Kapitel 7

He casually popped one into his mouth; it was bland and tasteless. Wen Zheng disgustedly put some crushed ice on top of the still-hot meatball to cool it down quickly.

A cat meal was ready in no time.

Wen Zheng placed the plate on the coffee table, then picked up the cat, picked up a meatball, and put it in the cat's bowl.

"I apologize to you." He said calmly, "Don't you like fish soup? That so-called 'Gold Medal Fish Soup' has a fishy smell, I wouldn't eat it even if it were given to me."

The black cat stirred.

"I didn't mean to force you, don't be angry. This is delicious, but it's okay if you don't want to eat it."

Wen Zheng paused for a moment and then said, "I'm sorry."

This cat is different from other cats; it is fierce, strong, and powerful. Even if it is covered in wounds and doesn't eat or drink for at least two days, no one can force it.

Wen Zheng didn't know how to describe his feelings.

When he regained his senses, his first reaction was actually appreciation.

The second feeling is guilt.

Who does he think he is, using his body several times larger to force a cat to do something it doesn't want to do? It's an unfair and shameful victory. He must apologize for it.

Moreover, Deng Puyue had spoken to him at the hospital earlier, and Wen Zheng had taken it to heart.

“Brother Zheng, you should really reconsider taking this cat. It’s so aggressive, most people wouldn’t want it. Even if you send it to a shelter, with its domineering nature, it’ll be fighting every day. In the end, you’ll have to sacrifice it for a group of cats.” Deng Puyue licked his little tiger teeth. “There are no cats left in the wild now. You can’t even rummage through the trash like you did hundreds of years ago. Brother Zheng, can you really just watch it die?”

cannot.

Wen Zheng said silently to himself.

He didn't actually hate cats that much; he just wasn't prepared for it.

If it were that time now, there wouldn't be anything wrong with it.

So what if I'm an idiot? Everyone makes mistakes in their life.

He stared at the black cat lying on its side. Half an hour had passed, and the chicken meatballs had gone cold, but the cat hadn't moved an inch.

Wen Zheng sighed softly and was about to stand up when the black cat suddenly moved.

It used its only intact paw to prop itself up and lift its head.

Then it opened its mouth, its pink little tongue sticking out, and with a flick of its tongue, it rolled the small chicken meatball into its mouth.

Wen Zheng felt a chill run down his spine.

Hold.

What does this feel like?

That little pink tongue...

Is this what they call being overwhelmed by cuteness?!

Wen Zheng was having difficulty breathing.

"I'm finished," he thought.

Author's Note: Wen Zheng: I'm an idiot. I raised a monster.

Chapter 5

There were too many chicken meatballs. The black cat ate five, and Wen Zheng poured a soy sauce dish and ate the rest.

It was getting late, so he took off his blood-stained clothes, put on a special wound dressing, took a refreshing shower, and started deleting his Weibo posts.

First came the adoption request in the morning, and then the pinned post saying they didn't own a cat. After these two posts were deleted, fans keenly sensed something was amiss.

Z might actually have a cat!

Could it be that Z's badly injured, ugly cat, whose breed is impossible to identify, really possess such great magic?!

Fans frantically sought confirmation, and Wen Zheng's private message inbox was flooded. After a while, Deng Puyue sent him a message asking if he had really made up his mind.

Wen Zheng replied with a reserved "Mmm" once again.

At the same time, he felt uncomfortable looking at those jarring statements.

What is an ugly cat?

What's ugly about his big black dog (his newly chosen name)?

Wen Zheng completely forgot that he had nonchalantly overlooked these ugly words during the day...

He straightened his posture, moved the floor lamp next to the sleeping Dahei, picked up his phone and took many more pictures, which he then sent to Deng Puyue.

Wen Zheng: Help me edit this picture.

-Yu Di:………………

Wen Zheng finally changed his pinned Weibo post, which he had posted for two consecutive years.

@Z-BKC: My cat's name is Dahei. He's not ugly, thank you. [Images][Images][Images]

The incident caused a huge stir, with Wen Zheng's Weibo post being filled with exclamation marks and question marks.

Wen Zheng stopped checking messages and browsed the official Weibo account of Aimao Live for a while. Registration for the streamer competition had just begun, and some people had already eagerly confirmed their participation. Aimao Live tagged several participants, all of whom Wen Zheng recognized.

The most familiar one is the one that looks like a storm brewing.

Wen Zheng had never actually spoken to him; they were complete strangers. However, since they played the same game on the same platform, it was certain that they knew each other's names.

He clicked on the Weibo post that seemed to foreshadow an impending storm.

@MountainRainIsComing-CatLove: The dungeon [Pharaoh's Wrath] finally refreshed within 120 minutes!!! Thanks to my brothers, and thanks to the Cat Lover's Day event, hahaha!! We actually made a mistake with the three-tiered tower's constant-speed rotating wheel, and it just so happened that Clara's magic spawned... Just like that, suddenly, we broke the record! @SurvivalSpace @CatLoveLive, praise my good luck, hahaha—

While his Weibo posts about an impending storm may seem flippant, his in-game style is actually quite composed; he's the steady and reliable type of streamer.

In his early years, unlike many others, he wasn't good at making witty remarks, and his grades were always average. Later, he made a name for himself by solving puzzles efficiently. He could always see through the "type" of a puzzle at a glance and make connections in the shortest amount of time; he was a master.

Wen Zheng admires him very much.

After reading some more meaningless nonsense, Wen Zheng got sleepy. He put the cat back in the incubator, and the cat didn't struggle or bite him.

His heart softened suddenly, as if it had been soaked in honey water.

"Good night," he said.

"Good night, Mr. Wen," the intelligent system replied, and the lights suddenly went out, revealing the flowing Milky Way.

Wen Zheng, who was used to seeing this, quickly fell asleep.

***

It's Friday, and the atmosphere in the office is relaxed.

Someone saw Wen Zheng come in and asked him gossipy, "How did the cat do yesterday?"

“I’ve taken it,” Wen Zheng replied calmly.

"That's not bad... Wait a minute?" His colleague, seeing Wen Zheng's injured hand, asked him incredulously, "You got burned?"

Wen Zheng: "The cost of owning a cat."

colleague:"…………"

When it was time to leave work, Wen Zheng immediately stood up to go. Jin Fanrong teased him, "Hey, why aren't you working hard again today?"

Wen Zheng nodded: "The cat is at home."

Jin Fanrong curled his lip: "Anyone who didn't know better would think it was some kind of breed of cat, but it's just a mixed breed..."

Wen Zheng's eyes pierced through her like knives.

Jin Fanrong shuddered, and his words immediately changed: "Mixed...mixed miracles, long live mixed races."

Wen Zheng had to buy groceries and cook for the mixed-race prince, Da Hei, so he arrived home half an hour later than usual.

No dinner parties or psychology group classes today, perfect for live-streaming gaming.

Z, the notorious procrastinator, finally posted a preview: he'll be live tonight.

After feeding him chicken meatballs yesterday, Dahei's attitude towards him improved a lot, and today he obediently ate the fried fish balls he made.

Wen Zheng discovered that Dahei was truly intelligent. When you talked to it, it would open its eyes and look at you, sometimes with a meaningful look in its eyes, which was very human-like.

After it went online, Wen Zheng talked to Deng Puyue about it, and Deng Puyue clapped her hands and cheered: "Then Brother Zheng might be able to get rid of the mute label!"

Then he was kicked into the sparring area, where Wen Zheng beat him from head to toe, leaving him covered in shoe prints when he crawled out.

On Friday night, during peak live streaming hours, they both opened the live streaming assistant on AiMao Live and greeted their respective viewers.

Deng Puyue cupped her cheeks in her hands as if shouting, "You guys actually want to look at the leaderboard?! Can't you see how crowded it is there? Go check it out yourself!"

After a moment, he said with a worried look, "You little cowards, you could at least create a special account just to gossip..."

"What? Really? The new account can't be viewed anymore... I really didn't know that..."

Wen Zheng wasn't good at interacting with the comments. He only heard Deng Puyue say that she wanted to see the leaderboard, so he reached out and pulled her by the back of her collar, saying in a conciliatory way that it wasn't that crowded and she could crawl under.

The live chat was filled with laughter.

Deng Puyue is shorter than Wen Zheng. He's a little short of 1.7 meters, while his brother Zheng is 1.86 meters tall, practically the Tokyo Skytree or the Tokyo Tower.

Besides her height, Deng Puyue's appearance is also heartbreaking.

He was born in the same year as Wen Zheng, yet he has a chubby, baby-faced appearance. With his little tiger teeth showing, calling him "Brother Zheng" or "Dad Zheng" wouldn't feel out of place at all.

Deng Puyue's game avatar was almost identical to his real-life appearance. In the end, feeling utterly hopeless, he agreed to his fans' request, squeezed into the crowd, and went to a place very close to the central crystal.

The deep blue crystals stand tall and majestic, their soft light scattering across the glass dome, creating a classical and magnificent effect.

Wen Zheng stood on a high ground outside the crowd, looking at the central crystal, and lightly tapped the dungeon ranking area in the air.

The Pharaoh's Wrath raid record has just been broken, and it's currently highlighted in red with the names of four players listed below for players worldwide to admire.

Holographic games transcend server limitations and even national borders; the development of translation systems allows for seamless communication in one's native language. However, the four participants in "The Storm Is Brewing" are all Chinese, and breaking the record carries a sense of national pride, causing fans to jump for joy.

Wen Zheng wasn't particularly interested in the record-breaking progress; as long as the puzzle was solved, no matter how long it took, that was enough. But that didn't stop him from admiring the impending storm that was about to break the record.

Seeing him staring at the highlighted record for a long time, the comments section started to tease him in a good-natured way.

-What is Z looking at? Falling in love at first sight with a horse?
