Kapitel 97

Xin Ying sat quietly alone on the sofa in the hotel suite, silently smoking.

The room was dark, but the light coming through the tall floor-to-ceiling windows revealed a faint smoke filling the room, indicating that Xin Ying had been smoking alone there for a long time.

After what seemed like an eternity, the doorbell rang suddenly, snapping Xin Ying out of her daze.

Xin Ying turned on the ventilation system, opened the window, and then walked to the door of the room.

As soon as the suite door opened, a beautiful woman with long, straight hair and a pea-green short-sleeved dress stood smiling in the doorway.

Xin Ying pulled her into the room, touched her bare arms, and asked, "Why are you dressed so lightly? Aren't you cold?"

Lin Leyao shook her head, hugged Xin Ying tightly, buried her face in Xin Ying's chest and whispered, "I missed you so much."

It was rare to hear Lin Leyao act coquettishly, so Xin Ying couldn't help but smile. She hugged the person in her arms tighter, kissed Lin Leyao's head, and asked softly, "That's what you think?"

As she spoke, Xin Ying chuckled softly.

Xin Ying laughed so hard her chest heaved up and down. Lin Leyao closed her eyes and nestled in Xin Ying's arms, listening to the deep laughter coming from Xin Ying's chest. Her heart calmed down and she felt completely at ease.

After a while, Lin Leyao lifted her head from Xin Ying's embrace, wrinkled her nose, and said, "You smoked!"

Lin Leyao's tone was very certain, and Xin Ying didn't intend to hide it, so she smiled and said, "I only took a little bit, you can check if you don't believe me."

As she spoke, Xin Ying cupped Lin Leyao's face and kissed her.

After the kiss ended, Lin Leyao buried her head in Xin Ying's arms, unwilling to look up.

Xin Ying lifted Lin Leyao's chin and kissed her hard on the lips again.

After a while, Lin Leyao raised her head, glaring at me accusingly: "You did this on purpose, you didn't want me to continue!"

Lin Leyao's eyes were long and narrow, and after the kiss, the corners of her eyes were red and wet. At this moment, her eyes were wide open, and she looked at Xin Ying not like she was questioning her, but rather like she was being coquettish.

Xin Ying laughed again and couldn't help but pinch Lin Leyao's cheek.

"I did it on purpose, so what can you do about it?" Xin Ying said deliberately.

Lin Leyao became even angrier when she saw Xin Ying smiling so happily.

She bit Xin Ying's neck.

Xin Ying felt a sharp pain in her neck. Lin Leyao heard her inhale and instantly loosened her grip on her teeth. She relaxed her strength and gently rubbed Xin Ying's neck between her teeth.

The stinging sensation disappeared, followed by a tingling sensation.

Lin Leyao nestled her fluffy head in Xin Ying's neck, leaving a trail of wetness on her neck, just like an adorable Maltese puppy snuggling in her arms.

Xin Ying picked Lin Leyao up and the two quickly went from the living room into the bedroom.

Xin Ying went into the bathroom to take a shower, while Lin Leyao got out of bed wrapped in a bathrobe.

The tall floor-to-ceiling windows brought the city nightscape outside into the confined space of the room. Outside, the sky had already turned from darkness to gray, and the once-brilliant stars adorning the night sky were gradually fading.

It's already past midnight, and the sky is gradually brightening. S City, as an international metropolis, is a city that never sleeps. After a night of bustling activity, this moment between day and night is the quietest time in the city.

As a well-known five-star hotel in the city, the place where Lin Leyao stayed was both the most affectionate and the most heartless place.

All sorts of people gather here, experiencing both breathtaking romance and heart-wrenching family breakdowns.

But Lin Leyao felt very at ease here.

Lin Leyao stood at the window and watched for a long time. Xin Ying was taking a shower inside, and the sound of water kept coming from the bathroom.

Lin Leyao watched for a while, then looked away and returned to the living room.

She picked up all the clothes from the ground and put them into the laundry basket one by one.

Xin Ying's clothes were scattered on the sofa, and Lin Leyao picked up her coat.

Lin Leyao put Xin Ying's coat into the laundry basket, and heard a crisp sound as the coat hit the basket.

Lin Leyao paused for a moment, then took out Xin Ying's coat. Only then did she notice a hard object in Xin Ying's coat pocket.

Just as she was about to take her things out, she heard the bathroom door open and Xin Ying call out, "Le Yao."

Chapter 92

After dawn, Xin Ying and Lin Leyao finished breakfast and went to a bookstore together.

The bookstore is located in an alley in the old town, where many small Western-style buildings from the 1920s and 30s have become landmark buildings in S City.

The bookstore was quiet in the morning. When Lin Leyao and Xin Ying went there, the bookstore had just opened and was very peaceful.

Lin Leyao used to love coming to this bookstore. She would take a book and sit on the second floor, where there were very few people, and stay there for half a day.

The bookstore has two floors. On the first floor, there are six bookshelves that extend from the floor to the ceiling, serving as partitions. These partitions are filled with desks, providing customers with plenty of places to read.

The second floor is different from the first floor. There are no tables, but many platforms that are a dozen centimeters higher than the ground. Customers who are tired of sitting downstairs can come up to the second floor, sit cross-legged on the platforms, lean against the wall or lie down to read.

Lin Leyao and Xin Ying went straight to a window seat on the second floor. There were no other customers in the bookstore, and the room was very quiet.

The window faces the streets of the old town, where many elderly people are already busy taking their children to school.

Lin Leyao leaned against the wall, looking down at the book in her hands. Time passed slowly. Suddenly, a noise came from downstairs, probably because a new guest had arrived.

Lin Leyao's attention was drawn away from her book. She suddenly noticed that Xin Ying, who had been silent beside her, was now in the same position as her, leaning against the wall with her head turned to look out the window at the street below.

In the morning, the busiest time of the day has passed. People going to work or school have already gone to their companies and schools. At this time, there are almost no pedestrians on the streets, only various shops that are open for business.

It's unclear how long Xin Ying has been watching, but she seems unaware of Lin Leyao's gaze, maintaining her current posture and staring unblinkingly at the scene below.

Lin Leyao followed her gaze and looked down. There was a chain convenience store downstairs. These kinds of convenience stores are found in almost every city, so there was nothing new about them. Lin Leyao was a little curious about what Xin Ying was looking at.

Xin Ying kept looking outside, while Lin Leyao rested her chin on her hand and stared at Xin Ying's dazed profile.

After a long time, Xin Ying suddenly turned her head and saw Lin Leyao staring straight at her.

Xin Ying was taken aback and asked, "What's wrong?"

Lin Leyao replied, "I saw you spacing out."

Xin Ying laughed and said, "What's so interesting about this? Let's continue reading."

Lin Leyao nodded and looked down at the book in her hands.

But this time, Lin Leyao didn't continue watching. After a while, she looked at Xin Ying again.

Xin Ying had recovered from staring blankly at the street outside the window and was now looking down at the book in her hands.

Lin Leyao stared at her blankly.

In the early hours of the morning, after showering, she and Xin Ying didn't go to sleep. They ate breakfast at the hotel and then went out.

Lin Leyao felt that she might not have slept well and her mind was not fully awake. At this moment, she could not concentrate on the book. Everything that happened in the hotel was clearly presented in her mind.

Xin Ying's behavior was rather strange when she returned from her business trip. Lin Leyao noticed her spacing out more than once.

Suddenly, the sound of tables and chairs being dragged downstairs woke Lin Leyao, who was watching Xin Ying.

Xin Ying glanced at her watch and said, "It's noon, let's go out for lunch."

Lin Leyao nodded, and the two left the bookstore for the restaurant.

The two did not drive; instead, they went to a restaurant near the bookstore, which was close by, so they walked there.

During the lunch break, there were more pedestrians on the road, and many people couldn't help but look at Xin Ying and Lin Leyao as they passed by.

On the short walk from the bookstore to the restaurant, Lin Leyao and Xin Ying held hands tightly.

Both women were wearing masks, so no one could see their faces clearly, but their tall and beautiful figures attracted a lot of attention even without showing their faces.

Passersby who see them for the first time can immediately tell that they are a couple without being told.

Spring has arrived, and the severe cold is gradually dissipating. A light rain fell last night, leaving the ground damp. The wind outside still carries a hint of chill, making Lin Leyao feel cold all over as it blows through her collar and cuffs.

Xin Ying stood in front, slightly shielding herself from the cold wind. Lin Leyao walked behind, staring intently at Xin Ying who was protecting her.

A cold wind blew in from all directions, and Xin Ying's shoulders trembled before she coughed twice, probably because she had caught a chill from the cold wind.

The wind was strong today, and Xin Ying's movements didn't really block it much. However, the warmth emanating from Xin Ying's hands, which were tightly clasped together, seeped inch by inch along her delicate skin into her entire body. A surge of heat filled Lin Leyao's chest; although the wind was cold, Lin Leyao felt warm all over.

Lin Leyao and Xin Ying held hands tightly until they sat down in the restaurant.

The two hadn't gone out on a date in a long time. Xin Ying briefly talked about her business trip, and Lin Leyao also talked about what happened when she went out with Iris these past few days.

The meal was short, and Xin Ying's phone rang several times, which she ignored each time.

Lin Leyao was talking about her dubbing session yesterday when Xin Ying's phone rang again.

Xin Ying's expression was not good. Just as she was about to hang up, Lin Leyao said, "Someone is urgently looking for you. Answer the phone."

Xin Ying paused as she was about to hang up, but this time she chose to answer.

Xin Ying didn't leave her seat; she answered the phone while still seated. Lin Leyao could only tell that the caller was a woman, but she couldn't make out what they were saying.

After listening to what the other party said, Xin Ying said, "Think of a contingency plan first, and I will give you an answer tonight."

After saying that, Xin Ying hung up the phone.

Lin Leyao asked, "About work?"

Xin Ying hummed in response, clearly feeling much worse after receiving the call.

"If you're in a hurry, go back to the company. You don't need to stay here with me."

Xin Ying immediately replied, "It's not a company matter."

After saying that, she paused quickly. Lin Leyao was also taken aback when she heard this. Before she could react, Xin Ying quickly said, "Besides, even donkeys that pull millstones need to rest, and I need to rest too. Don't worry, this matter is not urgent. We can deal with it when we get back tonight."

Lin Leyao nodded blankly, still puzzled by Xin Ying's earlier statement that it wasn't about the company.
