Бессмертие, Бессмертие - Глава 58

Глава 58

“A man who is truly passionate—a man who will give his all, not seeking the result but only the process.” Yu Cuiwei’s round fan fanned a gentle breeze towards Li Lingyan. “A man who would ‘give his whole life’ to die, I like.”

After he finished speaking, Li Lingyan looked at his perfectly shaped lips, suddenly stepped forward, grabbed his neck forcefully, lifted his head, and a fierce look flashed in his eyes.

"Let go!" Yu Cuiwei tapped Li Lingyan's wrist with his fan. "Is it awful to have your weaknesses exposed? You probably have no idea what it feels like to have your weaknesses firmly grasped, never to be able to turn the tables... And I've lived like this for almost my entire life... What right do you have to get angry at me..." A cold smile flickered across his beautiful eyes. "You used yourself and everything you had to fight against Shengxiang, 'White Hair,' Quzhiliang, and Wanyuyuedan—for that, you were willing to destroy everything around you, to kill everyone! You only sought to fulfill yourself, without considering the feelings of those around you, their lives! You are a selfish man who is willing to sacrifice everything for yourself. Don't pretend you're wronged, that you're constantly sacrificing for your family—those are just excuses. You don't love them that much! You don't!"

“You—” Li Lingyan felt nothing in his wrist. Anyone else would have let go after Yu Cuiwei’s fan, but he didn’t. The force in his fingers was astonishing; in an instant, Yu Cuiwei’s face turned from white to green. “You live here, so you should just wait patiently for me to die! As for the rest—what are you fighting for? Nobody cares about your fighting for justice! They don’t care if I love them—they don’t care what I’ve sacrificed for them—they just want me to clean up their messes and provide them with shelter. They don’t care what I want! I don’t know if I love them or not; I only know that I have nothing but them. So I’ve been a good son, a good brother, a good elder brother—but for over twenty years, nobody has cared about me… I want to live a vibrant life for myself, to die at the hands of someone I choose—is that too much? Is that too much?” He roared, “You simply don’t understand!”

Yu Cuiwei abruptly pulled her fingers away, coughing hoarsely a few times. "Why should I understand? I'll be happy as long as I find you ridiculous and pathetic—"

Say it again!

“I said…you’re pitiful, you really are pitiful!” Yu Cuiwei suddenly burst into laughter. “No wonder Shengxiang has always felt sorry for you…hahaha…”

Li Lingyan approached Yu Cuiwei like a ghost, about to strike him down with a palm.

But Yu Cuiwei's head tilted slightly to the side, and he fainted—he had just been held by the neck by Li Lingyan and had laughed for a while, so his breathing was not yet able to catch its breath.

He collapsed to the ground with a thud when he passed out, the buttons on his collar coming undone, revealing the purplish-blue finger marks left by Li Lingyan's grip, as well as—some scars that looked very old but were still very clear.

What...what were those things that caused the injuries? Li Lingyan had incredibly sharp eyesight; those were shovels, hoes, fire tongs, scissors...and hairpins—red-hot hairpins leaving marks. Who did it? They were all common household items, and a hairpin—was it his mother? Was it...his biological mother?

For some reason, Li Lingyan didn't strike with his palm.

He is not the only one in this world who has been deeply hurt by his loved ones. He is not the only one in this world who has been treated unfairly by fate and cursed by the world. He is not even the only one in this world who lives a ridiculous and pitiful life, yet does not know why he is still alive and refuses to die.

“A pitiful person…” Li Lingyan murmured to himself, slowly squatting down to look at Yu Cuiwei’s face on the ground.

This woman is over thirty years old, yet she remains as alluring as she was when she was renowned throughout the martial arts world.

Yu Cuiwei was unconscious for a while, but with his martial arts skills, he quickly regained consciousness. When he opened his eyes, he saw Li Lingyan staring at him with open eyes, and he was also stunned.

Li Lingyan stared blankly at his face, sitting on the ground beside him, never looking away.

Yu Cuiwei brushed her hair aside, then swiftly reached out and grabbed Li Lingyan's chin, forcefully kissing him on the lips. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Li Lingyan woke up with a start, slapped Yu Cuiwei hard across the face, and shouted angrily, "What are you doing...!"

Yu Cuiwei sneered, "I'm the kind of person who survived this life. If you look down on me, then get out!" He said this purely out of anger, but unexpectedly, Li Lingyan actually turned around and left, slamming the door shut with a "bang".

Li Lingyan was actually so angry he lost his mind? Yu Cuiwei was stunned for a moment, then couldn't help but burst into laughter, "Hahaha..."

Hearing the laughter coming from inside the room, Li Lingyan's already restless heart grew even more agitated since he saw the scar on Yu Cuiwei's neck, and his lips, which had been kissed by Yu Cuiwei, felt like they were on fire. Even though he knew that Yu Cuiwei was deliberately teasing him, he still couldn't help but feel his heart pounding wildly—no matter how clever and capable he was, this was the first time he had been kissed, and the first time he had come into contact with a creature similar to a woman.

Yu Cuiwei is a transvestite who is neither male nor female; if he pleases, he can even bear your child. Suddenly, Li Lingyan remembered a lewd joke that had been circulating in the martial arts world for who knows how long. He stayed in the courtyard outside the door, and before he knew it, a long time had passed.

He didn't even realize that someone had been sitting on his roof the whole time, and that person had heard and seen almost everything he and Yu Cuiwei were arguing about.

Li Lingyan... Shengxiang was sitting here purely as a prank, but she didn't expect to witness this scene.

Under the cover of night, the incense quietly departed.

Li Lingyan was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest.

If he were to be attracted to Yu Cuiwei, it would be the most unfortunate thing in his otherwise miserable life.

The person Da Yu liked was not him, nor even Wan Yuchengbi.

Chapter Eighteen: Unexpected Events Unfold

"Where is the sacred incense?" The next day, the members of the blood sacrifice ceremony were frantically searching everywhere for the sacred incense. "Where has it gone again?"

"Not in the room."

"It's not in the lobby either."

"Not at Fu Liu Hall."

"Found him...found him! He's in the Buddhist hall! He's chanting sutras in the Buddhist hall!" The person who found him ran over, breathless and covered in sweat. "Finally found him."

"I'll go inform the young master right away," said the man, who was nearly driven mad by the search for Sheng Xiang. This chase had to go on every morning. Li Shiyu was driven to the brink of madness by Sheng Xiang and wanted to kill her every day, resulting in everyone frantically searching for her every morning.

The Buddhist hall of the Blood Sacrifice Ceremony was where Li Chenglou's wife lived. It's astonishing that Shengxiang could even sneak into that place; one has to admire his boundless curiosity.

Ordinary people cannot enter the Buddhist hall without permission; the few people could only stand outside the door and watch him.

Shengxiang found a blanket and placed it underneath. With a string of prayer beads hanging from her hand, she and a middle-aged woman with an aged back murmured scriptures together. The woman was reciting: "Kasyapa Bodhisattva said to the Buddha: 'World Honored One, as the Buddha praised the Mahaparinirvana Sutra…'"

The incense burner chanted: "Namo Amitabha Buddha, Namo Amitabha Buddha, Namo Amitabha Buddha..."

Everyone exchanged bewildered glances. What kind of sutra was Sheng Xiang spouting? Suddenly, a scream rang out: "My quilt!" One of the Blood Sacrifice Society's night watchmen's faces paled as he looked at the quilt under Sheng Xiang's bottom. "My wife embroidered this quilt for me!"

"My jade coral bead!" Before the scream had even finished, another person shrieked, "My precious treasure!"

"Namo Amitabha Buddha, Namo Amitabha Buddha..." Shengxiang pretended not to hear and recited it solemnly.

"Get out of there!" Upon hearing the news, Li Shiyu rushed over, trembling with rage. He pointed his sword at him and shouted, "That's no place for you! Get out of there and face your death!"

"Namo Amitabha Buddha... Who would go out to die?... Namo Amitabha Buddha... I won't go out..." Shengxiang murmured softly, then continued to chant earnestly.

"If you dare to harm even a hair on my mother's head, I will kill you!" Li Shiyu said, sword in hand.

"So this silent lady who only chants scriptures is your mother?" Shengxiang turned around with great joy, forgetting that she was chanting scriptures. "I can't understand what she's chanting. She's so learned."

Huh? The people outside the door looked at each other in confusion. He ran inside not to grab the lady and threaten Li Shiyu to stop chasing him, but to... Li Shiyu was stunned. "Nonsense! What were you doing sneaking into the Buddhist hall in the middle of the night?"

“Last night I overheard Dayu and Xiaoyan talking about love, and I felt things weren’t looking good, so I came to the Buddhist hall to chant some sutras to get rid of the bad luck, and also to ask Buddha to bless them with a happy and joyful life…” Shengxiang said with a grin, “Really.”

Li Shiyu trembled with rage. "You..." His sword trembled, and his anger was about to explode. He recklessly rushed into the Buddhist hall to tear the sacred incense to pieces.
