Chapitre 2

Realizing Xu Chacha's plea for help, her adoptive parents quickened their pace of packing up, wanting to leave before the students realized something was wrong.

After buying the melons, Wen Mubai didn't actually go far. He just turned into an alley and stopped, then unfolded the sweat-soaked banknote.

On the crumpled one-yuan banknote, three words were written crookedly in black charcoal.

Without the slightest hesitation, Wen Mubai immediately dialed a number on his phone, then turned his head to observe Xu Chacha and the others' actions through the glass window across the street.

Seeing that Xu Chacha was quickly pulled up and pushed back by her adoptive father, she left a message for her classmate and immediately followed.

The police station was nearby, so they responded quickly. Wen Mubai turned on his phone's location tracking, and they soon tracked him down.

A male and a female police officer arrived in a patrol car. "You're the one who called the police?"

Wen Mubai grunted in agreement, handed them the banknotes with writing on them, and then pointed to Xu Chacha's staggering figure, "That's the girl on the other side of the bridge. She might have been raped; she has injuries on her body."

When the policewoman saw that it was a tiny girl and heard Wen Mubai say that she was injured, she stepped on the gas and approached the three of them without saying a word.

Hearing a commotion behind him from afar, the adoptive father turned around and saw police cars chasing after him. Without hesitation, he dropped what he was holding and ran away.

The foster mother next to her probably couldn't bear to leave Xu Chacha behind, so she grabbed her arm and dragged her along. Her eyes were fixed on the tricycle not far away. As long as she got on the tricycle, there would still be a chance to take Xu Chacha with her.

Xu Chacha looked in the direction of the tricycle, shook her head in horror, and tried her best to shake off her. She tried to pry her fingers off with all her might, but the strength of a child was no match for that of a farmer who worked in the fields every day. She was dragged along, and her cloth shoes left a glaring drag mark on the cement ground.

Seeing this, Wen Mubai, who was running towards them, twitched her eyelids. She untied the sun-protective jacket tied around her waist and ran faster towards Xu Chacha.

"Sister! Sister, save me! I don't want to go with her! She's not my mother!" Xu Chacha cried out in distress.

The little girl's voice was filled with heart-wrenching sobs, her fair face and neck were red from crying, and tears kept falling from her bright red eyes. Her repeated calls of "sister" were like invisible fists hitting the softest part of Wen Mubai's heart.

She thought to herself that if she could save this girl, she would do anything for her.

As long as she's alright.

Xu Chacha was dragged a few steps, her feet burning with pain from the friction, but she still refused to give up.

The crying and shouting released too much of her emotions and energy. Her head was buzzing. Through her blurry, tearful eyes, she saw the tricycle getting closer and closer, and a sense of despair spread through her heart.

Suddenly, a pair of hands tightly encircled her from behind, and she felt herself being lifted up. The chest behind her was rising and falling slightly, and Wen Mubai's breathless voice rang out firmly above her head.

"let go."

At this moment, Wen Mubai's eyes and expression were filled with hostility as she coldly stabbed her adoptive mother. Despite being only a seventeen-year-old girl, she possessed an undeniable aura and charisma.

The adoptive mother didn't react for a moment, then tugged hard at Xu Chacha's arm, "Give me back my daughter! She's my daughter, and none of you can take her away from me!"

When she exerted herself, she was like a mad wild boar, her strength savage and unreasonable. Xu Chacha, whom she was pulling, was shaken back and forth like a rag doll.

Meanwhile, the police in the car had caught up with the adoptive father. As soon as the car stopped, the policewoman holding a baton shouted at the adoptive mother, "Put the child down! If anything happens to her, I'll make sure you spend the rest of your life in jail!"

The word "jail" seemed to trigger something in her adoptive mother. She shook her head in a daze, then glanced fearfully at her husband, whose hands were already handcuffed. A sense of despair, as if the dust had settled, belatedly crept over her.

"I don't want to go to jail! I don't want to go to jail! She's my child, she's my child! I'm not a kidnapper!"

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Wen Mubai grabbed Xu Chacha's arm from her hand and gasped when he saw the shocking bloodstains on it caused by fingernails.

Xu Chacha's body was still trembling. She seemed to feel no pain at all, and she reached out to hug Wen Mubai's neck, burying her head in his arms.

Wen Mubai gently hugged her back, offering silent comfort.

"Sister... Sister..." Xu Chacha called out to her breathlessly, her voice filled with uncontrollable sobs.

Wen Mubai understood her feelings and silently patted the little girl's back. Feeling Xu Chacha trembling under her palm, she said, "Don't be afraid, your older sister is here."

"Yes, I'll listen to you, sister. I'm not afraid." Xu Chacha wiped away her tears, her eyes red from being rubbed by her rough clothes, but she still held Wen Mubai tightly. "I thought I was going to die today."

Wen Mubai's eyes darkened; she found it difficult to describe her feelings at that moment.

Look at Xu Chacha's height, she's not even up to my waist. A child this young probably still thinks of the word "death" as flying into the sky and becoming a star.

But Xu Chacha, standing before him, spoke in such an unguarded voice, uttering the chilling words, "I'm doomed."

Recalling the sinister look in the man's eyes when he looked at Xu Chacha, Wen Mubai didn't think Xu Chacha was exaggerating at all.

She dared not imagine what a terrifying hell this child would have faced had she not asked that extra question and not snatched Xu Chacha from that woman's hands.

Wen Mubai's gaze was filled with many complex emotions. He gently wiped away Xu Chacha's tears by rubbing his fingers on her dirty face. "Don't cry. I will protect you. Also, what are you doing learning those unlucky words, you little brat?"

"Okay, I won't say it again."

"Mmm, good girl." Wen Mubai looked at her with tender eyes.

Xu Chacha hugged her and cried for a while. Her sobs gradually slowed down. She blinked her eyelashes, which were still covered with tears, and then suddenly took Wen Mubai's hand in her hands. Under the other's puzzled gaze, she lowered her head and kissed the back of her hand with her soft lips.

Wen Mubai: "What are you doing?"

"Sister, I will repay you for the rest of my life. When I grow up, I will protect you!" Xu Chacha raised her teary eyes and said earnestly.

Wen Mubai was stunned for a few seconds by her actions. She looked into the girl's clear eyes, which were full of sincerity, and then felt a warm touch on the back of her hand a beat later.

That tingling feeling in my heart came back, making my breathing feel sluggish.

After a long while, a smile finally escaped her lips as she raised her hand to ruffle Xu Chacha's messy hair. "Okay, I'll wait for you to grow up."

Since Xu Chacha and Wen Mubai were the parties involved, after receiving simple treatment for their arm injuries, they also needed to go to the police station to prepare for giving statements.

"Sit down first, I'll get you some water." Wen Mubai carried Xu Chacha to a chair and patted her head.

This little one was more mentally resilient than she had imagined. Apart from a few sobs at the beginning, she didn't cry once on the way back.

Xu Chacha nodded vigorously, her short legs, which couldn't reach the ground, wobbled, "I'll sit here obediently and won't run around."

Wen Mubai couldn't resist and gently pinched her chubby cheeks, his voice soft, "Mmm, you're the best girl."

She went to the water dispenser, filled a glass with warm water, and looked up to see the policewoman who had responded earlier leading people in. The couple were loudly repeating that they were innocent.

"Her injury was from an accidental fall! Why did you drag me here for something so trivial! Let me go!"

"Yes, yes, how could we parents possibly abuse our children?"

The policewoman didn't even bother to listen. She looked up and shoved the man into the interrogation room. "If you're innocent, why did you run faster than a rabbit? Stop talking nonsense and tell me everything."

The sound gradually faded as the interrogation room door closed. Wen Mubai withdrew his gaze and looked at Xu Chacha, who was sitting in the chair. The little girl's face had lost its previous ease, and her two little fists were clenched tightly as she looked warily in the direction of the two people.

She walked over quickly and placed a glass of warm water on the table. "It's okay, the policewoman will help you punish them."

Xu Chacha turned around, her eyes having quietly turned red again. She reached out and grasped Wen Mubai's hands, her soft voice hiding a cautious timidity, "Sister, can you stay with me?"

The little girl's hands were soft and slightly sweaty, perhaps out of fear that she would leave; her grip was tight, so tight that Wen Mubai could feel her slight trembling.

Wen Mubai didn't pull his hand away. He casually pulled a chair over from the side, sat down next to Xu Chacha, and then squeezed her small hand back. Xu Chacha's hands were very small; one of her palms could cover both of them. "Sister won't leave. I'll stay with you until your parents come."

"Okay." WeChat ID: lesbian2088, all yuri resources are available.

After crying and running around all day, Xu Chacha's nerves were already stretched to the limit. Only after receiving Wen Mubai's promise did she feel a little more at ease. She sat quietly next to him without making a sound.

She needed to sort out her thoughts. Now that she was halfway out of her misery, the next step was to find the original owner's richest parents.

But here's the problem: the original author must have been extremely lazy, because throughout the entire book, the richest couple are only referred to as "Father Xu" and "Mother Xu," without ever having given them proper names.

Furthermore, the book states that she was only three years old when she was abducted, so she should not have any memories. It's highly implausible that she would rush up to the police and say that she is the long-lost daughter of the richest man but does not remember his name.

Wen Mubai, who was standing to the side, had no idea what Xu Chacha was thinking. Seeing her frowning, he assumed she was still scared.

Although she had a half-sister, their relationship wasn't good, and she had no experience taking care of children. For a moment, she didn't know what to say to make Xu Chacha happy.

By the way, kids probably all like to eat sweets.

Wen Mubai reached into her pocket. Luckily, she had a habit of carrying chocolate with her to replenish her energy, and she still had five or six pieces left.

The chocolate wrapper was made of thin gold foil paper, nestled in her fair palm, and held up to Xu Chacha's eyes.

"Is it for me?" Xu Chacha wiped away her tears.

Wen Mubai nodded.

"Then I'll pick one, and you can eat the rest, sister." Xu Chacha seemed much happier. She stretched out her chubby little hand and touched a few chocolates with her fingers.

“The matcha one looks delicious.” Xu Chacha smiled, picked out the matcha one, and put it into Wen Mubai’s other hand. “Sister, have this one.”

Then she picked up the rest, saying, "Cha Cha, eat this."

Wen Mubai smiled without saying anything, put the others back, then unwrapped the matcha chocolate, gently pinched it with his slender fingers, and brought it to Xu Chacha's lips.

"Don't you like it, sister?" Xu Chacha asked, puzzled.

Wen Mubai shook his head. "If you like it, then you can eat it."

Xu Chacha paused for a moment, then seemed to understand something, and broke into a big smile, looking sweet and well-behaved.

"Um!"

Much later, when Xu Chacha thought back to the first time she met Wen Mubai, all she could remember was the sweet taste of that chocolate.

However, at this time, Xu Chacha was unaware that she and Wen Mubai would have a "long time to go" ahead.

Chapter 3

The police station acted quickly, and after questioning the two, they began to deal with Xu Chacha's accommodation issue.

Since we don't know who her parents are yet, we can only try to find them by publishing Xu Chacha's photos. According to regulations, she will be placed in the nearest children's welfare home until her parents arrive.

After the policewoman finished speaking, she thought Xu Chacha would give some reaction, whether it was crying or laughing, but she sat there like a lifeless puppet, looking like she had been abandoned.

Wen Mubai noticed the change in her mood and tightened his grip on her hand. "What's wrong?"

"Can I go with you, sister?" Xu Chacha clutched Wen Mubai's clothes, her red eyes looking up. "Sister, I want to be with you. I don't want to go to the orphanage."

She had lived in an orphanage for a period of time in her previous life, and to be honest, her memories of that place weren't very good.

"Little girl, don't be afraid," the policewoman comforted her gently. "The policewoman knows the teachers at the orphanage. They're very kind and will take good care of you."

Xu Chacha held onto Wen Mubai tightly, wrinkling her tear-reddened nose, "My sister is a very nice person, she will take good care of me."

After saying that, she asked Wen Mubai somewhat uncertainly, "Sister, Cha Cha will be very good and won't cause you any trouble. You won't abandon Cha Cha, right?"

Wen Mubai met her watery eyes and blurted out the words almost without thinking, "My sister said she would stay with you until your parents come."

The police officer said to Wen Mubai with some difficulty, "We know that this little girl may trust you because you just rescued her, but you are not qualified to be a guardian. Besides, it is not in accordance with the rules to just put a lost child in someone else's care."

"Cha Cha understands." Xu Cha Cha gently shook her head. "Then let's forget it. Cha Cha can't trouble her sister."

As a complete stranger, Wen Mubai had already done more than enough for her.
