Las bellezas de la dinastía Song - Capítulo 58

Capítulo 58

He pursed his lips, staring at her stubbornly, his hand still gripping hers tightly.

The little girl tugged at it, but couldn't pull it apart, and immediately got annoyed and angry, "Hey, are you going to let go or not?"

He shook his head firmly.

The two stared at each other for a long time, both sulking, yet still locked in a stalemate. She gave in first, indignantly, "Fine, then what will it take for you to let go?"

He hesitated for a moment, opened his mouth to speak, then stopped, and after a long while, blushed and said, "If I agree to your request, you have to agree to marry me."

The little girl chuckled.

This older brother is still playing house; isn't he ashamed?

He pursed his lips tightly, his face full of stubbornness.

"Okay, I agree." The little girl looked very serious, but her eyebrows and eyes were beaming with joy, as if she couldn't contain her happiness.

He was overjoyed. Looking at the little girl's beaming face, he felt a little uneasy. After a moment's thought, he pointed to the little owl charm she had snatched back like a precious treasure on their first meeting and had worn ever since. "Can I have this?" he asked.

He had heard his mother say that when two families were betrothed, they had to exchange betrothal tokens. Once the tokens were exchanged, it was a done deal and could not be backed out. The tokens that they exchanged privately were their betrothal gifts, which were even more important and should not be taken lightly.

Thinking of this, his face flushed even more. He looked at the little girl with a mixture of shyness and anticipation.

The little girl nodded, her eyes crinkling, and without a second thought, tore off the pendant from her clothes and tossed it into his hand.

He was overjoyed.

As soon as she loosened her sleeve, she ran away in a flash.

"Qingyan!" he cried out in alarm, and went to chase after her.

A voice came from behind, "Hey, why is there a homeless child standing here? Little friend, are you alone?" It was the orphanage auntie who came out. She couldn't help but laugh when she saw a little boy standing outside the door, who was dressed strangely but had pretty features and was covered in dirt.

Cheng Jue stopped in his tracks. He remembered his promise and had no choice but to stop, his gaze fixed on the direction where Qing Yan had disappeared, unable to snap out of his daze.

"Little friend, where do you live?" The aunt's voice was exceptionally kind.

Cheng Jue shook her head.

I don't know where my home is, so how would he know?

"How pitiful, such a beautiful child has become an orphan. Come, little friend, come in with me. From now on, this will be your home."

On that day, the Ouyang family, including business tycoons Ouyang Ting and his wife, happened to be making a charity donation and wanted to adopt a child. When they saw Cheng Jue entering with his aunt, they took a liking to him at first sight. From then on, Cheng Jue became Ouyang Cheng Jue, the only son of the Ouyang family.

Chapter 124: [Side Story] Part 3

Cheng Jue's Story: The Past is Grief, Part Three

On the day he left with the Ouyang couple, he insisted on going to a dilapidated construction site. There, he sat in a luxurious extended Ford limousine, peering out the window and waiting anxiously for several days, but he never saw the little girl who loved wearing white princess dresses again. He had no choice but to leave sadly with his new parents.

Six months later, Cheng Jue discovered a method to travel between two different time periods using a time-space medium.

He travels between two different times and spaces, playing two completely different people, searching for and waiting for the woman who made a promise to him.

However, the longer time passed and the more he learned about the little girl's time and space, the more uneasy he became.

He took that promise very seriously, but was she as serious as he was?

A few years later.

That day, he was driving out of a product launch event and stopped at a red light. He leaned back lazily in his seat, his gaze casually sweeping over the shops across the street.

Suddenly he saw her, standing in the crowd, her face radiant with sunshine, her eyes crinkling, chatting intimately with the person beside her. His body immediately froze. It was her, he recognized her at a glance, it must be her, those eyebrows, that smile, almost unchanged from when he was a child.

A wave of overwhelming joy washed over him, and he stood frozen in the car, unable to react.

A car glided past, the light turned green, and horns blared behind us.

He was distracted for a moment, and when he looked again, the person in front of him had vanished.

He jumped out of the car like a madman, ran across the street, and searched frantically, but couldn't find him anywhere... for a whole day. When his secretary arrived, he was pale, collapsed to the ground, and had no strength left in his body.

One year later, in front of the university auditorium of the School of Economics.

It was a school performance and arts competition. The campus was bustling with people.

He was carrying a stack of documents, having just come out of the library. Although he had already made a name for himself in the business world, he still hoped to learn more about this time and space, things that would be useful in the other.

As he rounded the sharp bend in front of the flowerbed, a girl rushed out and knocked over his books.

The girl slapped her forehead in annoyance, said sorry helplessly, and then squatted down to help him clean up. He stood there blankly, feeling as if he were in a dream.

It was her!

She quickly gathered all the books, shoved them into his hands, and turned to run. He instinctively grabbed her hand, and as he met her bewildered gaze, the words he'd longed to say for twenty years slipped out without hesitation: "Let's get married?"

As the words left his mouth, both of them were slightly taken aback. He realized what he had said, and couldn't help but smile with happiness.

How long had he dreamed of this scene? Finally, this day had arrived, finally he could say to her, "Marry me, let's get married."

She realized what was happening and couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time, rolling her eyes. "Crazy."

She forcefully shook off his hand and turned to leave.

No, we can't let her go again!

He pounced like a lion, grabbing her tightly. Before he could say anything, a sharp pain shot through the back of his neck, his vision blurred, and he involuntarily released his grip and collapsed.
