Incendie mystérieux - Chapitre 47
There were only two people in the group, one of whom was her. Strangely enough, the other person wasn't an administrator. So, who created the group and added her?
A message came through; another person in the group asked her to add them as a friend, with an extremely humble and earnest message: "I will always support you, please allow me to always follow you!"
This is so strange. They're not ancient warriors, why all the formality? Bai Feifei turned her head and thought for a few seconds, then did as the other party asked. She'd see how things went; if she didn't like it, she could always blacklist him/her—friendships supported by modern communication are that simple and quick.
The other person called herself Old K, a name that sounded masculine, yet she claimed to be female. Bai Feifei chatted with her for a few minutes and was surprised to find that they had a surprisingly large amount of common ground. Their interests—movie stars, singers, books, and even their skincare brands—were exactly the same! This was nothing short of an astonishing coincidence! In all her years online, Bai Feifei had never encountered someone so similar to herself!
She felt an overwhelming sense of connection, chatting with Lao K all night long until the dormitory lights went out before reluctantly logging off. This online friend was wonderful! She was overjoyed, chatting with her from morning till night for three days straight. The more she got to know her, the more she realized that Lao K was practically her carbon copy—to use a popular phrase, "another me in the world." Not only were their interests similar, but their life experiences and personalities were also remarkably alike. The only thing Lao K lacked compared to Bai Feifei was that she never threatened to jump off a building. Even when she desperately wanted something, she only looked on with envy, never daring to risk her life to fight for it. This was something Lao K greatly admired about Bai Feifei, and it made Bai Feifei suddenly feel incredibly proud, walking with an almost divine advantage. Their relationship deepened, and when Lao K recognized Bai Feifei as her older sister, she readily agreed. She wanted to teach this little sister many things!
They became sworn sisters through video chat. Old K's younger sister was plain-looking, unlike Bai Feifei's radiant beauty—which boosted Bai Feifei's confidence. She began to act like a true older sister, instructing Old K in everything she said and did—including, of course, her infamous "jumping off a building." When she boasted to Old K about her daring act of jumping off the Yangtze River Bridge, what she received was far more than just the admiring gaze of a younger sister.
The name of the group, "White Queen," perfectly suited her intentions. "Not a concubine" meant she was no ordinary creature, but a phoenix soaring high above the clouds, the queen among women, the heroine among heroes, the empress who ruled the world—when Old K explained her name this way, she felt a surge of secret joy.
This little girl has such a sweet tongue!
So she extended a formal invitation. "Old K, I need to see you. Come to me," she said.
"Knock knock knock".
Volume 3: The Suicide Watcher of the Hell Record (Part 4)
The words had barely left the keyboard when a knocking sounded at the door. The chaotic knocking, like the clicking of abacus beads, seemed to express the knocker's urgency. Bai Feifei initially ignored it, expecting the knocker to leave in disappointment after receiving no response. However, the knocking didn't stop as she hoped; instead, it became more intense and frequent, until finally she had to jump off her chair.
A strange girl was standing outside the door—the so-called strangeness only refers to her appearance in real life; online, they are best friends who can talk about anything!
"Sister Bai!" Old K excitedly rushed into her arms, not even putting down his travel bag. "It's so great to be with you!"
I'm so happy too... Bai Feifei's mind went blank. Although meeting Old K's sister was her wish, wasn't this happening a bit too fast? She looked back at the brightly lit screen, where the sentence she had just typed was still flashing:
"Old K, I need to see you. Come to me."
Could it be that Old K actually lives in this girls' dormitory, which is why he arrived at her side at the speed of light? But she clearly told her that she was studying far away in the west! Bai Feifei recovered from her initial surprise and began to question her with suspicion.
"You have no idea how happy I am! Really!" Old K hugged her tightly, chattering on and on about his excitement. "You wanted to see me, and you even invited me yourself! I've been waiting for this moment for so many years! I can't even begin to describe how happy I am! Ah, tell me, am I dreaming?"
"Many years?" Bai Feifei thought coldly to herself. "We've known each other for less than a week, haven't we?" But then again, this younger sister of hers always had a sweet tongue and always knew how to flatter her perfectly, and this time was no exception. For a moment, she felt like a star being adored, a light and uncomfortable feeling.
"You must be exhausted from the journey?" She took Old K's travel bag, ostensibly to help, but secretly assessing the weight of the luggage inside. It wasn't light, quite heavy in fact; it probably wasn't a member of this building, or at least someone from out of town. As for the reason for Old K's mysterious appearance…
"Sister Bai, if you ever need my help, just give the word," she said earnestly, "within one minute, no, within thirty seconds, no matter where I am, I will step forward! I will never break my promise!"
She sounded like a true follower of gold, and Old K seemed unwilling to explain why she had appeared with such precognitive insight. Bai Feifei, pleased with herself, thought it might be the first unexpected surprise her sister had given her, so she didn't press the matter. She arranged for Old K to stay, and on their first night together, they talked almost all night long, then slept until noon the next day. Bai Feifei naturally skipped all her morning classes, but she exclaimed how enjoyable it was, feeling she had never felt so good in her life.
She was very satisfied with their subsequent cohabitation. Since Old K neither went to class nor worked, he spent all his time eating, drinking, and having fun with her. Furthermore, out of admiration for her, he insisted on doing her laundry and buying her meals, taking care of her comfortably. For Bai Feifei, Old K brought back the feeling of coming home, making her feel surrounded by family, with everything done for her—it was truly incomparably pleasant. However, no one is perfect, and after a while, some flaws inevitably appeared. If one had to point out any shortcomings, there were roughly three:
One problem is his stinginess. When Old K first arrived, Bai Feifei, as her older sister and hostess, treated her to meals twice. Old K remained indifferent, expressing profuse thanks but never mentioning reciprocating, which annoyed Bai Feifei. Later, when Old K offered to get her meals, he always asked for money, keeping meticulous accounts and never willing to lose even a penny, nor did he ever offer to treat her to anything. Considering she was his younger sister, this was somewhat forgivable.
Secondly, she was talkative. When she first arrived, there were many interesting topics, and Bai Feifei often chatted with her until late at night. Later, her enthusiasm gradually cooled, and Bai Feifei, for the sake of skincare, also planned to go to bed earlier. But she wouldn't listen. Every night, she would still chatter on and on about everyday things, completely ignoring Bai Feifei's drooping eyelids. Unlike Bai Feifei, she didn't have school duties and could relax in her dorm all day, with plenty of time to catch up on sleep—but Bai Feifei was different. She was, after all, a university student; she couldn't just sleep in every day and skip classes, could she? Wasting precious study time on pointless late-night chatter wasn't worth it! Bai Feifei had tried to remind her, but she was two-faced, agreeing on the surface but continuing her ways behind her back. Sometimes, Bai Feifei couldn't bear it any longer and had to plug her ears with cotton. If this was tolerable with the help of earplugs, then the last point was unforgivable.
A boy had been pursuing Bai Feifei, and although she didn't like him, she never explicitly rejected him. She continued to eat with him and accept his gifts, but remained stubbornly unyielding. On Valentine's Day, the boy treated her to a Brazilian barbecue buffet, and she invited Lao K along. Compared to her sister's extremely ordinary appearance, she appeared all the more charming and beautiful.
However, Old K's witty and clever conversation quickly made up for his lack of physical attractiveness. Bai Feifei didn't notice this at first, only realizing it when she returned from the restroom. Completely different from her reserved demeanor, Old K's brows were full of charm, instantly enlivening her otherwise ordinary face. And the boy? His expression also became grinning. Bai Feifei's sharp eyes could even see his gaze like hooks, as if he wanted to reach into Old K's open V-neck.
Her heart skipped a beat. This was the first time she had ever seen Old K wearing a low-cut dress. Although Old K's appearance was average, her breasts were much fuller than those of most Eastern women. Judging from the way she kept bending forward, she seemed to want to show off her deep, white cleavage to attract the lust of the man opposite her. Was her obsequiousness towards Bai Feifei just a way to climb the social ladder by stepping on her?
Bai Feifei returned to her seat with a smile and finished her tasteless barbecue without batting an eye. Until she parted ways with the boy, she remained calm, as if she knew nothing. But as soon as she saw him turn away, her face fell, and she strode back to her dorm, slamming the door shut before Old K could enter.
"Sister Bai! No!" Old K seemed to foresee his tragic fate, pounding on the wooden door and crying out for her forgiveness. "Don't leave me!"
Bai Feifei listened calmly to her pleas, feeling nothing at all. She simply logged onto QQ, entered "The White Queen's Glass City," and then fulfilled her duties as an administrator.
"No!!!" The desperate cries echoed persistently in her ears. Ignoring them, she decisively removed Old K from her private chat group. Just a click of the "OK" button—a simple click of the mouse—
The world suddenly became quiet. After waiting for a long time and still not hearing Old K's voice, Bai Feifei hesitated and opened the door a crack.
Old K has disappeared.
Just as she appeared miraculously, she vanished silently from Bai Feifei's sight once again.
Volume 3: The Suicide Watcher of the Hell Record (Part 5)
Only a brightly colored dress remained outside the door, haphazardly folded on top of underwear and leather shoes. That was the outfit Old K had been wearing at the time.
What a troublesome guy! He even left his clothes on his own front door before leaving. That's outrageous, absolutely outrageous!
Having learned her lesson, Bai Feifei became more cautious. Facing the empty "White Queen" QQ group, she set new rules for herself. "Character is paramount," she muttered to herself. "The key is honesty and reliability. No flirting, no showing off, and absolutely no stealing my thunder. Besides, they must be grateful; stingy people can go away." Although many strangers requested to join the group during this time, Bai Feifei strictly vetted them according to her standards. If they answered a question incorrectly, she would refuse their request without hesitation—and so she persistently chose her companions from the vast sea of people. She didn't know how much time had passed, but finally, she met her destined one.
Xiao Q. She was a well-behaved and obedient girl, very shy and timid. Strangely, even this obedient girl, Xiao Q, took the initiative to approach Bai Feifei and ask to become friends, which made Bai Feifei even more convinced of her own charm. Their interactions were uneventful, with Bai Feifei in control most of the time. She laughed and talked, while Xiao Q simply responded silently, her tone revealing only envy and longing. She seemed to be a truly sheltered young lady, completely unaware of the outside world. No matter how much Bai Feifei boasted, she would only stare in astonishment, looking on with immense admiration. Of course, this innocent little beauty was considered a younger sister by Bai Feifei. So she extended an invitation.
"Knock knock." A timid knocking sound. And then, with lightning speed, Little Q, carrying two heavy travel bags, stood helplessly in front of her door. Bai Feifei was both curious and amused: Could it be that everyone wanting to join the "White Queen" group lived in this girls' dormitory? Otherwise, how could they all be so quick?
She tentatively asked Xiao Q, but Xiao Q blushed and refused to answer, gritting her teeth. She seemed to have traveled a long way, for the moment her head hit the pillow, she fell into a deep sleep, clearly exhausted. While she slept, Bai Feifei quietly checked her luggage. The two large travel bags were stuffed full of changes of clothes, and apart from other essential items, she found nothing to prove her identity. Not only that, but there wasn't even a trace of a train or bus ticket. Bai Feifei gazed at her sweet sleeping face, her heart filled with suspicion.
So, she really is from this city? Or perhaps Little Q is waiting outside her dormitory, ready to knock and come see her at Bai Feifei's command—this younger sister is quite thoughtful in giving her a surprise! Bai Feifei was filled with smugness.
Little Q was indeed a well-behaved child, always following Bai Feifei around like a puppet. If Bai Feifei told her to go east, she would never dare to go west. With her by her side, Bai Feifei felt she had an obedient maid who never dared to disobey her orders. Although it was convenient to order Little Q around, it became boring after a while. In the past, the struggles with her roommates were often fierce and resulted in injuries on both sides, which Bai Feifei found quite interesting. Now, Little Q was like a robot, completely obedient, which soon bored her. She couldn't help but regret her initial criteria for choosing friends, only considering whether the other person was honest and obedient, without ever thinking about whether they shared similar interests. Little Q was like a blank sheet of paper, knowing nothing and having no opinions of her own. Even when they chatted, it was often Bai Feifei unilaterally imparting knowledge, and Little Q just passively accepted it—her simple-minded and dull appearance, which had seemed somewhat cute at first, now looked like something akin to an idiot and was utterly repulsive to Bai Feifei. Especially when she answered "yes" in the same way every time, her movements were slow and she didn't even blink. Bai Feifei really wanted to punch her awake! She couldn't help but wonder if that girl with the blank look on her face was born mentally challenged.
While she wouldn't immediately kick her out, Bai Feifei found herself increasingly disliking her and quickly began searching for new online friends. Rather than sharing a room with a dullard, staring at each other in silence, she preferred to have a heart-to-heart talk with someone she understood. This time, Bai Feifei learned from her previous experience and not only valued character but also placed great importance on the other person's interests and hobbies. Those who were taciturn were often uninteresting, while those who were lively and outgoing were often frivolous—Bai Feifei had had enough of these so-called friends. She was determined to find a compromise, a truly trustworthy and reliable friend.
She was lucky. People wanted to join the "White Queen" group on QQ all day long, not to mention those who wanted to be added as friends. Bai Feifei was busy testing those QQ numbers every day, strictly screening everyone who joined the group. In fact, after Lao K and Xiao Q, "White Queen's Glass City" finally welcomed its third member. Her name was A-J.
Unlike Old K, Ah J didn't use blatantly sycophantic flattery to praise her; instead, he used sharp words to point out her inner thoughts. For Bai Feifei, this was the first time she had met someone so understanding. Ah J's gaze seemed to pierce through her heart, seeing right through her—and she felt both delighted and afraid. Unlike Little Q, Ah J's life experience was clearly much richer; she seemed to possess countless fascinating stories, which Bai Feifei listened to with utter fascination and fascination. This time, she couldn't wait to meet Ah J in person.
But what about the bed? Bai Feifei frowned. Although it was a standard four-person room for undergraduates, Bai Feifei, who was already used to living alone, found it extremely cramped and bumpy with Xiao Q. What would happen if another person were added? Wouldn't that be throwing away the freedom she had finally gained and going back to her old dorm life?
She decided to get rid of Little Q.
It's easy to invite a god in, but hard to send him away. No matter how kindly Bai Feifei tried to persuade her, Xiao Q remained unmoved, her face ashen. Her perpetually expressionless face was now even more dull and unsightly. Frustrated, Bai Feifei resorted to extreme measures, deliberately picking fights and throwing things, and even resorting to her old tricks: calling her in the middle of the night and making a racket in the morning to keep her from sleeping—but these sure-fire methods were completely useless against Xiao Q. She wasn't just slow-witted, she was practically inhuman! Bai Feifei thought bitterly, how could she sleep soundly in such a noisy environment, and even sleep through the night without yawning! She was simply a pig!
Having exhausted all her options, she had no choice but to resort to her ultimate killing move.
"If you don't leave, I'll remove you from the group"—Bai Feifei threatened her like this. Based on Lao K's previous experience, she vaguely felt that this was the netizens' weakness.
"No!" Little Q screamed, "Please don't do this! If you do, I will..."
Before she could finish her terrified words, Bai Feifei laughed triumphantly, "You can beg me. Well then, from this moment on, you'd better take your things and get out of here!"
She was still polite enough not to say "get out." But instead of leaving, Little Q ran to the wardrobe and hid inside. "No! No! No!" Her pitiful screams came from inside the wardrobe, muffled and unpleasant, "Please don't!"
Bai Feifei chuckled, grabbing the wardrobe door with one hand and the mouse with the other, "I'll count to three!"
Clear!
At that moment, she abruptly pulled open the wardrobe. She fully expected to see Xiao Q's tearful face, but there was nothing inside.
To be precise, apart from a small pile of clothes, she found nothing belonging to Xiao Q herself. It was as if she had evaporated into thin air, leaving only a pile of clothing fragments behind.
Volume 3: The Suicide Watcher of the Hell Record (Part 6)
Bai Feifei frowned. Old K was one thing, but even Little Q did the same. Did these netizens all like to leave her clothes as souvenirs? Besides, they even threw away her underwear; did they think they were willing to go out naked?
However, she immediately realized an extremely obvious fact: if Old K had left her dormitory, then where had Little Q gone? Just now, she had clearly hidden in the closet—a closed closet is, in essence, a secret room!
"Come out!" she yelled, frantically rummaging through the clothes in the closet, shouting, "Hiding won't help! I know you're in there!"
How dare she strip naked and hide among her clothes…aren’t you afraid of ruining her precious treasure! Bai Feifei’s heart was filled with uncontrollable rage. “Just wait till I find you!” she muttered, cursing under her breath, wishing she could drag Xiao Q out and give her a good beating. But she searched the entire wardrobe and couldn’t find a trace of her.
How strange… She slumped into a chair, utterly perplexed. Could there be a secret passage behind the wardrobe? Or could Little Q have the ability to create clones? Impossible—the thought of a secret passage hidden in the school dormitory, like something out of a cheesy martial arts drama, made her want to laugh. It must just be her eyes playing tricks on her, she reassured herself. How could anyone simply vanish into thin air?
If Xiao Q were a person—of course, Bai Feifei hadn't considered this at all back then.
The tight schedule left her no time to think. She'd finally managed to get rid of Little Q, and her new friend, Ah J, was eagerly waiting to check in!
Ah J was better than any other online friend she'd ever met. She was sweet-talking, quick-witted, and diligent, always watching her every move, constantly trying to understand her thoughts. Unlike Old K's blatant flattery, Ah J's words were much more subtle, yet they penetrated Bai Feifei's very soul, making her feel comfortable from head to toe. This was masterful flattery, subtly making her feel elated without leaving a trace—a truly profound art. Since Ah J came into her life, Bai Feifei felt like a true empress, all-powerful, and Ah J was her favored courtier, applauding her every move. But her skill didn't stop there; even more remarkably, she seemed to read Bai Feifei's mind. The slightest movement of Bai Feifei's brow, and she would immediately understand what Bai Feifei wanted to do, always anticipating and executing it perfectly. Over time, Bai Feifei's life became not only easy but also incredibly comfortable. So she gratefully grasped Ah J's hand and made a promise to her:
"J, we'll always be best friends, right?"
A J's eyes shone with extreme joy. She paused for a long time, seemingly too excited to speak, and choked up.
"Of course!" The answer, heavy with weight, was absolutely her heartfelt sentiment.
“Then you will always be by my side,” Bai Feifei said with unwavering faith, “always stay with me like you are now!”
She would never forget that moment. Just as she uttered those words, large tears welled up in Ah J's eyes, and moved by his emotion, her own eyes also moistened. The two, bound by their unwavering trust in each other's friendship, wept and rushed into each other's arms. What a touching scene!
Nourished by pure friendship, Bai Feifei became increasingly radiant. During the day, she moved among numerous admirers, surrounded by sweet words. At night, she returned to her dormitory to enjoy the masterful compliments offered by A-J. "With a mouth like that, if you were a boy, I might have fallen for you long ago!" she joked to A-J in her tipsy bliss. The latter simply lowered his head, a hint of melancholy flashing in his eyes.
However, she gradually became annoyed. It wasn't a mental issue, but perhaps simply a physical ailment; she always felt sleep-deprived, reluctant to get out of bed, and even when she did manage to, she was constantly yawning. Although Ah J said it was "spring fatigue and autumn lethargy," a normal phenomenon caused by weather changes, Bai Feifei still felt uncomfortable. A beautiful woman like her, ruined by "sleep deprivation," had developed panda eyes; even if no one said anything, she was too embarrassed to go out!
Moreover, every morning when she woke up, she felt as if she were dreaming, a long and tiring dream. Although she couldn't remember the contents of the dream at all, the cold and dark gratitude emanating from the depths of the dream disgusted her.
Moreover, whether it was just her overreaction or not, her intuition told her that this dream seemed to have some subtle connection with Ah J.
Thinking back carefully, before Ah J appeared, Bai Feifei, who was in good health, had never experienced such problems. Even when she argued with her roommate, she never felt listless. Logically speaking, Bai Feifei should have been sleeping more soundly after gaining a good friend, so why did she develop more health issues instead?
Her problem was getting worse. She was sleepy from morning till night, and as soon as it got dark, she wanted to climb into bed and fall asleep the moment her head hit the pillow. She wouldn't get up until she had slept for twelve hours. But even so, she still felt tired and couldn't muster any energy.
And that dream became clearer and clearer.
Ah J's face appeared repeatedly, each time looking down at her with a cold, expressionless face, as pale and austere as frost. Bai Feifei wanted to shout, to make a sound, but her body felt as heavy as lead. She could only stare helplessly at Ah J, watching those icy gazes so sharp they seemed to cut right through her. In that moment, she truly understood what it meant to be powerless.
Bai Feifei was no pushover. A quick thought struck her, and she devised a solution. She'd tried pretending to be asleep to monitor A-J, but being a heavy sleeper, she couldn't stay awake past nine o'clock, let alone keep watch. Since that wouldn't work, she immediately borrowed a webcam and, while A-J was out, secretly placed it on a shelf, concealing it with a pile of odds and ends. She had already connected the webcam to her computer and installed webcam monitoring software. Just before going to bed, she quietly turned it on.
When she woke up the next day, her eyelids were still heavy and she felt terrible. While Ah J was buying breakfast, she secretly exported the video she had recorded the night before and uploaded it to a reliable server. After quickly finishing breakfast, she went alone to the school's network center and downloaded the surveillance video from the previous night.
She felt a chill run through her body, as if she were trapped in an ice cellar, and her teeth chattered uncontrollably. Before her eyes unfolded the entire scene from her dormitory the previous night.
A chilling scene.
Volume 3: The Suicide Watcher of the Hell Record (Part 7)
She saw her sleeping face, as innocent and pure as a newborn baby. She gazed at herself with genuine admiration, at that youthful face brimming with vitality, her eyes lingering. She didn't know how much time had passed, but even Ah J turned off the light and went to bed, leaving only darkness behind him.
A long, oppressive, suffocating darkness.
Then a dark orange flame flickered; it was Ah J turning on the desk lamp beside her. In the pitch-black night, that light was like a ghostly glow, sending chills down her spine. But even brighter than the lamplight were Ah J's own eyes. She silently got up, her eyes gleaming eerily in front of the camera.
She crouched down and silently climbed down the ladder beside the bed, her movements as supple and light as a well-trained cheetah, yet powerful nonetheless. In the dim light behind her, Bai Feifei could see through the screen that her lips were stretched taut and unrestrained, forming a deep, unfathomable black slit.
Bai Feifei's heart was pounding in her chest. She could only watch helplessly as Ah J, with a strange smile, slowly approached her bed, using both hands and feet. Danger! She desperately wanted to warn her past self: Wake up! Wake up!
But she was still fast asleep. Ah J approached her with a smile, his huge black hand almost covering the entire monitor screen. Bai Feifei subconsciously covered her mouth, watching Ah J cup her head and examine it carefully.
The time dragged on so long it almost made her scream. Ah J kept stroking her head, seemingly plotting something, even prying open her lips and fiddling with her eyelids, perhaps checking her health—Bai Feifei, watching from outside the screen, gritted her teeth, "This woman dares to repay kindness with enmity! And I've been so good to her!"
However, Ah J couldn't hear Bai Feifei's inner thoughts at all. Like a competent doctor, she nodded in satisfaction only after successfully examining her patient. "You hide your desires so deeply..." she suddenly spoke, not the fawning voice Bai Feifei was familiar with, but a cold, wicked, and even strangely beautiful voice. At this moment, Ah J seemed like a completely different person, exuding an aura of malevolence. "Do I really have to go to such lengths?"
Before Bai Feifei could react, she saw a flash of cold light in Ah J's hand, and with a "poof," a stream of liquid sprayed precisely onto the head of the statue. The liquid was dark in color and viscous in texture, and it was stickily sliding down the glass lens.
That's blood! Bai Feifei shuddered, almost screaming. It was fresh blood that had just gushed from her body!
At the same time, she heard a strange sound, a cruel sound like flesh being torn apart… She anxiously looked at the screen, but couldn't see herself. Ah J was blocking her view; he was standing in front of her, bending down and doing something nefarious. In the darkness, she only saw cold light repeatedly slicing through the air, extinguishing within her body.
Sizzle, sizzle. The sound seemed to echo the cold glint in Ah J's hand, and at the same time, spurts of blood gushed out, staining the lens a dark brown. Bai Feifei seemed to understand something, because from a certain moment on, her legs began to tremble uncontrollably like a sieve. Although she tried her best to control it, it wasn't just her legs; she suddenly realized that her entire body, from her neck to her arms, was trembling spasmodically.
Her unusual behavior caught the attention of her classmates. "Are you alright?" one of them asked with concern. Bai Feifei could only shake her head nervously. She was terrified by the bizarre and crazy scene. All she could do now was hug her arms tightly, as if she were afraid she would die.
"Am I really still alive?" she asked herself. "Or am I just a wandering ghost, while my physical body has already died?"
