Chapitre 43

Zhou Mingqian thought to himself that having two assistants in the future wouldn't be bad.

He opened the office door and let them in.

Zhou Mingqian hadn't taken two steps when he turned back and handed the script in his hand to his assistant: "Make a copy for me. The original, along with the other scripts, will be sent to Mr. Yue later."

Assistant: "I can just print it out."

Zhou Mingqian casually said, "There's no electronic version." That woman Xi Jia is so arrogant, she won't even give us an electronic version.

The assistant paused for half a second, then took it and went to the copy room.

Zhou Mingqian wasn't good at chatting with people, and he didn't have any trivial matters to assign to this assistant for the time being, so he asked, "Is your name Yu An?"

Yu An nodded, "Yu as in 'the rest of my life,' and An as in 'peace and stability.'"

Zhou Mingqian: "Nice name, may your life be peaceful." Bored, he asked again, "Where are you from?" He didn't sound like a northerner.

Yu An: "The world is my home."

Zhou Mingqian frowned.

Yu An: "I grew up in an orphanage."

Zhou Mingqian glanced at Yu An; the smile on her lips was quite warm. He hadn't wanted to hire a female assistant before, to avoid all the messy things that might happen.

The Yu An before me looks like a child.

His eyes were exceptionally pure.

"The job of an assistant can be both easy and tiring. When working on a film set, you basically work day and night."

Yu An: "I'm fine with it. I've looked into it. Anyway, I'm all alone, so I have nothing to worry about. I can film outside all year round without any problems."

She longed for this job.

He has a high income, and I've heard that Zhou Mingqian treats his subordinates well. Although he has a big temper, he is also very humane.

She came for an assistant interview because she was recommended by her former manager.

When I resigned, the manager refused to approve it.

But she insisted on leaving the company after a month.

Her ex-boyfriend introduced her to that job, but now that they've broken up, she doesn't want to have any connection with him.

Seeing that there was no hope of retaining her, and not wanting her to be heartbroken and unemployed, the manager recommended her for the assistant job. She didn't have any special skills or particularly good speaking abilities.

The manager said that Zhou Mingqian was very powerful, and even if she had to socialize with him, no one would force Zhou Mingqian's subordinates to drink alcohol.

Zhou Mingqian had already decided to hire this assistant; she was obedient and didn't have many tricks up her sleeve. "You can start work after New Year's Day."

Yu An gratefully thanked her. Instead of rushing home, she went to the copy room to help the assistant.

Zhou Mingqian took a cigarette, walked to the window, and opened it.

The parking lot downstairs.

The woman hadn't left yet; she was on the phone.

A dark green skirt, a white coat. Even the most beautiful scenery couldn't compare.

Xi Jia was on the phone with Mo Yushen, who had already left the company. For the past month, unless he was on a business trip, he had basically been home for meals.

The medication Xi Jia is taking has particularly noticeable side effects on her. She has an upset stomach and a cough. She has no appetite at all now.

She would barely eat anything when he was with her.

"By the way, honey, you haven't asked me about my meeting with Zhou Mingqian yet."

"Hmm. What's going on?"

"There's an 80% chance."

"Isn't there still a 20% chance of losing?"

Xi Jia: "..."

Mo Yushen also felt that he had said it all, "What I mean is, you should be mentally prepared for all sorts of things."

"Where are we?" he changed the subject.

Xi Jia took out her car keys. "I'll go back now."

After hanging up the phone, Mo Yushen looked at the snow that hadn't melted yet by the roadside, which glittered in the sunlight.

If Xi Jia is selected, she will be in the same production team as Jiang Qin.

Mo Yushen sent Cheng Weimo a message: "Ask Jiang Qin when she's free to have dinner together."

Cheng Weimo couldn't believe that Mo Yushen would take the initiative to seek peace; it was no easy feat.

He contacted Jiang Qin yesterday. She is in Beijing and said she needs to take some time to adjust before filming her next drama.

No problem, I'll call you once the time is set.

Mo Yushen: [Let's go to the restaurant that Ji Qingshi opened.]

Xi Jia and Mo Yushen arrived home around the same time. Xi Jia parked her car at the gate of the courtyard and waited until Mo Yushen's car slowly drove in before following closely behind.

Even if she gets home a minute late, she still enjoys playing with it immensely.

Xi Jia caught up with Mo Yushen in a few steps and walked into the house with him.

"Don't you get tired of running back and forth every day?"

Mo Yushen: "I've gotten used to it over the years."

He told Xi Jia that he had been eating at home every day for lunch for years because he couldn't get used to the food in the company cafeteria.

The chef has prepared the meal, which should be light and simple.

When Xi Jia was taking Chinese medicine, she craved spicy and pungent foods but couldn't eat them. Now that she doesn't have to avoid certain foods, she has no appetite at all.

"You've been taking the medication for almost six weeks, haven't you?" Mo Yushen asked.

Xi Jia: "Yes, today is exactly 42 days."

Mo Yushen looked at the little bit of rice left in her bowl and decided, "I won't eat anymore after I finish this today."

Xi Jia paused slightly with her chopsticks, picked up a few grains of rice and put them in her mouth. "I won't change the medication. I don't take hormones."

Taking hormones will make you gain weight and become less attractive.

She couldn't stand herself becoming like that.

Mo Yushen: "We don't take hormones." He didn't even realize that his tone sounded a bit like he was coaxing a child.

He looked at her and said, "Stop for a while. You can't keep eating like this; your stomach can't handle it."

Xi Jia nodded, "That's fine."

Mo Yushen not only came back at noon to have lunch with Xi Jia, but also took a nap with her. He didn't sleep; he worked at his desk.

With him there, Xi Jia felt more at ease.

Xi Jia had been busy rushing to finish the script, working more than ten hours a day for a month and a half. During that time, she could even sleep soundly during her afternoon nap.

I had some free time today, and I wasn't so sleepy.

"Still not asleep?" Mo Yushen asked.

Xi Jia turned over, not sleepy.

She got up and found her notebook.

"Want to see it again?"

"No, write down what happened when I went to Xinglan to see Zhou Mingqian this morning."

Mo Yushen sent an email and closed the page.

"Don't you write it down at night?"

Xi Jia: "Anyway, I have nothing to do now, and I can relax a bit in the evening."

Mo Yushen looked at her thoughtfully and reached out to take the notebook from her.

Xi Jia thought he wanted to check something, but instead he took out paper and pen from the pen holder.

Xi Jia was completely confused. "What are you going to do?"

Mo Yushen said, "You tell me, I'll write it down." He gestured for Xi Jia to lie down on the bed and rest.

Not having to write anything suited Xi Jia perfectly.

Xi Jia lay down, closed her eyes, and while trying to fall asleep, told Mo Yushen all the little details of her trip to Xinglan that morning.

Including the conversations she could remember with Zhou Mingqian.

Mo Yushen listened without writing anything, occasionally glancing at Xi Jia's face.

Xi Jia spoke for several minutes, while Mo Yushen only wrote a few sentences in his notebook: "I went to Xinglan to deliver the script today, and Zhou Mingqian told me to wait for notification."

P.S.: Ask my husband for the specific details about going to Xinglan. He was worried I'd get tired of writing, so he memorized them for me.

Chapter Twenty-Six

Xi Jia waited a few minutes and, feeling that Mo Yushen had almost finished writing, asked, "Honey, is it done?"

"alright."

It was actually written a long time ago.

Mo Yushen was reading her diary entries from a few days ago. She had been busy with the script at home these days, and half of the diary entries were about the script, while the other half were about him.

She remembered every single word of their conversation in bed.

These were conversations that only she and he could understand.

"Honey, let me see it." Xi Jia couldn't sleep and wanted to see how good his notes were.
