Die Faust zerschmettert alle Himmel und unzählige Welten - Kapitel 21

Kapitel 21

The room was very quiet. Feng Ning leaned against the door, feeling a little cold. She wrapped herself up tighter and said, "Long San, if the servants find me in front of your door early tomorrow morning, there will definitely be new rumors. They'll definitely say that Third Master is really charming. Look at that Third Madam, she won't leave even if you kick her."

She became more and more fluent as she spoke, muttering to herself, "I must tell them that I love Third Master so much, that I will only ever follow Third Master in this life, and that I will never be separated from him."

The door finally opened amidst her incessant chatter. Long San, his face dark, glared down at her: "What exactly do you want?"

As Feng Ning was speaking, the door panel loosened and she almost fell over. She looked up at Long San with pitiful, dark, doe-like eyes and said, "Don't leave me behind, Long San."

Author's Note: Haha, I love Feng Ning in this chapter, haha, she's so adorable!

Oh, right, thanks to Shadow for helping me create a Baidu Tieba forum called "Bright Moon Listening to the Wind". I'm not very familiar with that place yet, but if you're interested, you can check it out. I'll be waiting for you all!

15. The Third Madam Long, who was greedy and demanding...

Long San's heart skipped a beat at her soft words, but he quickly straightened his face and said fiercely, "Why keep someone as annoying as you if you're not going to get rid of them?"

Feng Ning sat on the ground, turned her head and looked longingly into the room, and replied, "I know martial arts, I can be your bodyguard and assassin."

Long San smirked: "Help me kill all the women who are bothering me?"

“Men are fine too.” Feng Ning actually nodded.

Long San's brow twitched; he really wanted to remind her that she was the only one clinging to him right now. Feng Ning stood up, and seeing that Long San didn't seem to intend to forcefully stop her, she quickly ducked into the house.

Just like last night, she swiftly threw off her cloak, arranged her pillows, and darted into bed. Long San closed the door, stood by the bed with his arms crossed, watching her.

Feng Ning gave a flattering smile, wrapped herself up in the blanket, and said, "I'll just sleep for a little while."

"You said the same thing yesterday, and then you slept soundly until dawn."

"Then why didn't you wake me up?"

Long San choked. Why didn't he wake her? He really couldn't be a good person. He said sternly, "You kept me up all night last night, and now you're at it again. Tell me, when will you stop having nightmares? If you keep doing this, how am I supposed to get any rest?"

Feng Ning remained motionless and silent. Long San could tell at a glance that she was pondering what to say. He waited to see how she would respond, but then he saw her expression slowly turn somber as if she had thought of something. Her reaction made him nervous as well. What was wrong with her?

Feng Ning then asked, "Why can't I sleep here?"

Long San carefully responded, "If you sleep here, what am I supposed to do? I didn't sleep a wink last night." He was good at playing the victim.

To his surprise, Feng Ning looked even more pitiful than him. She asked again, "Then why can't you sleep? Are you afraid I'll bother you? I told you I'd go back to my parents' home after this is all over. I know you don't like me, and you were forced to marry me, but we've been married for almost three years. It's perfectly reasonable for us to share a room and a bed. Why are you acting like I'm dirty?"

She spoke softer and softer, until she was truly aggrieved: "I know I made mistakes before, and you're only being this close to me to find the treasure and the murderer. But I've been really scared these past two days. Can't you even fulfill your duties as a husband?"

Long San was speechless after hearing her words. She was open and honest about losing her memory, but he still remembered everything from back then and had no way to talk about it. Although she was like a new person now, he still had to keep a proper distance from her as the best course of action.

Long San's silence made Feng Ning even more upset. The atmosphere in the room was heavy and awkward. No matter how thick-skinned she was, she couldn't bear being treated like this. If she stayed any longer, she would only demean herself. She stopped talking, silently got up, wrapped her cloak around herself, put on her hood, and hugged the small bundle of clothes and pillow to her chest. After a while, she wrapped herself up like a ball again, then lowered her head and walked out silently.

The door creaked open and then closed softly. Long San stood there, frozen, unsure of what to feel. This woman was something else; when she was crazy, you wanted to throw her far away, but when she was pitiful, you felt that even raising your voice was unfair to her.

Long San couldn't control his hands and feet. When he came to his senses, he found himself opening the door and going out to find Feng Ning. Under the dim moonlight, Feng Ning's round figure looked particularly pitiful. She walked alone on the path, but not towards her own courtyard.

Long San followed her at a distance, watching her walk until she sat down on a stone bench. He stopped, wanting to see what she was planning, but after waiting for a long time, she didn't move. He couldn't hold back any longer and went over to her.

He walked up to her, and she looked up at him in surprise before looking down again. He asked, "Why don't you go back to your own yard?"

"I want to go see Granny Yu." She spoke after he had waited for a while and thought she wouldn't answer.

"Granny Yu?"

Feng Ning answered softly, "Granny Yu is more imposing. Sleeping with her will probably make me less afraid of nightmares."

"Then why don't you go? What are you doing sitting here?"

“Granny Yu doesn’t like me either. You’re much closer to me than me. I’m thinking about how to talk to her, otherwise she definitely won’t let me stay.” She lowered her head and murmured softly, “I’ve thought about it for a long time but still can’t figure it out. She should be asleep by now. Will she be angry if I knock on her door?”

Long San gazed at the wispy black hair peeking out from under her hood, and wanted to sigh. He softly called out, "Feng Ning..."

She stubbornly refused to look up, replying with a hint of defiance, "I didn't bother you. I'm sitting here, so I'm not in your way, am I?"

Long San sighed. He squatted down and looked into her eyes. Her eyes were dark and moist, filled with sadness and grievance. Long San sighed again and reached out to take her hand.

Her hands were hidden inside her cloak, and she recoiled sharply when he touched her, unwilling to let him hold them. Long San didn't force her; he simply held out his palms in front of her and said softly, "Granny Yu or me, who do you choose?"

Feng Ning bit her lip, looked at his large hand, hesitated again and again, but finally stubbornly said, "You're the one who drove me away."

"How stingy," Long San mimicked her coquettish complaining tone.

Feng Ning pursed her lips, a hint of amusement appearing in her eyes, but she maintained a serious expression and said, "So now you're the one who came to find me?"

“Yes.” Long San gritted his teeth inwardly.

Feng Ning finally raised her eyes and met Long San's gaze. She looked at him carefully to make sure he didn't mean to joke about her. She bit her lip, hesitated for a while, and finally put her hand in his large palm.

Her earnestness gave him a strange feeling of being entrusted with something, and he pulled her up, leading her to his courtyard. Feng Ning's mood instantly improved, and she regained her energy. Her eyes crinkled with joy as she turned to Long San and said, "Could you get me my pillow?"

"not good."

"Then get the clothes." She was being led by the hand, and it was a bit difficult for her to carry two things with only one hand.

He glanced at her and muttered a complaint, "You're pushing your luck." But he still reached out and took the small bundle. Feng Ning seemed not to hear him, only smiling sweetly as she walked back to his room.

This time, once inside the house, she didn't act like she was going to war. She climbed into bed, carefully arranged her pillows, and then asked, "I don't have to sit in a chair all night, right? I can sleep in the bed, right?"
