Глава 12

"It wasn't that I was too smart, it was that my opponent was too stupid." Shen Yuntan breathed a sigh of relief and continued to make up lies.

“The one who wanted to kill me was Tianxiu, and those two brothers, uh, they both have the surname Sang.” He smiled, his tone suddenly softening, “Tianshu, like you, is a good person.”

A good person?

Nineteen, recalling the ice cube that indiscriminately killed people, felt no sympathy for him: "Useless old man, you, with no experience in the martial world, see everyone as a good person!" Pointing to his own nose, he continued, "Look closely! Someone like me is the good person! That Tian Shu? Hmph! I think you shouldn't eat anything he gives you. The martial world is dangerous, not something a stupid scholar like you can handle. It might be poison, killing you!"

After saying that, he himself became curious, "Why did he give you the medicine?"

"Uh, I've been in poor health since I was a child, I have... asthma. Yes, asthma, so he gave me the medicine in case I didn't bring it with me."

Nineteen made a look of sudden realization, then looked at him with pity: "Spittoon, you're really useless."

Yun Tan pretended not to see and continued to cover up his lie: "Tian Shu is aloof and only good to his friends. He thinks I'm his senior brother and wouldn't kill me. However, he doesn't care much about other people's lives. His attack just now was probably to test whether you are friend or foe."

Nineteen raised an eyebrow: "In the end, he's still a narcissistic, psychopathic killer." She suddenly remembered something, propped herself up on the table with one hand, and said, "Then why did you say you didn't recognize him that day, and thought he was a god?"

Yun Tan's mind worked quickly: "I don't recognize any of your moves, and I don't know how good his martial arts are. He was wearing a mask, and I haven't seen him in so long, so naturally I wouldn't recognize him." He blinked, looking very innocent. "Nineteen, you suspect me?"

Tang Shijiu waved his hands repeatedly: "No, no, it's just that Tian Shu Tian Xiu is too strange, and I'm just a little curious."

Shen Yuntan breathed a sigh of relief as he watched her return to her room with a smile.

May Amitabha Buddha and Bodhisattva protect us, and may the Supreme Lord Laozi grant our command! It's not that I'm too clever, it's that little girl Tang Shijiu is too stupid.

Shen Yuntan wasn't entirely lying; Tian Shu and Tian Xiu really were his fellow disciples.

They weren't fellow students studying together, but rather fellow students killing each other.

The master was an eccentric man who searched far and wide for children with martial arts talent to bring back to the manor and teach. Some of these children, like Shen Yuntan, were orphans who had lost both parents and were pitifully wandering the martial world. Others, however, were sons of good families with parents, such as Tian Shu.

The master believed that only the victor reigns supreme and only the strong survive. Therefore, the only way to train those children was to kill each other. Those who survived to the end were his disciples.

In the end, only two children remained in that manor: Yun Tan and Tian Shu. Yun Tan was clever, full of mischievous ideas, and skilled in martial arts; Tian Shu was talented and hardworking. These two had lived in that terrifying manor for three years, playing hide-and-seek, killing each other, but in the end, neither could kill the other.

The master said, "That's enough. Even if we kill them for three more years, we still won't be able to determine who is better." So he accepted them as his disciples.

The two never fought again, but their master said that one day, one of them would inevitably die at the hands of the other; it was their fate.

With such a twisted master, the disciples he raises are naturally no better.

So one day, the two destined enemies joined forces, killed their master, and went down the mountain.

Tian Shu once said that he had a younger brother named Tian Xiu, who was captured by their master at the same time, but no one knew where he went or whether he was alive or dead. Even after killing their master, Yun Tan never saw Tian Xiu again.

However, at their first meeting, Yun Tan almost died at Tian Xiu's hands.

He looked so much like Tian Shu. Yun Tan had never seen twins before, and he never imagined that there could be people in the world who looked so alike. The knife pierced his waist muscle, but luckily he reacted quickly; otherwise, if it had gone a few inches deeper, even a celestial being couldn't have saved him.

Tianxiu said: Keeping you around will only bring trouble to my brother and to me.

That's true. After Master's death, perhaps only Shen Yuntan in the martial world could kill Tian Shu.

The only one capable of killing Shen Yuntan is Sang Tianshu.

That stab didn't kill him.

Later, I heard that Tian Shu and Tian Xiu found their family and inherited the manor.

Four years ago, he met Tianxiu and retaliated with a vicious knife. Tianxiu was ruthless, cunning, and calculating; such a person would generally not be very skilled in martial arts.

He thought Tianxiu was dead, but he forgot that children who survived under such a master had a tenacious life like cockroaches.

Tianxiu's power grew stronger and stronger, and people became increasingly wary of him.

He fiddled with the bottle of the "Hundred-Day Crisp" antidote, but ultimately didn't open it or eat it.

Shen Yun knew perfectly well that Tianxiu was an enemy, not a friend, and Tianshu was neither. He only administered the antidote because he disdained to harm himself, who was already poisoned.

He smiled thoughtfully. He didn't want to have a direct conflict with Tian Shu right now, and he didn't want to fight him.

Moreover, if the poison were cured in this way, it would seem too boring.

He's bored.

Even the most amazing things are boring.

Tang Shijiu would probably find it boring too.

Chapter Eight: A Heavenly Show (Part 1)

Tang Shijiu rubbed his eyes habitually and knocked on Yun Tan's door: "Spittoon, get up. The sun's already shining on your butt!"

After a while, the door opened and a disheveled head peeked out.

"A chicken coop has appeared." Nineteen laughed, peeking inside. "Is there some unspeakable secret in there, like a girl being hidden there?"

Yun chuckled and opened the door: "Actually, I like men."

Nineteen spat and tilted his head back slightly, the height just reaching his slightly stubbled chin: "Uncle, you really are an uncle." He then pointed to his eyes, "They're all bruised, like you've been beaten up. I don't want to walk with you, people will think I'm bullying you."

Yun Tan touched his chin, scratched his head, and smiled—a silly smile, so silly it didn't seem like a middle-aged man.

I tossed and turned all night, looking at the white porcelain bottle and touching the purse I kept close to my heart—there was a copper coin inside.

She only had two copper coins at the time, and when she handed them over, she looked distressed.

His heartache made him laugh, and he found it amusing.
