Аромат поднимается, чтобы танцевать - Глава 137
Chapter Sixty-Nine
Yelü Pusa Nu gave her a considerable amount of silver, and Mo Yan quickly rented a small courtyard in the town. She then gave the landlord more money, asking him to clean it for her within an hour and have someone bring in all the necessary items, from large items like tables, chairs, and bedding to small items like pots, pans, oil, salt, soy sauce, and vinegar. The landlord, seeing how generous Mo Yan was, smiled broadly and readily agreed.
Then Mo Yan hurriedly went to the street to rent a carriage with curtains and drove to the outskirts of the city to pick up the three of them.
The courtyard only had two rooms plus a small kitchen, so the rooms were easily allocated. Zhao Yu and Zhan Zhao, both seriously injured, each had their own room. As for herself and Yelü Pusa Nu, Mo Yan hadn't thought about where they would sleep; there were bedding available, so they could just spread them out on the floor.
Because Yelü Pusa Nu was unwilling to show himself and only cared about treating Zhao Yu and Zhan Zhao's injuries, all the tasks of buying groceries and medicine fell on Mo Yan's shoulders. In addition, she had to cook, do laundry, and so on. Even though she was worried about Zhan Zhao terribly, she could not always stay by his side.
She first cooked some rice porridge, then took a bowl to Zhan Zhao's room. Seeing that Yelü Pusa Nu was still healing her elder brother with her internal energy, she quietly withdrew and took the porridge to Zhao Yu's room. Zhao Yu's chest and leg wounds had been re-dressed. Although medicinal herbs were limited in the small town, there were many hunters here, so herbs for sprains and fractures were always available.
Zhao Yu was delirious with fever and her consciousness was blurred. Mo Yan helped her up and managed to feed her some rice porridge. She then boiled hot water to wipe her body and changed her into clean clothes.
In the courtyard, she washed and hung up a large basin of everyone's clothes that had been changed out of their clothes. Although she didn't have much of an appetite, Mo Yan still ladled out a bowl of porridge and swallowed it quickly before waiting by Zhan Zhao's door...
After waiting for another half hour, Yelü Pusa Nu slowly walked out, his face haggard, clearly indicating that his power had been greatly depleted.
"My brother..." Mo Yan was filled with worry, but she didn't know how to ask.
“He should wake up in about an hour,” Yelü Pusa Nu said calmly. “Compared to my friend, his poisoning is relatively mild. I think I’ll try to concentrate the poison in one place first, and maybe I can force it out.”
Upon hearing this, Mo Yan couldn't contain her joy and asked, "Can it really force the poison out?"
"That depends on his fate." He walked towards the kitchen and asked, "...Are you hungry? Is there any food?"
"Yes, yes, yes, I'll cook you a few dishes right away," Mo Yan replied repeatedly, but her eyes kept peering into Zhan Zhao's room.
Seeing her expression, Yelü Pusa Nu said impatiently, "What's the rush? He won't wake up for another hour. Hurry up and cook. By the way, has the princess woken up yet?"
Mo Yan reluctantly turned back, casually picked a few scallions that the original owner had planted in the corner of the yard, and quickly walked into the kitchen. Her voice, mixed with the smoke from the kitchen, drifted out: "The princess hasn't woken up yet. I fed her some rice porridge, but it seems she has a fever again."
Yelü Pusa Nu frowned. A fever meant the wound had become infected, and despite his desperate efforts, he couldn't avoid it. He was about to enter the kitchen when he turned back and walked towards Zhao Yu's room.
After a while, Mo Yan cooked three fragrant side dishes and set them on the small table in the kitchen. She peeked out to call Yelü Pusa Nu to come eat, but didn't see him in the courtyard. After searching around, she found him still in Zhao Yu's room. Beside him was a bucket of freshly drawn well water, which he was using to soak a silk handkerchief and apply it to Zhao Yu's forehead…
Although this man looked like a burly, rough fellow, he was actually quite meticulous in his work. Presumably, he would go to the kitchen to find food when he was hungry, so Mo Yan didn't call him and ran off to Zhan Zhao's room.
Slowing her pace upon reaching the door, Mo Yan tiptoed inside. There, she saw Zhan Zhao lying quietly on the bed, sunlight streaming in from the window, illuminating his all-too-familiar features. Perhaps due to Yelü Pusa Nu's previous work in condensing the poison on Zhan Zhao, the purplish-black discoloration on his limbs and face had faded somewhat. Mo Yan couldn't help but feel secretly delighted, wishing she could immediately drag Yelü Pusa Nu back so he could display his divine skills and force all the poison out of Brother Zhan's body today.
Mo Yan moved a stool and sat down beside his bed, staring blankly at him, waiting for him to wake up. Having not slept for two nights in a row, coupled with the exhaustion of traveling, she was already completely tired and unknowingly fell into a light sleep leaning against the bedside.
When Mo Yan woke up again, the room was already dark.
When she first woke up, her mind was still foggy. She didn't understand why it was dark around her. Her only thought was of Zhan Zhao. She subconsciously reached out to the bed and called out, "Big brother, big brother!"
Someone grabbed her hand and held it gently, while a voice called out, "Xiao Qi, I'm here!"
"Big brother! You're awake." With her eyes barely adjusting to the darkness, Mo Yan saw Zhan Zhao leaning against the bed, watching her with a smile.
Zhan Zhao smiled and nodded. Actually, he had been awake for a while, but he wanted Mo Yan to sleep a little longer, so he hadn't woken her.
"Brother, you..." She had a thousand questions she wanted to ask Zhan Zhao when he woke up, but at this moment, she felt that those questions were not important at all, and her eyes were fixed on him.
Are you still feeling unwell?
"fine."
"Does the wound hurt a lot?"
"fine."
"Are you hungry? I'll go heat up a bowl of rice porridge."
“I’ve already eaten,” he said with a smile. “You don’t need to bother.”
"The Vice Envoy said you've been poisoned with a very potent poison, the same one his friend has, and his friend is still alive. He said there's a way to first coagulate the poison together and then force it out. So don't worry."
Knowing that she was anxious to reassure him, Zhan Zhao nodded with a smile. While Mo Yan was sleeping, Yelü Pusa Nu had already come, so he knew the whole story.
"Big brother..." Mo Yan really wanted to hug him, but Zhan Zhao had a wound on his chest, and she was afraid of touching his wound.
Knowing that she had had a hard time these past few days, and that there were many things he had to keep from her, Zhan Zhao felt a great deal of guilt towards her. He held her small hand in his palm and gently comforted her, "I'm fine, don't be afraid."
Mo Yan nodded, scratching her ear in annoyance, seemingly unsure how to say it: "I know, I just want... Big brother, let's get married now, okay?"
Zhan Zhao was stunned. Under such circumstances, how could he possibly agree?
"I think I'll wait until I'm healed..." he said slowly.
Mo Yan interrupted him: "Brother, you promised me that you would marry me after you returned from the Iron Cavalry Camp, didn't you?"
"Yes, but now I..."
“Although I don’t know where you went, you’re finally back now…” Recalling the scene when she saw him last night, her eyes reddened, and she bit her lip hard, forcing back her tears. “Unless you change your mind and don’t want to marry me anymore.”
"Xiao Qi, I have no regrets. I just think it's better to wait until my injuries have healed before we get married."
"When my senior sister and brother-in-law got married, my brother-in-law's illness hadn't gotten better, right?" She looked straight at him, her dim eyes shining with an unusual brightness.
Zhan Zhao was speechless.
Chapter Seventy
Yelü Pusa Nu leaned against the window, from where he could see Mo Yan just closing the courtyard gate and leaving; she had been sent out to buy groceries and medicine. After a moment, he turned to look at Zhan Zhao, who was half-reclined on the bed, and said with a half-smile, "You agreed to her request?"
Zhan Zhao paused for a moment before realizing what he meant, then shook his head slightly and said with a faint smile, "Not yet."
"It's rare to find a wife so devoted to you. You should marry her. I'm getting anxious just watching you from the sidelines."
