Blumen pflücken und lächeln - Kapitel 5

Kapitel 5

"Young Master! Hold on!" The man in blue casually brushed aside the longsword in front of him, gently tossed me in an arc, and carried me steadily on his back. Before I could even wrap my arms around his neck, a murderous aura washed over me from behind. The man in blue suddenly spun around, deflecting the longsword aimed at me. His own arm and chest were both stained red, his blue robes already turned purplish-black. He ignored everything, focusing only on protecting me, and rushed off in one direction.

I stumbled and fell onto his back. The blazing sun burned my skin, but his back was so cool and comforting. I was in so much pain, my whole body ached as if it weren't my own. My consciousness drifted away inch by inch, and my hands and feet grew colder and colder.

I wondered, was this a dream? Why was my dream so vivid? So vivid I could even smell the blood, so vivid I could feel death drawing ever closer. But oh well… it was just a dream anyway. Dying was for the best…

"Young master! Young master! Please hold on! Madam will definitely save you!" His voice was clearly cold, yet I seemed to hear boundless fear and pleading within it. The longsword slashed at him, but he only cared about charging forward. A spear pierced his foot, but he didn't care, staggering slightly but still continuing forward.

A surge of warmth welled up within me. He was covered in wounds, his face drained of color, yet his entire being was focused on me. For some reason, my hazy consciousness suddenly returned. Even if it was a dream, I couldn't selfishly drift off to sleep, especially when someone was still fighting tooth and nail for me.

I tightened my grip on his neck, remaining silent. He suddenly perked up, his dark eyes gleaming with an emerald light, like starlight in the night. The cyan blade in his hand suddenly burst forth with dazzling cyan light, its shadow whistling past, carving a path through the air.

Without pausing, he gripped his sword in one hand and steadied me behind him with the other, leaping several times and bursting through the crowd. I vaguely knew we might be out of danger, or perhaps not.

But I'm so tired, so tired that even knowing it's a dream, my dream can't control it. I hear the anxious voice of a man in blue calling me—"Young Master!" Ha! Why am I the Young Master in my dream? Behind me, the thunderous footsteps seem to shatter the earth, and shouts of pursuit echo…

I heard the man in blue speak softly in my ear, his voice exceptionally calm and serene yet carrying a hint of resolute determination, but I couldn't make it out clearly. I only vaguely heard: "...to live and die together..."

Finally, a beautiful yet extremely mournful female voice came from afar, calling out: "Lin Yu—!!"

I think I must be crazy to have such a dream.

While fast asleep, I suddenly felt a tearing pain in my head, as if someone had stuffed straw and paste into it, leaving me completely disoriented. Damn it! I cursed under my breath, thinking: I had a painful dream just now, why does it still hurt now that I'm awake?

I had barely opened my eyes when a pink figure suddenly pounced into my arms.

"Husband!!" The woman in pink hugged me tightly, her tears soaking my white clothes. She sobbed, her voice choked with emotion, "Waaah... Husband, thank goodness you woke up, otherwise Yunyan would definitely have gone with you!"

What... my husband? What? She went with you? I rubbed my temples hard, looking with difficulty at the tear-streaked face of the woman in my arms, and couldn't help but gasp.

Wow...so beautiful! Look at that skin, as smooth as jade, those full, moist red lips, that velvety white neck, and those dark green eyes with long, thick eyelashes fluttering in the wind. What does it mean to be a beauty of unparalleled grace? What does it mean to have a face as beautiful as a lotus and eyebrows as delicate as willow leaves? I've seen it all today.

But why does she call me husband? Could it be that the dream that feels so distant is still not over?

"Lin Yu, how are you feeling?" A deep, resonant voice reached my ears. I looked up blankly and saw a dignified, square face. Beneath thick, dark eyebrows, a pair of deep blue eyes were looking at me with concern. The voice asked with care, "Are you still feeling unwell? I will immediately order the imperial physician to come and treat you!"

"No need!" Upon hearing this, the woman in my arms quickly straightened up and bowed, saying, "Your Majesty need not worry. I have just been diagnosed, and my husband is fine now. It's just that the residual poison has just been cleared, so he inevitably suffers from headaches and weakness."

Your Majesty—?! Heavens?! What on earth happened? I was sleeping in Xu Lie's arms last night, and when I woke up I found myself covered in wounds on the battlefield. Now, in the blink of an eye, I'm in this strange and unfamiliar place?

I rubbed my head and looked around. Paper window frames, mahogany window lattices, dark red sandalwood tables, carved pillars. This…this is clearly ancient architecture. Could it be…could I have actually traveled through time? No! That's unlikely! It's more likely I'm dreaming, yes, dreaming! But…sob…how can a dream be so vivid? From the battlefield to the bedroom, even the pain feels real!

My face paled instantly, and I moved my gaze inch by inch with difficulty, from the people standing beside the bed to the glass mirror on the dressing table diagonally opposite the bed, and couldn't help but scream in horror.

I could clearly see the person in the mirror: azure eyes, a scholar's topknot, and a clean but slightly wrinkled ancient men's robe. Although his face was extremely handsome, his slanted eyebrows, broad shoulders, and... his Adam's apple bobbing up and down, made him look every bit the man.

"Husband—!!" The woman in pink hugged me tightly, her face filled with alarm, and cried out anxiously, "Husband, are you alright?"

Husband! Now I finally understand what a husband truly means. God! You have to be so cruel! All I did was secretly love a man who already had a girlfriend for three years, then, through a series of mishaps, I married him, tearing apart a bunch of couples, and causing an innocent person to lie unconscious in the hospital while trying to save me, while I secretly rejoiced at being able to be alone with that man. That's all the crime I committed. Was it really necessary to punish me by sending me to this unfamiliar time and place? Time travel is bad enough, but to be reborn into a man's body is even worse! Being reborn into a man's body is bad enough (I only do BL), but oh my god! Why did I have to be reborn into a man who already has a wife?!

"Lin Yu—" The man who had just been called Emperor called my name with concern, his worry and shame genuine. He turned to the woman in pink, his tone already somewhat stern: "I know that Lady Qin is a highly skilled physician, but as the saying goes, one person's skill is limited, but two people's skill is greater. Lin Yu's condition is not optimistic. Perhaps we should have the imperial physicians come in and examine him?"

The panic in the pink-clad woman's eyes flashed by, but she murmured, "Since Your Majesty says so, I naturally dare not presume. Then please, Your Majesty, summon the imperial physicians."

Chapter 4 The Young Prime Minister

The panic in the pink-clad woman's eyes flashed by, but she murmured, "Since Your Majesty says so, I naturally dare not presume. Then please, Your Majesty, summon the imperial physicians."

As she spoke, she turned around and glared at me fiercely, blocking the emperor's view with her shoulder and back, and mouthed through gritted teeth, "Are you looking for death? Hurry up and refuse!"

For some reason, I inexplicably felt that this woman wouldn't harm me. Besides, given my headache and dizziness, I really didn't want to stay in front of so many people any longer. So, I weakly rubbed my head and said to the emperor, "Your Majesty, I just woke up and have a bit of a headache. It's nothing serious. Let me rest for a bit." My voice was clear and pleasant, both male and female, clearly the kind of voice one hears on the battlefield.

"Hmph! The Xuanzong sect dared to intercept and kill you, Lin Yu! They are utterly ungrateful! I will definitely seek justice from the Shuiwu Kingdom." After saying this, seeing my blank expression, he paused slightly, then said with concern, "Lin Yu, why did you go to the Xiangxi border? Fortunately, Guard Feng risked his life to save you this time, otherwise, I would have been heartbroken!"

"Thank you for your concern, Your Majesty, I..." Suddenly, I felt a slight numbness in my hand, followed by a sharp pain in my head. I groaned, clutching my head, my expression one of extreme pain, cold sweat pouring down my face.

The woman in pink quickly supported me and said, "Your Majesty, my husband's body still has residual poison, and he may not be able to think clearly for the time being."

Actually, the pain subsided after a while, but hearing her say that, I immediately pretended to be in pain. Stealing a glance, I noticed a flash of displeasure in the emperor's eyes, which he quickly concealed, and said gently, "In that case, Lin Yu, you should rest well. I will arrange for someone to take over the affairs of the court, so you don't need to worry about them. I will come to see you again later."

I nodded blankly until the emperor and his entourage had walked away. Only then did I realize that there were only four people left in the room. Besides the woman in pink, I looked at each person. The first person I saw was a kind-looking old man, but the shrewdness in his eyes sent a chill down my spine; this man was definitely not simple. Next was a young woman with a haggard face but a cheerful smile. Judging from her attire, she seemed to be a maid, but her demeanor was casual, without a trace of servile restraint. Her face was naturally not as striking as the woman in pink's, but it was still clever and endearing.

When my gaze fell upon the last person, I couldn't help but shudder. A figure in a blue robe, a handsome face devoid of expression, suddenly appeared before my eyes. A tall, slender frame, a healthy wheat-colored complexion, sharply defined eyebrows, a high-bridged nose, thin but tightly pressed lips, and a pair of dark eyes that occasionally flashed with a deep green. Although I hadn't been able to see him clearly at the time, I was certain that he was the man who had risked his life to protect me on the battlefield. However, he possessed an aloof, unassuming air about him. Therefore, despite scanning him for so long, I hadn't noticed his unique presence.

Suddenly, I realized that all four of their eyes were fixed on me, their gazes filled with worry, anger, and regret, leaving me somewhat at a loss. The woman in pink, who had been so gentle and refined in front of the emperor, suddenly raised her fan and slammed it heavily on my head, gritting her teeth and cursing, "I told you long ago that you couldn't trust that guy surnamed Fan, yet you still went and jumped into his trap. If Yihan hadn't rushed over out of concern, you'd probably still be here staring at me like this."

I blinked, my gaze sweeping over the area and landing on the man in blue. Yi Han? Is that him?

He lowered his head and said calmly, "It's good that you're alright, young master."

“Lin Yu, you…” Seeing that I showed no remorse, the woman in pink grew even angrier. She sat down next to me, her face flushed, and continued her tirade, “You’re hailed as the most feared young prime minister of the Ishu Continent, possessing extraordinary talent and the power to turn the world upside down, yet you’re so stupid! Who is Fan Zhong? He’s the Imperial Censor of the Fire Feather Kingdom! The Fire Feather Kingdom has always been at odds with our Golden Radiance Kingdom, and you, as the prime minister of the Golden Radiance Kingdom, second only to the emperor, were lured away by a single secret letter, all while keeping it a secret from all of us. Do you even know…”

At this point, the woman in pink's eyes reddened, as if she had remembered something, her face filled with horror and sorrow: "Do you know how worried I was when I saw you dying in Yihan's arms? Do you know how scared I was when your life completely stopped? Lin Yu, have you forgotten? When you were twelve, you promised me that you would never joke with your own life, that you would always, always be with Yunyan!"

For some reason, looking at the woman's sorrowful face, my heart ached. I slowly reached out and wiped away her tears, murmuring, "I'm sorry, Yunyan! It will never happen again." Then I was suddenly startled. This… I felt like I was possessed, as if someone was controlling my will. This was too eerie!

"Alright!" The woman in pink smiled through her tears. "The person you should thank most this time is Yi Han. If he hadn't rushed into the chaos of the Fire Feather Kingdom's army to rescue you, you would have suffered greatly, even if you hadn't died from the poison. When I arrived, you were on the verge of death, but Yi Han's injuries were certainly no less severe than yours. Also, why were you led to the Fire Feather Kingdom by Fan Chong? What was written in that secret letter?"

I frowned deeply, and finally had to resort to the most old-fashioned but most effective method. I tapped my head and said painfully, "Yunyan, I don't know why, but after waking up this time, I can't remember anything."
