabbed him and dissuaded him, "Brother, don't interfere. You don't know, that pretty boy just secretly grabbed my sister's hand. Tell him to leave. I hate him!"
Changsheng glared at him: "You drove him away because of this?"
Xia Lin nodded, a little confused. Why does it seem like my brother is unhappy?
Chang Sheng, exasperated, glared at him fiercely: "You chased him away, but what about your sister?"
Xia Lin was even more confused, then realized. "Yes, I chased Ji Yunwen away, and my sister left with him. A dark and windy night, a lone man and woman..." She quickly pushed him, "Go quickly, don't let that pretty boy take advantage of my sister!"
The residential building was located in a somewhat remote area, surrounded by houses with few vehicles passing by. The neighborhood was quiet, with only a few figures loitering around the building.
One of them was none other than the monkey mountain's caretaker.
I was frustrated today and the more I thought about it, the angrier I got. I gathered a bunch of my buddies to get revenge. We followed them from the amusement park all the way to the neighborhood. There were people on the way, so we didn't have a chance to strike. I planned to deal with them once we got into the neighborhood, but then something went wrong with the people we were tracking. They lost sight of us and disappeared.
I only know it's in this residential complex, but I can't pinpoint the exact building.
Monkey was unwilling to leave empty-handed, so he wandered around the neighborhood for quite a while, hoping to run into them. Just as the group of guys were getting impatient and were about to return empty-handed, they saw someone run out of a building.
He looked closely and, lo and behold, it was the hothead who wanted to make a move today!
Just as he was about to attach it, another one ran out of the building. Monkey was delighted; good, it was a little girl!
With a wave of his hand, he quietly followed behind the two, waiting for a secluded place before unleashing his killing spree, robbing the rich to help the poor!
Why should you be able to spend fifty yuan just to see monkeys, while I earn a pitiful salary every month and have to hesitate for ages before even ordering a plate of pig's head!
Shang Lin and Ji Yunwen were unaware that they were being watched. Ji Yunwen hurried on his way, while Shang Lin jogged, barely keeping up with his pace, panting heavily.
What's wrong with you?
He remained silent.
