Capítulo 25

“It’s all in the past, don’t dwell on it anymore,” Liu Zhi said.

Meng Yang suddenly rushed over, hugged Liu Zhi, and grabbed her clothes with both hands.

Liu Zhi froze.

The protective panel reflected their overlapping figures, and Liu Zhi's expression gradually softened.

Meng Yang nestled in Liu Zhi's arms, sobbing softly.

After a long while, Liu Zhi raised his hand and rubbed her head.

"I'm fine now, don't cry."

"Bullshit," Meng Yang muttered, "It'll hurt you to death."

The elevator doors opened.

Liu Zhi patted Meng Yang on the back, "We're here."

Meng Yang lowered his head and withdrew from Liu Zhi's embrace, carrying the box out of the elevator.

Liu Zhi awkwardly picked up the bag from the corner and slung it over her shoulder.

When the door is opened, the furry children are sitting in a row at the entrance, tilting their heads back to look at their mothers.

"Meow~" The little dumpling was especially happy to see Liu Zhi and rushed over on its short legs.

Liu Zhi tried to pick it up as she used to, but the pain stopped her halfway through bending over.

"Meow~" Milkball stood up and tugged at Liu Zhi's trouser leg.

Meng Yang pushed the box into room six and happened to see this scene when he returned.

She knelt down and placed the baby in Liu Zhi's arms.

The little cat snuggled into Liu Zhi's arms with all its might, until the entire kitten was buried in Liu Zhi's embrace.

This is comparable to Meng Yangyou just now.

"You should sleep on your side tonight. You don't have enough pillows, shall I get you one?" Meng Yang poked his head out of Liu Zhi's bedroom.

"No need, I can just hold the blanket." Liu Zhi rubbed her baby bump.

"What are you going to use to cover yourself with the blanket?" Meng Yang raised an eyebrow. "It's decided then and there. I've got your pillow ready."

Liu Zhi kicked off his shoes and said "Okay".

Back in her room after two days, everything felt familiar and comforting to Liu Zhi.

The little dumpling jumped onto the bed, rolled around on the blanket twice, and then slipped into the suitcase on the floor, staring longingly at Liu Zhi.

"I'm not leaving, I'm not leaving this time," Liu Zhi thought to himself.

...

The incident at the affiliated hospital, which escalated over the course of an afternoon, has now evolved into a heated discussion about doctor-patient relations.

During dinner, Liu Zhi scrolled through her phone, closely monitoring public opinion trends.

Meng Yang acted as if nothing had happened, serving Liu Zhi bone broth.

"How long are you planning to suspend the clinic?" Liu Zhi asked, sipping her soup.

"Stop until you're completely better." Meng Yang lowered his head and picked at the food in his bowl.

"I should be fine after a few weeks of rest," Liu Zhi said. "If I recover well, I can go back in less than a month."

Meng Yang put down his chopsticks and looked at her, his eyes seeming to say, "Keep making things up, keep making things up."

"It takes a hundred days to recover from a broken bone." Meng Yang tapped the table. "You need to rest for at least four weeks, and you can't overexert yourself for six months."

Just as he finished speaking, his phone rang.

It was Meng's father calling again. In just one afternoon, Meng's parents had called no less than ten times, but Meng Yang did not answer most of them.

Meng Yang went into the bedroom to answer the call.

"Mengmeng, don't worry too much, try to relax," Meng's father's voice came from over.

Meng Yang responded in a low voice.

Meng Yang had already experienced all the emotional fluctuations she was bound to have at noon. Now she was very calm, so calm that all she wanted to do was take good care of Liu Zhi.

If Liu Zhi hadn't blocked it for her, that blow would have landed either on her shoulder blade or her ribs.

If the situation is serious, Meng Yang might still be in the ICU right now.

"How is Xiao Liu?" Meng's mother's voice came from the other end of the phone again.

"He took a blow for me, fracturing my ribs. I need to rest."

Mencius' father sighed heavily, "To encounter such an unreasonable person..."

"What should we do next?" Mencius' mother asked. "This matter is quite tricky."

Chapter 27 Leisure

When Meng Yang returned after finishing the phone call, Liu Zhi was clearing away the dishes. He immediately snatched them from her hands and took them to the kitchen.

"I'm fine..." Liu Zhi said helplessly.

"If you have something to do, go back to your room and stay there." Meng Yang grabbed Liu Zhi's clothes and led her to the bedroom. "You can either lie down or sit."

Meng Yang pressed Liu Zhi's shoulder and forced her to sit on the bed. "I'll wash the dishes. Call me if you need anything."

"It's pretty boring to just sit around doing nothing, so washing the dishes is a way to pass the time," Liu Zhi said.

Meng Yang pulled a professional book out of the transparent box, handed it to Liu Zhi, and said seriously, "Read a professional book when you're bored."

Liu Zhi: "..."

"If that doesn't work, I'll get you the milk ball, but it's too noisy and might disturb your rest."

Liu Zhi: "..."

After a while, there was still no movement from the kitchen, so Liu Zhi went out of the room to observe.

The light was on in Meng Yang's room, but no one could be seen from the doorway.

"Liu Zhi!"

Liu Zhi was startled when she suddenly heard her own name.

"What's wrong?" Liu Zhi went into the inner room, looking for Meng Yang.

"Could you open that cabinet for me?" Meng Yang smiled sheepishly. "I can't bring the bar stool in, and we don't have any small stools at home."

Liu Zhi was tall with long arms. He stood on tiptoe and easily opened the cabinet that Meng Yang had mentioned.

"How did you put it in before?" Liu Zhi tossed the medicine packet in her hand.

"My dad put it there for me. I don't use it often, so I put it on top." Meng Yang took the medicine packet and walked back.

Meng Yang returned to the kitchen, rolled up his sleeves, and expertly began unpacking and soaking the herbs. Liu Zhi stood by the door, hesitant to speak.

"What do you want? Speak up." Meng Yang washed the clay pot.

“Mengyang,” Liu Zhi paused, “I think we should…”

“We need to clarify our cohabitation situation,” Meng Yang said, finishing Liu Zhi’s sentence.

Liu Zhi hummed in agreement.

"Liu Zhi." Meng Yang turned around and looked at her. "Why did you take the blow for me?"

Liu Zhi was stunned.

At the scene, Liu Zhi felt uneasy. Subconsciously, she felt that Meng Yang might be in danger.

Liu Zhi's body reacted faster than her brain. As the thugs approached Meng Yang, Liu Zhi began to push her way into the crowd. She practically lunged forward and stood in front of Meng Yang.

After the stick fell, Liu Zhi felt relieved.

"Why did you take the blow for me?" Meng Yang asked again.

Liu Zhi lowered her eyes and did not answer.

"I want to live with you, for the same reason you shielded me from the blow today." Meng Yang looked at Liu Zhi quietly, his eyes revealing a determination he didn't usually have.

Liu Zhi curled up her hand, which was pressed against the seam of her trousers.

“Whether you’re willing to face your own heart or not, I’m going to keep you here,” Meng Yang said, emphasizing each word. “I don’t want to miss out again.”

In that instant, Liu Zhi had the answer in her heart.

Her throat tightened, and she dared not look up at Meng Yang.

"Was the soup good today?" Meng Yang waited a moment before changing the subject.

"It tastes good," Liu Zhi said softly.

"The medicine in today's dish might be a bit too strong. I'll use less Chinese medicine tomorrow." Meng Yang turned his back and continued washing the clay pot. "Gege hasn't taken her medicine today. Go and feed her."

Liu Zhi readily accepted the offer, asking, "Where is the medicine?"

“On the coffee table,” Meng Yang said. “It’s very well-behaved; if you call it, it will come by itself.”

Liu Zhi hummed in agreement again.

A moment later, Meng Yang turned around, looked at Liu Zhi's back, and sighed.

"He's both taciturn and slow-witted," Meng Yangxin said.

Gege is really well-behaved. When Liu Zhi called it, it came by itself and fed the medicine without any effort.

After living in Meng Yang's house for so long, Gege's scars have faded a bit, new hair has grown, and her appearance has improved significantly.

Liu Zhi picked it up and rubbed it a couple of times. The little dumpling, seemingly appearing out of nowhere, sat on the edge of the sofa, gazing at it expectantly.

"Meow~" The little ball stretched out its paw and patted Liu Zhi's leg.

Liu Zhi had no choice but to hold both children in her arms.

The little girl stood on tiptoe and gave Liu Zhi a high-five, then pounced on her when she was having fun. Liu Zhi forgot about her back injury and instinctively leaned back on the sofa.
