Kapitel 3

Fan Qingbo cautiously peeked out and immediately saw two disheveled young men. One was groping Jiao Hua, while the other ripped off the silver hairpin that bound Jiao Hua's hair. Jiao Hua's black hair fell gracefully to her chest, adding to her delicate appearance.

"Stop, stop! Wait, please, please don't do this..."

Oh, Jiaohua, your voice is amazing! If I don't ravage you, who will I ravage?

The boy yanked hard, and the contents of the delicate flower bag fell out with a clatter.

You're such a jerk, younger man/older woman! Be gentle, be gentle! What?! There's a box of rouge?! You're actually a sissy/submissive type, you delicate flower!

"Damn it! There's nothing of value here! Search again! I refuse to believe that someone wearing a silver hairpin wouldn't have any silver on them!"

Hey! Aren't you a womanizer? Be professional!

"Young men, wait, wait, I have something to say. An ancient sage said: 'Do not do evil because it is small, nor neglect good because it is small. Only virtue and wisdom can win people's hearts.' Robbing is absolutely unacceptable; do not ruin your moral character. Furthermore, there are always people more powerful than you. I am the one who has been robbed now, which is fine, but what if you encounter other powerful people in the future? Wouldn't you suffer a great loss? What would those who love and care for you do then? If the situation were more serious, wouldn't your parents have to bury their children? How could you bear that?"

Upon hearing Jiao Hua's words, not only the two slovenly teenagers, but even Fan Qingbo, who was just passing by, couldn't take it anymore. Was this person some kind of time-traveling Tang Sanzang from the Law Kar-ying version?

However, after listening to a long passage, she felt that the delicate flower's voice sounded somewhat familiar.

"You damned scholar! You think I'm uneducated? You've already said seventy, eighty, or ninety words and still not a word? You're the one who's burying your child! How dare you curse us!"

Hearing this, Fan Qingbo couldn't help but feel a little disheartened. It really was just a robbery; these two foul-mouthed scumbags were truly disappointing. Just as he turned to leave, suddenly, with a "smack," the back of his head was hit by a rouge box that the scumbag had casually tossed behind him.

...What is this? She's not even allowed to stand idly by? Does she have to get involved?

He squatted down, picked up the box of rouge that had hit her, and slowly walked into the alley.

"Chen Datian, Chen Xiaotian, what are you doing?"

The two boys squinted, gradually making out the faces of the newcomers. Their previously sinister and roguish expressions instantly turned into fawning. They bowed and said with a smirk, "Aunt Fan, what are you doing here? Are you going home? Would you like your nephews to give you a ride?"

Fan Qingbo raised an eyebrow and glanced at the person in the corner, and was quite surprised to find that this delicate flower looked somewhat familiar.

"Is it you?" The scholar I met briefly at the teahouse earlier?

Jiaohua clearly recognized her as well, and looked surprised.

Seeing that the two seemed to know each other, Da Tian and Xiao Tian quickly and incredibly gathered up the things on the ground and stuffed them into the scholar's arms, even helping him straighten his clothes. Laughing, they each put their arms around one of his shoulders, trying their best to make it seem like nothing was wrong. "We were just kidding! We brothers were giving him a lesson, telling him that there are dangers in the alleys and that he should be careful when entering them, haha, haha!"

Fan Qingbo then withdrew his gaze from the scholar and glanced indifferently at Chen Xiaotian's hand hidden behind his back.

Chen Xiaotian exclaimed "Huh!" and took out the silver hairpin from behind his back. With an exaggerated look of surprise, he shouted, "Ah! I've been looking for you for ages! Here you are! Brother, take this. Be careful next time, don't lose something so valuable again!"

"Oh, thank you." The scholar took the things, somewhat dazed.

It turns out they meant well; he was truly judging them by his own petty standards.

The two exchanged a glance and began to tiptoe away. Just then, they heard a "Wait!" behind them. Their legs went weak, and they turned around tremblingly. They saw the scholar give them a slight smile and bow with some guilt, saying, "I misunderstood you earlier. I'm very sorry. Please accept my bow."

Da Xiaotian thought he was being sarcastic, and without saying a word, he turned and ran away.

The scholar stared blankly at the two figures disappearing quickly, and murmured, "Giving kindness without expecting anything in return, it seems that righteous people are indeed emerging in the capital."

Fan Qingbo's lips twitched incessantly. Was this scholar a complete airhead? He was practically a martyr himself, yet he still considered the robber a hero...

"Oh, right, I haven't thanked this young lady yet—"

"No! I'm just a passerby. If you don't treat me like a hero, I'll thank your ancestors for eight generations." She decisively interrupted him, then stuffed the rouge box she had found into his hands, helped him pack his cloth bag, and led him out of the alley.

I only caught a glimpse of the teahouse and thought it looked pleasing to the eye, but now that I look at it more closely, I realize it's more than just pleasing to the eye.

It's not that his features are particularly outstanding, but rather that they combine to create a gentle and kind demeanor. His left cheek seems to say, "I'm easy to fool," while his right cheek seems to say, "Come and bully me." It would be strange if Da Xiaotian didn't have designs on him. However, despite his honesty, he doesn't appear dull. Coupled with his elegant long robe and natural, refined air, his smile is like a gentle spring breeze.

Recalling how Da Tian had called him "scholar" before, she probably knew who he was.

"Are you the newly arrived scholar?"

The scholar nodded honestly, then, remembering that Da Tian and Xiao Tian called her Aunt Fan, he bowed respectfully and said, "Since Miss Fan is the aunt of these two righteous men, could you please convey my thanks to them?"

Fan Qingbo couldn't help but roll his eyes. "What righteous man? Those two brats are notorious troublemakers in the neighborhood, bullying the weak and fearing the strong, especially newcomers. Do you believe that if I leave now, they'll come out and rob you again?"

The scholar's eyes widened, clearly disbelieving.

It seems he won't give up until he sees the Yellow River. She squatted down, picked up a pebble, aimed at a wall not far behind them, and threw it. Immediately, she heard a rustling sound of someone running away from the other side of the wall. She clapped her hands, raised her eyebrows to look at the scholar, and said, "Do you believe me now?"

The scholar looked conflicted, clearly torn between believing and not believing, caught in a dilemma.

Seeing his smug, self-satisfied expression, Fan Qingbo decided to do a good deed for the day. "To tell you the truth," she said, "I was robbed when I first came here four years ago. I know their vices all too well. They robbed me nine times in total, taking almost all my belongings." Seeing his surprised expression, she continued smugly, "Of course, I got them all back. I'm not afraid of anything, except their mother."

"So you became sworn sisters with their mothers, becoming their aunt to turn the tables on them?"

The scholar gradually got into the mood, and seeing her nod, he asked with some curiosity, "How did you become sworn brothers with their mother?"

Qingbo looked at him with a half-smile, "You really want to know?"

The scholar nodded without any suspicion.

Fan Qingbo winked ambiguously and said in a strange tone, "I shared some bedroom secrets with her to help her win back her husband's heart and soul from the brothel girl, so she naturally regards me as a close friend."

The scholar was somewhat flustered, and a thin blush quickly spread across his fair face. At the same time, his brows gradually furrowed, and his eyes, which had been keeping to themselves and not daring to look her in the eye, suddenly met hers. He said, "Miss Fan, please have some self-respect."

Author's Note: Update! Um, the scholar is based on a real person. Have you all seen the Legend of the Dragon, where Benny Chan played Ye hope? >_<
