Chapitre 5

"Jay? Hmm, that sounds good."

"That's Jay!"

"Alright, that's enough of the digression. Let's get back to the main topic... Huh?"

David looked in surprise at the little head peeking in through the crack in the door.

"What's the matter?" Where did Jasmine go? Why did she let anyone in?

“Me…me?” Sisi pointed to her nose.

“Of course it’s you,” David nodded with amusement. “Could it be me?”

He let out a soft "Oh," then took several deep breaths, seemingly desperately gathering his courage. "Excuse me...excuse me, is this...the CEO's office?"

“That’s right, I’m the vice president, and the one admiring the scenery is the president.” David gestured behind him with his thumb.

"I... well... I want to... appeal, is that alright?"

"An appeal?" David shrugged. "Okay, come in and talk to me."

She hesitated for a moment, then slowly moved halfway in. After seeing David nod and smile encouragingly at her, she walked in again.

"What is it? Speak up," David said, maintaining his smile.

"I...I want to appeal."

"I know."

"I'm an employee of Seth, my name is Xixi..."

Joel suddenly gripped the armrests of the chair tightly with both hands, so hard that the veins on the back of his hands stood out.

Good heavens, it's her! She's finally appeared!

The overwhelming emotions surged within him like a raging torrent, nearly causing him to collapse and be overwhelmed. He took deep breaths, trying to suppress all the impulsive thoughts.

David nearly fell under the table. "Sisi, is your name Sisi?" He turned around to look at his older brother in shock, but there was no response. Wasn't it her?

"Yes, my name is Xixi. Is there something wrong with that?" Sisi asked, puzzled.

No way? Even the vice president is placing an order? That's outrageous!

“No, nothing’s wrong,” David couldn’t help but glance back at his older brother one last time.

"Go on."

Sisi gave him a suspicious look. "First of all, I want to make it clear that I have no particular ill will towards the company. However, even though I am only Seth's most junior employee, there's no reason for me to become a servant shared by the entire company, is there?" she said emphatically.

David paused slightly, "A maid?"

“Yes! A maid. I didn’t come to Seth to do laundry, clean, or be a nanny.”

As Sisi spoke, she grew bolder and more indignant.

"Laundry? Nanny?" David repeated incredulously.

"Yes! There's also washing cars, tutoring, delivering flowers, flattering the boss's girlfriend, and buying jewelry for the manager's mistress." She didn't hold back in exposing her boss's dirty laundry.

David's mouth dropped open. "Car wash? Teacher? Mistress?"

Sisi narrowed her eyes suddenly. "Hey! Vice President, are you a parrot?"

“Parrot… Ah, sorry, please continue.” David heard faint laughter coming from behind him.

"Fine! In short, I am not a slave, so please don't make me do slave work. Of course, it would be best to teach those who are courting death and will keep ordering me around a lesson too," Sisi said brazenly. Since she anticipated no good outcome, she had nothing to hold back; she wouldn't hesitate to vent her anger if given the chance.

"So, what do you think should be done?" A deep, hoarse voice came from behind the high chair.

"Huh? So you're not mute after all! Thank goodness!" Sisi exclaimed happily. Hmph! The Hidden Mirror Man? But why does that voice sound so familiar? Hmm, she must have misheard.

Joel's pleasant, magnetic laughter rang out. "How would you like to handle this?"

Strange, I feel like I've heard that laughter somewhere before! Sisi thought to herself, then shook her head, thinking she must have misheard it again.

"You're the CEO, so of course it's your decision. However, if you really want to ask me, I can give you some honest advice: you must give those bastard employees a good beating, while responsible and excellent employees like me deserve a proper reward."

A burst of cheerful laughter suddenly filled the office. "Great, I'm glad I made you all laugh!"

A slight grumble of dissatisfaction.

“Okay, I accept your suggestion.” Joel’s words still held a lingering smile.

"Huh? Really? Just like that?" The other party was too straightforward, making Sisi a little hesitant.

"That's right, I'm thinking of promoting you?"

"What? Promotion? Great, of course! You're truly brilliant. No wonder you're the CEO, you have such great manners!" To everyone's surprise, Sisi quickly showered them with compliments.

"Okay, since you agree, then it's a promotion. But what kind of promotion should we give you?"

"Whatever, whatever, I'm very easygoing," Sisi waved her hand dismissively. "As long as it's high-class and easy enough, and I don't have to be suppressed or ordered around anymore, that's fine."

"Is that so? That's perfect. There's a position that's just right for you. It's high-level and easy enough that you won't be suppressed or ordered around by anyone."

The CEO's voice was very serious, as if he wasn't making it up. But why wouldn't he turn around? And why was the vice president laughing again? Sisi couldn't help but start to have doubts. "Really? What kind of position is so suitable for me?"

"The President's wife."
