Chapitre 53

Xi Jia felt a bit like a lover at that moment. She sat down and called out in a fake tone, "President Mo."

Mo Yushen handed her the glass of milk beside him, saying, "It's still warm, warm your hands with it."

Xi Jia took it, thanked him, opened the script and handed it to Mo Yushen. Mo Yushen saw a line of text in the blank space: "[I was just thinking about my little jealous boy, and then he appeared.]"

Chapter Thirty-One

There are many women on the film set, and with them, a lot of gossip. During breaks, they inevitably gather together to chat. Their eyes always unconsciously drift towards Mo Yushen and Xi Jia.

I don’t know if it’s just my imagination, but some people feel that Mo Yushen occasionally stares at Xi Jia’s profile.

You're probably mistaken.

Looking over there, Mo Yushen was reading the script, and Xi Jia was explaining it. Their body language was normal, without the slightest inappropriateness.

"Just say you're looking at it from the wrong angle, you're seeing it wrong."

"Maybe."

A man like Mo Yushen, who could have any woman he wanted and had seen any beautiful woman, how could he be so out of control, staring at a married woman?

"I didn't know Mo Jiejie wasn't married."

"I don't know, you'll have to ask Jiang Qin."

Their circle is inaccessible to ordinary people, and what others know is often based on speculation and rumors. Since Mo Yushen took off his ring before arriving today, they were even more inclined to believe that he was still single.

"If our screenwriter were also single, I must say, these two are actually a good match. They look like a married couple."

Now that you mention it, I think so too.

Several women were chatting behind Zhou Mingqian as he put on his headphones.

This is probably the worst time that a couple's resemblance has ever been used to criticize each other.

Xi Jia and Mo Yushen had only exchanged a few words, all about the script, and hadn't had a chance to talk about anything personal, when Zhou Mingqian called her over.

"Xi Jia, come here for a moment."

Xi Jia didn't respond when called the first time.

Zhou Mingqian scoffed inwardly. This woman only becomes tough when her sugar daddy comes along.

Looking at Xi Jia's expression, Mo Yushen realized she genuinely hadn't heard him and, fearing she might be sensitive, he didn't remind her.

"Xi Jia".

Xi Jia turned her head, and Mo Yushen then spoke: "Zhou Mingqian seems to be calling you."

Actually, it was Xiang Luo who approached her, offering her feedback on her part of the lines and hoping for changes.

Mo Yushen looked over there. He remembered Xiang Luo; they had sat next to each other at the equestrian tournament last November. Why did she have to look for Xi Jia now of all times?

During his business trip, he often video-chatted with Xi Jia, but he only saw her face and didn't notice that she had lost weight. Today, when he saw her in person, he realized that she had become much thinner.

Before he could even ask about her health, Xiang Luo came looking for her.

Xi Jia went over, glanced at the script, and asked Zhou Mingqian, "What's Director Zhou's opinion?"

Zhou Mingqian gently blew on his coffee, took a few sips, and said indifferently, "Don't ask me. Everything seems useless to me now." He pointed to the coffee cup, "Including this."

A vindictive and petty man. How could she have ever idolized him before?

Xi Jia was too lazy to argue with Zhou Mingqian. She insisted on her own script and told Xiang Luo, "There's no need to change it. Changing it will ruin the flavor."

Xiang Luo still felt that those lines were too corny and damaged her image. She was wearing such beautiful clothes, but speaking in such a rustic way, which would make her lose fans.

Xi Jia emphasized: "That's a direct translation of Mandarin from a dialect, not a local dialect."

Zhou Mingqian put his coffee cup aside, ready to start filming the next scene. He waved to Xiang Luo, indicating that he should go and rest.

Xiang Luo still argued her case, "Director Zhou, do you also think there's nothing wrong with the lines?" She hoped that Zhou Mingqian could, like he did this afternoon, confidently say that the lines were useless.

However, things did not go as planned.

Zhou Mingqian raised the coffee cup in his hand, "I'm eating chicken ribs, so I shouldn't talk while I'm eating."

The meaning is quite clear: Director Zhou is on Xi Jia's side.

Xiang Luo suddenly realized that Zhou Mingqian only allowed her to yell at Xi Jia and only allowed her to question the script.

When Zhou Mingqian yelled at Xi Jia, it was as if Xi Jia was his lover who had betrayed him, and in that instant, he wished he could put Xi Jia to death.

But if others offer suggestions on the script, it's pointless; in the end, Xi Jia's opinion prevails.

Typical double standards... dog.

hehe.

Men are all animals that think with their lower bodies.

Even a man like Zhou Mingqian, who has everything he could want, can't escape the common fate.

Xiang Luo remained silent. If she insisted on it, she would be offending Zhou Mingqian, and there was no need to offend the director for a single line.

The scene she just suggested changing in the script won't be filmed until tomorrow; all her scenes are finished today.

There was a dinner party that evening, and Xiang Luo didn't leave the set after finishing work. Mo Yushen was flipping through the script by himself, so she sat down next to him and said, "Mr. Mo, it's been a long time."

Mo Yushen raised his eyes, nodded slightly, and did not reply.

Xiang Luo had experienced Mo Yushen's indifference firsthand; at a previous equestrian tour, he had even refused to take a photo with her. She quickly eased the tension: "Thank you for the coffee."

Mo Yushen: "You're welcome."

He continued reading the script, not the content, but the markings and additions Xi Jia made in the blank spaces. He looked at them very carefully and even took pictures of them with his phone.

Xiang Luo initiated a conversation, speaking casually: "Didn't Attorney Cheng come along today?"

Mo Yushen gave a barely audible "hmm," showing no desire to continue the conversation.

Xiang Luo wisely kept quiet and opened her script to memorize her lines. She didn't leave but sat down in a seat very close to Mo Yushen.

Mo Yushen took a few pictures of the script, put away his phone, and looked up to find Xi Jia. Xi Jia was sitting next to the monitor, very close to Zhou Mingqian, their arms almost touching.

Mo Yushen closed the script and walked over.

This scene is a duet between Jiang Qin and Ye Qiu. Jiang Qin leads Ye Qiu, who gradually gets into character.

Mo Yushen gently patted Xi Jia's shoulder with the script. Xi Jia turned around and asked, "Finished reading?"

"Hmm." Mo Yushen handed her the script and casually glanced at the monitor.

Xi Jia feigned politeness, "Mr. Mo, please have a seat." She stood up to offer her her seat. She assumed Mo Yushen wouldn't sit, but he said, "Thank you."

Then, he actually sat down without any politeness.

The little incident passed quickly, and Xi Jia didn't dwell on it or think much of it, focusing instead on the monitor. Zhou Mingqian was the same, his eyes glued to it. When he was in work mode, he was a completely different person.

A serious man is always fatally attractive to women.

Many women in the crew hated Zhou Mingqian intensely at times, but were also hopelessly in love with him.

Mo Yushen was not interested in the camera, even though the person in front of the camera was Jiang Qin, he was still uninterested.

He turned his head unintentionally to look at Xi Jia and Zhou Mingqian, who had the same expression and gesture.

Xi Jia watched Ye Qiu's performance intently, feeling gratified. She walked around to Zhou Mingqian's side to look at another monitor, which offered another angle of Ye Qiu's performance.

"Jiang Qin changed one word in this line, but it's still better than my script."

Zhou Mingqian agreed, saying, "It's not bad." Jiang Qin may have a bad temper, but she's a natural actress and takes her script and lines very seriously.

Xi Jia pointed at Ye Qiu on the monitor and said, "She finally cried." It was a restrained cry, with tears welling up in her eyes but never falling.

Zhou Mingqian: "Jiang Qin did a good job of setting the emotional tone for her."

Only at times like this can Zhou Mingqian and Xi Jia temporarily put aside their dislike for each other and discuss the plot without holding grudges.

Mo Yushen glanced at Xi Jia, then at Zhou Mingqian. The two were chatting so enthusiastically that they completely forgot about his presence.

"Xi Jia," he called out.

Xi Jia: "Hmm? What's wrong?"

Nothing much.

Mo Yushen: "Come here."

Xi Jia strolled over, and Mo Yushen pointed to the monitor, "Is Jiang Qin short-tempered when she's acting?" He made conversation out of boredom.

Xi Jia objectively commented: "Very professional."

There was nothing left to talk about, so Mo Yushen didn't try to find topics to discuss; she just needed to stand next to him.

Xi Jia looked at Jiang Qin on the monitor; her opinion of Jiang Qin had changed slightly over this period of time.

On set, Jiang Qin still gave her an unfriendly look, but they never had a verbal conflict. Jiang Qin always consulted Zhou Mingqian about lines, never deliberately making things difficult for her.

The crew worked until 7:30 p.m. before wrapping up.

The restaurant where they were having dinner was located in the resort, and they walked there.

Xi Jia, who was with Ye Qiu, gave her a thumbs up for her performance in the previous scene.

She honestly said, "I was worried before that this scene might be too difficult for you, so I increased the difficulty last night." She even considered changing it, but felt that if she changed it, her acting skills wouldn't be showcased.

Ye Qiu needed this kind of training, but she didn't change it later.

Ye Qiu hadn't been this happy in a long time, at least not since the breakup. She sent Xi Jia a kiss from afar.

"You still love me the most."

Xi Jia told her to learn more from Jiang Qin.

Ye Qiu: "Are you just wiping the slate clean of all your past grievances with her?"

Xi Jia: "No, it's still written in my little notebook."

Ye Qiu smiled; their relationship was one of love and hate. She and Jiang Qin hadn't had a good impression of each other before, but after a few days of acting together, she realized Jiang Qin certainly had the right to be arrogant.

He's rich, good-looking, and has acting skills.

If it were her, she would be just as smug.
