Kapitel 5

Lu Ziming was clearly unhappy. He remained silent for a long time before saying, "I went to the hospital. Your friend Yingqi just had an accident."

"How is it?" Qin Jin asked anxiously.

"But it's okay, she was just overstimulated and is currently undergoing psychological treatment. It's only temporary, so don't worry."

"Where is she now?" Qin Jin asked worriedly.

Lu Ziming said with difficulty, "In a mental hospital."

Upon hearing this, Qin Jin leaned back, unable to bear the sudden blow.

Why?

"She kept saying she saw her dead friend, and she was desperately trying to gouge out her own eyes, saying she was going to replace them for Lan Qi. We had no choice but to tie her up and take her to a professional for treatment." Lu Ziming's voice was tinged with pity, because when he arrived, the woman named Ying Qi had already gone mad, desperately digging her eyes out with her fingernails. If the nurse hadn't discovered it early, her eyeballs would probably be gone.

As she was being taken away, she kept muttering the word "dig," her pink fingernails stained with her own blood, yet she continued to make digging gestures. Most terrifyingly, she kept pulling at her hair, as if she wanted to rip it all out, or as if someone was trying to peel her scalp off.

Such a gentle woman was terrifying when she went mad; even Lu Ziming felt a chill run down his spine when he saw her. He had seen too many terrible things, but this incident made him feel a strange coldness that rushed from his feet to the top of his head. Looking at Yingqi, who was bleeding and had an injured eye, he always wanted to hide.

He almost laughed at himself for his cowardice.

However, this time, his intuition told him that this was not a simple suicide case, but that someone was trying to harm Lan Qi and Ying Qi in secret, but he had no clues at all.

He frowned. When Qin Jin asked to see Ying Qi on the phone, he refused, explaining that Ying Qi was emotionally unstable and shouldn't be disturbed. Actually, he couldn't bear to see Qin Jin suffer any more. Seeing her friend now would be even more painful for her than seeing Lan Qi's body back then.

Qin Jin walked sadly out of the shop, silently strolling along the street as the lights came on, thinking of Tang Shishi and wondering how she was doing. Lan Qi had died tragically, and Ying Qi had been admitted to a mental hospital. The laughter was gone; only the beautiful little cat in her arms still warmed her embrace.

She walked back with her head down. The road was very dark; the streetlights were broken, and she should contact the management office to have them fixed.

Suddenly, the black cat in her arms poked its head out restlessly, looking around erratically and trying desperately to break free from Qin Jin's grasp and go outside. She sensed someone beside her, but when she looked back, there was no one there. She tensed up; so many things that had happened had made her exceptionally sensitive, and she felt an invisible killing intent approaching her.

Qin Jin has had an extraordinary sixth sense since she was a child. She can always sense when something is about to happen. She feels that she is in danger. Could there be a thief on this road?

This stretch of road was particularly strange today. It was deserted as soon as it got dark, and there was a disgusting smell of blood everywhere. She became nervous and started running.

Although there were no footsteps, Hei Bao became increasingly nervous, and the fur on its back stood up. Qin Jin also felt a powerful pressure approaching him.

Her eyes were getting increasingly uncomfortable, and everything was blurry when she looked at things. She had no choice but to rub her eyes, which only made things worse. It felt like a bunch of tiny insects had gotten into her eyes, making them incredibly itchy. She even considered throwing Hei Bao on the ground and rubbing her eyes vigorously for a while. However, Hei Bao's screams told her that she couldn't do that. The cat seemed very afraid of leaving her embrace and kept rubbing against her face, trying to stop her from touching her eyes.

However, her eyes were getting more and more uncomfortable. Just when she was about to throw away the black shoe, the pressure suddenly disappeared and her eyes were no longer uncomfortable. She desperately opened her eyes and, by the faint moonlight, saw the pair of sneakers playing a 2-2 rhythm.

This was the first time she felt that the 2/2 time signature wasn't so bad. She looked up and saw Ke Liang looking at her disdainfully in front of her.

"Qin Xiaomi, you naughty girl, coming home so late. Your cat was so cute, I wasn't scared at all. I have to explain this to you, otherwise you might misunderstand me as a coward. My family has been famous Taoist masters for three generations! Taoist masters!"

As Ke Liang shook his body, he repeatedly explained to Qin Jin, and Qin Jin's sad mood was swept away by Ke Liang.

"Serves you right, who told you to always misunderstand me as a garbage collector?" Qin Jin thought to herself.

She decided to ignore the guy and go home, but Ke Liang kept following her and talking to her. She got angry and raised Hei Bao in a threatening gesture. He backed away and said, "Hmph, I'm just allergic to cats. Who's afraid of it?"

Hei Bao had calmed down and was even eager to jump onto Ke Liang. No wonder, she was a female cat, and Ke Liang was quite the handsome guy!

Ke Liang followed Qin Jin all the way to Qin Jin's house.

After Qin Jin entered the building, he quickly slammed the door shut, while the echo of "Free, free" still lingered around him. He really didn't know who could stand that hooligan man, the Taoist priest, humph, the pretentious charlatan.

After taking a shower, she lay down on the bed. She was exhausted after a long day and her nerves were too tense. She needed to relax for a while. She quickly drifted off to sleep.

In a daze, she seemed to have come to a forest, and she seemed to hear a voice calling her.

She walked forward, the leaves rustling softly, the moonlight pale, the mountain path difficult to traverse, yet that sound was gently drifting towards her.

Following the sound, she saw a very large tree, which looked beautiful in the moonlight. The sound seemed to be coming from inside the tree. Just as she was about to go over and take a look, she heard a sharp cat meow.

She woke up; it turned out it was just a dream.

She turned her head and saw a fluffy thing crouching on her pillow, which startled her, causing her to scream. The scream woke the thing, and it moved slightly. Sure enough, it was Blackie. She was furious and sat up, staring at the kitten.

However, Blackie stared at her with wide eyes, and she couldn't bear to be angry, so she had no choice but to let it be.

Chapter Seven: Night Dream (1)

Qin Jin got up very early; she had to go see Tang Shishi, but the weather wasn't cooperating. When she opened the window, the sky was gloomy, just like her current mood.

When it was time to leave, Hei Bao insisted on jumping on her and coming with her. She had no choice but to pick up the cat carrier and put Hei Bao inside. Qin Jin thought: Well, it's good to let Tang Shishi see her pet; it might cheer her up.

The taxi stopped in front of Tang Shishi's house. The doorbell rang, and a maid came out to open the door. Upon seeing Qin Jin, she said to her, "You've come at the right time. Miss is acting a bit strange today. She didn't sleep at all last night. It's really odd."

Holding Hei Bao, she handed the cat basket to the maid and went straight into Tang Shishi's room.

The heavy floor-length curtains were drawn tightly shut, and the room was dark, with only a faint light seeping in from a crack in the door. Qin Jin frowned; it was extremely uncomfortable.

In the darkness, only one person could be seen sitting on the sofa.

She knew it was Tang Shishi, so she went straight to the windowsill and tried to open the curtains.

A hoarse voice rang out: "No, I don't want to see the light."

Qin Jin gave up and sat down opposite Shi Shi. She saw Shi Shi leaning against the sofa, smoking, with smoke everywhere. After her eyes adjusted to the dim light, she could see the tear tracks on Shi Shi's face. Her lipstick was wiped off, and she could tell from the dark circles under her eyes that she hadn't slept all night.

She didn't say anything. As a longtime friend, she truly understood her feelings. Words failed her at that moment, and she felt defeated.

The question is, what defeated them?

One of them died inexplicably, and the other went insane. How are the two of them supposed to face each other?

Qin Jin reached out and gently grasped Tang Shishi's left hand, a chilling sensation making her shiver.

"Shishi, you turned the air conditioning up so high, look how cold you are!"

"No, I didn't turn on the air conditioner."

Tang Shishi sighed and said, "Maybe it's because I'm cold inside. I never thought this would happen to me. But it's strange, I've felt a chill on my back all day, like an ice block on it."

Qin Jin then noticed that Shi Shi hadn't taken off her beautiful red cheongsam, which emitted a strange glow in the dim light.

"Jin, you didn't see how crazy Yingqi was. She was pulling her hair up like someone was dangling it from the air. And she kept calling out Lan Qi's name, saying that Lan Qi had asked her for her eyes. It was terrifying!"

Tang Shishi finally burst into tears. She collapsed into Qin Jin's arms, trembling as she said, "Jin, I'm so scared. I don't know why, but I feel like I'm next. I'm so afraid, there's a kind of fear that I can't shake off."

"What nonsense are you talking about? Why should you be next? Lan Qi committed suicide, don't get upset by that too!"

"No, Qin Jin, don't forget, we both have a very strong sixth sense. We've been able to sense what's going to happen since we were little, which is probably a big reason why we've become such good friends! I really feel it, I'm next!"

Qin Jin felt terrible. Lan Qi had just died, Ying Qi had gone mad, and now even Tang Shishi was bringing up some childhood sixth sense. She almost wanted to curse God. What kind of script was this, making them suffer so much during filming?

Tang Shishi was crying shrilly in her room; she must have been under too much pressure!

Qin Jin could only keep patting her shoulder. She wanted to cry too, but if she collapsed now, who would protect Shishi?

Tang Shishi slowly wrapped her arms around Qin Jin's neck, but just as she was about to do so, Hei Bao in Qin Jin's arms jumped up, startling Shishi.

Qin Jin called out, "Hei Bao."

Hei Bao glared fiercely at Shi Shi, looking as if he wanted to protect Qin Jin, and made a hissing sound in his throat.

Qin Jin lowered her head to tease Hei Bao, who was throwing a tantrum as if it had been greatly wronged. While hugging it, she said, "What's wrong, Hei Bao? Why are you throwing a tantrum? You can't bite people randomly, you know?"

Just as she was forcing a smile and trying to amuse Hei Bao, her movements suddenly froze.

She saw Hei Bao's eyes fixed intently on Shi Shi.

Blackie was a very beautiful cat with big eyes, one blue and the other pink. The pink eye had a captivating glow, Qin Jin's favorite color. But now, that color had become a nightmare.

Tang Shishi's image was clearly reflected in the pink pupils, but there wasn't just one image; another figure swayed along with Tang Shishi. And that figure was currently on Shishi's back, with its head resting on Shishi's head and its arms draped over her shoulders.

She was a woman with long hair.

Startled, Qin Jin looked up at Shi Shi and saw her sitting quietly in a corner of the sofa, rubbing her eyes. Looking down at Hei Bao's eyes, she saw two figures reflected in his pink eyes.

The shock took Qin Jin's breath away. She froze, her mind blank, only able to hold Hei Bao tightly.

Tang Shishi's figure became clearer in Hei Bao's eyes. Shishi was bending down to look at Hei Bao, while Qin Jin dared not look at her anymore, and could only look into Hei Bao's eyes while trembling.

Yes, Tang Shishi was carrying someone on her back, a long-haired woman. Blood was flowing down her snow-white arms, but her face was not clearly visible. Her long hair reached around Tang Shishi's eyes, and some of it had already pierced into Shishi's eyes.

Tang Shishi moved even closer: "Let me take a good look at this cat, it's really interesting!"

Cold sweat dripped down Qin Jin's face. She dared not move because the woman on Tang Shishi's back made a move. She was gently raising her hand and extending her middle and index fingers in the air, making a "digging" gesture.

Tang Shishi then added, "This cat's eyes are so strange! I really want to gouge them out and take a look."

Shishi's left hand had somehow picked up the fruit knife on the table.

Qin Jin's legs went weak, but then she saw Hei Bao fly up and pounce on Shi Shi's face. Shi Shi was shocked and dodged away.

Hei Bao turned around again and threw himself into Qin Jin's arms.

Qin Jin looked at Shi Shi with a cold sweat on her brow, cleared her throat, and said with difficulty, "It's getting late, I have something to do today, I'll be leaving now."

Tang Shishi didn't try to stop her, but said with a pale face, "That was so strange just now, how could I have had the thought of gouging out a cat's eyes? I guess I've gone mad too, being so cruel!"

She stood up, touched her back, and said, "My back feels cool and heavy. I'm going to the bathroom."

Shishi walked towards the restroom. Tang Shishi quickly looked down at Hei Bao, whose eyes had indeed never left her. In his pink pupils, the head of the figure on her back was resting on Shishi's head, with its arms wrapped around her neck, slowly turning its head as if to look at her.

She quickly sat up straight, not daring to look into Hei Bao's eyes anymore. She raised her head to face Tang Shishi, who slowly turned her head back and said, "It's really strange. My eyes are very itchy today, like little bugs have gotten in them. I really want to take them out and wash them clean."

After saying that, she gave a strange smile and went into the bathroom.

After watching her close the door, Qin Jin let out a long sigh, picked up the cat, and ran out quickly. She opened the door and knocked over the maid who brought in coffee. She didn't even care about the cat basket anymore; she knew nothing but running.

She ran wildly through the street, oblivious to traffic lights, until a stinging pain on her face brought her back to reality. Blackie had scratched her face with its claws; warm blood trickled down her cheek like a red teardrop. If it weren't for Blackie's attack, she might have lost her mind, run into the middle of the road, and been hit by a car. Blackie saved her.

Qin Jin stood trembling on the street. From a very young age, her grandmother would tell her many supernatural stories, and she had always believed that the world was full of wonders. However, believing was one thing, actually seeing it was another. Moreover, her sixth sense told her that Tang Shishi was in danger, and that she herself wouldn't be in much better shape.

She dared not go back to save Shishi because she felt that powerful chill. She was powerless and could only call the maid and ask her to keep a close eye on Shishi.

Clutching her savior cat, Hei Bao, she hailed a taxi and sped home. She thought of that Er Er Pai (a type of folk song), that exorcist from a family of ghost hunters, and Ke Liang, whom she disliked.

Chapter 8 Carrying People (1)

Qin Jin rummaged through the house and finally found the life-saving white piece of paper in the corner of the sofa. It had the words "Ke Liang" written on it in large letters. Now she had no choice but to try anything. The call went through. She simply said "Ke Liang," and a scream came from the other end of the phone: "Xiao Mi, you called me! Don't you believe I'm not afraid of cats?" Sigh, could this be a third-generation ghost-hunting master? It seemed she was in deep trouble this time. However, Ke Liang arrived quickly.

As soon as the doorbell rang, Qin Jin, who was in a complete panic, rushed to the door.

Standing outside the door was a guy wearing cool sunglasses, a sharp black suit, and carrying a large bag.

Qin Jin shook his head as he opened the door and said to Ke Liang, "I only asked you to catch ghosts, not to act in The Matrix. You really don't have to be so dramatic."
