“I have disturbed the meditation of my great-grandfather and the Imperial Tutor. I deserve to die so that my great-grandfather may know. Last night I had a nightmare in which a Buddha appeared in my dream and said that I only have ten years left to live.”
After Wang Jiande stood up, he revealed his purpose: "The Buddha said that the people of Jambudvipa in the East do not know the immensity of heaven and earth, that there are many things and many people, that they are greedy and murderous, lustful and deceitful, and deceitful and fraudulent. They do not follow the Buddhist path, do not seek good karma, do not respect the three lights (sun, moon, and stars), and do not value the five grains. Therefore, my grandson's fortune is shallow and his lifespan is short!"
He paused, then said, "He said that the only way to resolve this problem is for his grandson to respect and honor the Buddha, and to open the door of convenience, allowing Buddhists to preach and build temples within the empire, and so on. Only in this way can he accumulate merit and gain blessings and longevity!"
After saying that, he added, "This matter is extremely strange and involves the conflict between Taoism and Buddhism. I dare not act on my own, so I have come up the mountain to ask my great-grandfather and the Imperial Tutor for a decision!"
Upon hearing this, Xiao Ning's expression turned somewhat solemn. He exchanged a glance with Wang Mang, both of them seeing the suppressed excitement and gravity in each other's eyes.
After waiting for more than 600 years, the curtain has finally been raised on the Journey to the West.
However, neither of them expected that Buddhism would choose such a starting point.
The method of entering dreams is crude, despicable, and shameless.
If Daxin were a mortal kingdom, Emperor Wang Jiande might actually be intimidated by it.
Huh!
That's not right. How could the Buddhist sect not know that the Great Xin Empire has its own backers?
Although this matter was kept secret, it could not possibly have escaped the Buddha's notice!
A series of questions suddenly flashed through Xiao Ning's mind.
He opened his eyes, which seemed to emit a divine light as he looked down at Chang'an City below.
In his eyes, wisps of energy emanated from Chang'an City, and beneath the seemingly calm surface lay countless unpredictable events.
This prosperous and peaceful era is like a scene of boiling oil on a raging fire; the slightest misstep could lead to its destruction.
"So it was you..."
Suddenly, Xiao Ning's eyes narrowed, his gaze seemingly piercing through all obstacles and transcending spatial limitations, as he saw a figure in the City God Temple in Chang'an City. He muttered something under his breath.
"The Buddhist Guanyin is currently in Chang'an City!"
Faced with the questioning looks from Wang Mang and Wang Jiande, Xiao Ning sat down again and said with a slightly serious expression.
"What? Guanyin has arrived?"
Wang Mang's eyes widened, and he exclaimed in surprise.
Wang Jianguo looked completely bewildered. Forgive his ignorance, but there was no trace of Buddhism in the entire Great Xin Empire. He had only heard of Buddhism before, but did not know the names of the various Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
As for Guanyin? Who is she? Her name is quite strange.
Wang Mang stood up, his face no longer able to maintain its composure. He paced back and forth in the hall, appearing very agitated.
Guanyin, the chief bodhisattva under the Buddha of the Western Paradise, is located on Mount Sumeru. Together with Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, she is one of the Buddha's attendant bodhisattvas, and together they are known as the Three Saints of the West. Although she is not the Buddha, she is more than the Buddha.
In the primordial world, Guanyin was transformed from Cihang Daoren, one of the Twelve Golden Immortals of the Chan Sect. After the Investiture of the Gods, she, along with Manjushri Guangfa Tianzun and Samantabhadra Zhenren, betrayed the sect and joined the Buddhist order.
However, in this world, Guanyin Bodhisattva is a native and powerful figure of Buddhism, and there are no Chan or Jie sects in this world, nor are there any so-called saints.
The Three Pure Ones are not saints, but rather three powerful Taoist sages from the Heavenly Court. They are the Primordial Heavenly Venerable of the Pure and Subtle Heaven in the Jade Purity Realm, the Spiritual Treasure Heavenly Venerable of the Yu Yu Heaven in the Upper Purity Realm, and the Moral Heavenly Venerable of the Great Crimson Heaven in the Supreme Purity Realm.
One of the incarnations of the Supreme Lord of Morality served as an alchemist in the Heavenly Court, taking the name Taishang Laojun.
Let's get back to the main topic.
Wang Mang was extremely anxious, and Guanyin herself appeared, which he had not expected.
Did she notice anything unusual about Emperor's Peak?
Will this bring any negative consequences?
If things turn sour and I anger this person, will I be able to defeat her? In other words, will I be able to escape with my life from her clutches?
Xiao Ning seemed to see through his thoughts and said, "Alright, what are you panicking about? If the Buddhist sect wants to spread eastward and enter our Southern Jambudvipa territory, we need to give them our consent first. Do you think the Buddhist sect would dare to force us?"
"Do you really think that my Taoist patriarch, Laozi, only knows how to refine elixirs?"
"The situation is not the same as it was five hundred years ago!"
"My great new empire is a super empire with a huge population, vast territory, and many powerful people. How can it be a hot commodity that anyone can take a bite of?"
"Besides, I just glanced at Guanyin's strength, and it's nothing special!"
"Based on my estimation, the Buddha of Mount Ling can't be that much stronger!"
"Don't worry, at worst we can go and seek refuge with the Heavenly Court. I think the Jade Emperor would welcome us with open arms!"
Xiao Ning has the confidence because he has the ability.
Twenty years have passed since he overcame the tribulation to become an immortal.
It must be said that time flies, especially for cultivators.
Sometimes, when you wake up from a period of seclusion, the world has changed dramatically, and a thousand years have passed in the outside world.
Fortunately, these twenty years have not been wasted; Xiao Ning feels he has gained a great deal.
The Nine Revolutions Profound Technique is the legendary method by which the great god Pangu attained enlightenment. Practicing it to the ninth revolution can lead to the attainment of Hunyuan (Primordial Chaos).
Cultivating this heaven-defying immortal technique is not difficult.
The only difficulty is that resources are needed!
