Chapitre 25

David, however, held the elevator button and pulled Philip inside as well. "Quick! More people means a faster search!"

Stunned, Jasmine watched as the company's three top executives vanished in an instant, as if their pants were on fire. She glanced back at An Ting, who was standing at the door of the president's office.

She swallowed nervously. "They... well, something came up, maybe... maybe they'll be back soon."

An Ting stared at Jasmine with a strange expression.

"Perhaps... President Lambeth would like to reschedule for another day..."

An Ting shook her head. "No, I'll wait for them." Persistence is one of the essentials for success, especially when the target is so "high-value," it's worth spending more time and effort on it.

Jasmine was helpless; she was just a lowly secretary.

“Alright, then please, President Lan Bai…” Jasmine suddenly fell silent, staring wide-eyed at Sisi who appeared from the regular elevator. Sisi was holding a bag of fruit in her left hand and leisurely munching on a pear in her right.

"Hi, Jasmine, want one?"

Jasmine still stared at the ground in disbelief.

“Okay, you don’t want to,” Sisi shrugged. “They’re all gone?”

Jasmine glared at her unhappily.

Sisi blinked innocently. "I was just going to buy some fruit!"

Jasmine continued to stare at her with narrowed eyes.

"Really!" Si lied without batting an eye. "And give them a little scare while we're at it." She stuck out her tongue and muttered under her breath, then glanced at An Ting out of the corner of her eye. "Oh, are you still going to wait? They... might not be back until very late." She grabbed a chair and sat down next to Jasmine, offering An Ting a very "friendly" suggestion.

An Ting's face was extremely pale, and she turned around stiffly and went back to the president's office.

"Serves you right!" Sisi made a face at the closed CEO office door. "Who taught you to be so arrogant!" Turning around, she saw Jasmine about to speak, so she quickly stuffed a strawberry into her mouth.

"Don't meddle in things that don't concern you, especially when someone calls to ask me about them, understand?"

I've never seen such a stubborn person!

How much longer is she going to wait? It's been so long since she got off work, and Jasmine has already gone home. Is she really going to keep waiting like this?

Sisi impatiently walked to the office door and knocked. Without waiting for a response, she opened the door and entered. Anting was sitting on the sofa, flipping through documents. Her briefcase was open on the low table, and her cell phone was beside her. It was clear she hadn't wasted any time on her work.

"What's up?"

"President Lanbo, don't you have a sense of time? It's past eight o'clock, everyone in the building has left, are you still going to wait?" Sisi said irritably.

An Ting lowered her head again to study the documents in her hands. "Aren't you waiting too?"

Sisi chuckled, finding it amusing. "Really? You're not...really?" She strolled leisurely to Joel's high-backed chair, took off her shoes again, and sat cross-legged.

An Ting put down the documents and scrutinized Si Si carefully. "Who exactly are you?"

"Me?" Sisi smiled noncommittally. "Just look at me, I'm not anyone important. But you... why do you insist on discussing the contract terms with Joel? David could do it too!"

“You have no right to ask me that question,” An Ting said, maintaining her authoritative and condescending tone.

Sisi was utterly disgusted by her condescending attitude! "Is that so? Then I'll..."

The phone on Jasmine's desk rang outside the office. Sisi instinctively picked up the phone on Joel's desk and answered, "Hello, Seth... Ah!" She slammed the phone down, then awkwardly laughed at the surprised Antine, "Hehe, caught!"

She kindly warned Anting, "They might be very angry. Don't you want to slip away first?"

An Ting looked at her thoughtfully. "Did they go out to look for you?"

"I think so." Sisi shrugged.

An Ting didn't drive back, but just kept staring at Si Si thoughtfully, while Si Si bit her lower lip and stared anxiously at the door. Time passed second by second, and Si Si grew increasingly uneasy…

The two office doors were flung open with a bang, and three men burst in like avengers.

Disheveled and dejected, Joel walked straight to the desk, placed his hands on the surface, and stared at Sisi, who was huddled in a ball in the high-backed chair.

"What exactly do you want from me?" His tone was like that of a defeated soldier, dejected and helpless. "Tell me, what exactly do you want from me? To rip my heart out and give it to you? Sure! Just say the word, and I'll definitely do it!"

She flinched slightly. "I...I didn't...want you to do anything?"

Joel sighed deeply. "Alright, then tell me, why did you do this?"

Sisi secretly glanced at An Ting, who looked astonished. "She... is so arrogant, and... looks down on me, and is so mean to me, so... so I just wanted to... want her to... want her to never see you again." She felt An Ting's horrified gaze fixed on her and couldn't help but lower her head and stick out her tongue.

"That's it?" Joel stared at her in disbelief, Sisi's head almost glued to her chest.

"Good heavens!" David slumped onto the sofa, while Philip leaned against the door with his mouth agape.

Joel wearily wiped his face and looked at Anting.

"Baby, come here." Seeing that Sisi didn't dare to move, he lowered his voice and spoke again. "Baby, come here, okay?"

After a moment's hesitation, Sisi finally put her feet down very slowly and walked barefoot to him. She kept her head down the whole time, looking like a child who had done something wrong and was waiting to be punished.

Joel reached out and lifted her chin. Seeing the regret on her face, he shook his head and sighed. "Just tell me next time, and I'll do what you want." He leaned down and gently kissed her lips before turning to An Ting, who seemed a little lost.

“Miss Lamb, please allow me to introduce my wife, Cecilia Rox.”

An Ting's eyes widened suddenly. "You...your wife?"

“Yes, my wife,” Joel repeated affirmatively, looking down at Sisi with deep affection. “I’m sorry, I think she’s a little mischievous.”

Sisi shrank back slightly, and Joel held her hand tightly in comfort.
