Young Prime Minister, a Hermit - Chapter 18
"Xu Lie..." I grimaced, almost bursting into tears, but then I thought, after two years in a coma, I'd be a 21-year-old married woman; what would it look like to cry like a child? I quickly held back, but still felt wronged, and pouted, "Xu Lie, I've messed up. I knocked someone's important documents into the water, and he asked me to type them into the computer, but I'm so clumsy; it took me ages to finish just one spreadsheet. Xu Lie, please help me!"
The other end of the phone went silent instantly. Just when I thought Xu Lie had hung up, his voice, on the verge of exploding, came through: "You're dreaming! I've never seen such a stupid woman like you. Get yourself back. If you're not back by eleven, then don't bother coming back!"
After saying that, there was a snap, and only a silent sound came from the phone's receiver.
I held back my tears for ages, but they finally fell. Today was already exhausting, hungry, and unlucky, and then I made Xu Lie so angry. How could I be so stupid? Wanting to be Lin Yu again? Maybe in my next life!
"Crying so soon?" Shao Junyi looked at me amusedly. "Women will be women. What happened, did your boyfriend scold you?"
"It's my husband!" I corrected him somewhat hesitantly.
"Oh? Husband?" He laughed mockingly. "But it seems you're not very favored; he doesn't care whether you live or die. Perhaps..."
"Ring ring..."
The phone in my hand vibrated, and I saw Xu Lie's name displayed on it. I hurriedly opened it and said, "I must get home before eleven o'clock."
"Where are you?" Xu Lie's somewhat dejected voice came through the receiver.
"Huh?" I was stunned.
"I asked you where you are?!" Xu Lie was completely enraged. "You have five seconds to tell me, or don't ever come see me again!"
"In...in Room 303 of the Dynasty Hotel..."
The phone slammed down again without warning. I stared blankly at my phone, then looked up to see Shao Junyi with a deep smile on his face. I sighed and resignedly continued typing those forms.
Five minutes later, a light knock came at the door. Shao Jun raised an eyebrow, stepped forward, and opened the door. I craned my neck to look out, but his tall figure and the door blocked my view.
Suddenly, Shao Junyi stepped back, revealing Xu Lie's handsome face and tall, agile figure behind the door. His forehead was slightly damp with sweat, his face was terrifyingly grim, and his eyes seemed to burn with fury.
“Xu Lie…” I shrank back pitifully, handing him a stack of crumpled papers. “There’s still so much left.”
Xu Lie gave me a cold glance, then turned to Shao Junyi: "I'll give you another copy of these documents tomorrow."
Shao Jun crossed his arms and looked at him with a strange smile: "I never thought she would be your wife."
Xu Lie ignored him, grabbed my wrist, and dragged me outside.
Shao Junyi blocked our way, his eyes fixed on Xu Lie, his gaze a mixture of jealousy, disgust, and excitement: "I never imagined that you, Xu Lie, would give up Xue'er and marry this woman."
Xu Lie's hand trembled violently as he grabbed my hand, his whole body stiffening as if frozen for a long time before he dragged me away without looking back.
I sighed and obediently followed behind him until we got home.
Back in ancient times, all was well. Zi Mo didn't get angry; he just smiled and told me to memorize the background knowledge and human geography of that era. Forced by circumstances, I spoke like a puppet in court in the mornings, and then frantically studied historical texts upon returning home.
To my surprise, Lin Yu's body had an exceptionally good memory. After struggling through several books, I discovered that I had an almost photographic memory.
This discovery really excited me, hehe, Zimo! Bring on all the historical data and information!
It's been almost a week, and I'm still switching between ancient and modern settings without any major ups and downs. Mr. Xu has completed the school enrollment procedures for me, but I still haven't decided which subject to study.
In ancient times, Yang Yi said that although the disaster situation in western Hunan had stabilized, it had attracted a surprise attack from the Fire Feather Kingdom, and a major war was imminent. He said that it would be necessary to send a minister to supervise the army, and this person must have the prestige and reputation to convince the generals. The implication was that the most suitable candidate was none other than Lin Yu.
That very night, I returned to the modern world. The instant I was back, I groggily opened my eyes, wanting to snuggle into Xu Lie's arms for warmth, only to find the space beside me empty. Then I remembered that Xu Lie had moved to the guest room to sleep after returning that night. He often avoided me during the day. I sighed, hugged myself tightly, and drifted back to sleep.
After waking up, I suddenly made a decision: I want to major in history.
In modern times, besides studying hard and making exquisite pastries, I really don't have any special skills, nor do I want to learn anything else. But it was different in ancient times; Lin Yu carried too many responsibilities and expectations. Thinking of Zi Mo carrying the wishes of thousands of years, thinking of Yi Han's unconditional trust, thinking of Yun Yan's poignant vision of the future, I think I should do something no matter what.
"History major?" Xu Lie happened to be there too. Hearing my words, he looked utterly astonished. "Why would you study history?"
I chuckled awkwardly and replied insincerely, "I've suddenly become interested in history."
"As long as you're happy, Galan." Mr. Xu chuckled like a Maitreya Buddha as he dialed the principal's number. After a brief call, he smiled kindly at me and said, "Report in three days. Any problems?"
"No." My mood immediately brightened. I didn't really know if studying history would help me with that unknown world, but I had made an effort after all.
"Lie'er, Jialan must be bored staying at home all day. Why don't you take her out to play today?"
"I'm not going!" Xu Lie refused impatiently.
My hopes and joy were dashed, and I hung my head in disappointment.
Xu Lie suddenly took two steps forward and stood in front of me, turning his eyes away from me, but said, "You really want to go?"
I nodded hurriedly, blinked, and looked up at him, practically wagging my tail.
Xu Lie sighed and said fiercely, "Change your clothes and come down quickly!"
"Yay—" I shouted with joy and ran upstairs, behind me I heard Mr. Xu's meaningful laughter.

Arriving at the crowded amusement park, I first felt ashamed of myself for even choosing such a tacky place.
