Tang Leyan quickly withdrew her hand, took his coat that was draped over the bed, and draped it over his shoulders.

"Thank you," he said.

"I'm sorry..." she murmured, not knowing what to say, when these words suddenly came out.

"Huh?" Chu Zhen was taken aback, then laughed, "What are you saying? How many times have you said that?"

"I will never again..." She didn't look at him, lowered her eyelids, and stood blankly in front of the bed.

“I’m not blaming you. Come on…” He reached out and took her hand. “Come sit down.”

She was taken aback, but did not struggle. She obediently followed his gesture and slowly sat down.

Dragon and Tiger Fight in the Capital Chapter 73: The Lucky One

Chu Zhen clearly had a thousand words to say in her heart.

Ever since I learned that this person's surname was "Tang", it felt as if a large stone had sunk into my heart.

It was peaceful once again, yet it stirred up endless waves once more.

If my guess is correct, he should either admire his own foresight or lament the unpredictable nature of fate.

However, after hearing the news that "Guard Yue was pacing back and forth in front of the mansion gate," his heart pounded.

Countless questions swirled in his mind before she arrived, casting shadows like wings and buzzing, disturbing his peace and driving him almost mad.

Unfortunately, once the person arrived, all those crucial, urgent, and critical issues vanished without a trace.

Chu Zhen reached up to touch her forehead and looked up at the person sitting on the bedside at her feet.

It's her...it's their child.

He stared blankly at her hair, her forehead, her eyes, her nose, and her mouth, as if he were looking at an exquisitely crafted object, wanting to examine and study it from head to toe. Yet, he felt a mix of emotions: a pang of sadness, a surge of joy, a sense of melancholy, and a faint hint of jealousy. Before he knew it, his eyes were burning.

So many years have passed, it all seems like a dream.

"Leyan..." Chu Zhen called out.

“I’m here,” Leyan replied.

Knowing that the other person was scrutinizing her, she didn't feel annoyed. She let him look at her, letting his watery gaze slowly and meticulously examine her, inch by inch.

He felt a touch of joy at being looked at like that, because his gaze was so warm.

"You are..." Chu Zhen began, but her voice faded into the air and fell silent.

She suddenly smiled and stepped forward with great understanding. She took his hand and said, "Uncle... really."

His shoulders jolted, and his draped robe slid down, piling up in a heap beside him.

He reached out to grab it.

She was leaning forward to take it.

In an instant, her hand pressed heavily against his.

It felt very hot. The burning sensation spread instantly across the back of his hand and her palm.

Chu Zhen looked somewhat bewildered, while Le Yan paused for a moment, then subtly moved her hand away.

"Suddenly, I forgot what I wanted to say," he said with a wry smile, pulling his clothes up again.

Le Yan watched his movements, from his cascading long hair to his delicate and slender face, down to his barely visible butterfly-shaped shoulder blades, which seemed to flutter as he stretched out his arms.

This person, however, was completely oblivious to romance; he simply put on his coat and wrapped himself up tightly.

But this fleeting moment of spring light is enough.

Sexy enough.

Le Yan almost felt something booming in her mind.

She looked away, thinking: Tang Leyan, when did you become so wicked?

Then he coughed and said, "If you... want to know anything, I can tell you."

Chu Zhen looked up at her, feeling touched.

Leyan, she is so understanding.

He understood the unspoken question in his heart.

But do we really need to know?

Chu Zhen slowly turned her head away and remained silent for a long time.

A moment of silence fell over the room.

"No need," he said softly just as Le Yan was about to ask.

Le Yan was taken aback.

He leaned against the bedside, his face turned inward, not looking at her. He only showed her his jade-like profile.

"To have seen you in my lifetime is enough for me. As for everything from the past, or..." He hesitated, wondering how to say it, or how to explain it. What's the point of remembering, what's the point of clinging to the past? This life has been a self-inflicted trap. It's enough.

It cannot be expressed in words.

Besides, how could a little child understand these things?

Chu Zhen could only sigh.

He remained silent, his face beaming with joy.

She slowly reached out and grasped his wrist.

He shuddered. He had intended to break free.

The touch was slightly warm; slender fingers placed on his pulse. They held it quietly.

He stopped what he was doing only after realizing her intention.

Le Yan lowered her eyes.

Chu Zhen slowly turned his head to look at her. He saw that she had her head slightly lowered. This young face had no resemblance to anyone else. However, the stubbornness that had appeared between her brows reminded him of her bright smile, which had appeared several times in his childhood dreams.

“Chu Gexing and I… our martial arts styles are roughly the same,” she put her hand back on his wrist, “He can also heal my injuries.”

"Okay," Chu Zhen replied.

“I was too impulsive that day, and I didn’t have time to stop. Now that I think about it, if he hadn’t drawn my inner energy away from behind you in time, I’m afraid…” She stopped talking.

Chu Zhen understood what she meant: "Life and death are determined by fate. Besides, I am perfectly fine now, so you don't need to blame yourself too much."

“Yes, if he hadn’t intervened, I would definitely be regretting it now. However… I didn’t mean to find fault with him, it’s just…” Le Yan sighed, “Or perhaps I misunderstood, but he was the one who bullied me first.”

A hint of impatience flickered between his brows.

I don't know why, but I wanted to say something to him.

These past events that shouldn't have been mentioned, these trivial matters that shouldn't have been taken seriously, she actually wanted to explain to him: her actions were out of necessity.

Chu Zhen blinked, somewhat understanding. Thinking of Chu Gexing's conversation with him that morning, he assumed the two were truly lovers, and that they were just having a little tiff. He couldn't help but smile and say, "I understand. Gexing's temper can be quite unbearable at times, but... if he's truly good to someone, it's definitely a deep and heartfelt kind of good."

Le Yan was slightly taken aback upon hearing this: Would Chu Gexing really be kind to people? Hmph, truly caring to the core? I think he's more ruthless to the core.

Thinking of this, I couldn't help but feel a little sympathy for Chu Zhen in front of me.

Poor Uncle Zhen, he thought Chu Gexing was a good person, or rather, a good person with great potential.

He's so naive.

Hmph. Everyone knows that guy is a wolf in sheep's clothing. He should have a "Danger Keep Out" sign written on his forehead, be locked in a sturdy iron cage, and guarded by people all around.

"Well, I just don't know who the lucky one will be." She snorted, her dissatisfaction evident in her words.

"What lucky person?" Chu Zhen asked curiously.

"Yes, if someone could earn the deepest love from the cold-hearted and aloof Admiral of the Nine Gates, I wonder what a lucky person that would be... Haha!" Le Yan said sarcastically.

Having barely managed to get to this point, he suddenly couldn't help but burst into laughter.

Those "lucky people" probably haven't been born yet.

With her rich imagination, she simply couldn't fathom how Chu Gexing could be so affectionate, tender, caring, and considerate.

She didn't find it something to look forward to; she only found it absurd, laughable, and even somewhat terrifying.

Isn't Chu Gexing a cold-blooded animal?

That idea of warmth and affection is ridiculous, isn't it?

If it really exists, it would only happen if winter thunder roared and summer snow fell and the heavens and earth joined together.

Hahaha, I'm laughing so hard I'm almost crying.

Chu Zhen completely misunderstood her meaning.

Looking at her suddenly bright and cheerful smile, that innocent, unrestrained, and undisguised smile.

He simply felt gratified and happy as a result.

The adorable Le Yan, the cunning Le Yan, the willful Le Yan, the proud Le Yan, the Le Yan who sometimes throws tantrums. One day, she will understand the goodness of the song.

The thought that one day Chu Gexing would be like the departed man in red, living a life of blissful love with the person before him, made Chu Zhen feel content. The happiness he couldn't have was a kind of satisfaction to see others possess it.

He has already generously envisioned the happy life of the princess and prince in his mind.

If Le Yan knew that Chu Zhen had already decided that she was the "lucky one," she might be so shocked that she would have nightmares at night.

Dragon and Tiger Fight in the Capital Chapter 74 Precious

"I didn't hear anyone mention your attack during court today. Could it be that this matter hasn't been leaked?" Le Yan sat on the edge of the bed, looking at the person opposite her, playing with a fan in one hand, and asked.

"Yes, there is a mysterious undercurrent lurking in Shundu. I am aware of this, but I have not yet found out where this force comes from," Chu Zhen said slowly, frowning. "Over the years, I have gone to great lengths to suppress the major factions in Shun, thus maintaining the stability of the court for more than ten years and preventing any upheavals. His Majesty is aware of this, otherwise, I would be suspected of being too powerful and overshadowing the emperor. The reason His Majesty tolerates me in this way is because he needs me to suppress the various ministers in the court."

"Hmm, are you worried that if the matter of the assassin gets out, it will cause unease among all parties and then lead to unforeseen changes?" Le Yan looked at the person in front of her and pondered.

“You’re right.” Chu Zhen glanced at her. She was indeed clever and quick-witted. What a good girl. After a faint smile, she continued to promote her product. “Ge Xing can naturally guess what I’m thinking. Besides him and me, there may be third parties who have heard about what happened last night. After all, we still don’t know how many hidden agents are in Shundu and what kind of plans they are trying to carry out.”

"You don't need to worry. Just rest and recover. I think the Nine Gates Admiral will handle everything else." Le Yan seemed not to understand his good intentions and only offered words of comfort.

"As you said, I do trust the music company to handle things." He smiled and gazed at the child: This child is so innocent.

"Well, but those assassins failed the first time, and they might try again. I think..." She was only worried about him.

He understood her meaning and quickly stopped her: "I know you mean well. However, it would be better for you to stay by His Majesty's side. Since these people dared to attack me, I'm more afraid they will harm His Majesty."
