"Mommy's fierce, Mommy won't feed him, Mommy will even hit Momo, his white bottom." Qiu Su was embarrassed.
Mo Mo fiddled with the hem of her clothes, pouting as she continued to complain, "Mommy doesn't talk about rabbits, Daddy is good."
Qiu Su remained silent. Mo Mo muttered for a while, then suddenly looked up with her big, watery eyes and said, "Mom, Daddy doesn't want Mo Mo anymore?"
Qiu Su pouted, "How do you remember so clearly? How long has it been since we last saw each other? If Mother disappeared, wouldn't Mo Mo miss her?"
"MoMo likes Daddy."
Autumn is a time for vegetarian food.
"MoMo likes her mother."
That's more like it.
"MoMo likes Daddy."
"You mean you like it more?" Qiu Su frowned.
In the latter half of the afternoon, he snuggled upstairs with Momo and took a nap, also contemplating the meaning of life. In the middle of the afternoon, feeling dizzy, he was called downstairs. It turned out there was a problem at Lu Mingcheng's academy. Nothing more than two more students had gone missing, the reason for their departure unknown. Ruan Hu wanted to go down the mountain to confront the students' parents, but Lu Mingcheng wouldn't allow it, and a quarrel ensued.
The argument itself wasn't the main issue; the real problem was that Ruan Hu simply hoisted the boy onto his shoulder and carried him away. A scholar like him had never been treated this way, especially under the bewildered and shocked gazes of the remaining dozen or so children. He burst into tears, threatening to kill himself. When Qiu Su yawned and went over, the dozen or so children were still standing blankly in the courtyard, but Ruan Hu and Lu Mingcheng were nowhere to be seen.
Qiu Su looked around but didn't see any blood. She asked a student and was told that Ruan Hu had carried him away. Qiu Su looked at Huang Tao with frustration. Huang Tao pouted and said, "I'm afraid someone will die. That Lu Sheng really wants to die."
Who knew you'd get so gossipy? Qiu Su started to walk back, but Huang Tao grabbed her arm. "Miss, shall we go see what mischief Ruan Hu has gotten himself into?"
Qiu Su frowned. "Have you done something bad again?"
"I'm just curious," Huang Tao said with wide eyes and a serious expression. "Didn't you see how Ruan Hu looked just now? He looked like he was going to eat someone alive. That Lu Sheng is really bold. He wasn't afraid at all and even dared to talk back. Ruan Hu's fists could flatten a person with one punch."
Huang Tao thought for a long time, then frowned and said, "Miss, do you think they might be having an affair?"
Qiu Su's lips twitched. She really had no intention of knowing about the affair between the two men.
Huang Tao made it clear she wasn't going to go back to sleep, and pulled her towards the side courtyard. Upon entering, they saw more than a dozen buttocks, all facing inwards and lying prostrate outside the house.
Qiu Su looked up at the sky silently, wanting to leave, but Huang Tao reached out and grabbed her. Huang Tao coughed, and the group of people over there turned around, grinned silently, pointed in the direction of the window, and tiptoed away.
Huang Tao's eyes sparkled, and she nudged Qiu Su, saying, "Why don't you take a look?"
"I won't look."
"Just one look!"
"I won't even look at it!"
Huang Tao frowned and said, "What if someone dies? As the head of the village, Miss will bear full responsibility."
Qiu Su nodded, "That's true, then, shall we take a look?"
Huang Tao grinned, hunching over as she walked. Qiu Su followed behind, whispering, "Why aren't you walking properly?"
"You're peeping!" Huang Tao tugged at Qiu Su's sleeve. "Miss, bend down a bit."
Qiu Su's will remained firm, but she felt it wouldn't be good if others found out, so she tiptoed over. The window had already been punched by the person from before. Qiu Su looked at Huang Tao, who nodded with her lips pursed. Suddenly, a cry of pain was heard from inside.
Huang Tao's silent commentary: [Ruan Hu hit someone.]
Then came another groan, and Qiu Su frowned.
Huang Tao waved her hand, "[Ruan Hu really went for it.]" Then she mouthed, "[It's really lively inside. Looks like they're really fighting. Should we try to break it up?]"
"You dare, you dare come in!" came Lu Mingcheng's voice.
